Could we configure a merge replication such as replicate the master table and its all related tables (relation deep could be 1.)
We dont want to manually find master table relations and configure replication for the related tables.
please help for that configuration

However there is no doc for that replication.

Is there any system or user tables track down these replication as well as configuration in that replication?

There is an error in one of my merge publication. The error is,
The change for the row with article nickname 2336003 (test), rowguidcol {436456F0-F5AD-E411-80CF-5CF3FC1D2D76} could not be applied at the destination. Further information about the failure reason can be found in the conflict logging tables.
When i checked my tables I got following values in rowguid column

We have merge replication running with anamous subscribers
We have generested lots of views tables and stored procedures like

How do we get rud of these I am concerned it will fill up the publisher database

I want to merge replicate my mdf to two PocketPCs running Windows Mobile 5.0/SQL Server Mobile and PocketPC 2003 SE/SQL Server CE 2.0. I've got SQL Server 2000 installed on a Windows Server 2003 machine. I've followed this guide: http://www.codeproject.com/database/MergeReplication.asp, but now I don't know how to add SQL Server Mobile/CE to the list of subscribers after creating the publication. I'm really lost. Does anyone know of an easy step by step guide.

Ok, I'm knee-deep in replication-hell.
I'm trying to set up snapshot replication between two SQL Server 2000 databases over the internet. Both servers run Windows 2000 server edition and SQL server 2000. The idea is to send certain local information, stored in database tables to a database from which the information is published on a website.
I've set up the distribution database (with the original name: distribution) and connected a publisher to it (let's call that one "source_database") using the sp_adddistpublisher stored procedure. No problems there...
Next step, I added a publication, the tables in source_database, and a subscriber, the website database. I've opened up port 1433 on both servers, but still it won't send anything from the source_database to the website database....
It gives no errors, but just doesn't do anything...
Now, I've looked for possible problems and I think these problems might be able to cause problems:
- The initial snapshot is not reaching the subscriber
- I've made a push subscription which may has to become a pull subscription
- The RPC's aren't available, because both servers are highly secured
- The wrong serverpack is installed (this one is a wild guess)
Does anybody have any idea on how I can get my distribution working or solve any of the problems above, cause I'm running out of idea's....
(P.S. I'm a bit of a noobie to replication, I've set it up in a test environment before and it just worked perfectly, but the real thing isn't)
We are setting up a test lab environment with 100 machines. We want one master testing db that gets replicated to each to run scripted application tests nightly.
My goal is to minimize the amount of work to move this thing to each of the 100 test machines. I am wondering if we need to even have the sql local and invest in a monster db server with 100 copies of the db we restore and each test machine point to their own db on that server, or if I should use db mirroring or something to get the master test db to each of those machines instead.
I am having two NT/SQL Server 6.5 and i tried to replicate the database on SQL Server from One Server to another Server.
When i try to replicate from Server A[Publisher] to Server B[Subscriber] it is giving error on Distribution History Log on Manage Scheduled Task Dialog.
The Error is like this :
08001 [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [dbnmpntw] ConnectionOpen (Createfile()).
and it is trying again and again by using retry option.
Kindly guide me by mentioning the reason for this error.

We have a two SQL Server 2005 databases set up using Transactional Replication. My manager has asked me to set it up to replicate constraints (default, fk, et) on the tables in the main publication. I said sure, I can do it, but I will have to re-initialize the subscription. He said there was a way to do it without re-initializing the subscription. I cannot find anything in my research to indicate that there is a method to do so (via call sp_ functions, etc). Is it indeed possible to replicate constraints on replicated tables without re-initializing the who subscription? The reason he does not want me to perform a re-initialization is that we are a few weeks before moving into production, and a full re-initialization takes 1.5 days, which would impact system availability.

I have some issue when replicating a view (transactional replication).I have following objects on publisher:
Table: [Metadataschema].[Entity]
View: [dbo].[EntityLogicalView]
the view definition is:
create view [dbo].[EntityLogicalView] as (SELECT * FROM [Entity] WHERE OverwriteTime = 0)
this is what I get when I run "Script View as Create". The same query is used by the replication.Unfortunately this query fails on the subscriber "Unable to replicate a view or function because the referenced objects or columns are not present on the Subscriber". I cannot even runt his query manually on the subscriber, it only works when I change it like this:create view [dbo].[EntityLogicalView] as (SELECT * FROM [Metadataschema].[Entity] WHERE OverwriteTime = 0) Is there any way to get this working? Can I change the creation scripts used by the replication or force publisher to include schema names in all objects?

I setup the transactional replication to replicate remote database that has 50 tables.
Two of the tables with huge columns.
I splitted the columns by creating several views before running the initial snapshot.
Questions:
1. Can the database replication copy the views.?
2. Where the view will be stored at the subscriber database?

I'm trying to replicate client data from multiple databases into a single table. So database A, B and C replicate client data to a table in database Z. There is a settings table on A, B and C that holds the businessID and I use a function in a computed column to add this to the client table. At the moment I have just database A and Z as a test and what happens is the computed column gets replicated as a computed column with the formula.
Can I change this so that I can replicate the computed value (at db A,B,C) of this column?
I don't really want to add a businessID to the table if possible as I'm going to need to add a number of other tables to this replication which will each need to have the businessID, a computed column would be much easier and save updating a load of scripts.
If the above is not possible is there some other solution available so I can identify which database the records came from in the table on database Z?

When I'm using MS SQL transactional replication and select all the tables to be replicated, some of the tables are marked with the red cross signs and aren't being replicated. How do I include these tables into the MS SQL replication? I tried to build indexes and re-created publications, but it didn't work.

I'm setting up Replication using SQL Server 2000 as a Publisher/Distributor and SQL Server 2005 as subscriber.
The problem I'm facing is when i add a new table in publisher (2K), it is not propagated to Subscriber (2K5).
How do i replicate new tables, or any database object (view, SP,etc) changes to Subscriber (2K5)?
Since I'm novice to Replication, can any one help me?

i have a problem with my replication.
I have two SQL 2005 SP2 Server and want to use the transaction replication with updateable subscriber. Now the problem is that i can do any changes on the master server. But if i want to change a record on the subscriber which contains a ntext, text, oder image column - then i geht the error that the field will be NULL on the master.
Is there any solution to fix this problem? I dont wan`t to change the datatype vom ntext to varchar(max) !!

there are several remote locations where sql is running, my company has asked me to find a way to collect all the data from the remote locations to a central location automatically,for example day to day data should be synced at night time from 2am to 7 am and it should be compressed automatically before data transfers to the central location. NOTE there is no domain only standalone workstations

Is this possible?If yes is there any specific thing that I should consider for it's implementation? Should each publication has it's own dedicated distributor or all of them can share one distributor?

Over the past few days, we've been experiencing some very disturbing issues that may be directly related to our prod database (publisher) replicating to the reports database (subscriber). Both machines run SQL Server 2005 unpatched (I know, I know).
When I run replication monitor, everything seems fine until I go to the Undistributed Commands page and I see a HUGE number there, currently 2 million and growing. I check the net for solutions and I find reference to setting SubscriptionStreams to a number other than default (4 cpus on each machine).
Problem one is that there is no way I can add this (that I could find anyway) to the Distribution agent through its properties.
Problem two is when I try running Activity Monitor on the subscription DB or exec sp_lock, both seem to time out or hang. This leads me to believe something is blocked in the distributor or the report db?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I need to develop an off-line database that replicates/copies some key tables for reporting. The info is fairly static (codes. etc.)and does not need to be real-time.
Is it feasible that I can set up a scheduled task on SQL 6.5 using Transfer Manager to copy & append data to this off-line db on a schedule.
I may not be able to set-up replication on our production server.
So, I am considering alternatives. Appreciate any input. Thank you :)

I am trying to replicate some of my production tables into development tables in an automated way. Decided to use the Select INTO command because it seemed to be the easiest way. This command does copy all the col sizes, but does not copy over the "default value or binding" fields. How do I do this? I saw that in create table you can use "INCLUDING COLUMN DEFAULTS "
But this doesn't seem to work for the select into command. Can you tell me how I can do this? Currently the command I am using is:
SELECT * INTO " + DevTableName + " From " + ProdTableName
However, this won't copy over the default column values that I have specified inside the table ProdTableName. Can you tell me how I can do this?

Is it possible to replicate data from 3 publishers to a single/central subscriber transactionally? In other words I have Server A, Server B, Server C with databases A,B,C respectively. I need to replicate 2 articles from A,2 from B and 2 from C to a central Server D that hosts database D. D will have only 6 articles. The replication is Transactional Replication.
If it is possible what will be the drawbacks of such implementation? (if one server goes down will the whole replication break?) If not possible then what is the best way of implementing this?

I have a question about replication. I have created the destination machine as the subscriber, where I created a pull subscribtion and tried to replicate I got this error.
"Subscriber must be running in perseat license moe to use this."
The cd I used to install MSSQL 7.0 is the msdn back office test platform. Where am I going wrong??/ because I never got to specify the per seat license anywhere..
The documentation says that If I can have it installed on a 95/98 box then it means I have a perseat licesne, which I was able to do..

On the web form I have textboxes for the Purchase No., date and part description, and a drop down list for the machine name. How do I insert them into the different tables?

I have 2 tables with this design: one has ArticleID as primary key and multiple other fields and one has GroupID as primary key and multiple other fields. Each article can belong in multiple groups so I created a new table called articleGroups with only 2 fields: ArticleID and GroupID to show the groups associated with each article. There is a relation between this table and each of the main 2 tables. My question is, in the articleGroup table, does it make any sense to create an Index on ArticleID, GroupID or both? Since the group is needed for each article the Groups will always be queried everytime the article is queried. So, I am not sure if an index is needed?

Please give your ideas about how to create a query from two tables, which have many-to-many relationship. For example, we have table Book and table Author and consider, that one author had wroten several books and one book had being wroten by several authors. So we have many-to-many relationship of these two tables.
Usually this sutuation resolves by maens of creating the third table AuthorBook, which consist of key fields from the Author table and key fields from the Book table. So that the Author table is the parent table to AuthorBook, and the Book table is the parent table to AuthorBook. So we have two relations one-to-many. Now the question is how to get all related values from both tables, using JOIN operation and the conjunctive table?

I know that adding a column using ALTER TABLE to add a column automatically allows SQLSERVER 2005 to replicate the schema changes to the subscribers, however, I would like to add a new column to an existing article that is being used for merge replication, however, I don't want this column to be replicated. Re-initialising the subscriptions is not a option. Help would be appreciated.
I am using SQLSERVER 2005 (SP1).
