Many-to-many SQL Query (Failed To Enable Constraints)

Feb 28, 2006

Hi,

I have two tables (Accounts and Contacts) that have a many-to-many relationship, maintained by the AccountContactLinks table.

I would like to populate a Contacts DropDownList with all of the Contacts associated with the Account Selected in Accounts DropDownList.

Here is the (SP) SQL Query I'm trying to make work:

SELECT Contact.ContactID,
Contact.ContactLastName,
Contact.ContactFirstName,
Contact.ContactLastName + ', ' + Contact.ContactFirstName AS ContactName
FROM Contact INNER JOIN AccountContactLinks ON Contact.ContactID = AccountContactLinks.ContactID
WHERE (AccountContactLinks.AccountID = @AccountID)
ORDER BY Contact.ContactLastName
END

I keep getting the following error:

Failed to enable constraints.  One or more rows contains values violating non-null, unique or foreign key constraints.

I haven't implemented any non-null, unique or foreign key constraints between any of these tables, so suspect that I've got the SQL Query wrong.

Thanks very much.

Regards

Gary

UGH! Failed To Enable Constraints. One Or More Rows Contain Values Violating Non-null, Unique, Or Foreign-key Constraints.

Jan 9, 2007

I know this is probably a flick of a switch but I cannot figure out which switch.  Setup is SQL Server / Stored Procedures / DAL / BLL(skipped for testing) / PL.  The stored procedure queries from only one table and two columns are ignored because they are being phased out.  I can run the stored procedure and preview the data in the DAL but when I create a page with an ODS linked to the DAL and a GridView I get this error.  I checked every column that does not allow nulls and they all have values.  I checked unique columns (ID is the only unique and is Identity=Yes in the table definition).  I checked foreign-key columns for values that are not in the foreign table and there are none.  Any ideas why do I get this?

Failed To Enable Constraints. One Or More Rows Contain Values Violating Non-null, Unique, Or Foreign-key Constraints.

Jan 17, 2008

Hi,
I am getting the above error when trying to load a report into my Web Application, I have tracked the error down to one specific field in my database. Even though this field is a NVarChar field and is of size 30 it would seem that  there is an issue returning the value from the field. I can write it into the database no problems but when I try to get it out of the database it returns the above error.
e.g
MOB 401.908.804 - Fails
0401.907.324 - okay
8239 9082 (pager) - fails
Anyone got an idea on how to fix this????
Regards..
Peter.

Failed To Enable Constraints

Jul 31, 2006

I have to admit I'm pretty new to ASP.net.
I'm trying to insert a row of data into my SQLExpress database table "Prets"
I'm getting the user_ID from the table "Membres"
Here's the code I have:
Imports System.Web.UI.PageImports System.Security.PrincipalImports WiseNetTableAdaptersPartial Class membre_sec_Pret_demande_pret    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page    Protected Sub submit_btn_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles submit_btn.Click        Dim User As String = My.User.Name        Dim pretAdapter As New PretsTableAdapter        Dim membreAdapter As New MembresTableAdapter        pretAdapter.AjouterPret(Convert.ToInt32(membreAdapter.GetUserIDbyName(User)), Convert.ToDecimal(montant_txt.Text), Convert.ToString(raison_txt.Text))    End SubEnd Class
And here's the error I get at runtime:

Failed To Enable Constraints

Apr 15, 2007

Hello there, I have a table under SQL2005 express with 8 fields with a primaryKey defined. In my BLL in the table adapter there is one "SELECT DISTINCT prodCAT from prods" The prodCAT is a nvarchar(50) and it is not part of an index or primaryKey.When I preview the data from my BLL I get the correct data.I defined a new web form (aspx) and put a ddl (dropDownList) with an objectdataSource that relates to the above sql function/command and I get a"Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating
non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints." BTW when I defined the above SQL in the BLL I got a "The new command text makes the function return data with schema different from the schema of the main query" Any suggestions???

Typed Dataset Failed To Enable Constraints

Sep 11, 2006

Hi, I am  trying to use a typed dataset created using the Query builder which returns the data correctly when I use 'Execute Query' in query builder but as soon as I attempt to return a dataset using the GetData method created I get the following error:         Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints. Which is not very helpful, any ideas where the problem may be? I have tried switching off enforce constraints and setting the NullValue property of all strings to 'Emtpy' bu that has no effect. Thanks in advance

How To Disable/enable Jobs For Database That Has Failed Over

Nov 22, 2006

Hi,

I currently have serverA importing data from an AS400 oledb connection and serverB on hot-standby as a mirror. The data import is being performed via an SSIS scheduled job.

I've yet to implement any solution in the following case:
If the database on serverA fails, it will failover to the mirror. But the jobs will still be on serverA. Ideally, I'm assuming the jobs should not run on serverB since it will be attempting to update the mirrored database. So, I am wondering if both servers can have identical copies of SSIS packages and jobs and simply (?) enable or disable them based on which server will be hosting the principal database.

Is there any solution where the jobs can automatically be disabled on the server with the mirrored database and enabled on the principal database depending on its status?

How To Enable Ah Hoc Query In SQL 2000

May 10, 2007

Hi guys
I have a program which imports data into sql server from csv files. This program uses the something like this

CREATE PROCEDURE MyImport
(
@FileName AS VARCHAR(200)
)
AS
SET NOCOUNT ON
DECLARE @SQL VARCHAR(4000)
SET @SQL = ' SELECT *
FROM OpenRowset(''MSDASQL'', ''Driver={Microsoft Text Driver (*.txt; *.csv)}; DefaultDir=C:;'', ''SELECT * FROM ' + QUOTENAME(@FileName) + '' + ''') as t
'
EXEC (@SQL)

when i excute this i get a permission error saying the account i specified in the web config doesn't have rights to run these type of scripts. I tried using the sa account which works. But its not recommended to setup applications to access the database using the sa account.
i did some research and i found out that yon can actually enable that by change a registry key. But i cant find the MSDASQL datasource under ms sql server providers in the registry.
Any other ways i can enable this?

How To Enable The Query Designer Toolbar

Dec 6, 2007

How is the Query Designer toolbar enabled?

Clicking Query, Dsign Query in Editor opens a Query designer in a model window that does not use the query tool bar. Oening a New Query pane does not enable it.

The nly way I have found to activate the query tool bar is to:

1. Right click a table then click open table.
2. Stop retreving data. (if it is a large table)

Now the Query Designer toolbar is enabled.

What is the correct way to enable the Query Designer toolbar?

Need Help With A Query That Retrieves DEFAULT Constraints

Dec 6, 2005

Hi guys,

I am trying to write a query that seaches for all DEFAULT constraints in a database and prints the column with the default value, the value of the default, and the name of the default constraint.

So far I have the two queries that let me get all the information I need.

SELECT Name FROM sysobjects
WHERE xtype = 'D'

SELECT column_default, column_name FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
WHERE column_default IS NOT Null

I am unable to merge them into one query. I cannot seem to find a commun field to both of them.

Many thanks in advance.

Query Performance On Paritioned Views With Check Constraints

Mar 21, 2007

Hi,

I have come across this problem with SQL server both on 2000 and 2005. I am stating an example here.

I have two partitioned tables and a view on top of both tables as below:
create table [dbo].[Table_1]
(
[TableID] INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED
CHECK NOT FOR REPLICATION ([TableID] BETWEEN 1 AND 999),
[AnyOtherColumn] int NOT NULL ,
) ON [Primary]
GO

create table [dbo].[Table_2]
(
[TableID] INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED
CHECK NOT FOR REPLICATION ([TableID] BETWEEN 1000 AND 1999),
[AnyOtherColumn] int NOT NULL ,
) ON [Primary]
GO
create view TableView
as
select * from Table_1
union all
select * from Table_2
GO

Note the NOT FOR REPLICATION clause on the check constraint on the TableID column.

I then ran the query execution plan for the following query on both SQL server 2000 and 2005.
select * from TableView where TableID = 10

On both the versions the execution plan shows and Index seek on both the tables in the view. This means that my partitioning is not working. If I remove the primary key constraint from the TableID column, the same query on the view shows a table scan on all the underlying tables. This is even worse.

Next, create the same tables and views again, now without the NOT FOR REPLICATION clause on the check constraint as show below:
create table [dbo].[Table_1]
(
[TableID] INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED
CHECK ([TableID] BETWEEN 1 AND 999),
[AnyOtherColumn] int NOT NULL ,
) ON [Primary]
GO

create table [dbo].[Table_2]
(
[TableID] INTEGER PRIMARY KEY NONCLUSTERED
CHECK ([TableID] BETWEEN 1000 AND 1999),
[AnyOtherColumn] int NOT NULL ,
) ON [Primary]
GO

create view TableView
as
select * from Table_1
union all
select * from Table_2
GO

Now run the query execution plan for the same query again.

select * from TableView where TableID = 10

This time you would see that it does an index scan only on the first parititon table. This time it proves that the partitioning works.

I would like to know why does the NOT FOR REPLICATION clause in the check constraint make such a huge difference?

Is it a bug in SQL server?

Or am I missing any thing?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Newbie Query - Replicate To Hot Standby And How To Enable The Hot Standby For Access

Nov 14, 2007

I've been reading a million and one posts on replication

My scenario is that i have a live SQL 2000 server. In a DR invokation, i'e i've lost my live sever, i want to be able to access the same data at the DR (SQL 2000) site and have it accessable to the users. DR server has a different name to the live box.

Replicate

Master
CRMDatabase

Data changes all the time but can have hourly replication of transaction logs for this example. I've currently researched a sp called update logons but this has to be fed each account name to enable them on the new server. There must be a way to activate all CRMDatabase logons with the new server?

Could someone be kind enough to lead me through a step by step guide on the best solution.

Thanks a lot

Failed Insert Query

The conflict occurred in database'newdatabase', table 'Contacts', column 'ContactID'.The statement has been terminated.<-------There is a relationship between the contacts table (Primary keyContactID) and the contactsevent (foreign key ContactID) table. I guessthe error being flagged up here is that some contacts don't exist inthe new database, therefore referential intergretory won't allow itbeing copied. I thought I could get around this using:"WHERE Exists (SELECT ContactID FROM newdatabase.dbo.contacts)"Note I've also tried:"WHERE Exists (SELECT * FROM newdatabase.dbo.contacts)"What am I doing wrong? Many Thanks!Alex

Query Execution Failed

Aug 24, 2007

Hi,

I have a group of reports using a shared datasource. Going to the preview of the report works fine in the report designer, but when I try and view it from a browser (deployed on a website), it gives the error:

"An error has occurred during report processing.

Query execution failed for data set 'DataSet1_ticketInfo'.

If there's a problem with it, I don't get why it works in preview mode. I'm using SQL server 2005.

Thanks.

Mar 6, 2008

I have several reports that are working great on my report server. However, one of my reports "ReportB" is launched as a hyperlink from "ReportA" through the use of a custom function which uses a little javascript to simply open a new browser to the URL of ReportB along with passing a parateter through that URL. I can get it all to work great on my local machine I'm using for development. But when I deploy it to my production server I get the following problems (Please note ReportA works fine, it is ReportB that gives me these problems):

1. When running report in web browser on my local machine - An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for data set 'FDQW'. For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local machine, or enable remote errors.

2. When running the report in a web browser on the report server itself (also is the SQL server containing the data) - An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for data set 'FDQW'. Must declare the scalar variable "@DocNo".

Like I said above... when I deploy to my local RS on my development machine I get neither of the above problems. I have tried changing SQL roles, RS Execution accounts, database connection credentials, all kinds of permission realated things and can't get it to work.

I am not using a stored procedure as a data source. Here is a copy of my data set query if it helps:

SELECT DocumentHeaders.DocNo, DocumentHeaders.SoldToCompany, DocumentHeaders.SoldToContact, DocumentHeaders.SalesRep,
DocumentHeaders.DocName, DocumentHeaders.DocDate, DocumentHeaders.GrandTotal, DocumentItems.LineNumber, DocumentItems.Description,
DocumentItems.QtyTotal, DocumentItems.ExtendedPrice
FROM DocumentHeaders INNER JOIN
DocumentItems ON DocumentHeaders.ID = DocumentItems.DocID
WHERE (DocumentHeaders.DocNo = @DocNo) AND (LEN(CONVERT(varchar, DocumentItems.Description)) > 0)

Thank you
Max

Failed Login For A WorkGroup When Attempting To Run A Query

Sep 13, 2005

Hi all,

I have an application which works with SQL Server. When the application
attempts to load a page it needs to run certain queries. When it
attempts to run a particular query it fails but I catch the exception
and then log it. The following is logged:

System.Data.Ole.Db.OleDbException: Login failed for user 'CWAMB01DWH01ASPENT'.

Now what I don't understand is that this is the work group that ASPNET
is run under, and I am running other queries to the database via SQL
Server authentication. Why am I getting a failed login for this
workgroup? Do I need to create a new Login for the Server in SQL
Server, and then create a new user for the database with the same
username as the Workgroup name? If so, then how does the password work
for the SQL Server as the workgroup (CWAMB01DWH01ASPENT) obviously
doesn't have a password.

Thanks, and I hope I have explain my problem clear enough.

But when i deploy it to my virtual Report Server, I get this error messege. Why is it doing this? and where can i see errors for this type of stuff, so i can figure this out. This uses the same Datasource as the report linked from it. That report works fine, why wont this one? any ideas?

The database has another publication, that was created prior to upgrade to sql server 2005 from sql server 2000 sp4. This publication is working ok, and there are no problems when running the snapshot agent for this publication.

The publications are using filtered articles, and all properties for the publications are the same.

Any help to solve this problem will be much apreciated.

SQL Server 2012 :: Query If Extract Failed And / Or Succeed The Same Day

Nov 19, 2014

We extract 10k tables every night and I have a table that keeps track of ETL tables that fail or succeed. I would like to know if a table fails during the night and nobody kicks off another job to fix it during the day.

The table structure looks like this:

| Table_Name | Time_Start | Status | Duration | Time_End |

Table_Name = varchar(20)
Time_Start = DateTime
Status varchar(7) = Success or Error
Duration = Number
Time_End = DateTime

Select Table_Name into #MyTempTable
From ETL.STATS_Table
Where Status = 'Error'
AND Cast(Time_Start as Date) = GetDate()

How do I take the table names from #MyTempTable and find out if they where successful for the same date? Duration time and Time_End fields aren't needed.

SQL Server 2005: Full Text Query Failed

Sep 3, 2007

Hi guys,

I am getting a really weird error message when executing a full-text query on SQL server 2005:

-------------------------
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e14'
The execution of a full-text query failed. "The form specified for the subject is not one supported or known by the specified trust provider."
-------------------------

Just to give a bit of background: we recently moved our database from a machine with SQL Server 2003 to a different computer with SQL Server 2005. This is when the error started showing up.

The query is not particular complex:

SELECT * FROM myTable M INNER JOIN FREETEXTTABLE(myTable, *, 'keyword') ct ON ct.[KEY] = M.Resource_ID

It's the "Freetexttable" bit that creates the error message. I have done some research on google, but I can't seem to find a solution.

Has anybody come across this error before? Any ideas on how I could fix it?

Msg 7619 Full-text Query Failed. Service Is Not Running.

Mar 5, 2007

I am getting following error when query using a full-text index:

select *
from workitemlongtexts
where Contains(words, 'test');

==error message==
Msg 7619, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The execution of a full-text query failed. "Service is not running."

I have verified that
1. msftesql service is running,
2. I even rebuilt the full-text index and it didn't help
3. my full-text crawl job is running fine
4. my DB is full-text enabled

Can someone explain what "Service" the error refers to? I am using SQL 2005 Ent SP1.
