I have a task to count distinct records in a big table with roughly 30M records, performance is an important factor. Query is to be written to calculate weekly stats, weekly record number could be as high as 1M.
The actual result is like: ID Policy 350235744Credit Cards 350235744PCI 350235744PCI Audit
So the final number for this particular Policy is 3
I can write the query like:
select count(distinct Incident_id) policy_name from Reporting_DailyDlpDetail Where (year(INSERT_DETECT_TS)=2015) and (month(INSERT_DETECT_TS) =6) and (day(INSERT_DETECT_TS) between 2 and 9) This returns 526254 and costs 11 seconds to complete
or a query like: Select distinct Incident_id, policy_name from Reporting_DailyDlpDetail Where (year(INSERT_DETECT_TS)=2015) and (month(INSERT_DETECT_TS) =6) and (day(INSERT_DETECT_TS) between 2 and 9) This returns 749687 and costs roughly 1 minute to complete.
Result is different from the two queries, I believe the later gives correct number. How can I count the distinct based on a combo?Considering the size of data, what is the best and most efficient way to run the stats calculation against over 30 different scenarios (different policies and alert types) and not timeout?
I want my query to list all SSNS that have more than one record in the table. I have this query:

SELECT SSN, name4, count(*) from [1099_PER] group by SSN, name4 having count(SSN) > 1
It does retrieve the right SSNS and tells me how many times the SSN occurs in the table. However, I want my query results to display their full records.
For example
SSN NAME4 COUNT 123445555 WALTER - 4
I want the query to show me all four records for this SSN. I thought removing the count field would do this, but it still gives me only one instance of each SSN.
I have 1 table that is just a list of feeds. A, B, C, D etc (15 rows in total) and each feed has other information attached to it such as Full name, location etc etc. I am only interested in the Feed column.
Each feed then has a corresponding data table which contains a list of records. Eg Feed A data is contained in TableA, Feed B data is contains in TableB and so on.
Basically what I need is a combined table that shows the list of Feeds in the 1st Column ( So A, B, C, D…..) and then a second column which counts the records from each separate data table corresponding to that feed.
So the end result would look something like this:
Feed------No of Records A----------4 (from TableA) B----------7 (from TableB) C----------8 (from TableC) D----------1 (from TableD)
Ok, I'm really new at this, but I am looking for a way to automatically insert new records into tables. I have one primary table with a primary key id that is automatically generated on insert and 3 other tables that have foreign keys pointing to the primary key. Is there a way to automatically create new records in the foreign tables that will have the new id? Would this be a job for a trigger, stored procedure? I admit I haven't studied up on those yet--I am learning things as I need them. Thanks.

I would like to find out how to capture record count for a table in oracle using SSIS and then writing that value in a SQL Server table.

I can use a Select Count statement, but I will have to make a SQL call for every user in Table A. Also, Table A is dynamic, so the users are always changing. Can this be incorporated into one SQL call to count the total rows in Table B for each user in Table A?

I have table 'stores' that has 3 columns (storeid, article, doc), I have a second table 'allstores' that has 3 columns(storeid(always 'ALL'), article, doc). The stores table's storeid column will have a stores id, then will have multiple articles, and docs. The 'allstores' table will have 'all' in the store for every article and doc combination. This table is like the master lookup table for all possible article and doc combinations. The 'stores' table will have the actual article and doc per storeid.
What I am wanting to pull is all article, doc combinations that exist in the 'allstores' table, but do not exist in the 'stores' table, per storeid. So if the article/doc combination exists in the 'allstores' table and in the 'stores' table for storeid of 50 does not use that combination, but store 51 does, I want the output of storeid 50, and what combination does not exist for that storeid. I will try this example:

I have two tables that share a common identity row. I need to build a query where data that exists in one table does not contain data in the other table. I'm using an ObjectDataSource in Visual Studio to retrieve records from a SQL Server 2005 database. I have a very simple dilemma. In a table I have fields FirstName, Surname, Address1, Address2, Address3 etc. None of these are mandatory fields. It is quite common for the user not to enter data in Address2, Address3, so the values are <null> in the SQL table. In Visual Studio 2005 I have an aspx form where users can pass search parameters to the ObjectDataSource and the results are returned according to the passed in parameters. The WHERE clause in my Table Adapter is:WHERE (Address1 LIKE @Address1 + '%') AND (Address2 LIKE @Address2 + '%') AND (Address3 LIKE @Address3 + '%') AND (FirstName LIKE @FirstName + '%') AND (Surname LIKE @Surname + '%') If, for example, I simply want to search WHERE FirstName LIKE ‘R’, this does not return any results if the value of Address3 is <null> My query is this: Could someone please show me the best way in Visual Studio 2005 to return records even if one of the Address fields is <null>. For reference, I have tried: Address3 LIKE @Address3 + '%' OR IS NULLThis does work, however itsimply returns every instance where Address3 is <null> (accounting for about 95% of the records in the database). I am using the default ASPNETDB.MDF database for a project in SSE 2005 and VWD 2005. I need to use the UserName field from the aspnet_Users table as a foreign key in another table I have in the database. I am doing this so that I can grab data generated from additional fields that I'm adding to the membership registration wizard. However, I am obviously missing some steps since the user name doesn't show up in my second table. What should I do besides creating a relationship between the two fields and tables? Should I be writing some sort of SQL statement to accomplish this?
Hi, We want to compare one record in a table with other remaing records of the table that meet a criteria of a business logic.
eg.I have startcall_time,end_calltime as fields with other 50 fields. As a business logic we need to subtract start_calltime of new record from end_calltime of previous record and do some calculations.These calculations have to be done for all the calls where endcalltime(of a record)-startcall(timeof a different record )meet a criteria.
