I have 7 source databases and one target database, all using the same structure. The structure is made of 10 tables, with foreign key constraints.
I need to merge the source databases into the target (which won't have any data before that process, but will already have the correct schema), and to keep the relationships between the records.
I know how to iterate over the source databases (with SMO foreach), but I'd like to know if someone can advise the best copy method for that context in SSIS ? (I don't want to keep the primary keys, but I need to keep the relationships...)
I'm pretty new to SQL altogether. I kinda gave myself a crash-course when the software I was using, Papertrack, was having problems. It all started when I tried to move the database. Now there are two separate databases that I can see on SQL Enterprise manager. I picked up the book and figured some things out, but still don't know how to merge the databases. I called the support for the software and got to know them on a middle-name basis. Is there a way I can merge the two databases so that the software can pull queries from both and access the files? To anyone that likes a challenge,
Hello, As is known, when developing an application in VWDE that features membership as well the application's own database, you have a total of 2 databases. Seeing as a lot of hosters charge per database instance, to make the membership utility viable, it would be prudent to merge each database into one. Quite a few blogs/tutorials, including ScottGu's, recommend merging, but I'm as yet to find one that actually explains the merging process step by step. Advice such as, "run each script against the same database," simply isn't enough. If anyone could shed any light on this topic, it would be much appreciated. Of note, I have SQL Server Management Studio as the recommended deployment tool. If one thing's becoming increasing evident, it's that it would be well worthwhile in finding a host that supports SQL Server 2005 as opposed to 2000. Kind regards.
How do I merge three SQL Server databases into one. There will be some duplicated information in some of the tables. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.
Hi I have a problem out here. I have two databases with the same table structure and I want to merge data from both the tables . Please can anyone let me know. Iam using Sql Server 7.0.
How would you solve this problem? Would you use replication? SSIS? Schedule stored procs? A third party data tool?
We have about 50 databases located at offices around the world. There are several key tables which we need a central copy of at our Head Office.
We need only the new INSERTS or UPDATES for the day to be copied to head office. The copying process should happen after business hours for that office.
Some cleaning of the data needs to happen before updating head office.
Our database is being installed at new offices every other month, so it's important to us that this be easy to add a new database into the schedule, ideally without needing a SQL DBA or Developer.
We want something robust, performant and easy to troubleshoot.
I have two databases lets say DB1 and DB2. Schemas for both databases is same. In both database schemas there are tables which has identity columns as primary key. Now i want to merge these two databases in a single database say DB3. It may also possible that some master records in both databases are common so they should not repeat in DB3
Is there any way so that i can do it quickly and as soon as possible.
I have to merge the data from two databases, one is in SQL Server 2005 format, one is in 2000. The merged data will then reside on a SQL Server 2000 platform. Is there an easy way to do this through Management Studio or Enterprise Manager? Or will we have to export the data from the 2005 database to a flat file and import it into a new 2000 database. And then do the merge?
I have some data in Excel - sheet1 which would be static.
Now I need to import data from SQL Server (using a query) and Union above static data with this SQL data and later I will have to create PowerPivot table in Sheet2.
Which is suitable option for me to import data from SQL to excel as I see "From SQL Server" option under "Data" and "Power Query" tab as well.
How to merge above SQL data with existing static data?
I have 2 tables that have the exact same structure and have some common values. T1 = a,b,c,d,e T2 = e,f,g,h
I want to create a single distinct table which captures all unique in both tables. I have a common fields ID in both, I can match on. I don't want duplicates which is what's happening now..
I have a function that returns a range of numbers and a query that returns a varchar field and an int field. I would like to replace the int field in the query with unique ranged numbers from the function(one per row).
Any ideas?
Thanks, Mark
-- use ifms
select * from dbo.fnRange(5101,5152)
select --distinct s.OrgKeyId, 10420 TableNumber, 5100 DetailCodeNumber, s.NewStratalabel CodeDescription, s.NewStratalabel CodeAbbreviation, 1 CodeActiveFlag, Getdate(), 0 distinct s.NewStratalabel, 5100 from _StrataLabel_xref s Left Outer Join(select * from org_Detail_Code where tablenumber = 10420 and orgkeyid in (Select distinct OrgkeyId from _StrataLabel_xref)) o on o.OrgKeyId = s.OrgKeyId and o.CodeDescription = s.NewStratalabel where o.Detailcodenumber is null order by s.NewStratalabel
I manage to get the SSIS working. Now I would need to do these tasks.
I first want to get data from 2 different sql servers. What would be the best method to accomplish this? Both are in Sql Server 2005.
Secondly I want to make sure if any of the servers couldn't be found on the network or in any case the getting data task failed for any one of them the package won't continue and an email should be send to an email address.
Thirdly If everything is ok then I should combine both and generate one sequence no for them and save them on to another location and then generate a file with modified values.
Basically this is ONE table that contains header and detail data ordered sequentially. There are not unique identifiers for the rows. The rows are ordered sequentially so that each SALESPERSON is followed by one or more CLIENTs.
If I could merge the rows, the result would look like:
SALESPERSON SALESPERSON_ID CLIENT DATE_FROM DATE_TO AGE TOM 12345 MARYSMITH 1/1/2008 12/31/2008 46 TOM 12345 JANEDOW 1/1/2008 12/31/2008 24 ED 56789 TOMJONES 1/1/2008 12/31/2008 65 ANTHONY 243546 BEVBLACK 1/1/2008 12/31/2008 15 ANTHONY 243546 JEANTHOMAS 1/1/2008 12/31/2008 29
I am not how to do this with this data.
I also thought maybe it would be better to add unique identifiers to each set of SALESPERSONs/CLIENTs, and work with the data that way, but I am not sure how to do that.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have no ability to change this data - I have to try to work with it if possible.
Hello, i have a database which is subscrribed into two databases. It is subscribed to one database throught a PUSH SUBSCRIPTION and it is subscribed to another with PULL SUBSCRIPTION. The problem is that it is correctly syncronized with PUSH SUBSCRIPTION publication but it does not merge data correctly to PULL PUBLICATION.
When i try to run Merge Agent from subscriber it gives me following error:
Retrieving publication information Retrieving subscription information The specified subscription type is invalid. Category:NULL Source: Merge Process Number: -2147201020 Message: The specified subscription type is invalid.
P.S : When i run Merge Agent from EM, it says, " No Data to be merged "
Working on sql integration with hybris. i was new to this hybris environment previously my job was completly admin part. Now i got a project where i need to fetch data from hybris (Data Hub) and then i need to maintain the same records in sql server with same attributes and sometimes we need to add new attributes and tables even.
How we can import data from the excel sheet to sql server. For this i have gone through 2 approaches whether using merge statement through stored procedure or SSIS package (I don't know whether it works out for the same to merge data in sql server, if it works). Which of the procedure is more efficient. previously my tasks were completely admin tasks and i dnt have much knowledge about developing part.
I've seen posts about merging 2 databases but everyone is talking about 2 SQL based databases. I have a data cube based on MDX query giving me all the Sales data. I have a Excel sheet with the Budgets in it, thanks to the connector i can browse through my Excel file using SQL statements.
Now the problem that i have is i want to merge these 2 data's into one report i want to provide Sales figures from the cube with the budgets next to them which are stored in the Excel file.
So basicly is it possible to merge an MDX based database with an SQL database ? Cuz all the solutions i have found to far is by joining databases which is always done on SQL level.
i'm new to this and i am trying to create a statement that would add the values together for Hong Kong and China and then delete the Hong Kong road. (this is a example what i am trying to acheive)
I'm in the middle of developing a Database for a hospital that measures its audits, inhouse operations, and finance. What we currently have and do everyday is collect data from a large database that is real time with patient data, progess, infomation, etc and dump it into a data warehouse that runs on TSI/Eclipsys. We run reports using a number of programs and dump it into Excel sheets that have charts, reports, etc. This Database for which I'm developing won't come soley from the TSI/Eclypsys source, but this is the only source thats updated regularly. I don't want to have in sync with TSI/Eclipysys in fear that every day when it updates data may be lost, not read, or worse won't be up date if there is a problem. My question is is it possible to run a query from Sequel Server 2005 that will take that data upon request using the reporing features on Sequel Server 2005. i.e. What if I need to run a report on measure B in department 12 from Jan 1-Feb 1, instead of being in sync, can I just write queries to take that information rather than double the data and take up twice the space and trouble. FYI, these datatypes rarely change in the TSI/Eclipsys data warehouse. This sure was long question and didn't intended it to be . Thanks for listening and hope to hear back.
I don't know the correct syntax to accomplish this. I've looked in the on-line help but am not coming up with anything.
Basically I have two identically structured tables in two separate databases.
I wanted to select anything from the dbo2.table that isn't in the dbo1.table and insert it into dbo1.table.
I thought I could do something like... quote:
Select INTO dbo1.table
and then add my select statement. But that throws an error: quote:Server: Msg 2714, Level 16, State 6, Line 1 There is already an object named 'bkupproceduresfeeschedule' in the database.
And the on-line documentation says an INTO is only for a new table.
How can I merge records from one table into another table?
Hi All, We currently got two databases in the application(Visual web express with vb script). The one database is a sql 2000 that sits on a server and is fed by people that does E Learning. The app. got its own database(SQL 2005 express) with the record of the people doing the learning and some other attendances from other courses. I would like to determine attendances from both databases etc. How do I link this to table form diffrent databases into one table for me to do training cost etc. Thanks for your help.
hi, I currently uses SQL Server 2005.I need to move the data to my website, how do I do that? I have the SQL Server Management Studio Express but I couldn't not get it to export the data in .sql file (which is needed to import to my website's SQL database). Please let me know of any tools I need to perform the task. thanks.
I have a chart I am producing in .net and I need to values. The problem is the values (sums) i need are on 2 different servers. Is there any where to combine the query using two databases? Does anyone have any suggestions?
I develop ASP.NET applications and use MS SQL 2000 Enterprise.
Each customer has one database and one custom design application. And, there is a gateway and a central database to get data from all databases.
Supposed there are 10 DBs. I want the data in those 10 databases updating to the central database directly. So, the gateway can gather all data of 10 DBs from a central DB.
Now, my question is how should I do it in MS SQL 2000? Can I do it with a stored procedure (SP)? If so, how does the SP like?
Or, SP can only perform on it's own DB, but not execute across DBs? If so, how can I do that?
I have a web app that has been regulated to a disconnected PC. It's runing IIS and 2.0 with sql server express, but no connectivity. I have changes that are made to some of the data in the db (data, bot schema). There is one particular table that I cannot overwrite, and must extract the data. What methods are available to do this swap of data between databases? I was thinking of doing something like this: Track last date that remote db was updated. Upload updated database into data directory, loop through records for all affected tables, any date that was past logged date then update the record if it exists or insert new record, and then loop through the remote db and delete this records that dont exist in the updated db. This seems intensive and slow - especially as the tables get bigger but I can't think of another solution that can be done by a user using sometime of web interface.
I faced a problem. I found all data/records of tables in a few databases were missing yesterday. I don't know what had happened. Can anyone tell me why? Can anyone tell me how to trace the root of the problem. Any log files I can trace? I fear it will happen again. My server is sql2000 and run on win server 2000.
Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to compare data in two different databases (both SQL7.0), with same exact schema. If possible, how could we do it?
If I have to copy data from one database to a temporary database on the same server, which transaction log will be written to as a result? Will it be the DB that the command is run from, the source DB, or possibly tempdb's log?
