Is it possible to have a login that can access a table, which has an Update trigger on a column, and do some updating on another column but not have the trigger fire?
I cannot disable the Trigger. This db is on production and the trigger cannot be taken off. I also cannot bcp the data out and do the updating and bcp back in. The production table must remain as is, however I need to update some cols without the trigger firing.
Well im trying to install some software on someone's cpu. I dont know his password, and he has forgotten. How do I get pass the login screen? and assign a new name and password.
All the logins with sysadmin role are locked out in one of the SQL server. Also in that instance Logon trigger is implemented which allows only certain users with Windows Authentication to logon.
This server is converted into single user mode by using command prompt. Now we are attempting to connect to SQLServer using command sqlcmd -S FTCPU3239 (since we do not have any other login) and create a new login with sysadmin role but are refused due to logon trigger. it says Login failed for login 'DomainNameUserName' due to trigger execution.
CREATE trigger trUpdateGEOData on dbo.BK_Machine after insert, update as updateBK_Machine setBK_Machine.LOC_Street = GEO_Postcode.STraatID, BK_Machine.Loc_City = GEO_Postcode.PlaatsID fromBK_Machine inner join GEO_Postcode on BK_Machine.loc_postalcode = GEO_Postcode.postcode and BK_Machine.LOC_Doornumber >= GEO_Postcode.van and BK_Machine.LOC_Doornumber <= GEO_Postcode.tem inner join inserted on BK_Machine.MachineID = Inserted.MachineID
Now the thing is that a machine not neccesarily needs a location which mean that if postalcode or doornumber is NULL this trigger should clear the street and city columns.
I'm new to sql server (2000) and I have to make some trigger before it will be too late :( I don't have much time to learn it right now. but I'll defiantly do this some time.
I have 2 tables. tbl_A and tbl_B . in tbl_A I have a field named 'money' and another field 'name' .I need to make a trigger that will run whenever the money field updated. the update should be like that: 10% of the money that are in the update statement goes to every row in tbl_A where name='<name that used in update query>'. in addition, the 10% and the name goes to tbl_B
Does anyone have code for a trigger that when the user deletes the record trigger it to insert into another table? Thanks in advance and appreciate your help!
Hello, It is rare that I have a user for Triggers, but I have a special case. In a table named tbl_PaymhistCurrentWeek, I have a column called 'AcctCode'. This column will contain data that will be derived from another column called AcctCodeWithZeros. AcctCodeWithZeros contains an account code with leading zeros. The column AcctCode needs to contain the value in AcctCodeWithZeros, only without the leading zeros.
I tried to set up something in a Derived Column Transformation within SSIS, but I can't use PATINDEX.
Here is the latest version of the Trigger:
***************** CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[tr_AcctCode] ON [dbo].[tbl_PaymhistCurrentWeek] FOR INSERT AS
BEGIN INSERT tbl_PaymhistCurrentWeek (AcctCode, Co, AccountNoWithZeros) SELECT id.SUBSTRING([AccountNoWithZeros], PATINDEX('%[^0]%', [AccountNoWithZeros]), 14)AS AcctCode, id.Co, id.AccountNoWithZeros FROM Inserted id END **************** The default for AcctCode is an empty string, which is all I get when I insert into the table. AcctCode will be part of a primary key, so I don't think I can set up AcctCode to be a calculated column. What am I doing wrong?
The DDL for the table is as follows: tbl_PaymhistCurrentWeek ( AcctCode varchar(10) Default ' ' Not Null, Co char(2) Not Null, AcctCodeWithZeros varchar(20) Null CONSTRAINT (PK_PaymhistCurrentWeek) Primary Key Clustered (AcctCode, Co) )
I am fairly new to using triggers and stored procs in SQL Server and could use some help.
Scenario:
I have a table on SQL Server database running on a Windows server (of course) that contains information about articles. A second server in the shop is set up as a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) box. What I would like to do is any time the SQL server table is updated or a record is added, tables in MySQL would then be updated to reflect the changes on the first server. My thought is to try and do this with triggers and a stored proc.
Questions: 1) Assuming MySQL can be accessed through ODBC, can an ODBC connection be set up inside a stored proc or trigger, or would this have to be done through the Windows ODBC Data Sources tool in the control panel?
2) Can a Stored Proc be used in a trigger?
3) Can a Stored Proc call an outside function, such as an API call for third party software?
HI, I'm still on the steep side of the learning curve with ASP.NET. I've looked through a number of threads on this forum, and have gotten pieces of the answer, but need help getting past a roadblock.
I haven't been able to get a simple test application to connect to the Pubs database loaded on my system running MSDE. The only control in the application is a WebDataForm created by the Wizard. Everything works well (even the Preview Data form the Data menu loads and displays the correct data), except when the form is viewed in a browser. Click the load button and an error:Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.
Similar stories are common on this forum, and I tried to address the problem. I'm quite sure it's a autherization or authentication problem. I have Windows Server 2003 (with IIS 6.0), VS.NET 03 and MSDE as the SQL server on the same box. The MSDE server is using Windows Security mode. I Created a new user called ASPNET on the Windows Server. I added a login to the SQL Server 'WinServerNameASPNET' using windows auth. Still get the same login failed message.
Is there something I'm missing? Do I have to add a new user to IIS?
For the record, what users/settings do I need to have in Windows, SQL-Server and IIS, get past this login problem.
Thanks for answering this basic question - one more time.
I have created a trigger ON a table AFTER Insert, Update staement. In the trigger's body I am making a call to a stored procedure. In the procedure, I want to know the Trigger invoked due to which event : insert or Update as I have to handle bith the cases differently. But I am not able to find out any SQL server function or property which can distinguish between INSERT and Update events of a trigger.

I have relationships built for several tables and I want to bypass the FK restraints when deleting/truncating a table. The FK works fine when some one is trying to delete soemthing within the application, but on an administrative level, it is becoming VERY BOTHERSOME! Any help will be greatly welcomed!

I tried a little experiment. I took the constraint off of my two main tables, "manufacturers" and "products". I tried to TRUNCATE the tables again and I got the same error message. My products seems to have other contraints with two other tables. I checked out the two tables and both of them are empty. What's the deal!?! Again, any help is welcomed!
__ Updated 8/24 @ 17:02 Ok so I tried to disable the constraints: ALTER products NOCHECK CONSTRAINT ALL, but it didn't work with truncating.

is it possible to have the script component read X number of rows and then tell it don't read anymore, just pass this X number of rows to the destination?
I am looking for some advice. On a 6.5 database a user seemed to be having slow response, someone decided to stop and start the services. The database in question went into recovery mode. 24 hours later a network tech decided to stop and start the services again because the database was in recovery still. 5 hours later they decided to run the statement to put the database in Bypass Emergency Mode - "update sysdatabase set status = -32768 where name = 'dbname'", then they decided to set the status to 0 which made the database available again.
What can I do to ensure they did not damage the database? Can I compare the backup prior to the issue with the current database?
1st question I have to ask is: Is Emergency Mode the same as Bypass Recovery Mode?
2nd: I have a SQL2005 Database that was suspect this morning. I put the database in Emergency Mode: alter database {dbname} set emergency.
I did a dbcc checkdb on the database and found some corrupt indexes. I attempted to do a dbreindex on the table and got the error: Could not run BEGIN TRANSACTION in database '{dbname}' because the database is in bypass recovery mode.
How can I put the database in single_user mode and to a point where I can reindex the 1 table that is causing the problems. I would even be willing to drop the indexes and re-create.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.
I would like to call the report from an external source: The report requires a paramater.
I tried the following: <a href='http://Report.aspx?ItemTakeOn%2fItemTakeOn&ProcessNo=278'> Report</a>"
The link works & i added the parameter in the link (ProcessNo=278) it opens the report but i still have to manually insert the Parameter. Also tried setting the parameter as hidden.
Push data from the Integration Services pipeline or a custom application. The data can flow directly into an Analysis Services partition from the Integration Services package pipeline, without intermediate storage. This scenario can be used to reduce the latency (and storage cost) of analytical data.
What I think this means is that using SSIS I could bypass porting the data from ODS to DW, and instead use SSIS control flow/data flow components to direct the data straight to the Analysis Services Cube database storage partition.
I was hoping by posting this thread on this MSDN forum I could get details or links from those more knowledeable than I on this subject pointing me to how I may go about using SSIS to implement this approach. Perhaps package code examples or instructions about the components I could use to do this?
I have a logon trigger on a SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Advanced production database to prevent remote logons. The trigger works fine. When I need to connect via my local machine, remotely, I connect via a VPN, can connect with SSMS and do whatever I need. However, if I use a linked server on my local machine (still connected via VPN), I receive the logon error
Msg 17892, Level 14, State 1, Line 1 Logon failed for login 'sa' due to trigger execution.
The trigger is below and it logs any failures, except for the linked server.
If I disable the trigger, the linked server connects ok.
CREATE TRIGGER [tr_MasterLogon] ON ALL SERVER WITH EXECUTE AS 'sa' FOR LOGON AS BEGIN DECLARE @ClientAddress varchar(48) = (SELECT client_net_address
Suppose you have a simple DML "execute as..." trigger that looks like this:
CREATE TRIGGER dbo.myTrigger ON dbo.myTable WITH Execute As Owner AFTER INSERT AS
[code]...
which runs as "owner" so that the user inserting into "myTable" won't have the privs to edit the audit table. How does one capture the identity of the user whose insert statement caused the trigger to fire? I've tried "current_user" and "system_user" without success when "execute as ..." is used: they each return a value not related to the identity of the user running the original insert.without an "execute as" clause, what prevents a user from adding to or editing the audit table directly?
Hi, Im getting this error when attempting to retrieve data from an sql database.

Been looking through the forums for a solution to this problem.I already tried granting access through statements such as:exec sp_grantloginaccess N1'machineNameASPNET'But they don't seem to work.. i vaguely remember seeing somewhere a DOS command line statement that grants access to the ASPNET_WP and that fixed my problem before on another computer.. but this is a new computer and i forgot to write down the command. Can anyone help explain and propose a solution to my problem. Many thanxs.
I am using the MSDE to connect to my ASP.NET application. I get this error after clicking the login button of my login page. Anyone know why this would happen?
Thanks for any help,
Cannot open database requested in login 'DataSQL'. Login fails. Login failed for user 'serverASPNET'.
hi, so i have a new box and I'm trying to get my websites and SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition working on it, but the pages give me the following error when I try to load them: "Cannot Open Database "XXXX" requested by login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'xxx'" Everything seems exactly the same settings and user-wise from my old box to my new one, but nevertheless everything I've tried gives me the same error. I've tried creating new users in SQL Server and giving them appropriate permissions to my database. I've even tried just using the built in 'sa' account. Nothing seems to change the error, except when I give it the incorrect password then it just says 'login failed' This leads me to believe that i'm successfully logging into the SQL Server, but it doesn't want to give me access to the database I'm requesting access too. But "apparently" the account i'm using should have access to the database. If nothing else the 'sa' account should, but that didn't work either. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
Hi I have asp.net2 app using SQLExpress which works fine in VS2005. When I compile it and try to run it from IIS on the same machine using the same sql server database with: connectionstring="server=.SQLEXPRESS;Database=abc.mdf;Trusted_Connection=yes"/> I get the following error. Cannot open database abc.mdf requested by login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'machinenameASPNET' Any help much appreciated
I have a script component. What it does, it queries the a table using a connectionstring assigned to it in the Connection Managers Editor (which is an ado.net adapter). this works fine when i'm using a windows login in the ado.net connection manager. But when i changed my connection to use SQL server login, I encounter this error:

Cannot open database "QuoteSystem" requested by the login. The login failed.Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'. Last time I recieved this error I had to add ASPNet, NTAuthority, and myWebSiteUsers USERS under the database properties-->permissions setting for the specific database I am trying to access with the website but this database(QuoteSystem) does not lists any of these objects so I can add them. Does anybody know what I have to do to fix this? I am using SQL Server 2005.

I have a server that has 20 databases . I have tested with few users with different level of access and all of them were able to connect to the server and also see, select, update , delete from a particular database which is kind of weird because they do not have a user login associated or mapped to that database. I checked and no user is part of any group in AD that would give them permission to connect . I need a query that would find the permission path of a user. I already queried with xp_logininfo but I am not getting any thing.
