Is there a service pack for management studio? I don't mean studio express I mean the full version. If so where can I find it because I've looked and it only appears to be a service pack for Express which i don't want.
I've got the following installed on my local machine (XP Pro, sp 4, SQL 2000 tools) Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 9.00.1399.00 Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools 2005.090.1399.00 Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2000.085.1117.00 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Microsoft MSXML 2.6 3.0 5.0 6.0 Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180 Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.42 Operating System 5.1.2600
It keeps bomging and giving errors.
I can't find a specific service pack for the tools...maybe there isn't one? Do I need to install the regular sp2 server service pack?
hopefully, the subject addresses my problem. the server is running like a charm.
Service pack 2 has been installed. The only connection I remember creating after the initial installation is a remote connection.
I've checked to make sure I am allowing multiple protocols.
I am not able to get a response from the following:
C:Usersamfrizzell>SQLCmd -S .aaron-toshiba -E -Q "SELECT @@Version" HResult 0xFFFFFFFF, Level 16, State 1 SQL Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF]. Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : An error has occurred while establi shing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failu re may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.. Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : Login timeout expired.
The instance is running as I can connect to it through Visual Studio 2005.
What did I do wrong? I could really use this application in order for me to develop websites. It's sort of a pain to go to another computer to use the more powerful features of SQL Server 2005 Server management Studio (standard edition).
I have installed the advanced toolkit for Microsoft Sql server 2005, with the SQL server Business Intelligence Development Studio but I don't have the option the create a Integration Service project. I only have the Report Server project option available.
Do I have to download something else to get it?
I do not have a SQL server instance installed on the machine I installed the toolkit on.
Hi, I understand from previous threads that installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 on the desktop client can speed up the response rate of the Visual Studio 2005 Business Intelligence Tools.
However after logging on as an administrator and installing Service Pack 2, Service Pack 2 returned no errors. However after launching Visual Studio and clicking on the about dialog box the version reported was still €œRTM.050727-4200€? where I was expecting to see €œSP.050727-7600€?.
I understood that I applied the same service pack to my copy of SQL Server on my laptop and the upgrade worked successfully.
Hi, for some reason, when I've installed visual studio 2005, I didn't install also SQL server. Than I've updated VS with Service Pack 1 (thank god, I was trying unsucesfully for about 2 weeks :/ ).
Than I want to install MSSQL 2005 and an error came up:
Message displayed to user SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio, .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005. Use Add or Remove Programs to remove these components, and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. For detailed instructions on uninstalling SQL Server 2005, see the SQL Server 2005 Readme. SQL Server Setup has detected that the following required component is not installed: Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1. To proceed, download and install the Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=50380 , and then run SQL Server Setup again.
1. The http link leads to main page of MS Download Centre. 2. I have Installer 3.1. (version of file c:windowssystem32msiexec.exe said so) 3. I really do not have any beta version of any mentioned SW. I never had.
So I think the issue could be, that installer is checking for not updated version of Visual Studio. (I was searching through net/msdn and seems no one had this problem (maybe wrong keywords, though) ).
I'm running setup.exe from CD1.
Uninstalling of VS Service Pack 1 is not an option. I really don't want to spent another week by installing it. Please tell that there is some another way :) . Thanks a lot.

hi all, i have SQL 2205 with SP1 installed on my machine. and i m not bale to connect to Report Server using SQL management studio as well as from web.
i have installed reporting server and database on same machine. i tried using
but i am not bale to connect i am getting "Service Unavailable" page.
and when i try to connect using SQL Management Studio with "servername/instance" as well as "http://localhost/reportserver" i am getting a error saying.
=================================== Cannot connect to http://localhost/reportserver.The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)
===================================
but if i try and connect to other reporting server on other machine using web http://servername/reportserver i m able to connect it. but dont know whats the problem on my machine.
I have recently installed the SQL Server Management Studio Express but I do not find Management Tools in order to create scheduled backups and shrinking of the databases. I was under the impression that this should be included in the Management Studio. I use the SQL 2005 Express for smaller customers who run the SQL on a desktop unit. I need a way to backup the data to a server machine for backup purposes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.
I have a database in my "App_Data" folder of my visual studio project. I can view it fine in Visual Studio's built-in tools for managing a database attached to a solution. However i recently started playing around with the SQL Server Management Studio Express program. When i attach my database to Management Studio, and try to run my program it crashes. I think it might be a permissions error?!? When i detatch it and reattach it in visual studio it runs fine again. Any suggestions? ThanksJason
I am new to visual studio and I am still not sure of all its components and features.
I installed visual studio 2005 standard edition but cannot find SQL Server Management Studio?
I guess this must be because it is not included with Visual studio 2005 standard. Is it included with VS 2005 professional?
I want to add pictures of products to my shopping site using an SQL database and I’ve been told that SQL Server Management studio is required as it is a graphical tool.
How would I go about obtaining the SQL server management studio. There seems to be different versions of SQL server that it is confusing to know which one to purchase.
Will the SQL server 2005 version that comes with Visual studio standard be sufficient for me now right? I want to create a shopping site with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of products. I want to use an SQL server 2005 database. The database will include ‘dynamically generated’ product images if that is the correct terminology.
My goodness, it seems I still have so much to learn.
I have created a database under management studio and i want it to be connected in visual studio but it failed the error msgs said that the database can't be connected coz the database with same name exits but that is not true
How do i get the database that i am using in visual studio into my SQL server management studio? i need to create some scripts to create stored procedures on a live server.
In Microsoft.COM website do we have a comparision between Management Studio and Management Studio express in term of functions and features of the tool ? (Not SQL Server and SQL Server Express !)
Does Anyone know if there is a way to verify the SQL Service Pack Version on 7.0 on Windows 2000 Advanced server?
I'm getting this results for select @@version
Microsoft SQL Server 7.00 - 7.00.623 (Intel X86) Nov 27 1998 22:20:07 Copyright (c) 1988-1998 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 1)
I installed Service Pack 5 on SQL 7.0 successfully, but when I go back to run @@version, it gives me Service Pack 2 which is the old pack. Does anyone know why and had an experience with this?? Thanks wonderful people!!!
I have a cluster server, with SP3 coming out I wanted to upgrade the SP2 I have right now, when I start SP3 installation it starts and quickly exits from the program. DO I need to uncluster the server before applying SP3? or there is a way arround it?
has anyone had this experience before after we installed service pack 2 our jobs are taking about 10hrs, some run it says it's succesfull but it didn't update the tables.
I have installed service pack-1 on SQL SERVER 7.0 Standard Edition. After the pack is installed @@version is still showing 7.00.623 instead of 7.00.699 HELP !!!
Does anyone else have any concern about this Watson technology creeping in to SQL Server in SP3? I don't like it in Explorer and I'm sure not going to like it in SQL Server!
BTW, Forrest article about the new security patches at http://www.databasejournal.com/news/article.php/1475241 is in error, I think, when it refers to SP4.
Is the sql server 2000 service pack 3 worth applying to production database server or should I still wait. i do have sql 2000 service pack 2 on the server ?
I am binding bunch of SQL object change t/sql code into one service pack and then distribute to around 1500 databases.
gradually, I feel I need to put the table/proc/trigger/field/datatype/data size.... all the changes into a kind of database so that could let me or other developers quickly pull out all the change info against a particular object, say table customer. It may have changed 15 times already, from enlarge customerName data size from 30 to 50, add a unique constraint to force the customerName uniquenss, add an index on companyPhone field, modify a delete trigger when an customer becomes inactive to append to a historyCustomer table before delete it....
Of course, the db should also include servicePack release date, each object release reason, approved by.....
At first, it sounds simple and not a big deal, but when I draw something and found the relationship between table--field--datatype--size--constraint is not so simple. Is there something even 'raw' available there already, so I might take a short cut and move on?
