Merge Two Reports Into One Pdf File

I have 2 reports. It has different header, detail and footer respectively. I want to do one thing now. When I click the hyperlink in browser, it can download a PDF file that is merge 2 reports into one. Anyone has solution? (I think use the subreport is not a good idea because subreport must has the same header and footer.)

In my enviornment i have one database with 6 ndf files and 5 ldf files and one mdf file.Actuvally what i am looking is to merge 6 ndf files into one ndf file and 5 ldf files into one ldf file.is it possible to do like this? , i tried using MOVE and TO option while backup is restorating but getting below error messages.

ERROR:
Msg 3176, Level 16, State 1, Line 4
File 'J:NDFabc.ndf' is claimed by 'Finance_data2'(4) and 'Finance_data1'(3). The WITH MOVE clause can be used to relocate one or more files.

Merge Disparate Queries Into Raw File

I have a requirement to create a file containing security Index and Index Component data (think Dow Jones Industrial Average and the 30 securities that make up the index). The format of the file is for the first index to be listed first (with some pricing data) and then followed by each of its components on a separate line. After that comes the second index and then its components.

So, given:

index IN1 with COM1, COM2
index IN2 with COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6
index IN3 with COM7, COM8, COM9

I want:

IN1
IN1COM1
IN1COM2
IN2
IN2COM3
IN2COM4
IN2COM5
IN2COM6
IN3
etc.

Using DTS, my solution was to output each query to a temporary file and then use an ActiveX Script Task to loop through the rows and output the data in the correct order in a single file.

Is there a better solution using SSIS? I see that if I still need to use scripting, I can at the minimum send the queries to Recordset Destinations instead of the temporary files. (I am assuming that since Recordset is available as a destination, then it is accessible through code...)

Is It Possible To Have The .rds File In Reports Folder

Since i have 5 different projects all has the same kind of reports., but calling via 5 different sites all sites on same webserver.

The problem i have is the .rds file name is same in all 5 report projects and it is a shared datasource., now when i compile the report project it will not load or overwrite the .rds file since the name is same, for that reason i tried to have the .rds file in reports folder as a datasource not a shared datasource. but i tried to add it, after i create the datasource, it is automatically going into the shared datasource folder, how can i create a datasource not shared under reports folder.

Transact SQL :: MERGE Function And OUTPUT To A File

I used the MERGE function for the first time. Now I have to create a pipe-delimited delta file for a 3rd party client of any deltas that may exist in our database.

What is the best way to do this? I have OUTPUT to a result set of the deltas...but I have to send over the entire table to the 3rd party via a pipe-delimited file.

For example, I have 5 pages from a pdf files which is created from another 3rd party software provider. I then i have output from sql reporting services. How To Merge Report Output Into Single File?

Hi

I have read a few other posts about how to merge multiple report output files into a single document e.g. a single pdf.
There are a few approaches:
1) Generate post script files and then merge and oprint via a post script driver.
2) Generate seperate pdf files and then merge them into single document using a custom library.

I have a third idea and would appreciate any input:

Dynamically generate a RDL file that contains sub-reports, one for each report required in the final document, publish and run this as the final report. This could happen way before actually running the report i.e. the user has a tool where they select reports for a pack, tool then generates new RDL file and publishes it to sql reporting services, gets run at some later point in time.

Some challenges:
-Generate a table of contents with page numbering?
-Layout of sub-reports, not sure how they would be rendered across multiple pages?
-Managing parametes across sub-reports at run time.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I need to use the same type of formatting of color,fonts,font sizes and the background colors so that the same can be used across the reports.



This is somewhat like using a CSS file for aspx pages.

Help With Generating Reports And Saving To File.

Hi, I'm a first time user at reporting services and in dire need of some help, I'm having a real hard time finding the information I need.



I have made two reports in Business Intelligence Development Studio that access a sql database and I can deploy them and see them at http://localhost/reports etc.



What I wan't to do is be able to "trigger" the reports to be built from a schedule (e.g. every 8 hour on weekdays, every 12 hours on weekends but should be able to be changed) and after built to be saved to a html file.



I also need to set the sql query for the dataset before generating the report (select * from table where DateTimeType between This and That).



Anyway, I'm completely lost on how to achive this and would greatly appreciate and tips or pointers to where the information can be found.

SQL 2012 :: Relocating Log File Of Merge Subscription Database?

I need to move the log file of a disk and onto another disk. The log belongs to a merge subscription database.

I was going to stop/disable the merge jobs on the distributor, detach the database, move the log file to another drive, reattach, and enable the merge jobs on the distributor.

Does that sound ok, or should I employ some other method.

Merge Data From Oledb Source And Flat File

Hi All,
In one of my SSIS Interface I have to Merge data from a Oledb source and a Flat file source.But after I read from the flat file I have do a basic validation of the file for the length of header,detail and trailer records and then process further.The above Validation I am doing within Script Component.If the validation fails the flow should pass out of the DataFlowTask without Initailsing the Oledb source.

But the problem is i am not able to connect anything to the Oledb source,i.e Oledb source is not taking any incoming Pointers.
Earlier I had done the same Validation in Control Flow Task,but then the interface was reading the same file twice,once in the Control Flow Task and then again in the DataFlowTask.Which i should avoid now.

I hope many of you could have come across such a problem.
Any help on this will be appreciated.

Hi,We have XML files (and its XSD) that are dump of our tree-like datastructure in memory. These XML files may potentially have unlimitedlevels of nesting because some elements can contain themselves(recursively defined).We want to build some reports using some third party reporting tool(Crystal Report, for example).The first question is - is there any way for Crystal Reports toprocess such complicated (some elements have recursive definitions)XML file directly? If not, anyone knows any other reporting tool thatcan do that job?The second question is - if we have to develop a small applicationthat converts the XML to dataset, anyone who has done similar thingbefore can give us some recommendations as to which approach is theeasiest to take (Java, .NET, etc.)? Limit File Size Of Subscription Reports

I have a report subscription this is generating PDF files. The end user of the PDF files requires these files to be below a certain threshold in file size. Is there any way to set up a subscription to generate files that are under the threshold size?

If I knew approximately how many records would generate a report below the threshold, is there a way to generate several reports all of which are below the threshold?

How To Render Multiple Reports Into One Output File?

We are using SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and looking to render multiple reports into one output file. So, for example, say we have four reports and when the user asks for the reports to be generated, we would like to have all four reports come out in one PDF (or Excel or HTML) file instead of four separate files. I hope this makes sense.

Is there any way to render multiple reports to one output file?

I have two SQL queries that we would like to automate. Ideally we want them to both be scheduled to run and dump their results to a single Excel spreadsheet with two workbooks, one for each query

Is it possible to do this? If not, sending each query to a seperate XLS or CSV file would be OK

I have used the following useful article regarding exporting a multi-record file:

I have created the 9 datasources, ordering each on a field commmon to all.

I have created the required derived columns headers and have merged all the record types into a file.

The resulting file looks fine, except for the odd blank line between record types. Any ideas regarding cause and what to do to fix?

Hello, I need to be able to view and save reports using Report Manager. However, I do not want some users the ability to upload files (need to prevent virus or bad files). It appears I need to select manage reports from the role definition in order for a user to save reports. but then i get the upload file link as well. Is there a way to manage reports but prevent upload file link?

History Of Report Definition File For Published Reports...

I would like to know if there is a way to maintain the history of changes to the reports that have been published to the report server?

I know that the report definitions get saved onto ReportServer database. But let's say a user makes a change to the published report and then saves it back to the server. And that the latest change was incorrect and I have to revert back to the previous version of the published report. Is there a way to do that? Does the report server maintain a history of previous versions.

There is a history for each report and I think that corresponds to the history of report executions (output data). But I am talking about the history of actual report definition.

I have few tables, which are replicated and partitioned. They also have archival process. I want to avoid having to run that same process on the subscriber.

Replication of partition switching is easy. However I am not sure how to replicate merge range and empty filegroup/file drops.

There the following article options:

Copy file group associations
Copy table partitioning schemes
Copy index partitioning schemes

I am not sure if these are enough to implement the replication of merge range and empty filegroup/file drops.

I could not find and option to copy partition functions.

during period of troubles connecting to Local Servers and Sites location i.e., to [URL], the place where all Reports are saved by default, I have continued to work on some Reports that have been saved to file system of my localhost/developing machine. But, upon recovery of http location, I can not see/open those files?

how to approach those files in order to open them in Report Builder 3.0 and thus, to "save as" them to the http location? Seems that Report Builder has chosen that location, by default, somehow.....

I have created the 2 datasources, ordering each on a field commmon to both.

I have created the two derived columns headers and am now moving on to the merge.

It is failing with the following error:
"the input is not sorted"

And whilst I definitely have an order by on the query, when I look at the metadata between the datasource and the derived column, the Sort Key Position items displays "0" for all my fields, I was expecting the sort field to have a "1" in this column. What am I missing?

Reporting Services :: Could Not Load File Or Assembly Error On Adding Custom Libraries In SSRS Reports

I have created a custom library(CodeLibrary) which internally references the dlls Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.WorkItemTracking.Client.

I added this custom Dll codelibrary.dll to my SSRS report. and the expression of one of the field as 

=codelibrary.codefunction.GetValue(1000)  
codefunction is the class and GetValue is the method.

When I preview the report, I get the error "Error while loading code module:

'CodeLibrary,Version=1.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null'. Could not load file or assembly 'CodeLibrary,Version1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

I am using VS2013, I have placed the custom library DLL in the path

C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 12.0Common7IDEPrivateAssemblies

I have tested the custom library with a WPF application and it works fine.

I am not able to figure out what is causing this error.

I have database on SQL Server 2000 set up with a merge publication.This publication is configured with a number of dynamic filters toreduce the amount of data sent to each client. Each client has ananonymous pull subscription. The merge process can be triggered by thewindows sync manager and my application.To improve performance I have created some helper tables to hold themapping between user login and primary keys of selected entities.For the replicated data to be correct the contents of the helper tablesneeds to be up to date.I need to fire off a stored procedure on the publisher beforereplication starts to verify that this data is up to date. I can notsee any documented way of doing this however I have been experimentingwith some unorthodox systems.Firstly has anyone any ideas?I have been considering adding a trigger to some of the tables used bythe Microsoft replication code - yes I know this is very nasty.My problems arise because executing this stored procedure will causesome data to be updated. In updating data we could create a newgeneration in the database. I must therefore run my stored procedurebefore any the Microsoft code makes any generation checks / updates.Anyone done anything similar, Anyone have any better ideas?Any comments would be gratefully received.

Reports Usage Frequency For All The Existing Reports On SSRS 2000

I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report.
I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log
to know the frequency of each report being used.

Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend?
How can I acheive this?

I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.

Any help is appreciated

Change A Merge Subscriber To Become A Merge Publisher

Hi,

I'm using merge replication to maintain a backup copy of my main (publisher)MSDE database. A push subscription periodically (1 per minute) updates the backup DB.
It's intended that if the main db goes down then the backup (subscription) db can be configured as a publisher. This must all be performed via scripting.
The initial configuration of the main publisher and subscription is controlled via scripting, which works fine.
The problems occur when I try to configure the subsciber to become a publisher. A script is executed on the subscriber but fails at the point when it's configuring the publisher detail. The error is something like "unable to configure a publication for a database setup as an anonymous subscription".
I'm guessing that there are subscritpion artifacts added to the database which need to be removed before it can be configured as a new publisher.

Converting Crystal Reports To SSRS Reports

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:

In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).

As an example:

I have a database table with a column called ID.
I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".

With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data:
1 - 50
60 - 80
150 - 127

This will only return results within those ranges.


Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?

Copy Reports From Other Users My Reports Folder

Is there a way to copy reports from other users "My reports" folder? I am logging onto the management studio reporting services using an administrative account and I am able to view the reports from all users' "My Reports" folder. But I am not able to export them as an rdl file. I am able to export reports from other common folders, but not from the "My Reports" folder.

The reason I need to do this is some of the users have created some reports in one environment and the reports are available in their respective "My Reports" folder. I need to move these reports to their corresponding "My Reports" folder in another environment.


Is there a way to do this?

How To Show ChartFX Reports In ReportServer And How To Show Tooltips For Reports Using Chart Properties

Hi all,

I have two problems.

1. I downloaded ChartFXRSTrial and created one chart, and able to deploy it in ReportServer, but the problem is the reports are not showing there, i checked the configuration of .dll files in the help provided by chartFX, but couldn't get anything, so could help me on this.

2. How to give Tooltip for the X- axis or Y- axis values in the ReportServer , i tried using chartproperties of .rdl file, but didnt understand it. can help me on this, and one more i tried with Dundas too, If im giving tooltip as #valy then, it is showing samething in reportserver instead the values of 'Y-axis'.
