MSSQL 2005 Installing Reporting Service Issues
Feb 22, 2008
Hi All,
I think I need someone to look over my issues with installing the Reporting service. So, if anyyou could take a look at this would be much appreciated.
In the Configured Report Server window for the Database setup, I get green lights in the Task Status but, a yellow triangle status telling me that €œalthough saving the database connection succeeded, the report server can not access internal information€? and €œ If you are configuring a scale-out deployment, this feature is not supported by this edition. To continue use another report server database or remove the encryption keys from the current database before initializing the report server€?. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks

Dear All,
I am making web application using Asp.net C#(Visual Studio2005). And Sql server 2000 as a back End upgraded with service pack 3 and analysis service.
Now I am trying to install sql server 2000 report services. But I run SQL2KRSSP1-ENG.EXE setup
Then following error occurs
The upgrade patch can not be installed by window installer because the program to be upgraded may be missing , or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
I redownload the same exe to other location. And again run but getting same error
Please Guide me or atleast give some help full link.
thanks

Hi All,
I have successfully installed MSSQL server 2005 on virtual machine running on XPSP2. No error messages were shown durring the installation. Still I do not see it working at all. There are no services insltalled for the SQL Server and it can not be accessed by any other applications.
If anyone has an idea why this is happening, please help?!
Thanks,
Georgi

Hi,
for some reason, when I've installed visual studio 2005, I didn't install also SQL server.
Than I've updated VS with Service Pack 1 (thank god, I was trying unsucesfully for about 2 weeks :/ ).
Than I want to install MSSQL 2005 and an error came up:
Message displayed to user
SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005. Use Add or Remove Programs to remove these components, and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. For detailed instructions on uninstalling SQL Server 2005, see the SQL Server 2005 Readme.
SQL Server Setup has detected that the following required component is not installed: Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1. To proceed, download and install the Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50380 , and then run SQL Server Setup again.
1. The http link leads to main page of MS Download Centre.
2. I have Installer 3.1. (version of file c:windowssystem32msiexec.exe said so)
3. I really do not have any beta version of any mentioned SW. I never had.
So I think the issue could be, that installer is checking for not updated version of Visual Studio.
(I was searching through net/msdn and seems no one had this problem (maybe wrong keywords, though) ).
I'm running setup.exe from CD1.
Uninstalling of VS Service Pack 1 is not an option. I really don't want to spent another week by installing it.
Please tell that there is some another way :) .
Thanks a lot.

Hi there
We've got 2 servers: one is dedicated database server (NSWNOFUSQD01) and the other one is application/web server (NSWNOFUAPA01).
We've installed the SQL server Database Services, Notification Services, Integration Services and Workstation components, Books Online and development tools into NSWNOFUSQD01 (databases server).
We leave Reporting Service cause we don't want to install the application on this box but we want to install onto different box but the reporting database need to install into NSWNOFUSQD01. So we've tried to install the reporting services into NSWNOFUAPA01 - app server. But while installing it we don't have an option to tell that the database is pointing to different server?!?!.
Any ideas? Are missing step here? I saw these environment working - web instaaling on the app server and database installing on database server.
Thanks

I am doing drillthrough from ReportA to ReportB via the Date field on ReportA. In Report Manager, all is well. However, when run through a custom app using asp.net and the report viewer control, the behavior was erratic. sometimes it would work. sometimes it would merely bring up the ReportA again and i would have to click Date again and then it would work.
a coworker recommended the Report Viewer fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933137. Since the redistributable was not present in Add/Remove programs on my test box, i installed the full version. I then started up the .net app in debug and ran ReportA and drilled through to ReportB several times and could not make it fail. I was happy.
Since the redistributable was not present on the production box, i installed the full install there as well. However, the erratic report viewer behavior continued.
I decided to try runnign ReportB directly instead of via the drill through from ReportA. ReportB had always run perfectly on its own. When i try to use the graphical date selector control, the results are different depending on the machine I use.
1. If i am using my test box, and i run ReportB directly via the app in debug mode, i get a runtime error indicating Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required. It then points to Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd at the GetObjectPosition(obj) function.
2. If i am using my test box and go out to the live production website, i get the same runtime error.
3. If i am using another machine and go out to the live production website, the data selector control merely seems to refresh the report. This is the same behavior i get when using the production server and going out to the live website.
The redistributable has been uninstalled from both the test box and the production box. This did not change the behavior described above.
All of the Microsoft.ReportViewer items in C:Windowsassembly indicate version 8.0.0.0.
Any help would be grand. Also, please let me know if I should cross post this in the .Net forums.
Thank you.

Please help!
I have an asp.net 2.0 web app that integrates with reporting services. Since installing sql server 2005 sp2 I get the following error when trying to access reports:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
This data source is configured to use Windows integrated security. Windows integrated security is either disabled for this report server or your report server is using Trusted Account mode. (rsWindowsIntegratedSecurityDisabled)
I've checked the directory security for the report server website in IIS and integrated windows authentication is checked.
I can't understand what has caused the problem, before sp2 the reports were working fine.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Andy

Hello All,
I just performed a fresh install of MSSQL 2005 Server Developer Edition on my XPSP2 machine along with MSSQL 2005 SP1 and I noticed that errors are not being reported in the Windows Event Viewer. Is there a way to enable/disable logging here?
I need to view these logs because when the tasks > 'copy database' task fails it submits its error in the Windows Event Log however since I reinstalled MSSQL 2005 these log entries don't appear here.
thanks in advance.

Hi,
I have problem during first configuration of Reporting Services from MS SQL 2005 Server Express with Advanced Services SP2. The error occurs when configuring virtual directory (Reporting Services Configuration Manager -> Report Server Virtual Directory). When I try to create new virtual directory I can see following messages:
Number of errors: 0
Create Virtual Directory
The virtual directory was created and assigned.
Changing Secure Connection Level
After last message Windows reports that SQL Server 2005 Reporting Configuration Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close (and I can send report to Microsoft).
IIS shows that virtual directory under default web site was created.
Evenet viewer (application log) shows .NET Framework 2.0 error:
EventType clr20r3, P1 rsconfigtool.exe, P2 9.0.3042.0, P3 45cd6ee2, P4 rsconfigtool, P5 9.0.242.0, P6 45cd6ee2, P7 15a, P8 5, P9 system.nullreferenceexception, P10 NIL
My environment:
MS SQL Reporting Services Version 9.00.3042.00
Windows XP Proffessional SP2
IIS 5.1
all components are fresh new installations. The only additional configuration I've made was adding IWAM_<hostname> as WebServiceAccount, all other configuration is default.
Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards

Hi there,
I'm trying to install the common components for SQL 2005 on a server that already has Reporting Services 2005 installed on it. It keeps comng up with an error:
"To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter."
The Reporting Services install has had SP2 applied to it, would that be what is messing up the install?
I have very little experience with SQL so any info would be helpful.
Thanks!

Hi Folks
I've downloaded & installed Visual Web developer Express and SQL Server Express and now I'm trying to install the Reporting Add-In available here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/downloads/default.aspx
It downloads just fine and, just as the installation progress bar is almost done and the status text says 'Registering Product', I get the following error message:
"There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personell or package vendor"
Running VWD shows the ReportViewer control now appears in the 'data' group. I can add it to a form, but I cannot create a new report, as clicking on 'Design a new report' under the ReportView Tasks popup menu does nothing.
Any ideas, please?
Thanks
Andrew

Hi all,
Can someone tell me where to download the SQL 2005 Reporting Service? I looked all over the MSDN subscriber download site and could not find it.
And I have the SQL 2005 developer edition DVD, could not find the reporting service in there either. Is the SQL 2005 Reporting Service now available only in the SQL 2005 enterprise DVD or something?
Thanks

I follow the RS Configuration tool and create new reportserver database (ReportServerWSS) and choose Sharepoint integration mode, then I go to WSS central admin again, re-configure Manaage Integration Setting, Grant Database Access and Set Server Default, all goes well.
Then I drop the RS web part again, and it asks me to "You must first select a report to display in this Web Part. Do this by opening the tool pane and specifying the path and file name of the Reporting Services report that you would like to show. Alternatively, you can connect the Web Part to another Web Part on the page that provides a document path."
So I put http://abc/reports, then target folder, however it gave error saying "The item 'http://abc/reports' cannot be found. (rsItemNotFound)".
Also if I launch http://abc/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx here is the error I got:
"The operation is not supported on a report server that is configured to run in SharePoint integrated mode. (rsOperationNotSupportedSharePointMode) Get Online Help"
Does this mean I can no longer browser through Get Online Help"
Does this mean I can no longer browser through http://abc/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?
I also notice at the RS Configuration Tool Report Manager Virtual Directory is grayed out, it says: Report Manager is not avaliable when using SP integration.
This is not good if I can only use WSS to browse my reports, I wonder how I can still be able to browse http://abc/reports, do I have to switch back to native mode?

However when I move the mouse over the image in the report preview,

There is also another property called tooltiplocid.
What is that? when and how should we use it?

Hi,
I am facing a problem in Reporting Service 2005 custom security(formsauthentication).
I have implemented Custom Security(using sample code in msdn site) Reporting Service 2005.
When i try to view report from my webapplication(within iframe) it redirects me to Logon.aspx page instead of showing result. If both Reporting Service 2005 and Webapplication is present in the same machine then there is no issues it is working fine, the session is establised. If both are (Reporting Services 2005 and Webapplication) in different in machine then the above mention error is occured ie., it redirects to Logon.aspx page. Please help.

Hi friends,
I am developing reports using SQL Server 2005 Reporting service
I want to pass optional parameters to Report using dropdown
I filled dataset using EmpId and EmpName. and assigned this dataset to
query the values.
I checked properties for Report Parameters of Allow Null, Allow Blank values
Even i checked this properties, it enforces me to Enter some value for dropdown while running or previewing the report
I don't want to enforce the user that value must be selected.
In short, How we can able to pass multiple parameters which are not mandatory.
Pls reply me ASAP
Any suggestion is appreciated
Thanks in Advance.
