Missing Data Set When Trying To View For A Finished Report

Hi All,
I have a solution which is synchronised with visualsourcesafe. Now there are some reports present in the solution, I am able to view the preview of the reports but when I am going to view the dataset definition It is not able to retain its defintion and its becoming blank but this happens to only datasets which were developed from cube and its able to retain dataset which are developed from Database.
Any help would be of great use.

Is there a limit on the number of fields that can be displayed in a table object in a data source view in SSAS 05?
One of the tables (the fact table) in my data source view is displaying only 50 fields. The table actually has many more than that. One of the fields that is not displaying is a foreign key that I need to link to a new dimension table. I have tried refreshing the view, but it doesn't bring in any additional fields.

I've got a report that is using a cube as a data source and I can't get the report to show all the data. Only data at the lowest level of the cube is displayed. The problem is that most of the data I'm concerned with is at higher levels. There's no problem with the MDX. I get the correct results when I run the query.
I'm using a table to show the results. I've also tried a matrix, but I get the same results. I'm using SSRS 2005 and SSAS 2000.
Anyone have experience with this? Am I missing something simple?

I have a SSIS package which process 12699 files in a folder. After about 20 minutes it looks like the loading is finished (the record count of database table doesn't change any more) and I believe it's finished, but if I check the Progress tab, it's still showing the file name being processed and still moving. So my first question is: is it still loading files or it's just that the progress message is behind?
Then I click on stop debugging, after a while it stopped but then it's frozen, nothing responds no matter what I click. I haven't saved the package yet so I don't want to close it out. Should I just wait? And what is the problem?

p.s. I'm exploring SSIS and will convert our current DTS packages to SSIS so you'll see me post more and more questions down the road.

HI All,
I have a three table in my data base. I created a report using some of the fields in those three tables.
Table names are as follows.
Table1 - LoanApplication
Table2 - Member
Table3 - Rate
When I want to view sm fields from all three tables, it does not allow me to do that. I can not view data in the report.
I tried a query like this.

Hello,
I've created a Report Model Project that can be used by Report Builder to generate ad-hoc reports. I'm trying to create a connection string in my Report Server Project that points to the Report Model Project data source view.
All I can do is create a regular datasource, which bypasses the metadata contained in the Data Source View.
Basically I want my Report Server Project and my Report Builder reports to leverage the same metadata. Is this possible? If so how do I get the connection string?

How does the report model know what data source view to use? I could not find it defined anywhere in the .smdl file.
My problem is this. I have a Report Model project with two data sources, two data source views and multiple report models. When I try and bind a data source to an entity in the report model I do not get to choose which data source view to use to choose what table/view I want to bind the entity too and only the tables in one of my DSV's shows up. When I first created it, it worked fine. It automatically selected the correct view and table and was successfully created but now when I open the project, that correlation is lost.
Any suggestions or help is appreciated, thanks.

We've built an oltp that uses nothing but synonyms that reach out to various DB's in the organization thru linked servers.
The issue that we are having is Data Source Views can only see tables and views. Is it possible to use synonyms? If not what would be a work around.

In Report Builder 1.0 you could drag a column to a filter and see the data before select the values for the filter.I can't find a way to do that in report builder 3.0. is it possible to see the data of a column in Report builder or SSRS?

Hi,
I am facing an issue, while exporting report to excel.
I have a report where some legends are being displayed on coversheet using matrix. The contents are fetched from backend.Some of legends have got too much of text while others don't have much.In matrix properties, I checked can increase/decrease to accommodate changes. When report runs in report viewer it shows correctly i.e. it adjusts its width according to contents but when same report is exported to Excel it doesn't happen so. The size of cell is not increasing dynamically, depending upon the data. User needs to expand the cell in order to view the data.
So, is there any option by which, we can implement data wrap functionality for matrix, when report is downloaded in excel format.
Your suggestion will be of great help.

I have a datasource view DSV1. It points to a datasource DS1 that is considered the "primary".
I have created a Report Model that uses DSV1 (and thus uses DS1)
I created a new datasource, DS2 that I would like to use instead of DS1. (I can't just modify DS1 because if I modify it, it will overwrite it when we go to our Production environment and break that datasource)
So, I can go into DSV1 and change all the references from DS1 to DS2.
But that's where the problem lies.
When I try to build, I get the following error:
"The Table property of the Entity "E1" refers to the Table "dbo_View", which is not in the primary data source."
Somehow, the entity is tied to the "primary" datasource. When I change it back to DS1, everything works fine. Any thoughts? What can I do?

Hi everyone!,
Our team is new to SSRS and we are trying to figure out how to refresh the data source view, autogenerate the corressponding report model and Re-Deploy the Report Model (rewrite existing Report Model) on the server on a periodoc basis or trigger the whole action whenever there is a change in the database on some specific tables.
We prefer to do this action through a Agent job ( a diff approach is also welcome).
Are there any stored procs out there?

Hi,
I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be?

usually we divide our table in to a smaller pieces and use view to get the big picture of it..
my task is to record any/every select statement on each table.. so logically we create view and is it possible to use trigger(to record the accesses) in view..

i have a report with an image on the footer. When i view the report in the designer/report manager or export to any format, everythings fine. Now i have a ASP.NET site which makes a webservice call to get HTML output from my report. in this case no image show up. I have some date criterias on my report that default and so I would like for the report not to display until the user clicks on the "view report" button.
Also, I would like to trap that button to send my own internal parameters to the report. How and where would I do that.
I'm running the report through report viewer and I have a subroutine that would refresh the report with my desired internal parameters. I just need to hook it up.

I've got a SQL Reporting Server 2000 SP2 report that takes 3 parameters. FromDT, ToDT, and LocationCD. The first two parameters are free form text fields that expect a date. The last one is a drop down box. For some reason, when I'm viewing the report through the standard reports folder on the report server I have to click the "View Report" button two times to get the report to render. Clicking it just once, doesn't seem to do anything. The report is a line graph.
There are default values in the FromDT and ToDT parameter fields.
Anyone have any ideas what would be causing the need for the second click?

Hi,
It appears to work fine on my end however on my clients end, whenever they try to print a report that displays perfectly within the report viewer to their printer by selecting the printer button in the report it never ends up printing.., however if they go into printer setup and change the page range to print from all pages to just maybe one page and then select the print button it seems to print fine..
The printer seems to receive the information as the light flashes but no page kick out when all pages is selected to print..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

I am having a hard time finding the report path for the web report Viewer in visual studio 2005. I have tried entering the absoute path to the folder containing the reports. this gave the error that the path is invalid. I have also tried reletive paths using / and // in the front of the name for each report. these all fail. could someone please assist with finding the path to the reports? the reports reside on another server away from the one being used for development of the web site.

Hello
I have set up a report with a field in a list as a link to another report . I am passing all the parameters in correctly (4 parameters : 1 from a field value and 3 from parameter values). When I run the report and click the link, it jumps to the other report but one parameter is missing a value - the parameter I got from the field value. I really donīt know why this is happening as it was working fine until I added another parameter to the reports and suddenly it doesnīt work anymore.
Is there a limit on the number of parameters I can pass or something?
Please help!

I created 3 tables in SQL server magmt studio as
student - sno (pk), sname
subjects - subno(pk), subname
marks - sno(fk), subno(fk), marks
While creating the report model:
1.Created the data source - no problem
2. created the data source view - no problem added all 3 tables here.
3. created the report model - only subject and student show up here. Where is the marks table?

Has anyone run across this before? I'm missing the Contents and Properties tab along with the button bar containing the "New Folder", "New Data Source", "Upload File" and "Show Details" buttons in the Report Manager. Also, which I think may be related, when I attempt to deploy a report I get the error: "A connection could not be made to the report server http://MyServer/Reports.

I hope someone can clarify what I observe below.
When I add a certain Table into my report model, one of the fields is not automatically converted into an attribute, but I'm not sure what the exact pattern is.
This table has 3 fields as its key, two of them get included and one does not. The one that does not, is also added as a Role as it is used in a relationship within the DSV (Data Source View).
Does anyone know what rules BIS (Business Intelligence Studio) uses in deciding which fields to automatically convert using the wizard and which to skip?
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, or there is a workaround?
If anyone can shed any light in the issue, I'd greatly appreciate their comment.

Hi,
I am using Microsoft.ReportViewer.WebForms ver 8.0 to display rdl reports in a web page. I'm using VS 2005 with service pack 1.
I set ReportServerCredentials using a custom class that implements IReportServerCredentials. It exposes NetworkCredentials using a valid admin user account. I am setting report parameters from code as:
ReportViewer1.ServerReport.SetParameters(parameters)
I find that when I run the page with reportserver credentials set, the parameters are not passed to the report and I get an error message, "Parameter, XXX is missing a value". I can see what parameters were sent by setting ShowParameterPrompts to True.
When I remove the credential settings,the parameter values do get set but the report throws the following error on execution:
Execution '2su5vg55juj253455rodai55' cannot be found
I have checked that my web project is using Kerberos authentication and not NTLM. Has anybody faced a problem like this? I would appreciate any help.

I have this on my page

WHen I execute the page after the SP it fills some datagrid but the data is not updated bacuase the job takes 1 minute or more to finish.
Is there anyway to prevent to show the old data? or to detect when the job has finished?

I am trying to create a SQL Job which will report on another job which hasn't finished within its normal completion time. I schedule the new job late enough after the first job that the first should have finished by then.
I would like to have just queried msdb..sysjobhistory.run_status. However, this seems to only report on job STEP status - and after the step is finished! It is always showing run status = 1 (Complete).
Does anyone know the base meta-data table and column I could query? Enterprise Manager shows the current status as running and I want to know where it gets that.
If it is still running, I will raise an error to notify our support group, etc.
PS: My job steps include a combination of DTSRun commands and TSQL commands. I don't think the flavour of commands should matter...

I'm trying to create a .htm file (a report from query results) on a webserver using SQL code.
TBL_LOGGEDIN_USERS_PERHOUR has just two columns. It gives the number of users logging in for hour.

This is the actual code which generates one .htm file every 24 hours with the count of hourly logins. So the entries (as per the below logic) start at 12:00 AM everyday and end at 11:00 PM. The catch is - the entries come up fine upto 10:00 PM. The '11:00 PM entry' is missing in all the .htm files. I tried several options and later, I 'force added' an ELSE IF condition especially for the 11:00 PM case, indicated in the code below but it doesn't seem to help...
Also, I'm not really sure if this is a row limitation in the .htm file - like x no: of rows per .htm file.
Am I missing something here?.. Please advise. Let me know if I'm not clear. Thank you.

We've been struggling for 2 days to try and figure this out. We create a report with images, both in gif and jpg, and then setup a subscription. When the report is generated in both 5.0 and all browser format, no images appear, just the red cross. Funny thing is that in Firefow the same htm document renders OK. We tried setting the configuration table row UseSessionCookies to False as posted by others but this did not work. It seems so simple it's silly. What are we doing wrong? The image is set to embedded. Also the charts are not showing either.
Any help is MOST appreciated!!
BTW, in pdf and mhtml the images are fine
We do not have and _ in the the server name and we have SP2 also installed on a W2K3 server
