We migrated the MDS database to a new server (win 2012 & sql 2014). We did this by detaching attaching. After the move, I tried to upgrade the MDS database using the master configuration manager and i am getting the following error. I couldn't find any relevant articles online. "The upgrade from the version of the database is not supported or the sql scripts for the upgrade are misisng".

I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.
Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:
Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.
I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Whilst working with SSRS within SSIS I came accross an issue when trying to create a Web Service Task using the SSRS Web Service. After pointing the task to the WSDL file when I tried to access the Methods of the web service I would get the '....WSDL is not supported.' error. I also noticed that selecting the Download WSDL button would throw up and error as well.
After a bit bit of playing around I found the following solution to the problem.
Make a copy of the ReportingServices.wsdl file and make sure it is not marked as Read-Only.
Point the Web Service Task editor to this new copy of the WSDL file
Set the OverwriteWSDLFile option in the Web Service Task editor to True.
You should then be able to access the details of the WSDL file and the methods of the web service. I am not sure if this issue is by design but hope that this information will help others who came across the same issue?
We already integrated different client data to MDS with MS Excel plugin, now we want to push back updated or new added record to source database. is it possible do using MDS? Do we have any background sync process to which automatically sync data to and from subscriber and MDS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the 101 Samples installation (i.e. 101SamplesCS.msi) from Microsoft's website, which contains SQL Server database files.
While working with the databases in the "Data Access" samples from the 101 Samples projects, I get the following error:
"Database <mdf_name> cannot be upgraded because its non-release version (600) is not supported by this version of SQL Server. You cannot open a database that is incompatible with this version of sqlservr.exe. You must re-create the database..."
I assume the database files were created with a beta or CTP version of SQL Server 2005. Does anyone know where I can get an updated version of these database files or scripts to update them?

I downloaded the AdventureWorks2012 OLTP script. When I ran it it gave me some errors. I also noticed that it tried to install into the bult-in master database, it created a lot of tables and objects. Some questions :
1) How can I remove everything that the script installed into master database?
2) Do I need to create 1st an empty database and then run the script there?
3) I am running the script from a custom path (C:DownloadsMicrosoft SQL Server 2012AdventureWorks 2012 OLTP Script.zipAdventureWorks 2012 OLTP Script) not sure if this is causing some of the errors as the script, in the beggining has a path to other folders :

Hi My project is in .NET 2003 i.e. framework 1.1 and database in SQLServer 2000. But the reports have been developed using SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services. Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. Can some one here give me more insight about how to upgrade a SQL Server 2005 Standard Version (32 bits) to a SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Version (32 bits) as default instance on a Windows 2003 enterprise OS (32 bits). I want to know what is the easist way and what is the safest way. May I preserve some settings I have for the STD version, or I have to start from strach again to configure the server? Is there any catches, anything I should have attention to (We are using heavily about CLR and fulltext indexing)?

I am using Master Data Service for couple of months now. I can load, update, merge and soft delete data in MDS. Occasionally we even have to hard delete data from MDS. If we keep on soft deleting records in a MDS table eventually there will be huge number of soft deleted records. Is there an easy way to hard delete all the soft deleted records from all MDS tables in a specific Model.

A application using Sql Server 7 is developed under WinNT(Win2000, WinXp) . Now want to transfer this application into Vista OS. When install MSDEx86.exe, "SQL Server7 is not compatible with Vista" was warned. When do such kind of transfer, what kind of software related to Sql Server is required? And is it necessary to modify the code of application?
I am getting ErrorCode 8 while loading the data from stage to model. I have checked my error view it states that "Member Code is Inactive".
Initially I have loaded same set of data in Model from MDS Stage table but then deleted with ImportType = 5 which removed all the data from the MDM model.
Now i want to load it back but its giving the Error Code 8 .. Before loading the same data i have changed the stage table Importtype to 2 and Importstatusid to 0.
I've been quite excited about SQL Server MDS that should allow non-IT staff to easily maintain data. However maintaining data that have many-to-many relationships seems to be quite a pain. I believe the best way is:

Everytime I run the load packages that I have built into the MDS staging the tables, in MDS_Staging, get cleared down and then repopulated. When the MDS database gets new data it appends it and does not clear down the data that is already in the database and is there fore hold duplicate rows.
Is there a way of truncating the tables in the MDS database before populating again with the new data from the MDS_Staging database so as to not hold duplicate rows?

"Agent" has a code, a name, and an attribute called "function_code" which refers to "Function"'s code
"Function" as a code and a name. Name is the description of the function.
I'd like to see in a single row :
"Code", "Name", "Funcion_code" and "Name" (the last one from the entity "Function").
In SQL it will something like

Hi, all. I see two conflicting notes about whether one can install the SQL Server 2005 Trial/Evaluation and then upgrade to Workgroup or Standard editions, without uninstalling the Evaluation edition.
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143393.aspx seems to say YES, you can upgrade to Workgroup/Standard from the Evaluation edition.
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/faq.mspx says NO, you can only upgrade to Enterprise edition from the Evaluation edition. For Workgroup and Standard, you must uninstall the Trial first.
Which is the correct answer?

I was reading that when applying 2008 R2 SP1 you need to run the MDS update component manually: [URL] I was curious if that package changed in later service packs because I couldn't find any mention of it.
SQL 2012, if there was a similar process in their service packs for MDS, or if it hasn't been upgraded?

I am inserting one record and then trying to prevent the same record being inserted, by setting the ImportType to 1:

I want to hide the Code and Name attribute, i set the Display Width Pixel to 0 but it doesn't work, i tried to set "Deny" Permission to those attribute but it hasn't any effect.Im working with Master Data Services 2014/ SQL Server 2014 SP1.

I've created the model and entities from System Administration ok, however when I try and use Explorer to work with the master data I've setup, there's an error "The remote server returned an error: NotFound".I ran Profiler while clicking Explorer, and it's connecting with the XML statements and running without any errors - so it's seems it's not any issue with connecting to the MDS database.
