After reinstalling several times the MSSQL 2005 express, and the SP1 when I'm trying to create a project with the BIDS I've got an error:
Could not load file or assembly
Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer
Version=9.0.242.0
..
or one of its dependencies. System cannot find the file.
The report comes up, we enter the selection criteria and it fails with:
The type Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.ReportViewerTemporaryStorage, ReportingServicesWebUserInterface, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91 does not implement ITemporaryStorage or could not be found
I am getting the following errors in my reporting server log. Can anyone help me?

Does anyone know the location of Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.UI.WebParts.dll after you install the web part? I am wondering if I can inherit from this web part to wrap some other functionality into it. I know that i see it in the GAC buyt can't seem to find it so I can look at the assembly using reflector.
Also, how easy is it to pass in parameters to the Report Viewer?

Hi, I learned this from one of SSIS book-Migrating from Data Transformation Services to Integration Services in SQL.
For the design time components, Microsoft has created a special distribution called the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 DTS Designer Components. The Designer Components distribution replaces the components that get uninstalled when you upgrade your last instance of SQL Server 2000. If you want to upgrade all your SQL Server 2000 instances, this is the best and only option for recovering the DTS designer.
Is anybody heard of this 2005 DTS Designer component? Where to download? How it works? Any experience to will be appreciated.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components has cause a total destruction of my Enterprise Manager.
In my workstation I've got Sql Server 2000 client and Sql Server 2005 client. Everything goes fine up to here. But when I've installed that MSI I have not been able to open my Enterprise Manager.
From MMC appears: Error initializing component CLSID: {xxx.xxx}
My goal was be able to open 2000 stuff from Sql Management Studio. By the moment, I'm forget of that.
Is there a X64 version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components from Feature pack for SQL Server 2005?
I have installed an X86 version on the AMD64 machine. But when I open a sql 2000 dts package, there is always a warning window.
The Message is as follows:
SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer components are required to edit DTS packages. Install the special Web download, "SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components" to use this feature. (Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.ObjectExplorerUI.LegacyActionBase.CreateLegacyDesigner() at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.ObjectExplorerUI.OpenLegacyPackageAction.Act(INodeInformation nodeInfo) at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.ObjectExplorerUI.DtsServerMenuItem.Invoke(INodeInformation parent, String mode, String assembly, String type)
There are two same assemblys called 'Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsObjectExplorerUI' in the GAC, and one is GAC cache type, the other is zap cache type.
I did something bad (I don't recall what it was) and I can no longer log into Reporting Services. I wish I could list everything I've tried but I've been at it so long I don't remember. And I've been through the ringer of error messages.
Is there a way I can completely reset and/or restart all the settings from the original install - without doing a new install? I am afraid I am going to mess up SSAS, SSMS, SSIS and something else.
We are using MS Reporting Services to generate Xmls for corporate billing statements. Our DBAs found that MS ReportingServices are querying Oracle Catalogue before executing stored procedures in RDLs to get Oracle parameter information. Is there a way to eliminate the trip to database before executing the stored procedures?
I have a vb.net application using report services that has a big delay when I set the parameters with which to call the report.
I create a new reporting.reportviewer.
I set the ReportServerCredentials.NetworkCredentials, ReportServerUrl, ProcessingModem, ReportPath and everything is fine.
When I call SetParameters with a very simple parameter set, I get a delay of between 0.5 and 2.5 seconds. That delay is very noticible to the users. Below is an extract of a sql profiler trace to a database showing the start time, end time, event class and data text of the sql. I've marked the area with the delay in red.
I have no idea what is happening at that time, but Is there anything I can do to get rid of that delay?
It seems that it could be the first time the my application has had to interface with reporting services.
We're trying to use the WebServiceTask to retrieve a report from the SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) web service but getting a "This version of the Web Services Description Language (wsdl) is not supported." error after selecting the Service on the inputs tab. Some additional information...
- I can get other web services to work just fine.
- the SSRS web service works fine as I can download the wsdl in the task window, and we have successfully worked around this issue by creating a proxy class in .NET code and called it through the ScriptTask to get the results we need.
- I'm pretty certain the SSRS server is the 2005 version but can't confirm this.
So the problem seems to be just that SSIS can't read the wsdl created by SSRS.
As said we've worked around the problem successfully but would prefer to use the built in functionality, which should work especially to SSRS. Any help, advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have a query that executes just fine except that it won't recognize varchar(255) ( or any other value within the () ) and if I leave it off like this: varchar, then it executes but it leaves that value as 1 and that is just not very useful for my purposes. This also happens with anything else that requires () to add length such as char(), or nvarchar(), etc... Any ideas?
I'm not asking a lot. I just want to know if I can connect from anExchange server to a SQl server without having to use Access linkedtables. Surely MS must have had a look at this but I can't findanything out there.Help appreciated.Ginters
"Failed to copy objects from Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft SQL Server "
I keep getting this when trying to copy stored procs from one db to another on the same server. I am using the DTS wizard. I have been able to copy the tables but I need the sp's too, and there are too many to copy one at a time.
In VS 2005, when we choose database connection, we can choose one of the above. My question is in what situations should we choose MS SQL Server Database File (SqlClient), and when should we choose Microsoft SQL Server?
I want to deploy a standalone desktop application with a backend database. Which backend database should I should and which of the above connection should I choose?
On localhost this application works fine but when I put on remote server. I am getting following errors. For both localhost and server, I am using same remote sql 2000. I will appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Arif

Hello everybody! I've already posted this question before but this error never been resolved. My DTS designer is totally screwed. When trying to create new local package getting error message "Could not create Component Categories Manager". I can't even use DTS to copy data in using DTS wizard. Somebody recommended to reinstall SQL Server which I did but it didn't solve my problem.
Does any one know of a way that a group of my developers can use this without giving them access to the rest of Enterprise manager?
Want to give them access to write queries and they are all Access developers so that I have to do as little training as possible then letting them have Query designer would keep them in their nice little world without hassing me to much.
