I have come across this error message in ssrs and cannot seem to locate the error. Report manager lets me logon-- I can navigate to the folder but once I click on the actual report I get this error
I have three tables: table1 has a one-to-many relationship with bothtable2 and table3. When I do a left join to get a count from table2,it works:SELECT table1.field1, COUNT(table2.field1) as MyCountFROM table1 LEFT JOIN table2 ON table1.field1 = table2.field1WHERE...GROUP BY table1.field1I want to also get a count from table3:SELECT table1.field1, COUNT(table2.field1) as MyCount,COUNT(table3.field1) as MyOtherCountFROM table1 LEFT JOIN table2 ON table1.field1 = table2.field1LEFT JOIN table3 ON table1.field1 = table3.field1WHERE...GROUP BY table1.field1The Count totals from the above query end up being a multiple of thetotals that I actually want. (If there are 8 records each in table2 andtable3, the counts would be 64 for each table). Can someone help meget the proper counts, in this case 8 from table2 and 8 from table3.Thanks!
I have a table which im joining that looks like this 123,1 123,2 123,3 123,4 456,1 456,18 456,71 456,99
I want to return the first column #s where there isnt a 2 in the second column. and i need it as a group by...
like, select column1 from table1 where column2 <> 2.... but that above query would still grab the 123.. because of the fk.. i would like the query to only pull the 456 b/c none of the fks with 456 have a 2... understand?
I have a variable called @ORComm which has been selected using a cursor from each line on an order.
DECLARE TC2 CURSOR FOR SELECT [Commodity],[Total] FROM [CSITSS].[dbo].[Ordrate] WHERE [OrderNumber]= @OrdNum AND [Companydiv] = 'GLPC-TRANS' OPEN TC2 FETCH NEXT FROM TC2 INTO @ORComm, @ORTotal
I need to compare the resulting @ORComm against a list of valid commodity types selectable by
SELECT [CommodityClass] FROM [CSITSS].[dbo].[Comclass] WHERE [CompanyDiv] = 'GLPC-TRANS' AND [DELETED] = 0
Everyone thinks that CSVs are awesome to transport data. I mean after all, SSIS defaults to Comma Delimited files. Even Excel defaults to it. Microsoft is supposed to be our leader! They should get this right. And get the terminology correct too. How many people describe the file as comma separated? It's delimited! Even SQL server calls it delimited by the "delimited" drop down.
CSVs suck and i will tell you why:
When you transport any text field (especially Address) it has the possibility of containing a comma. This causes data to be parsed into the wrong fields. Why in God's grace would you EVER get in the habit of choosing a delimiter that SOMETIMES doesn't work?
I'll tell you a little short story:
I have been waiting (at work) for like a month for a guy to export data and give me this file. Well today i finally got that file. He was in a hurry and used the Defaults to export this file. I don't blame him for being in a hurry and using the defaults. Well the defaults made the import NOT work because the data parsed into the wrong columns. Comma delimited would work if there was a text qualifier. But the default is comma delimited and NO text qualifier. What idiot thought that would be good. Or it was the separation of duties that eff'd this one up? Who knows?
Hi all, I run several contact websites. One of them is www.ramc.org.uk - they used to fill in a form and results emailed to me. I then manually copied and pasted into page on server. Very tiresome.
I was hoping with sql express i could create a page where they enter there details into the database after verifying details via a link..... Then as the new details are added they would be displayed on the contacts page in alphabetical order.
HelloI am getting this err msg when trying to logon to my website on the web - on my machine there is no prob, An error occurred while established a connection to the server. When connection to Sql.S 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact thatunder the default settings sql.s doesn't allow remote connection.(provider :Sql.S Network interface, error:26- Error Location Server/Interface Specified)(the files path is like in the web host s)
After upgrading a SQL 7.0 WINNT 4.0 SP5 box to Windows 2000 SP1, SQL 2000 configuration I am getting the following error when some users try to connect to the server using Enterprise Manager;
"A connection could not be established to 'SERVERNAME'. Reason: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'"
After doing some troubleshooting, I have found that this only occurs when I have the services started with a domain service account (this account is part of the domain admin global group and is a System Administrator in SQL as well) and it does not occur when the services are started with the System Account. Additionally, it also appears that this only occurs for some users and not all. However, these same users that are having problems on this server, can connect to other Database Servers using the "same" configuration.
Has anyone seen this. I have searched TechNet and found nothing that applies directly to this error. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
I just started at a new company. The security stinks, everyone logs into the servers as sa (including many applications). I am taking steps to tighten security and restrict access to the sa login. I would like to capture some additional information at logon as an interim measure.
Can anyone assist me in automatically recording the following: Host Name / IP Address Login time
I realize I could periodically run an sp_who2 and capture the results - I also realize that if I turn on auditing, the logon will be written to the SQL Srvr LOG - I'm looking for an elegant / low impact way to capture the logon and host information.
I was reading though my logs and noticed I had three instances of an anonymous logon last night. The last anonymous logon was at approx midnight. This is prime hacking time.
Can anyone give me direction on issues or concerns with anonymous logons.
I was playing around with logins and windows groups and did the following:
Created windows group on my local computer called SQLAdmins. Added my domain user to this SQLAdmins group. Added SQLAdmins as a windows login on my local sqlserver instance.
Tried to login with my domain user but get "can't login..." message.
we had a Problem that a colleague can't connect the SQL-Server on one server.
We use the VSTS 2005 and SQL Server 2005. He is trying to build a ne connection to the virtual maschine with his windows account and got the following message
Login Faild for User ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
He is user on the database and the server. he has dbowner rightson the database he tryed to connect.
I read a lot of artical but didn;t find a solutio to this problem.
I have Windows 2003 SP1 install Reporting services 2005
I have other Windows 2003 SP1 server with SQL 2005 database.
I set kerberos delegetion control on the server in the AD
I also run the command
cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/1/root/NTAuthenticationProviders "Negotiate,NTLM"
on reporting services server but still getting this error message.
Any help ????

I'm using iis 4.0 with nt security to validate users. I'm trying to only pass the nt logon to sql and use it as a filter when selecting records. I'm looking in the odbc driver and striking out there. What variable is the logon assigned to so that I can construct it in the sql query???? How is this done???

My company is apparently performing some sort of security test on our SQL Servers by sending malformed packets to it, which results in SQL Server throwing a Severity 20 error and resulting in my butt being paged every night at around 3 AM. As you can imagine, this ticks me off, but they refuse to stop this test. The [edited] error text from the SQL Log is as follows:
Source Logon Message Length specified in network packet payload did not match number of bytes read; the connection has been closed. Please contact the vendor of the client library. [CLIENT: 1.2.3.4]
I am writing a web application in c# that is attempting to get the parameters from a report on a Reporting Services 2005 server.
I am using the following code:
SQLReportViewer.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = new ReportCredentials(UserName, UserPassword, UserDomain); SQLReportViewer.ServerReport.ReportPath = Rpt.FileName; SQLReportViewer.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri(ServerUrl); Parameters = SQLReportViewer.ServerReport.GetParameters(); The Getparameters Line causes the following exception:
Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException was unhandled by user code Message="Logon failed. (rsLogonFailed)" Source="Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms" ErrorCode="rsLogonFailed" StackTrace: at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ServerReport.get_Service() at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ServerReport.GetExecutionInfo() at Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ServerReport.GetParameters()
The UserName, UserPassword and UserDomain variables are all populated with correct data, as is Rpt.FileName. The ReportCredentials class is a very simple implementation of the ICredentials interface - Code shown here:
-->
public class ReportCredentials : IReportServerCredentials { protected string _UserName, _Password, _Domain; public ReportCredentials(string UserName, string Password, string Domain) { _UserName = UserName; _Password = Password; _Domain = Domain; } //***************************************************************** public bool GetFormsCredentials (out System.Net.Cookie AuthCookie, out string UserName, out string Password, out string Authority) { UserName = _UserName; Password = _Password; Authority = _Domain; AuthCookie = null; return (true); } //***************************************************************** public System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity ImpersonationUser { get { return (null); } } //***************************************************************** public ICredentials NetworkCredentials { get{ return (new NetworkCredential(_UserName, _Password, _Domain)); } } <--
I can use the same credentials to retrieve a list of reports from the report server (the report I am trying to access is in that list) and to log on directly by going to the URL of Reporting Services.
This is made more frustrating by the complete lack of detail in the error message, as it does not say why the logon failed, or give me a single clue about what is going on.
Has anyone seen this before and can tell me how to fix it, or is there something stupid in my code?
Well this problem it's really driving me nuts!!! I am using a CrystalReportViewer on a windows application which has an embedded report document... The report (and the application too) is connected to an SQL Express server which is installed on an MS Small Bussines Server. The server and the terminal PCs are under the same domain. The app works flawlessly on the terminals, but when I open the form which contains the report I get prompted for logon to the SQL.. I have tried everything but it refuses to connect and i get a msg box : Logon failed. Please try again. The sql surface area and the database have been configured to accept remote connections and mixed mode authentication (otherwise my app dosen't run at all), i have created sysadmin users(on the SQL), i have turned off the firewall but it is still refuses to connect. I would like to mention that I have tested my app on my domain and SBS (I am not sure which version of SQL Server is installed) and I have used the develpment machine for the test. The logon is successful, even with the same account which the application connects (i mean the account included in the connection string) Any ideas????
I appreciate your time, thank you very much in advance...
I have a report server that I restore from a copy of a backup from another SQL server on a daily basis. The problem is that the SQL logon in the report server does not work with the copy and I need to delete the logon in the database and reset the permissions for the SQL logon in order for the reports to run.
1. How do I enable the SQL logon to work automatically with the daily copy?
Hi I am working on a replication database system, I will use SQL Server Enterprise at the main database and I’m planning to have remote databases with MSDE, I installed MSDE in a remote computer using a valid logon account for the domain in the domain controller (I had it connected for the set up). If I disconnect the computer from the network an restart the machine the Sql Server won’t start with the cache information.
When I installed MS SQL Server 2000 on our client's computer I installed it under a local account using Windows Authentication as the server logon and am now accessing it using a network login (remoting into the same box). The result is that if I change the password for the local Windows account and reboot the server, SQL server cannot be restarted; I get an error:
A connection could not be established to (LOCAL)
Reason: SQL SERVER does not exist or access denied. ConnectionOpen (Connect())..
Please verify SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties and try again.
I've changed the registration properties to use SQL Server Authenticaiton instead of Windows to no avail. Whichever connection option I use the server will not start unless I change the local account's password back to what it was when I installed. This works, but our client wants to have that local account's password changed for security/peace of mind. Any help or advice would be appreciated here :)
I have one old sql 2000 server and I backup the database and restore it to SQL 2008 R2 database. I can see all the tables and users but I do not know, how to move database user and logon's.
I have found many references to this issue on the forum, but no solution that works in my case. I believe that I am lacking a fundamental understanding of a security issue so I will attempt to provide as much up front information as possible. I can publish SSRS reports from BIDS to my local computer but when I try and publish the same reports to a production server, I get a login dialog (which I cannot get passed). Here are the particulars. My environment is a home office. I have my computer (which works with the localhost designation) running on a workgroup network (not domain based). My server is another machine on the network (named €œserverone€?). Both machines are running Windows XP Professional. The BIDS project €œDebug€? property page has the TargetServerURL set to http://localhost/ReportServer. The €œProduction€? property page has the TargetServerURL set to http://serverone/ReportServer. I am logged on as an administrator but I cannot publish to the remote server (serverone) from my machine (localhost). I have also tried using the actual TCIP address of the server in place of the serverone name to no avail. I believe that my problem is related to authentication between the two SQL Server 2005 instances running on separate machines on a workgroup based network rather than a domain based network but I cannot find any information that might be useful under these circumstances. Now, here is my workaround (but this seems very wrong). From the logon dialog generated in BIDS, the user ID name was blank. When I attempted to remotely access the Report Manager on the server from my machine, IE tried to logon using the €œserverone/guest€? account. I added an administrator role to the guest account on the server and everything works as expected. As I mentioned before, this seems very wrong. Currently, both machines were set to use the €œlocal system€? account during setup, but I am not even sure what that means. I tried setting the server to use the €œNetwork Service€? account as suggested in one of the forum threads but that did not work. Any help here would be greatly appreciated as I am sure that allowing the €œGuest€? account to have €œAdministrator€? privileges is a bad idea.
My Report Server works find but after apply SQL Server 2005 Service Pack2. I can't connect to ReportServer Database. When Trying to connect from SQL Server Management Studio i get following Page.
