Trying to install MS Sql Server 2005 Express tool-kit on local PC to manage SQL Express on Server. Was able to get this installed on the server but would like to be able to run the tool kit on PC to build reports + publish on reports server. when i try and install on pc i get
Error 1335.The cabinet file '_1979_RTL_x86_enu_VS_SCC_TeamCore.cab required for this installation is corrupt or cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I used the exact same install SQLEXPR_TOOLKIT.EXE on the server & didnot receive this error. Is it possible to run the toolkit on PC + connect to SQL 2005 Express on another server? I am running VWD 2005 Express on client PC + can connect to SQL 2005 EXPRESS on the other server just fine. I needed a way to build + publish reports so I looked at SQL 2005 EXPRESS + REPORTS SERVICES. These are working but I don't want to have to use the server to build the reports + publish them.
I'm getting an error while trying to install SQL Server Express 2005 Express Edition. I'm attaching the log of the installation process here. Please throw some light on the same.

SQL Express installation is bombing out with the "A beta version of the .NET Framework 2.0 or SQL Server was detected on the computer...".
From the log file: Running: PerformSCCAction2 at: 2007/6/26 8:17:27 Loaded DLL:C:WINsystem32msi.dll Version:3.1.4000.2435 Product "{7131646D-CD3C-40F4-97B9-CD9E4E6262EF}" versioned 2.0 is not compatible with current builds of SQL Server.Expected at least version: 2.0.50727.42 The Product Name is ".NET Framework"
Now what is peculiar to me is that 1) this machine should have never had the beta software on it; 2) I have seen people with similar issues except their versioned info always said "versioned 2.0.50727" and the product guid is different, this one only says "2.0"; and 3) I thought that product guid was for the RTM 2.0.50727.42 release!
What is going on here and where is it getting this version information?
I have a laptop with 512Mb RAM, about 4Gb available disk space, processor Intel Pentium 1.4GHz. The O/S is Microsoft XP Professional. As I understand the info given on the SQL Server Express page, it should install under XP Professional.
Now, when I start installation everything seems OK. I get a particularly promising red message informing me that I already have .NET Framework 2.0 installed. However right at the very end I get this message: The SQL Server System Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on the machine <machine name> Error: 2147746132 (0x80040154). Installation then stops.
I tried one of the solutions suggested (this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/201234 ) which involved searching for these 2 files: Crsdll.dll and Crsapi.dll - but couldn't find them. Nor could I find the Microsoft Site ServerBin directory referred to. Yet allegedly SQL Server 2005 Express does install under XP Professional, so this all seems rather odd. Can anyone out there enlighten me?
I should point out that I have a student edition of MS Visual Studio 2003 connecting to the Northwind database installed, and wonder if this is affecting things. Alternatively, is my machine simply not powerful enough (e.g. insuffcient RAM or something)?
Any suggestions gratefully received! I intend to devote Monday (2nd April & a day off for me) to trying to sort it out myself anyway.
This is my first time posting, so be gentle as I'm not exactly sure what the protocol here is regarding posting errors.
I'm encountering an issue with an installation of SQL 2005 Express (SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE) on a Windows 2000 Professional SP4 machine (Intel P4 1.8 Ghz). The following error is what I receive:

The procedure entry point _create_local could not be located in the dynamic link library mscvr80.dll
< OK >
The following is what I see in the error log (C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGFiles):

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'll be monitoring this thread closely. Searches of my error show that other people have received it as well, although no resolution has ever been forthcoming. Thanks in advance.
I'm trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (x86) on my laptop when a setup failure message would show up at the end. When I clicked for more details it has the followings:
Product Version 9.00.3042.00 Message Source setup.rll Message ID 50000 EvtType sharedsetupsharedsetupactions.cpp
And later when I tried to uninstall it from Add/Remove Program the screen would simply flash when I click but nothing happens.
Please let me know what do I need to install the piece correctly, thanks!

I have read carefully numerous previous posts on similar errors. So far I've ruled out: 1. I have an Athlon processor with cache prefetching XP 1700+ 2. I have tried installing with advanced options and selecting local sytem and local service. None of these solutions solved my problem. I still get the same install error and it's quite maddening, since the install program verifies that all of my hardware and software meet the install conditions. I am running XP home, so I'm in a workgroup, not a domain.. I attach the log for the install below.
Any more suggestions? Thanks, gtc.

SQL Server Express update KB921896 fails to install with error code 00002b2. I've tried this update several times with no luck. HELP offered is no help. Can't find this error code, and there is no text with the code.
I have encountered an error (as shown below) when attempting to install the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition 9.00.1399.06 on on my XP SP2 pc.
the file: "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGFilesSummary.txt"
show the following messages:

Maybe that's not a fatal error, but the SQLExpress service does not get installed.
I need help! When installing SQL Server 2005 Express on one machine, I get an error with the following summary.txt Machine : xxx Product: MSXML 6.0 Parser Product version: 6,10,1129,0 Installed: Failed. Log file: c:Program Files... (see below) Error Number: 1625
in log file from above. MainEngineThread is returning 1625 This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.
The person trying to install has administration privileges. BTW: The computer shares a wireless internet connection with other computers in the office but the clients or not setup to share data. My user is installing SQL, the data, and app on a single client. The MS Sql Server 2005 express seems to install on all other boxes. Thanks for your time.
Have run about six downlowds and all fail with same problem. The installer seems to be missing a file. all other parts of Viz studio Exp install but NOT the sql server exp.
Am I the only one getting this ? and if so what is the problem?. All other Visual Dev Express parts have instald OK.
Run on XP home SP2. As I posted this I noticed the compiler time stamp is 4 days ahead of real time ???

I am having the same problem as Michael, with the exception that my laptop is running windows XP SP2.
BUT when I look at the SETUP LOG FILE there is NOTHING in it. This is what I get:

Downloading and installing VS 2008 Express also created a Miscrosoft SQL Server folder. How do I install the SQL Server 2005 Express? The following is what I found from the HELP menu bar of the VS 2008 Express. Where can I find the sqlexpr.exe? TIA,Jeffrey
To install SQL Server Express To begin installation, double-click sqlexpr.exe. Note: SQL Server Express is available as a self-extracting executable file (sqlexpr.exe) from both the Visual Studio 2005 CD and the SQL Server Express Web site. SQLEXPR.EXE installs on x86-based computers and to the 32-bit subsystem (WOW64). For more information, see Hardware and Software Requirements (SQL Server Express)
I had some issues on my server and had to uninstall .Net Framework 2.0, SQL Server 2005 Express, and SQL Express Toolkit. I installed SQL Server 2005 Express and it seemed to be ok.
Then my problems all started when I tried to install SQL Express Toolkit because I needed to install DTS Wizard again, and it errors out and wouldn't let me install it. So I uninstalled everything that's listed above again.
I then tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express again, and on the second from last screen, while its listing all the components and configuring them, I get the following error as it's configuring the last component... which was the SQL Server Database Services.
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup ----------------------------------------------------------- The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online topics, "How to: View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually."
I tried to re-install the SQL Server Express another 7 times wth no luck.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.
I installed VS 2008 Express with an option to download SQL Server 2005 Express. I noticed there is a '90' folder under my Microsoft SQL Server folder. I assumed this the folder for SQL Server 2005 Express. How do I set up my SQL Server2005 Express, so that I can use some sample databases for my VS 2008 Express? Any difference for SQL Server 2005 Express between VS 2008 Expressdownload and SQL Server 2005 Express download? TIA,Jeffrey
Got this message during install. Veritas pages not much help points to a black help file...
Any advice would be appreciated

I've tried looking for a solution in other threads but I couldn't find anything that was completely the same as my situation. I got a new pc at work and I've tried installing SQL Server 2005 on it but everytime I try to install it, regardless of services included or excluded with the install, I cannot get through the install without this error. Below is the excerpt from the Summary.txt log file.

I've searched for and found similar problems that deal with the microsoft.sqlserver.notificationservices.dll not being found but I haven't found a fix that worked for me. These are the fixes I've refered to thus far.
The answer that seems to fix this problem for everyone is to set the MSDTC service login as the NT AUTHORITYNetworkService account. The problem for me is that this is already set to this profile and I've tried resetting the services and rebooting the machine. I did not have a problem with my old machine, which as far as I can tell, is the same configuration, so I know this install should work.
I'm running Windows XP SP2. This is not the upgrade to SQL Server 2005 SP2, this is the original disk that came with Visual Studio 2005.
Has anyone else faced this issue where changing the MSDTC login wasn't the solution? Also, this is my first post, so I apologize if I've left anything out. Just let me know if you want any other information.
I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit): Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
I downloaded the SSEUtilSetup.EXE and extracted the SSEUtil.exe to a folder of C:drive of my PC that is Windows XP Pro. I plan to learn the CLR programming via user-instance of SQL Server Express. I need to have SQL Server Express Utility installed. Please help and tell me how I can install SSEUtil.exe in my PC and how I use it to interact with SQL Server Express.
I'm using the login/roles from Visual Studio 2005 in a website. Is MS SQL Express mandatory? I already have MS SQL 2000 on the box. Is there any way to use that instead? And if so, will I need to install MS SQL on the box I'm building the webiste on? Thanks, oilcan
I had SQLExpress on my machine. I was having problems so I deinstalled it using Add/remove programs. deinstalled all components (Microsoft SQL Express).
However, I still see the following when I do Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuraiton tools.- 3 options listed.
I then tried to install SQLExpress again - but it will not let me saying that components are already installed.
Can someone help - 1. I do not understand why still seeing SQL Server 2005 under Programs. Nothing is listed in add/remove programs.
I am trying to install SQL Express When the install process tries to install SQL Native Client it fails because there is no install package. I have tried twice and it failed at the same place
I tried to install the SQL Express 2005 on my PC several times. However, I got the follwowing message at checking the configuration. "Setup has detected a probelm with Microsoft .Net Framewrok installation and cannot proceed. Microsoft .Net Farmework 2.0 is either not installed on this system or is corrupt."
I installed .NET 2.0 and got the message, "Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 has been successfully installed." The message seems to complete the installation of .Net but acutually failed installing the SQL. Plaese give me advises.
