I have one table with 300,000 records and 30 columns.
For example columns are ID, COMPANY, PhONE, NOTES ...
ID - nvarchar lenth-9
COMPANY - nvarchar lenth-30
NOTES - nvarchar length-250
Select * from database
where NOTES like '%something%'
Is there a way to get results from this query in less then 1-2 second
and how?
How can I copy a table from my sql server 2000 db to my sql server 2005 express edition? I have a project in VS.NET 2005 and I have a db in App_Data folder. However, when I look into that folder, there is nothing visible. I now need to copy a table from my existing sql server 2000 to my db located in my project's App_Data folder. In one of our forth coming projects, with ASP.Net/C#/MSSQL Server, We have to deal with a Business table having about 15 millions of records. We want to know, that which methodologies should we adopt, both regarding front end and back end perspective, so the site could give optimised performance. Also in place of a Dedicated Server, the Hosting Company provides MSDE (that come with .net). Will this create any problem with this project, that have such a huge table? Should we go for some advanced database technique, such as, Clustering, Spliting Tables, etc.
Followings are the fields that the business table contains:
ID, Category ID (which comes from a Category table, each business is under a category), BusinessName, SignupDate, Address1, Address2, Phone Number, Hours Of Operation, Years in Business, LicenseNumber, DiscountCoupon, Website
Table2 contains fields Group, Name,Category, Dimension (Group and Name are not in Table1)
So basically I need to read the records in Table1 using Groupid and each time there is a Groupid then select records from Table2 where Table2.Category in (Select Catergory from Table1) and Table2.Dimension in (Select Dimension from Table1)
In Table1 There might be 10 Groupid records all of which are different.

I can transfer Collection data to xml file ,my problem as below : There have multiple records data in my xml file,and I want to send the xml file as argument to a store procedure in sql 2000

i am using this search SELECT IDENT_CURRENT('t_Que') AS Expr1 and it will not return anything my primary key is a varchar with the length 12 will this command only work for an int as a primary key and if so is there another way i could do this my plan is to retrieve the last entered primary key so that i can generate a new one to add a new record to the database. the primary key is created by YYMMDDNN where YY=year MM=Month DD=Day NN=the number created that day
now just to be specific i dont need help creating the primary key i just need to know how to retrieve the previously created primary key. I am trying this command directly in an sql query there is no code yet i am trying to see how the command functions first

no rows are returned.
In the full text tab under the pubs database, my demo catalog is listed, but the Item count and unique key count are both 1. There are 18 records in my titles table.
The full text files location is on my H drive which is set up as a dependency of SQL Server in cluster admin.
In SQL EM->Support Services->Full Text Search->properties, the location of my temporary files was set to C:winnt empgthrsvc. As nothing in cluster admin can see this directory, I changed it to H: emp but still no data is returned by the query. There is no default error log file listed and I can't work out how to change this.
I have checked the Search service is running under the local system account.
I can't find any error messages which may indicate a problem apart from the fact that the T-SQL query doesn't return any data.
This may be more of a Sharepoint or server question but I thought I would post it here to start off with. I have an installation of SQL 2000 SP4 and sharepoint services 2003 all on one server. For example the SQL 2000 (SP4), sharepoint and its indexes all on the one server (HP G4 DL380). I have installed the index service and the full text services on the SQL server then configured searching in sharepoint. The search worked fine for about a year until one day the server started randomly hanging for no apparent reason. After a hard reboot the server would begin to hand again after around 2-3 minutes of being online, sometimes less. After lots of problem shooting I nailed it down to being the Microsoft search service that caused the issue. Basically if I set this service to manual and boot I have no problem. As soon as I start the service the server will start to hang about 2-3 minutes later.
I tried this again last night after trying some fixed and got the same result. The only error I get are in the application log which are about 4 of these with different file types.
One or more documents stored in image columns with extension €œX€? did not get full-text indexed because loading the filter failed with error '0x1'
The server continues to log messages while it is hanging and you can ping the server but you can not access sharepoint, remote in to the server, you can login locally but as soon as you try anything like bring up the start menu all resources will freeze up. During this time there is no disk activity and the CPU usage is 1-3% and mem usage is low.
Can anyone suggest anything to fix this problem so I can start the Microsoft search service and use search in sharepoint again.
I have to search the records after the records populated.
I mean to say, i have displayed records in report, if i enter some strings in the textbox and clicked find, then it will highlight the particular records, instead of highlighting the values, is it possible to display only those particular records.
For example, say i have 50 records in a page,i entered some strings in the textbox and clicked find, then it will highlight the particular 5 records one by one which match the criteria i have entered in the texbox, instead of that i have to display only those 5 records.

I have installed the Adobe iFilter 11 64 bit and set the path to the bin folder. I still cannot find any text from the pdf files. I suspect I am missing something trivial because I don't find much when I Bing for this so it must not be a common problem.Here is the code.

I have a table that contains words that will be used to search another table where FullText index has been created on searchable columns. I'm basically trying to run something like this:
SELECT t1.col1, t2.col3 FROM tbl1 t1, tbl2 t2 WHERE CONTAINS (t1.col1, t2.col1)
I know this won't work but is there a way to join these two tables so the words (t2.col1) can be passed as search conditions? There is no common key on both tables so normal join won't work. I'm trying to find a way to pass the search words from one table to another.
Ok, I'm really new at this, but I am looking for a way to automatically insert new records into tables. I have one primary table with a primary key id that is automatically generated on insert and 3 other tables that have foreign keys pointing to the primary key. Is there a way to automatically create new records in the foreign tables that will have the new id? Would this be a job for a trigger, stored procedure? I admit I haven't studied up on those yet--I am learning things as I need them. Thanks.

Hello I am trying to create a stored procedure where the users can either type in the last name, or a wild card in order to get the values they are looking for. Sometimes they are not sure how to spell the last name and they will type in the first 2 letters or an * for all to see if they can find it that way. How can I do this??

Hi, i have a table with all employee bio-data in a completed project. Iam now working on another project with a table that needs the same data and here iam talking about 300 records that rarely change. Instead of re-entering this data in this new table, i want to import the data from the completed project into a table in this new project. Does any one have any idea how to achieve that or is there a better option to do the same. One more thing iam realising here is that iam going to use this same data in very many applications and some one from one department is going to enter this data in all these different applications. so i was wondering if there could be a way of having a central database that this guy can mantain and then i be able to use that table data in different applications that iam going to develop. I dont want to kill this unlucky guy with data entry tasks every time i deploy a new application. So basically, how can make one database application sever several different applications with its data.
I am trying to write a query that will retrieve all students of a particular class and also any rows in HomeworkLogLine if they exist (but return null if there is no row). I thought this should be a relatively simple LEFT join but I've tried every possible combination of joins but it's not working.

I have table 'stores' that has 3 columns (storeid, article, doc), I have a second table 'allstores' that has 3 columns(storeid(always 'ALL'), article, doc). The stores table's storeid column will have a stores id, then will have multiple articles, and docs. The 'allstores' table will have 'all' in the store for every article and doc combination. This table is like the master lookup table for all possible article and doc combinations. The 'stores' table will have the actual article and doc per storeid.
What I am wanting to pull is all article, doc combinations that exist in the 'allstores' table, but do not exist in the 'stores' table, per storeid. So if the article/doc combination exists in the 'allstores' table and in the 'stores' table for storeid of 50 does not use that combination, but store 51 does, I want the output of storeid 50, and what combination does not exist for that storeid. I will try this example:
'allstores' 'Stores' storeid doc article storeid doc article ALL 0010 001 101 0010 001 ALL 0010 002 101 0010 002 ALL 0011 001 102 0011 002 ALL 0011 002
So I want the query to pull the one from 'allstores' that does not exist in 'stores' which in this case would the 3rd record "ALL 0011 001".
Previously same records exists in table having primary key and table having foreign key . we have faced 7 records were lost from primary key table but same record exists in foreign key table.
I have a scenario where I have to Update a table with date when there are new records in another table
For example:
I load ODS table with the data from a file in SSIS. the file has CustomerID and other columns.
Now, when there is new record for any customerID in Ods, then Update the dbo table with the most recent record for every CustomerID(i.e. update the date column in dbo for that customerID). Also Include an Identifier that relates back to the ODS table. How do I do this?
I have to create a search textbox where if i key in the word "dog",it will search against a field called "Name" in a table.Then it will return all records where the text/data in the "Name" field contains the word "dog".For example,it will return the records where the text/data in the "Name" field has words such as "hotdog","doggie","dog barking","big dog" etc etc.

I'm just learning to join tables and I'm trying to construct a query to tell me the following:
Table names and related columns: Table1.HdrSys Table2.HdrSysNum and HdrSys Table3.HdrSysNum
Table3 contains the detail info for Table2. Table1 is the header table for Table2. So.. If I want all records in Table3 that don't have a related record in Table1, is this even possible?

having some issues trying to create a query in excel 2013. I can get the data I want from sql, but I get individual transactions and I want to sum them by plu number. here is my query, I tried using group by but every time I add the field, I get an error that some other field is invalid because it's not contained in an aggregate or group by clause. btw, I didn't name these fields.

Using ASP.net 2.0 or Visual Web Developer Edition 2005 I could not find a single example with Datagrid Control or Form View Control, to achieve the basic functionality ofAdd/Edit/Delete Records with Remote SQL Server 2000 Database. When I searched for these examples I found many videos and examples using local database and in learning path of Visual web express editions, very goodexamples and videos using local SQL Server 2005 database, BUT not with the remote database. My question Is it possible to get the basic functionality of Add/Edit/Delete Records with Remote SQL Server 2000 Database using ASP.Net 2.0 Datagrid and FormView controls? This question looks like, a lazy developer question!! but, in my learning path I found GREAT videos in Visual Studio Web Developer Express edition and learned simple way of drag and drop the controls assign create local database and their connections, and few clicks to add/edit/delete records using datagrid and formview controls. In real life those are not much useful because many of web interfaces are with sql server 2000 and we need to convert them into ASP.Net. Similarly I wanted to drag and drop couple of controls and less coding etc. and accomplish basic functionality of add/edit/delete records using remote database sql server 2000. If possible please help me out. Wondering is it possible to get the functionality of add/edit/delete records using datagrid/formview with remote sql server 2000, the way they explained in bigginers learning videos ... I have few tables. I want to identify the RECORDS for a table which has been created/modified for a particular date and time. I don't want to write a trigger to capture the event for add/update.
Is there any system table which track for date and time using stored procedure each individual records which has been last updated or newly created records??
Note : The application already created without lastModified date and each table... so, we don't want to modify the application or db.
