Hey I link this editor, Where can I get this beautiful forum message editor ?.
Hi all, Yesterday, I just downloaded the SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPR.EXE) and tried to install it in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft NT 4 LAN System. I got the following error: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 CTP setup The Microfost .NET Framework 2.0 is not installed. Please install before running setup. This morning, I downloaded the NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86) from the Microsoft Download Center and installed it in my Windows XP Pro PC. Then I tried to install the SQL Server 2005 Express (SQLEXPR.EXE) again. This time I got a new error: SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005. Use ADD or Remove Programs to remove these components, and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. I am confused and lost in this installation problem. Was the .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package Beta 2 (x86) a wrong Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 I downloaded and installed in my PC? Where is the right Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 for the SQL Server 2005 Express? Please help and advise. Thanks in advance, Scott Chang
I cannot install the new version of sql 2005 because it will not install when the beta version is installed. However when I try to uninstall the beta version it says it needs .Net framework 2.0. I have .Net framework 2.0 and so I am stuck with what to do next. Ideas anyone?
I am trying to uninstall the SQL SERVER 2005 Beta version but I am getting following error.
SQL Server 2005 has detected incompatible componanets from Beta version of Visual Studio. NET framework or sql server 2005
I have SQL Server 2005 is already in my system but it is B version so I am trying to uninstall it but it is not getting Uninstalled. and my system is having visual studio 2003 .net
so how to uninstall SQL Server 2005 Beta version ?
I had installed a beta version of SQL Server (SQL Server 2005 CTP) and now I want to install a full version of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on my machine. I have properly uninstalled all the CTP componenets from Add-Remove programs and even deleted the registry data of that installation. I have also removed the related folders from the hard drive.
When I run the setup of the full version it says that setup has detected the beta versions of either .Net Framework, Visual Studio or SQl Server. Remove the beta components using Add-Remove programs and try again. Can anyone help me out of this problem?

Dear Community,

I am doing an upgrade of SQL Server from Beta 3 release to the release version. I will appreciate if I get some information , some tips that I should follow which will make my task simpler. The database is very critical and big. It has huge amounts of stored procedures. If you can tell me any site which gives information regarding this that will be also helpful..
I need to connect to a sql ce data file via Intranet . Does sql ce support that ? When I attempt to connect that remote file, it show me the error message "There is a file sharing violation .A different process migth be using this file".
I am having trouble installing SQL 7.0 beta 3 on my home PC running Windows 98. The setup process fails in the last stage when it attempts to start the server. The one thing missing on my PC is it still doesn`t have any TCP/IP address; does it matter? I have also noticed that when I run the setup, it doesn`t recognize Named pipe protocol. Have anybody had similar problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. -Manoj
What's the deal with SQLServer 2005 Beta?I've just got a magazine with a free cover disk with VB 2005 beta, and also includes SQLServer 2005. I've installed it, but I can't get itto do anything. It seems to have installed ok, there are the data filesfor allthe usual system and example databases in place, and TaskManager shows that SQLServer is definitely running. However theonly tool that came with it is called 'Computer Management' whichallows configuration options on the network, and to start and stopSQL Server. There are none of the Enterprise Manager controls toaccess the database, create tables, create users and so on. Enterprisemanager from SQL Server 2000 seems unable to detect the newinstallation. What's going on? Are there client tools I can download to access thedatabase with?
I installed the beta version first and it was working fine, then I obtained a copy of SQL Server 200 Enterpirse Edition and installed it. But I can't connect to the beta SQL Server 2005 Instance on my computer through Enterprise Mananger, but I can in Query Analyzer. ANyone know why?
Hi. I have a strange problem. ASP.NET pages works, but when I try to estamblish a connection, I get an error: Shared Memory Provider:Connection was terminated pointing to Connection.Open();.I must say that this same code has worked before and I have some Windows App that works (connects to a the same MSSQL), and ASP.NET pages don't.I've tried to Disable the Shared memory from SQL Configuration Manager, but no luck. The only thing that I've notice is that when I go to IIS Manager and click properties on web site properties and under the ASP.NET tab i combobox I don't have anything, just empty combobox.I repeat that ASP.NET pages working, only when I want to contact the database, error raises.I've tried to instal framework again, hoping that combobox wan't be empty, but it's still the same. Please, help me with this. Iam getting desperate and a little bit angry most of all because this same code has worked before.Thanks.
I am trying to uninstall Sql Server 2005 Beta in order to upgrade to the Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition but without success.
Here is what I have already done:
I had VS 2005 2.0 Beta and Sql Server 2005 Beta installed. I wanted to upgrade to the Professional Editions so I uninstalled VS 2005 2.0 Beta and Sql Server 2005 Beta from Add/ Remove programs.
I have successfully installed VS 2005 Professional Edition but when I try to install Sql Server 2005 it gives me an error saying that SQL Server 2005 has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005.
This is home installation no tricky one. That's fine, I understand that. But I wonder whether I will be able to load any SSIS package already defined by mean of Visual Basic .Net after that message.
That message appears after I try to open BIDS IDE.
My SQL Server 2005 Beta has expired and I want to unistall it. When I try, it tells me I need to have .NET framework 2.0 before I can run setup. I do have .NET 2.0. And I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and I still get the error from SQL Server when I try to unsintall. This error is pissing me off and this stupid beta is taking up almost a gig of space. HELP.
Ok, I have tried everything I can think of, but I am still getting errors to do with SQL server 2005 beta. Since the beta expired on all the VS.net 2005 I thought it would be a good idea to uninstall the lot to save some hard disk space...how wrong I was!!
I have completed the uninstallation instructions for my beta versions of SQLExpress (repeatedly). I have used the manual unistall procedures also. I have physically removed the SqlServer directory from the the Program Files directory. The result is the same. This message appears every time I try to to install the MS SQL Advanced package:
"SQL Server 2005 setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, Net Framework, or SQL 2005. For detailed instructions on uninstalling SQL Server 2005, see the SQL Server 2005 Readme."
The detailed instructions are NOT detailed enough.
I have uninstalled the .NET 2.0 package and re-installed it. The SERVICES window still lists the SQL Server as present even though it is not started.
I have a database which was created in a beta release of SQL Server Express. It was also create when I had the .Net Framework 2.0 Beta installed.
Since then, I have installed .Net Framework 2.0 (Current Release) because that is what was required for MS SQL Server Management Studio Express.
When I try to connect to the DB now it says Cannot connect to server.
I also have the mdf/ldf files. When I try to attach them on another computer running the latest version of SQL Server Express it says:
Database 'Name' connot be upgraded because its non-release version (587) is not supported by this version of SQL Server. You cannot open a database that is incompatible with this vertion of sqlservr.exe. You must re-create the database....
Any ideas how i can get the mdf/ldf files converted over? Or how I can attach the the ealier version of sql server express?? thanks.
I'm a beginner. I'm working at the above making the tour page called authors using a pre loaded data base called pubs. I'm to the point where I'm trying to put the data in the table and getting a server error message SqlData Source could not be found. Can anyone help?

Is it possible to install SQL Server 2005 Eval on a Virtual PC 2007 client running Server 2008 Beta? Nothing says it isn't possible, it says I need to service pack it right away, but before it gets started it comes up with the error 'sqlcu.dll failed to load'. Anyone know what this is all about?
While trying to 'tidy up' I ran into this error when trying to ininstall an SQL 7.0 beta: 'Unable to locate the installation log file C:MSSQL7Uninst.isu Uninstall will not continue'.
Search confirms that such a file is not present. I would reinstall (with the final product) then try Uninstall again, but disk space prohibits this.
