Modify Component Property

i need some help modifying a custom control flow task...

I am currently working on an export solution, and since some of the consumers of the export files can not handle unicode, i need to change the Codepage of the output based on config file parameters.

I downloaded a custom dataflow component published by MS (please find the link below - 1). It works fine for changing codepages, but it cannot be configured via expressions.
So i decided to modify the component the way MS describes it (link below again - 2):
Thus, added one row to the method "ProvideComponentProperties()":

customProperty.ExpressionType = DTSCustomPropertyExpressionType.CPET_NOTIFY;

But this changes nothing, i am still not able to use an expression for setting this property. I could need some help on this...
