I have an SQL Server 2005 installed on Windows 2003 64 bit server (no itanium)
I have a 32 bit client where I run Management Studio.
This is the full detail of the error:
--------------------------------------------
Msg 7403, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" has not been registered.
--------------------------------------------
I have tried installing a new 64bit Jet driver, but it only exists for Itanium.
How to force the system to use the 32 bit one?
I am stuck!
The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" has not been registered
Enviromnet :
Windows 2003 64 bit with SP1 and sql 2005 installed.
Same code is executing fine in my local machine which is XP 32 bit.
Can some one help me in resolving this issue.
Also when I tried to check the providers by expanding the linked servers node in the SQL server management studio . i couldnt found the provider for jet.
I am on an XP Pro 32-bit laptop, running SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. I want to import an Excel spreadsheet into one of my databases using (formerly known as) DTS. The Excel spreadsheet was created in 2003 (I have Office 2007 installed on this laptop). Whenever I try and do any OleDb import, I get the error:
TITLE: SQL Server Import and Export Wizard ------------------------------ The operation could not be completed. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. (System.Data) ------------------------------ BUTTONS: OK ------------------------------
I cannot install/reinstall MDAC because I have the latest version. What else can I try?
As additional information, I also get the error when trying to import anything into or export anything out of Access 2007. I'm pretty sure MDAC is awful, but I still need OleDb providers for much of the work I am doing.
I am trying to establish a connection to an Oracle database using the following code in a script task:
Dim oOleDbConnection As OleDbConnection Dim sConnString As String = _ "Provider=OraOLEDB.Oracle;" & _ "Data Source=DBxxx;" & _ "User ID=Userxxx;" & _ "Password=Passxxx" oOleDbConnection = New OleDb.OleDbConnection(sConnString) oOleDbConnection.Open() When I execute the script task, I receive the following error: The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle' provider is not registered on the local machine. Am using the correct provider? I do not know how to resolve the said error. Here are some facts: Oracle 8i is installed. Tnsnames.ora is updated. I have successfully connected to Oracle SQL *Plus to test the above credentials. Please help. Thanks.
SP2 for SQL Server 2005 x64 has been less than happy for me.
The initial problem, mentioned in another thread, concerned SSIS client which stopped liking Data Flow components. It was solved by a removal and reinstallation of the client tools.
However, there now seems to be a problem with making use of the Teradata oledb provider within SSIS. Prior to the installation of SP2 there was no problem.
I create a new SSIS package Add a Data Flow component Within the data flow add an oledb source Create a new connection - using the Teradata oledb provider Test the connection (it works!) Use SQL something like "select * from some_teradata_table_on_the_TD_server" Click on columns, wait a second, a list of columns is returned Add a SQL Server destination (with a new SQL Server connection) Connect the two components Save the package
Click go The TD oledb source component turns bright red and the error is "class not registered"
I have uninstalled the TD oledb provider (and underlying TD components) and re-installed (32-bit and 64-bit) - no change
I am running Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition SP 2
I have created an integration package in VS 2005 which extracts data from Access 2000 and imports it into a table on SQL server 2005 running on this server.
The package runs ok in Visual Studio 2005, but when i schedule it as a step in 2005 SQL Agent to execute as a SQL Server Integration package using SQL Agent Service Account it comes with the following error - I did a bit of research which suggests this is due to SQL 64 bit and Windows 64b bit, however I am running 32 bit !! also the sql server agent is a domain admin user...can you gurus please help ?

hi i have another question.. is this connection provider supported on servers running under 64 bits???? if not? which provider should i use instead??? is there any service pack or upgrades for this ???
i think this is the problem running my job.. there's no other option left.. it is not permissions.. the path of the connection manager exists, the file destination does exist as well.. the curious thing is that my dts runs fine from SSIS but fails using the job..
do i need to have installed excel in my server to do this or any other component?????
Previously i was using oracle8i with ssis.ssis was working fine.later i have upgraded 8i to oracle 9i.now when ever i try to establish a new connection using Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Oracle.i am getting the following error "Oracle error occurred, but error message could not be retrieved from Oracle" .but i am able to access the oracle 9i database thru pl/sql and toad. what could be the problem?
I am writing an interface between SQL Server and Access. I have chosen to use a linked server using the Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 provider. One of the requirements is to have multiple SQL statements in one transaction, which is where I am encountering the problem. (see below)
BEGIN TRAN
INSERT INTO ACCES...Table
Msg 7390, Level 16, State 2, Line 2
The requested operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "HES" does not support the required transaction interface.
I am having a really really hard time finding documentation on the Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 provider, specifically I want to know for sure if it supports the ITransactionJoin interface.
The main question is - does MS Access linked servers support transactions?
Thank you for your help,
I have exausted all resources available to me in finding out the answer.
When executing the select statement I get following error message
OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "XLS" returned message "Unspecified error".
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "XLS".
Strange is that when I run this code on dev machine it works fine. But when I try to execute it on my second (pilot) machine it ends with the error message posted. I'm not a admin on the pilot machine so I don't know it's exact configuration but I'm beeing assured that the only difference is that on pilot machine there is no Visual Studio installed.
I want to create a table in MS-Access. So I have written the following query.
Code Snippet select * from Openquery(KKACC, 'select * Into Temp from Table select 1 as col1')
But I am getting the following error.
Code Snippet
OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "KKACC" returned message "Syntax error in FROM clause.". Msg 7321, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 An error occurred while preparing the query "select * Into Temp from Table select 1 as col1" for execution against OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "KKACC".
How can I resolve this error. Does any one have any work arround for this..?
I got a problem with datatransfer via Microsoft.JET.OLEDB.4.0.
As long as I use the following statement it's working but only 255 Characters will be transferred to Excel.
INSERT INTO OPENROWSET('Microsoft.JET.OLEDB.4.0','Excel 8.0;HDR=YES;Database=C:xxxxxx.XLS','SELECT F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6,F7,F8,F9,F10,F11,F12 FROM [Tabelle1$]')SELECT TOP 65000 [Störungsnummer], CONVERT(varchar(50),[Annahmedatum],120) AS [Annahmedatum], CAST([Teilnehmernummer A] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [Teilnehmernummer A], CAST([Annahmeperson] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [Annahmeperson], [Annahmeplatz], CAST([Störungscode] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [Störungscode], [Störungscode Nummer], CAST([Störungsmeldungstext] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [Störungsmeldungstext], CAST([Wartungsvertrag] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [Wartungsvertrag], CAST([SOSegment] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [SOSegment], CAST([Kundensegment] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [Kundensegment], CAST([TDV] AS VARCHAR(255)) AS [TDV] FROM [yyyyyyyyyyyy].
As soon as I try to extend the varchar over the limit of 255 the following error occurs:
String or binary data would be truncated. Export ERROR: XLS - Export in work.. (Microsoft.JET.OLEDB) The statement has been terminated.
Question: Is it possible to transfer more than 255 Characters into an Excel-Cell? If yes, whats wrong with the statement above?
I have a stored proc that runs and produces an Excel 2007 file. I can run it fine within SQL Server Management Studio. Basically, this is a partial code in the stored proc:
-- export sql server table data to excel 2007
insert into OPENROWSET('microsoft.ace.oledb.12.0',
'Excel 12.0;Database=D: emp est2007.xlsx;',
'SELECT * FROM LicensesrRegion') select * from Licenses
BUT when I have an execute SQL task to run that stored proc in an SSIS package, I received the following error: Ad hoc access to OLE DB provider 'microsoft.ace.oledb.12.0' has been denied. You must access this provider through a linked server.
Please advise.
PS: I have to run that stored proc in an SSIS package because the SSIS package does some prereq stuff ( create folder, copy template to new Excel output file) then finally calls the aforementioned stored proc.
Hi! I have just installed Microsoft OLEDB provider for DB2 on a SQL server 2005. I created a Linked server against our DB2 V.8 Z/OS database. I tested the connection via execution of a simple select call, something like:
SELECT FIELD_A FROM DB2SRV.DB2DB.CREATOR_A.TABLE_A WHERE FIELD_A='ABC'
I traced the call on the DB2 site. The SQL running on DB2 site was to my surprise without the €œwhere clause€?:
SELECT FIELD_A FROM DB2DB.CREATOR_A.TABLE_A
So, all rows are moved to SQL server before the where clause is executed, resulting in bad performance. The index on FIELD_A is not used and so on €¦ !
If anyone out there has an idea of what could be wrong, please let me know!
NB. I know that by using OPENQUERY pass-through query, all execution is done on the DB2 site.
This is a problem that never get solved, sometime I can use other way to avoid it, but havn't found a solution yet, i hope I can get some more idea here.
I am using SQL 2005, when I run
select * into #import1 from OpenRowSet('microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0','Excel 8.0;hdr=yes;database=\ws8webjeff2.xls', 'select * from [jeff2$]')
I get
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0" for linked server "(null)".
when I try to compile a SP with that statement in it, I get the same error, like
create stored procedure test
as begin
select * into #import1 from OpenRowSet('microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0','Excel 8.0;hdr=yes;database=\ws8webjeff2.xls', 'select * from [jeff2$]')
end
so it seems the error may not relate to the real file, since at the compile stage, it should not check the real file?
On my live db, after I restart the SQL service, the statement will work, after a while, one or several days, I get the same error again. I can not restart my live db quite often for sure, so now I have another backup db server, I need run the statement on the backup server and then read the data from there.
I have the same problem at two places, both use SQL 2005.
So far there are three questions
1, why it works after restart, but only last for a while? something about memory? since the backup db seldom need restart and work fine after many days.
2, why it gives error in compile stage?
3, why two dbs in different Enviroment has the same problem
The most answer I have gathered so far is permission issue, true I got similar error if the import file is located in a place which SQL has no right to access. But in this case, it should not be.
On my dev server I have working ssis packages that use connections Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle MSDAORA.1 and Oracle provider for oledb and OracleClient data provider.
I use one or the other according to my needs.
In anticipation and to prepare for the build of a new production server, I have build a test server from scratch and deployed to it the entire dev.
Almost everything works except Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle.
ssis packages on the test machine will return an error
Error at Pull Calendar from One [OLE DB Source [1]]: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "one.oledb" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
Error at Pull Calendar from One [DTS.Pipeline]: component "OLE DB Source" (1) failed validation and returned error code 0xC020801C.

An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Oracle error occurred, but error message could not be retrieved from Oracle.".
I have used the same installers for OS, SQL and Oracle SQL*Net on both dev and test machines. The install and then the restore/deployment on Test went fine.
Does anyone could point me to the right direction to solve this issue?
I have designed a DTS package which will migrate a view from Sqlserver 2000 to Oracle. My package is using Microsoft OLEDB provider for Oracle driver for connecting to oracle.Im able to execute this package on the my system ie on the system where sqlclient is installed(Oracle client is also installed on my machine) .But when im doing it on the server im not able to do it.The Connection to Oracle Fails. I wanted to know in order to connect to Oracle from the server,is it necessary that Oracle has to be installed on the server?.If yes, is it enough if i install oracle client on the server or Oracle Server version has to be installed on Server.
I got an error when i do an OLE db Source pointing to an sql 2000 database and executing a sql query inside the OLE Source. The ole source will point to an OLE DB destination which is an sql 2005 database.
But i got the below error:

I have a query that executes just fine except that it won't recognize varchar(255) ( or any other value within the () ) and if I leave it off like this: varchar, then it executes but it leaves that value as 1 and that is just not very useful for my purposes. This also happens with anything else that requires () to add length such as char(), or nvarchar(), etc... Any ideas?
On the machine on which I want to put my database, there is already a Registered server called berlinsophos - berlin is the name of the machine and sophos relates to the anti-virus system that has been installed on this computer. I added my database to this server - but on reflection have thought that this might not be best practice since the Sophos so closely tied with computer security. Or perhaps, it was just a name that the person setting up the server gave the name to the first registered SQL Server on the machine.
