Report Builder Functionality In A Browser-based Scenario
Jan 23, 2007I am planning to use SQL Reporting services in a new remote hosting centre and must provide ad-hoc reporting to a small number of users plus the access to running of previously prepared reports to a wider user base. User access must be thin client, browser based.
The client workstations are locked down to a particular security configuration and there is no possibility of installing .Net Framework on them. Normally, only browser-based applications can be used at the desktop client.
Apart from using Reporting Services (Citrix), what options do I have to provide users with the Report Builder in this scenario please? Are there any COTS packages that would provide this functionality?

There are a ton of Windows based applications (ie: www.altova.com / mapforce). I am looking for something I can expose via the web...
users has ability to upload a csv file and then define how the data would be mapped to an output source (say another csv or xml). In addition having functions like concantination, sum, if-exists, etc...
Does SSIS have a user friendly interface or has someone written some interactive tools on top of SSIS.

I am trying to find a pure web based backup restore tool that can be used on MS SQL 2000.
I have found a few that claim to be web based, but then it tells you to log into your MS SQL server and make some adjustments.
I know that microsoft Enterprise manager comes with a backup / restore tool. but 1) i dont want to have to install a complete copy of 2005 server, and 2) i dont hav ethe physical space to do it right now anyway. all i need to do is move 2 databases from one account to another.

I have got an SQL query which gives me some report against some data fed in .How can I set this query to run from a browser window .Meaning there will be some form where we input the data ( say date ) and run that query from the browser windows against that data .and the results are displayed in the browser window .

Jul 23, 2005I just found an odd bug and was wondering if anyone else has seen this.Any templpate file in the directory 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQLServer80ToolsTemplatesSQL Query Analyzer' that has the NTFScompression turned on (that is, colored blue in Windows Explorer) doesnot display in the object browser's template tab of query analyzer.Control-Shift-Insert works fine to insert a template, however.What's up with that?

Jul 21, 2007I had SQL200 query analyzer loadded on a machine but it crashed.
Culd find CD. We decided to load SQl Server Manager sudio express from a sql 2005 CD. THe problem is that wen running queries with it, it puts some strange characters in the output. They arenon-printable characters so you don't see them
when you edit them in notepad. I have an editor that allows you to edit different
modes. I looked at the file in hex mode and found the characters there at the beginning of the first record. I just want the results in the result pane of the query to save as a regular ASCII text file comma delimited. THis same script was used successfully
in SQL2000 query Analyzer. Can anyone help?

Oct 6, 2005Just a general question about any recommendations for a third party tool that would allow setting up a data-dictionary against SQL Server tables and a user could go in and build their own queries, reports. Perhaps they could save their query/report definitions for reuse. Other nice to haves - ability to output to PDF and export to XLS. Would prefer web interface, but can consider desktop as well. Any immediate recommendations?

I am using DLinq with SQL Server Express 2005 and I need to install some kind of user interface which shows me a trace of the SQL statements sent. I would like to see them in real time (I won't like to inspect a log after :-).
I remember that there was something similar in SQL Server 2000 full edition, but I requiere the same functionality in the Express version now.
Could you tell me if there is some tool to do that?

Aug 12, 2015I would like to be able to view the complete SQL command that is sent from a Microsoft Access query which has linked SQL Server tables through ODBC, and the query also has some VBA functions manipulating and filtering data.I tried using the SQL Profiler to view the sql command send to SQL Server but all I see is the simple query format and some of the fields. I don't see the fields that have a VBA function such as trim(fieldname) etc in the column. And If I use a VBA fucntion in the Criteria then nothing shows up in SQL Profiled under the TextData column.How can I see the complete SQL command sent to SQL Server?

Knowing that the Matterid=4, I query the database to get the OfficeId for that MID (Select OfficeID from tMatter where Mid=4) ~This returns an OfficeID of 6
So, then I need to do another query to get the employees where OfficeID = 6 (Select EmployeeID from tEmployees where OfficeID = 6)
How do I do these in one query, or how do I use the Calculated Value for the OfficeID in the 2nd statement?

The keywords arecurrently just stored comma-separated in a single column but I am notattached to this. Apr 25, 2007I have a SQL query that finds a value which I need to pass into an SSIS variable so I can use it later to set the filename for my data flow task. So far, I have been unsuccessful in determining how this is done.
google searches, etc seem to be fruitless for me, there are so many hits but none really seem to address what I want to do because there are so many things you can do with variables. Likewise the books online and the boks I have on SSIS also only give a very high level of info. I need some examples, if anyone could help I would appreciate it.
Here is the basic gist of my query:
exec SP_GET_FILE_NAME @file_name OUTPUT
I need to take the resulting @file_name and store it in an ssis variable. How?
