MS Access Table Error !!!

Aug 20, 2007

One of my user gets the following error from MS Access running from his local machine and linking to the database & appropriate tables. The MS Access application uses back end SQL server to get info from. ODBC connections are fine, I tested them already. His machine uses DHCP to connect to the network. Recently he got new upgraded PC and since than this problem arose. He was OK on his older PC. No changes has been made on sql server side. One thing I'd like to mention is: We have Citrix server on which this application is published and this user can connect and perform the same tasks using the Citrix client. He gets this error only when he tries to run it on his local PC and connect to the database on a remote server. Any ideas what & where else to look?
Thanks

VB6 && VB2005 Runtime Error When Writting To Access Database Table

May 1, 2007

In both VB6 and VB2005 Both are loaded on same computer. When attempting to write to an access database table using ADO I get a runtime error: -2147217887(80040e21) "mutiple-step operation generates errors. Check each status value. Now that I have Visual Studio 2005 loaded on the same machine. I get this error. I get the exact same error when using this code in VB2005. I know VB6 but am just learning 2005. The following code is writting to a database table from various user imputed text and combo boxes. I used basicly the same code in VB2005 and get the same exception error. This code works on machines that do not have VB .net loaded. How do I fix this. My application is useless unless the user can make changes to their data.

Unexpected Error From External Database Driver (MS Access Linked Table)

Oct 19, 2006

OS: Windows XP (SP2)
App: MS Access 2003 (SP2)
DB: MS SQL 2000 (SP4, 2040)

User is using MS Access linked table to query database (using ODBC). User can open the query in MS Access. However when the user goes to export the data to MS Excel format, the user receives the error message:

"Unexpected Error from External Database Driver (22)."

A trace on the db, reveals that the user process is attempting to log in to the server as 'Admin'. However, when the query with the linked table is first opened, the user is prompted for username/password (non Windows authentication).

Any ideas? I googled and found some stuff, but nothing directly related and most of what I found was supposedly fixed with SP1.

Any help appreciated. I am not an Access guru.

Access Denied Error Message Using Xp_cmdshell To Access Network Share

Jan 14, 2007

When running the following statement in SQL 2005, I get the error message "Access is denied":

exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'TYPE \SERVER-BSHAREFILE.TXT'

The following are true about the network:

The SQL Server is installed on SERVER-A.
SERVER-A and SERVER-B are Windows 2003 servers on the same Windows 2003 domain.
The SQL Server and SQL Server Agent services are running under the domain account SQLSERVICE.
SQLSERVICE is a member of the Domain Admins group.
The Domain Admins group is part of the local Administrators group on SERVER-B.
The SQLSERVICE account has also explicitly been given Full Control to the folder referenced by \SERVER-BSHARE
xp_cmdshell use has been enabled on the SQL Server.

If I run the following command in SQL:

exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell 'whoami'the following is returned: DOMAINSQLSERVICE
If I change the command to access the c: drive instead of a network drive, it executes successfully.

Can anyone shed some light on why I still cannot access any of the files in this folder using xp_cmdshell?

I have one table "ItemMaster" in my database. There is no relationship with this table,it is standalone.I am updating its values from Windows Mobile Device.

I am performing below operations for that.
Step : 1 Pull To Mobile

Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Pull("ItemMaster", "SELECT * FROM ItemMaster", lsConnectString,RdaTrackOption.TrackingOn);

Step : 2 Using one device form i am updating table "ItemMaster" table's values.

Step : 3 Push From Mobile

Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Push("ItemMaster", msConnectString);

So i am getting an error on 3rd step.
While i am trying to push it says,
"The Push method returned one or more error rows. See the specified error table. [ Error table name = ]".
I have tried it in different ways but still i am getting this error.

Note : Synchronization is working fine. There is not issue with my IIS,SQL CE & SQL Server 2k.

Can any one help me?I am trying for that since last 3 days.

Error: 5123 CREATE FILE Encountered Operating System Error 5A(Access Denied.)

HI ,

This is a problem I encountered when I had to detach a database file (type .mdf):

1) I went to the MS SQL Management Server Studi and detached my database file successfully from a connection called Workhorse.

2) I needed to place the .mdf database file into a zip file in order to put it on a remote server. I did this using Shared Portal. This was also successful

3) However when I tried reattaching the database file, I got this error:

CREATE FILE encountered operating system error 5A(Access denied.) while attempting to open or create the physical file "CProgram FilesMSSQL ServerMSSQLData<databasename>.mdf'

Q) The database file and log file (ldf) exist in the correct directory so I don't know what happened. Can any one help?

Thanks much

Execute SQL Task: Executing The Query Exec (?) Failed With The Following Error: Syntax Error Or Access Violation. Possible F

Jan 23, 2008

Hi,
I'm having an SSIS package which gives the following error when executed :

Error: 0xC002F210 at Create Linked Server, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "exec (?)" failed with the following error: "Syntax error or access violation". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.Task failed: Create Linked Server

The package has a single Execute SQL task with the properties listed below :

General Properties
Result Set : None

ConnectionType : OLEDB
Connection : Connected to a Local Database (DB1)
SQLSourceType : Direct Input
SQL Statement : exec(?)
IsQueryStorePro : False
BypassPrepare : False

Parameter Mapping Properties

variableName Direction DataType ParameterName

User::AddLinkSql Input Varchar 0

'AddLinkSql' is a global variable of package scope of type string with the value
Exec sp_AddLinkedServer 'Srv1','','SQLOLEDB.1',@DataSrc='localhost',@catalog ='DB1'

When I try to execute the Query task, it fails with the above error. Also, the above the sql statement cannot be parsed and gives error "The query failed to parse. Syntax or access violation"

I would like to add that the above package was migrated from DTS, where it runs without any error, eventhough
it gives the same parse error message.

I would appreciate if anybody can help me out of this issue by suggeting where the problem is.

Error 5 (Access Denied) And Named Pipes Provider Error 40

Sep 21, 2006

Hello there,

I recently started having trouble with my local SQL Server 8.0 database server. When I try to start it with Enterprise Manager I get the following error:

An error 5 - (Access is denied) occured while performing this service operation on the MSSQLServer service.

Nothing showed up in the SQL Server error logs. If I try to connect to it using the SQL Server Management Studio that came with SQL Server 2005 I get the following (slightly more informative) message:

Cannot connect to (local) ... (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)

I'm not sure which log to look at in the MSSQL folders: MSSQL.1, MSSQL.2 or MSSQL.3.

Furthermore, if I manually start the MSSQLSERVER service, then I can connect just fine with the SQL Server 2005 Management Studio but still get the weird error message with SQL Server 8.0 Enterprise Manager.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Importing Access Table Into SQL Server 2005 Express Table And Adding One Field

Feb 16, 2007

Hi all,

Hopefully I am posting this question in the correct forum. I am still learning about SQL 2005. Here is my issue. I have an access db that I archive weekly into and SQL server table. I have used the dst wizard to create an import job and initally that worked fine. field I have as the primary key in the access db cannot be the primary key in the sql table since I archive weekly and that primary key field will be imported several time over. I overcame this initally by not having a primary key in the sql table. This table is strictly for reference. However, now I need to setup a unique field for each of the records in the sql table. What I have done so far is create a recordID field in the sql table that is an int and set as yes to Identify (auotnumber). That worked great and created unique id for all existing records. The problem now is on the import. When I try to import the access table i am getting an error because of the extra field in the sql table, and the error is saying cannot import null value into this field. So... my final question is how can I import the access table into the sql table with one extra field which is the autonumber unique field? Thanks a bunch for any asistance.

Append Query From Access Table To Linked SQL Server Table Failing

Jun 18, 2004

Strange one here - I am posting this in both SQL Server and Access forums

Access is telling me it can't append any of the records due to a key violation.

The query:

INSERT INTO dbo_Colors ( NameColorID, Application, Red, Green, Blue )
SELECT Colors_Access.NameColorID, Colors_Access.Application, Colors_Access.Red, Colors_Access.Green, Colors_Access.Blue
FROM Colors_Access;

Colors_Access is linked from another MDB and dbo_Colors is linked from SQL Server 2000.

There are no indexes or foreign contraints on the SQL table. I have no relationships on the dbo_ table in my MDB. The query works if I append to another Access table. The datatypes all match between the two tables though the dbo_ tables has two additional fields not refrenced in the query.

I can manually append the records using cut and paste with no problems.

I have tried re-linking the tables.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Brad

DTS Error Involving Access

Dec 9, 2004

Hello,

I have a DTS package that migrates data from Excel to Access to SQL Server. Before that occurs, at the very beginning, I have a delete script that deletes the existing data in the Access database. When I hit that first step, it gives me the error:

Microsoft JET Database Engine (-2147467259) - The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '<path to access .mdb>'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.

I checked the permissions and the account that the web site is running under (impersonated) has full permissions to the file. Also, I am running the web site on my machine, I'm triggering the DTS package through .NET code, the access database is on a file/print server, and the SQL Server is a separate machine.

I'm thinking that maybe the issue is that the access database is on a separate machine, but I'm not quite sure.

Brian
