View 3 RepliesI've read here at [URL] that with 32 bit it's recommended to only have 10 database mirrors per instance. However, is there a limit for 64 bit SQL Server 2012?
We're having a problem where we have about 300+ databases and now any new db's we add are timing out when it comes to setting up mirroring and am wondering if this is limited by the instance.
I have SQL Server 2008 R2 database mirroring setup with witness. Below database connection string is used by the application
jdbc:sqlserver://<Server_A>MSSQLSERVER;databaseName=<Mirrored_DB>;port=1433;failoverPartner=<Server_B>MSSQLSERVER
During some maintenance activity at the OS side , I tried to manually failover database from Server_A to Server_B. It took long time for failover to Server_B. While failing over the Mirrored_DB database goes in In Recovery status and application is not able to connect to database. I waited for long time more than 40 mins for database to come online on Server_B but it did not work.So I have recovered database on Server_B using RESTORE DATABASE Mirrored_DB WITH RECOVERY.
After database was recovered on Server_B application was not able to connect to database with error as "The database <Mirrored_DB> on server Server_BMSSQLSERVER is not configured for database mirroring".
My Question is
Why manual failover did not get back database on secondary server upwhy the original connection string below is not able to connect to the database while database is online on Server_B but without mirroring
jdbc:sqlserver://<Server_A>MSSQLSERVER;databaseName=<Mirrored_DB>;port=1433;failoverPartner=<Server_B>MSSQLSERVER
Hi all,
I am trying to set up Database mirroring on my test & DR server. But , I am getting the following Error:
( On local PC Mirroring is successful).
Both the test & DR have same service accounts for SQL Server.
Thanks for all your help.
Thanks.

Does sql server limit max number of connections, or max connections open from a given source, or over a given time period?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition have a limit to the number of user logins I can make?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOur development team wanted to create a database user for each application user in the application and use these for granular data access control, which at first, sounded like a good idea but our initial testing ran into some interesting results.
Our target user base was about 15 million users with an estimated 1% concurrency rate, and finding no MS documentation on an upper limit to the number of users a database can have we began some load testing to see how the database performed. In the hundreds of thousands of users range our test database had a hard time performing well under light loads (even without any concurrent connections).
When we purged the users and reverted back to just a handful of service accounts, performance went back to "normal" under the same loads. I began to wonder if this is a situation where throwing more hardware at the problem would overcome the issue or if there is a practical upper limit to the number of users a single database can handle well.
(There were of course other cons to this arrangement and I certainly was never going to expand the users tree in the object explorer for a database like this, but we thought it a solution worth investigating.)
What is the largest number of users any of you have had in a single database?
i have created a new login in primary server and provided dbowner permission to primary db.how do i transfer this login to secondary server and assign the same permission to secondary db ?

WHY?
I have a 2 node cluster having 4 cores each wherein having 3 instances of SQL 2008 R2 enterprise comprising of 60 databases, 20 on each instance. I need to setup mirroring for each of the databases to a secondary server having 4 cores and 3 instances. What i understand is that in this case the mirror server will be providing max of 512 worker threads and the 60 mirror databases would consume 240 threads.what all needs to be checked for looking into the feasabilty of going ahead with a async mirror setup as mentioned above.

HI all !
I am having a bit of a problem trying to limit a number of columns in a matrix appearing on a page.
At the moment, I have a dataset that lists the month and the mail packages that were sent during the month
The matrix works great HOWEVER, if there were more than 8 months in the matrix columns, it does not break and would make the page look like a huge landscape page.
I am trying to limit the number of columns appearing (this is the months column) on the matrix so that the pages stay in a potrait position. IE: every 8 columns appear on one page. Is there an option or an expression I could use in the Matrix ?
Thanks!

Is there a limit of how many rows a table can have in SQL compact Edition? I didn't find anything in the documentation, but I get regularly a funny error message "Expression evaluation caused an overflow. [ Name of function (if known) = ]" when I try to create record number 32768 (is equal to 2 to the power of 15).
Where is this limit documented ?
