I am trying the assign the models to the user in the user management page. But when I try to expand the + symbol next to the model and open the entities, I get the error that the object reference is not set for a object server instance.

I am getting ErrorCode 8 while loading the data from stage to model. I have checked my error view it states that "Member Code is Inactive".
Initially I have loaded same set of data in Model from MDS Stage table but then deleted with ImportType = 5 which removed all the data from the MDM model.
Now i want to load it back but its giving the Error Code 8 .. Before loading the same data i have changed the stage table Importtype to 2 and Importstatusid to 0.

I'm just finished installed SQL 2005 on Vista Business edition (first time for both). I subsequently installed SP2 for 2005.
Upon completing the SP2 installation, the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration manager opened asking me to grant admin rights to the account I used to install the software. The account I used is the local admin account on the machine (only account on the machine as this is my dev box) .
Nothing shows in the two boxes below on this dialog, "Available Privelages" is blank and "Privelages granted is blank".
In addition, if I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager, and click on SQL Server 2005 Services, nothing shows in the right pain. It's as if the software installed, and yet no instance of the database exists or is running.
My thought was that the admin account I used to install the software doesn't have sufficient privelages to to start the SQL Server or SQLBrowser. So I went to computer management, Local Users and groups (machine isn't on a network yet), and made sure this same account is part of the administrators group.
Any ideas on how I should solve this?
I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings)
- Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories
- Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database
- Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService

Hello everyone. I'm very new to asp.net. I've been coding in vb.net for a while now (getting my associates degree in desktop application programming) and my boss wants all of my new applications to be web based now. Well, i decided to take some initiative on this and begin a new project for my department. This is a very small project. So far, everything is coming along alright (i found an eBook that's helped me quite a bit). Everything was cool until yesterday when i tried to connect to our sql server database. i did a restore of a database, then tried to add the User login
to it, but when i select database access, i get the followinf error :-

We have a issue with a MDS server that have been over us for a couple of days, the original error msg from SQL Server Engine is the one "The query processor could not produce a query plan" but the ones we get on the Excel-Addin are "Sequece contains no elements" or "The value cannot be null" T
• Using Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3393.0 (X64) for 6months on this server without issues
• Two weeks ago we started to have 2 errors: "Sequence Contains No Elements" | "The Value Cannot Be Null"
• We are using the last version of Excel Add-in
• We try to reinstall the MDS feature
• If I backup/restore MDS database to other server it works
• We updated to SQL 2012 SP2 + CU4 but the error persisted ...

I used a backup copy of our production DB (residing in our prod machine) to do a database RESTORE to our test DB (residing in our test machine). This step was successful.
However when I tried to access the test DB via Peoplesoft application, I am unable to logon. Only then did I notice that all the users, with the exception of "sa", were gone.
When I attempted to add a user via Enterprise Manager's Action - Add Database User, I get the message, "Error 15023: User or role '%' already exists in the current database.
What's the best way to fix this without resorting to copying the source server's master database (If i do this, I risk clobbering some other DB's that are present in the target server but not in source server)?
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!!!
Apologies if this has already been asked and answered, though I haven't found it via search.
In my report model I have a lookup entity that consists of a Code field (PK) and a Description field this is linked to a parent entity (table) and works fine, e.g. the description is shown in the parent entity instead of the FK code. However this lookup entity would be useful linked to many other entities (tables) which use the same FK code linked to the lookup entity's Code field (PK) for use of the Description field. In my first attempt I linked the lookup to a second table entity but unlike the originally linked table entity, this is not shown as the description in report builder, only the role appears and I have to select the role then the description from the 2 fields displayed (Code, Description), additionally I get shown the related first table entity.
Firstly can a lookup entity be linked to multiple tables?
Secondly, if so am I forgetting something so only the description is shown like in the first linked table entity?
Thirdly, if I correct the problem is there a property I need to enable/disable to stop the first linked table entity appearing in the second table entity entity list in report builder or should I just leave it?
Any help/advice/suggestions would be appreciated, and apologies for long list of questions but all the books and help files I have used don't seem to use imperfect/real life data sources and examples.

I have a database that tracks players for children's sports clubs. I haveincluded representative DDL for this database at the end of this post.A single instance of this database supports multiple clubs. I would like toadd support for letting each club define and store custom information aboutarbitrary entities. Basically, allows the clubs to define custom entities(i.e tables) and associated custom attributes (i.e. fields) that may berelated to existing tables (such as Player and FootballClub) or existingentities. For instance, a club may define a PlayerAssessment entity thatrecords all player assessments.To do this, I plan to support the following use case:1. FootballClub admin creates a new entity and gives it a name anddescription (Entity is only accessible to this FootballClub).2. FootballClub admin indicates that the new entity has a M:1 relationshipwith the Player table (this will add Player_ID as a FK attribute).- {An entity may have no relationships.}- {Relationships are also supported to other entities.}3. FootballClub admin specifies the names and domain/types of any dataattributes (i.e. fields) of the entity.- {An attribute's type may be constrained to a few allowable types likeRelationship, Integer, Float, Currency, Date, Time, DateTime, Name,Description and Memo.}4. View 3 Replies View RelatedEverytime I run the load packages that I have built into the MDS staging the tables, in MDS_Staging, get cleared down and then repopulated. When the MDS database gets new data it appends it and does not clear down the data that is already in the database and is there fore hold duplicate rows.
Is there a way of truncating the tables in the MDS database before populating again with the new data from the MDS_Staging database so as to not hold duplicate rows?
I am newbie to MDS of SQL,want to know how we can transfer tables from two different SQL Databases to MDS.Suggest me the steps to proceed with any examples.

View 0 Replies View RelatedLet's say I have an rdlc report for customers, and it has three sections with subreports:
CUSTOMER_INFO (name, phone, e-mail)
ITEMS
OBSERVATIONS
As the page only has 21cm and the report grows horizontally, I need to repeat the WHOLE report with all of its sections after every 4 customers. So if I have 5 customers, there would be three pages(let's say every subreport takes 1 page) for the first four customers, and then another three pages(with every section once again) just for one customer.
Is it possible? It doesn't seem somehing out of the ordinary, but I can't figure how to make it work. Everytime there is more than 4 customers, the report breaks its layout trying to accommodate the records in a new table below the tables of each subreport.
The expected result would be to bring all of exceeding data to new pages.
Dear Gurus
When I open a large table (say more than 1,000,000 Rows) in the SSMS by right clicking on the table name, it takes a very big time to fully open the table.More than 20 minutes for 1,000,000 records on a local instance.
SQL Server 2000 EM was extremely faster. Does any one knows a work around?
I need to be able to view and edit the data in SSMS.

Hi all,
can anyone advise on a problem i am having.
I have installed SQL Server Express but i am getting an error when i try to open up the management studio app.
The DB seems to be fine as i can connect to this from another machine.
The error i get says:
The proper type library could not be found in the system registry.
An attempt to repair this condition failed because you do not have the permissions to write to the system registry
or because the type library cound not be loaded.
This can be fixed by a system administrator running this program once, which will cause the proper file to be registered.
If problems still persist, then try repairing this application from the setup program.
I am running windows Vista x86.
I have tried opening it as administrator and still no could, i have uninstalled it and re-installed it about 10 times and am
getting pretty sick.
Has anyone seen this one before ????

I installed the 2014 version Excel add-in, however, it can connect to 2012 instance but failed to connect to 2014 with below error.The connection failed because the URL is not valid or the Master Data Manager web application version is not supported.

I have Office 2013 installed, SQL server 2012 and MDS installed.I tried installing MDS add-in (all version supporting 2010, 2013 & 2016) and I get same error about the prerequistes.I tried installing it via command prompt through run as administrator option.

I've got 2 entities "Agent" and "Function".
"Agent" has a code, a name, and an attribute called "function_code" which refers to "Function"'s code
"Function" as a code and a name. Name is the description of the function.
I'd like to see in a single row :
"Code", "Name", "Funcion_code" and "Name" (the last one from the entity "Function").
In SQL it will something like
Select a.code, a.name, a.function_code, f.name
from agent a, function f
where a.function_code = f.code
I've tried with explicit hierarchy, derived hierarchy, consolidated members...
I was able to have an entity with all those attributes but I can choose the attribute I want. My goal is that, according to "Function_code" in Agent, I get the "Name" of the function...

I was reading that when applying 2008 R2 SP1 you need to run the MDS update component manually: [URL] I was curious if that package changed in later service packs because I couldn't find any mention of it.
SQL 2012, if there was a similar process in their service packs for MDS, or if it hasn't been upgraded?
I have an issue with MDS (Master Data Services for ONE platform). When I try to connect to MDS from Excel addin, I get the error - please see the attachement.

I am inserting one record and then trying to prevent the same record being inserted, by setting the ImportType to 1:
truncate table [stg].[Nationality_1_Leaf]
insert into [stg].[Nationality_1_Leaf](importType, ImportStatus_id, BatchTag, Name)

After this I truncate the staging table and repeat the process. Unfortunately a new record is entered into the Entity even though the name is identical to a record that already exists.
