Does anyone happen to know what authority is required to view the following in Enterprise Manager:
Database Maintenance Plans
Current Activity
SQL Server Logs
When I use EM to log onto SQL Server with a login that does not have sysadmin authority, I do not appear to have these options available when I expand the Management folder. I can find no reference to any specific authorities that are required in Books online and unable to find anything in the Knowledge Base about it either.
I can't believe that sysadmin authority is needed to view these.
I have an SQL cluster on Windows 2003 with 2 drives (1 for dbs and 1 for logs). Both of these drives are accessible from Windows explorer.
In Enterprise Manager only the db drive appears as a location to house dbs and logs.
I can't work out how to get the second drive to appear and adding the path manual doesn't work as I end up with the other drive letter appending to the front eg "y:z:logs"
Has anyone seen this or have any ideas how to fix it?
I insalled SQL 2000 server standard version on Windows 2000 server, then I applied SQL 2000 sp2 to it. Every step told me installation was successful.
Everything sounds working except following:
I lauch Enterprise manager, serverName / databaseName(ex. pubs) / Stored Procedure, then double click one of Stored Procedures, Stored Procedures properties window pop up. On the right top corner those three small buttons (minimize, resize and close) are missing. No way to close Stored Procedures properties window except using task manager to kill it. That drives me nut.
After running virus cleaning software on my HD, I suddenly find my Enterprise Manager snap-in missing and fail to initialize. Is the MMC erased or damaged? What should I do? Reinstall SQL Server 2000 or repair it? Please advise. Thanks.
I have installed SQL2005 enterprise edition default installation with SP2 to migrate over SQL7 instances. Installation was fine and migration was smooth. After completion, i tried to access the Maintenance tab but when i right-clicked, my only option there was refresh. There was nothing under the maintenance tab for me to create a new plan.
Is this problem anything to do with SP2. Anyone else had this similar problem? Do i have to install integration services too?
I want to be able to create business intelligence project for reporting but the business intelligence project option is not there when I go to file/new/project.
When I first installed visual studio I chose visual basic/web development as the preference would this prevent other project types from being displayed?
I am trying to import a flat file using the Wizard. That option does not show up. It shows up fine on my other machine. I installed 2005 Standard edition and they are still missing. I then uninstalled everything, rebooted and reinstalled Standard edition.
The flat file option is still missing. Any thoughts?
On one of our machines, all of the SQL Server 2000components except for the main Server component (SQL Servercore) itself were installed (Management tools, etc) a while agoand everything was running fine. Now I go and add/install theServer component and then Service Pack 3a.It seems that Service Manager won't start up (I get an hourglass cursor)and now I find that Enterprise Manager won't run as well. No errormessages appeared and I don't think I saw anything unusual inthe log file. However, I can use Enterprise Manager on a differentmachine and connect to the database (so the databaseitself seems to be running).Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how tofix it? I like to see if I can repair this without havingto do a reinstall.Thanks.PF
IF someone can assist me. Everytime I load up enterprise manager the service manager turns off. And the enterprise manager can't connect to the local database. But everytime i turn it back on and try to connect again it shuts it off and around and around we go. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have SRS configured in SharePoint Integration mode. I have exposed a site collection under two MOSS-enabled websites - the first site has Forms Authentication enabled and the second site has Windows Integrated security enabled.
I have noticed that when I access the website with Forms Authentication I an unable to select "New (Report Model/Report Builder/Report DataSource)" options on my SRS integrated document library. When I access the site using WIndows Integrated security the menu options appear fine. Is there some sort of security trimming happening here that I am not aware of?
I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. When i create a new database (using the "New Database" dialog) i cannot set the new database's compatibility level to "SQL Server 2005(90)" because this option is not in the "dropdown list". the only items shown are: "SQL Server 7.0(70)" and "SQL Server 2000(80)". I set the owner to "sa". How do i get "SQL Server 2005(90)" in my "compatibility level" drop down list? Is this an installation option that i missed? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
I installed SQL Server 2012 on a windows server 2012 that had an existing 2008 R2 SQL installation.
After the install I can see only the 32 bit network configuration options in SQL Server Configuration Manager for both versions. Before the install they were available in the 2008 R2 version of the tool.
ver: SQL-DMO Version: 8.00.760I have the option to automatically start SQL Server on startup, butwhen it does start up, the SQL Server Service Manager does not havethe green arrow indicating that it is active. When I double-click itto display the SQL Server Service Manager, it shows the name of theserver, but no services in the drop-down box. When I start Enterprise Manager I see an instance of MSDE wheresomeone installed an MSDE application. That is active. But I have to"connect" to the localhost. The instance name is the name of the MSDEapplication. I would like it to connect to the localhost on startup.Any ideas on how to correct this problem? Thanks,RBollinger
If we decide to make Report Manager the UI facing both internet and intranet users, but prefer that our intranet users not face the performance hit created by SSL, and prefer that SSL be turned on for internet users, what options do we have for configuting our RS environment if all users ultimately use the same reports and we wish to keep number of licenses at a minimum?
I've recently upgraded my PC from ME to XP and now have a multi-user setting in my computer. I've tried reinstalling SQL 7; it did install but the Server Manager is missing, so I couldn't start the server. (By the way, what I have is the stand-alone type). Whenever I try to start the query analyzer, I get this error message: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Whenever I try looking for the server manager in the start-up menu, it always says a .exe file (if I'm not mistaken the sqlmangr.exe) is missing or has been moved. What could be the problem? I'm just beginning to learn SQL so if anybody can help me, please.
I'm trying to connect to DB2 database across a vpn. When I test locally there's a connection manager: "Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for DB2" option that I assume will work. I actually need to do this on a remote computer that is able to authenticate with AD to connect to a couple other DBs, and on that install there're no DB2 connections to be found.
Any ideas on why the list of available connections on that install would be different? Do I have to put the drivers in the classpath then to get SSIS to pick them up?
I installed SQL Server MSDE 2000 but I can't find how to start it. Does this package include an Enterprise Manager or not? I thought that maybe it was a standard XP Pro feature. I had no problem finding it in W2000 Pro.
Has anyone encountered this error: When you are in Enterprise manager and you select a database then the tables tab and then you select a table and go to open table- select all rows, I get an error--An unexpected error happened during this operation-Query Designer encountered a query error! Please let me know if you have seen this. Also, when I access this from one networked computer I get the same error, then when I access it from another I do not!! The servers are interacting with Pivotal. The one that works does not!!
Hi all, I have SQL 7.0 desktop addition installed on my local win NT workstation. I am able to connect to my local server using Quary Analyser but when i am trying to connect using EM, i am not able to connect. I am receiveing the following error message. __________________________________________________ ___________________________ A conncetion could not be established to "servername" - Specified SQL Server not found. ConnectionOpen(CreateFile()). Please verify SQL server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties(by right clicking "servername" node) and try again. __________________________________________________ ___________________________ I have tried as said in the error message and also tried connecting with "sa" but its not working. I can see that the server is running and i am able to connect through QA.
I am fairly new sql dba in a company and I am sure Enterprise Manager is installed on PC's and it shouldn't. Is there a way of finding out other then visiting each workstation. Thanks in advance..
I am considering upsizing my Access 2000 DB to a SQL 7 server. I was told that having SQL 7 Enterprise Manager is highly prefferd but not essential as I can maintain the upsized DB with Access 2000. The only way that I have been able to find JUST enterprise manager seems to be with purchasing the whole SQL 7 program for $1300! Microsoft cannot be that cruel, that you have to buy the whole program just for Enterprise Manager!
My questions are:
Can I download just MS SQL 7 Enterprise Manager anywhere for a reasonable fee or free?
and
if not, can I continue to use Access 2000 to maintain the SQL 7 upsized DB?
I have access to a SQL 7 server via my ISP Hosting account. I know Enterprise manager comes with the server software, but how can I get a copy of JUST Enterprise Manager?
Is it possible to administer both 6.5 and 7.0 databases from the same SQL Enterprise Manager? I have read that you cannot do this because the 7.0 "plug-in" to the MMC wont work with 6.5 databases.
We had database corruption and cannot access the Enterprise Manager. DBCC returned errors 9000 to 9999 which I can't get any suggestions on how to handle from BOL. Any ideas!!!!! Thanks.
Hi, I would like to know if we can present users to access details database information about the databases on a server through Enterprise Manager. If you create a SQL login and do NOT give it access to any database, if someone logons on your server with enterprise manager, even though he does not have access to any database, he will still see the list of all database on your servers plus tons of sensitive information like database owner. Is is possible to limit enterprise manager to only view information about database that the user has access to?
How can I force users of Ent Manager 6.5 to enter a name/password when connecting to a server that has been registered? I dont want to use the sa name and password so that anyone could use my workstation to access our servers.
Does anyone know how to turn off or disable the auto discovery for Enterprise Manager. Apparently our Network group is complaining that Enterprise Manager is generating noise on the network, it is not signifcant in volume but they complain it impacts there ability to detect hacking attempts on our network because it causes some false positives. I generally keep Enterprise Manager running because I will always have some manual job running from it and we have so many servers it takes awhile for them to all load when I first fire it up.
