Hi guys, I've tried to back a database from a server on the net ie: discountasp.net by using Microsoft SQL 2005 Express management tool.
After all the set up:
(1) the part "Destination", in the "Disk" radio button was cheked, the path for the backup file shows like: D:MSSQL.1MSSQLBackupmyDatabase.back; As I understand D: is the CD drive(?), so I put a CDisc in the drive, and kept going with the process. The Process went very well and inform that the Database has been fully backed up. But I never have found the "saved" or "backed up" that I backed up. Can anyone show me where this backup Database in that D: drive, and where is that D: drive anyway?
(2) In that "destination" part, if I clicked "add", and then typed in the path address part like: C:....mybackupDatabase.bak for example, the the tool gave me the error: ... not set to an instance ...; I counldn't even select the Browse to browse to the directory that I wanted to back up the Database.
I have just downloaded VB Express, that comes with SQL Express
In order to manage and use SQL databases it seems I have to use SQL Studio Mgt Tool. But, where is it? I can only see Configuration Tools, but not any Mgt tool or DB Engine......

I copied these T-SQL statements from a book and I do not know how to correct them. Please help and tell me how to correct these errors.
Where is my databases? I have 2 different DotNetNuke installations on this machine running very well but in the db management tool I cannot find my databases ... I am positive that they are there somewhere collection/holding data but why doesn't they appear in the SQL Express management tool?
My connection string is the classic:
which says there should be at least one databse --> Database.mdf

I 'm getting this error on expanding the + nodes in SQL Server Management Studio Express Object Explorer:i.e. Database -> System Databases -> Any DB selected and expanding the Tables node When I click on the nodes for Tables for any of my databases, I see it saying expanding..., but then a message box errors pops up. I have created a new database using Visual Web Developer and wanted to manage it using either the SQL Server Management Tool or MS Access via ODBC. Niether of these tools will connect to the database. The database file , called srx.mdf, the connection string is Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:InetpubwwwrootSRExchangeApp_Datasrx.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True I can however connect successfully to the master file, the conenction string for this is Data Source=.sqlexpress;Integrated Security=True Any help appreciated.

I was having some trouble with the DTS Wizard and so I thought I'd just reinstall the whole MSSM. I used remove programs, rebooted my Vista computer and am trying to reinstall the Server Express Toolkit. It tells me that MSSM already exists on my computer (which it doesn't).
The actual screen reads:

How do I reinstall MSSM now? It's gone from my computer.
Was trying to open AdventureWorks when i got this error: "There is no editor available "C: Program Flies.....AdventureWorksDW_Log.LDF' Make sure the application for the file type(.LDF) is installed. How can this error be corrected? I also have some error on mdf not installed.May i know how should be the initally steps to be done inorder for me to view this database. And if i do have a database from microsoft access, what are the steps that i need to do inorder to get it export to Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. I have just found out i/we need to upgrade to the full version of this management tool to make use of SSRS for a new CRM we are putting in place, The CRM company tells me we can just install the tool from our SQL 2005 disk.
Im wondering what the best way to go about this is? i would guess we just un-install the express version install the full version of the management tool and reconnect to the database. unless im missing anything?

i don't know if it was mentioned before, but i solved the issue that Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express won't show the option to create/modify a sql compact database by installing not this Version:

If I try to download using a download manager it stops after 98% (the segment that stops is the first segment). If I try to download without a download manager it stops after 1% (456Kb).
What can I do?

How does one export/copy a database using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express? At this time, I have an existing database that I can access and run queries against. However, I cannot connect to it via Visual Wed Developer 2005 Express. At this time, I'm getting the following error message with the existing database:
Login failed for user 'bigide2_gims2'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server Connection.
Next, I'm running everything locally. If anyone can assist, it would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
I installed the managerment stuid on my machine and now none of my database connections seem to work any more. I keep getting the attached error. Before I installed the studio the system worked fine, I could connect to the database and everything was fine. Does the studio change any permission stuff? I cannot seem to get it to work again at all now, I added in aspnet as a login inside the studio and it still won't let me connect to the database. I cannot find *any* logs anywhere that might be helpful in what it is doing or see any way to debug the connection to find out what the problem is. When I look at the permissions inside of the studio it shows me that the connections should all be fine.
I checked and remote and local connections are setup, although it is only doing local connections anyway since this is a asp.net web server page.
Any idea what the problem is here? This is very frustrating and annoying :( Since I didn't change anything and now nothing I will do gets it to work. I even tried to uninstall the management tool and it still doesn't work. Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'GREENANDFLUFFYASPNET'.

I have uninstalled the SQL Server Express Edition that I have installed from the CDs that were given to me during a Chicago Conference when READY TO LAUNCH Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER 2005, and Biz Talk 2005. Then I went to microsoft website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/register/default.aspx and downloaded and installed the so called Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I got the messages Error that you read below. Then I Uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and went again to msdn website and downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Advanced Services SP1 and installed it. I got again the same message as below.
MESSAGE:
1. First comes a window with the title: €œsetup.exe €“ Unable to Locate Component€? And it displays a message: This application has failed to start because MSTDCPRX.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. 2. After I click the OK button of this window it comes another window with the title: €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Server Setup€? For the first time, I want to set up the configuration of my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) to allow me in doing the non-User-Instance/ADO.NET 2.0 programming from my VB 2005 Express. I've seen the following error posted when people try to connect to their server via their applications but didn't see anyone having problems when trying to connect with SQL Server Management Studio Express. On my home machine without permanent network connections enabled, I cannot get the Management Studio connect to the database server. Always get this error:

I have used the SQL Surface Area Configuration Tool to reset the defaults to allow remote connections, stopped and restarted the server, but still get the same message.
Hi guys, I am using DLinq with SQL Server Express 2005 and I need to install some kind of user interface which shows me a trace of the SQL statements sent. I would like to see them in real time (I won't like to inspect a log after :-). I remember that there was something similar in SQL Server 2000 full edition, but I requiere the same functionality in the Express version now.

In the last one and half years, I used the Northwind Database in SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) to learn the programming of SqlConnections, Data sources, Database Exploere, ADO.NET 2.0, etc. via VB 2005 Express.
The Northwind Database in my SSMSE got lost very often, but I was not aware of it. How can I know where the Northwind Database is used or processed by my VB 2005 Express projects that were the examples of some tutorial books or my trial projects? How can I release the Northwind Database back to my SSMSE from the VB 2005 Express projects? Please help and advise.
I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, I can login to it just fine using SQL Server Management Studio Express. I ran the aspnet_regsql and it created the aspnetdb database. But when I try to test the AspNetMembershipProvider or go to the Security tab in the ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool it does not work. I have tried messing with the connectionString of the LocalSqlServer in the machine.config, but to no avail. My SQL Server is installed on the Default Instance. Can someone help me get ASP.NET Web Site Administrator to work with my SQL Server 2005 Express Edition?

I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I have also downloaded the Sql Server Express toolkit from the Microsoft site in order to get access to the server's Reporting Services. The toolkit, according to Microsoft, should have included a cut-down version of the Business Intelligence Development Studio. The problem is that after downloding and installing I cant find Business Intelligence development Studio. The shortcut in the start menu brings me to Visual Studio 2005 and not to Business Intelligence Development Studio. Am I missing something?
