Microsoft SQL Isapi Extension ERROR And SQLXML 3.0

Hi,
I'm using WinXP SP 2, IIS 5.1, SQL Server 2005 Standard, and Visual Studio 2005 Professional.
When I create a virtual directory with IIS Virtual Directory Management for SQLXML 3.0, I get a Microsoft SQL isapi extension error when going to the default page.
If I delete the virtual directory, and then add it directly in the IIS snap-in, with executable permissions, all goes well.
My website is from the Wrox book, Beginning ASP.NET 2.0. An appendix in the book says to add the virtual directory with the SQLXML 3.0 tool, and not to use IIS. I'm very new to this, so I'm not sure if I'll lose functionality down the road or not, by using IIS.
Has anyone run into this before or have any ideas how to get sqlxml 3.0 virt. dir's to work?

Hello,
I'm trying to follow a sample from microsoft for Using SQLXML Bulk Load in the .NET Environment
In the sample c# console app. it says to select add reference then In the COM tab, select Microsoft SQLXML Bulkload 4.0 Type Library (xblkld4.dll) and click OK.
The problem I have is I cannot find the library or the xblkd4.dll file on my pc.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be much appreicated.

I Configured WebSync through SQL Server 2005 on a Windows 2003 Standard Server. IIS,CA and Application Pool are also configured.
When I try to browse https://Localhost/SalesOrders/Replisapi.dll it gives me a message "The page cannot be displayed".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to report server custom security.
I face the following problem and want to ask if there is a simple way to solve.
we have already running an IS API Filter which handles the authentication for all websites. The fiter is built to secure all websites. It verfies access to URLs and authrize users against an LDAP Directory. Affer the user has authenticated he can connect to the website. The ISAPI Filter sets the LOGONUSER Severvariable so the website can do userspecific filtering.
With the same ISAPI Filter we want to secure report server.
We want to setup roles with usernames to allow or deny specific reports. (this usernames should be validated against the servervariable LOGONUser - by String Comparison).
We do not have any windows authenitcation - and do not need.
The ReportServer User Variable should return this LOGON User to allow report secific data filtering
Is this possible - and explanation how?

Hi guys!
I am having a problem with the e-mail delivery extension in MS SQL Reporting Services 2005. I have some reports that use an Oracle data source. When running the reports through Report Manager the data source works fine and the reports display properly. But when running an automatic e-mail delivery of the reports through a subscription I get the following error message (in the ReportServerService log file):
System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
Doesn't this seem strange when the reports run in Report Manager but not when I send the reports through e-mail? I have Oracle Instant client v. 10.2.0.3 installed on the machine. I am wondering if the e-mail delivery extension has an account that needs privilegies to the oracle client home directory or something like that. Any ideas?

Can anyone tell me what the heck this is trying to tell me. I have 3 datasets I'm working with so there are errors for each here:
[rsMissingFieldInDataSet] The data set €˜Revenue_By_Client€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Branch€™. This field is missing from the returned result set from the data source.
[rsErrorReadingDataSetField] The data set €˜Revenue_By_Client€™ contains a definition for the Field €˜Branch€™. The data extension returned an error during reading the field.

I need help about this , What i've done so far is a data processing extension that gets its data from a WS , I use it as a datasource for a report , That report will be displayed withing an ASPX page containing a reportviewer control that displays that report , The problem is catching errors that occurs withing the data processing extension .. ,
When i debugged the extension i saw that after throwing an exception the code ends up inside the "cancel()" event inside the IDBcommand implementation...
In all examples for a data processing extension i could find online they always have a comment saying the cancel is not implemented and throw a NewUnsupportedExtension()..
What happens is i get some uninformative , non-userfriendly error from the reporting services ,
something like "an error occurred during the report processing(rssomehing)"
How should i go about handling those exception that happened inside the data processing extension?
I've tried catching the error inside the event of the reportviewercontrol - reporterror but it seems that event don't fire when those errors are generated..
Any help on how to approach this would be highly welcome

Hi all: I am getting the following error when I try to review the deployed reports on localhost.
"An error has occurred during report processing.
An attempt has been made to use a data extension 'OLEDB' that is not registered for this report server."
I checked the report manager, and for "connection type", there is a warning message as shown below:
"The data processing extension used for this report is not available. It has either been uninstalled, or it is not configured correctly."
I will appreciate any help in this regard.

I have written CDE to retrieve and process data before generating the report. It works very well inside VS.Net. However, when deployed to the report server I get the following error

I am using Custom Data Processing Extension to call a stored procedure. Iam getting following error when creating a dataset in report designer using the extension. I wrote the code in c#.

We are using RS2005 for a year now and never had any problems especially with mail subscriptions.
Since we transferred from single RS machine to web farm everything works ok except mail subscriptions. Subscription sometimes (?!?!?!?!) refuse to export report to a document of any kind. I repeat that this is a random thing which is more often with PDF and less with Web Archive or Excel. We are using shared schedules and on demand execution of AddEvent stored procedure by night batches to send mail to users. Also, original error from RS log says something that this kind of operation is not supported for server working in native mode. We don't have SharePoint so we never used it in any other way then native mode and it worked.
Any idea will be appreciated!

It seems that problem is not loading dll used to export report to a file but loading email subscription extension (dll that needs to be loaded for execution of email subscription.)

I understand that SQLServer 2005 has SQLXML built in, which can be accessed using ADO.Net. Can it also be accessed using COM ADO? When I changed the connection string to this:

I've used SQLXML to generate WSDL from a sample stored procedure that returns customerID and contactName from the 'northwind' database based on a runtime-supplied parameter.
However, the generated WSDL doesn't explicitly name the two columns (customerID and contactName) that the procedure returns. I've tried all of the possible combinations of 'row formatting; and 'output as' when configuring the virtual name. Instead, I get the following:

- <xsd:complexType>
- <xsd:sequence>
<xsd:element minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" name="RobTestResult" type="sqlresultstream:SqlResultStream" />
</xsd:sequence>

To parse the results, I would have to cast the information correctly, which requires some hard-coding. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to force the WSDL file to correctly list out the individual elements in the result set?

Hi,
I am trying to create a linked server between 2 SQL Server 2005 boxes.
When I create the linked server I specify a login for the connection.
The strange part is that I get the following error when it goes to test the connection:
The test connection to the linked server failed
Login failed for user 'Domainuser'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)
I can use the SQL mangement studio to conenct to the database using this same login.
The login has all the server roles assigned to it also.
Can anyone shed some light as to what may be the problem?

I have installed Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Evaluation & Sql Server 2008 June CTP.
When I am trying to connect to Database Engine through Sql Server Management Studio then it Throws following Error

where "MDT1000" is my machine name and "ADITYA" is Sqlserver name.
if some have any idea please suggest me what is wrong.

I am trying to connect to my SQL Server 2005 but it gave me following error message.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
So, Please help me to solve this problem.
