How do I go about bringing a report down from the report server to modify it? What kind of security access will I need? The report is in production and it was created by someone who recently left the company.

Folks, i have rebuilt my old server machine and i've restored the MSDB over the new machine. Now when i try to edit or delete any of the jobs that come from the RESTORE; i get the following error message:
I never setup multiserver administration.
However i can create and delete new jobs.
How do i remove these older jobs.

I have a stored procedure I created in SQL Server 2000 enterprise manager which I would like to modify in SQL Server 2005 Express Management Studio. When I right click on the stored proc and select "Modify", the code opens - however any attempt to save creates a local .SQL file. How can I save these changes to the stored procedure on the server?

I have a report that is embedded in a .net 2.0 web form. It works. I would like to be able to modify some of the elements in the report as the web form loads. I have tried the following code that did NOT work:

I would like to be able to modify the basic report template offered by Report Builder , so as to be able to include custom fields that I would like to be present in every report (Company name , Logo , Date , etc) to achieve consistency in the presentation of the reports created with Report Builder
In Bob's Blog he explained how to include RDL expressions in Report Builder

I have a report which queries events occurring during the reporting time frame the user selects.
A user selects arrivalDateStart as 8/1/2015 and arrivalDateEnd as 12/31/2015 and the results are returned.
The issue is that there is an event that began 7/31/2015 and ends 8/2/2015. This does not appear on the report. The user does not want to have to pick an earlier arrival date as the parameter of his report to pick up anything that was already in progress prior to the beginning of the month.
I am trying to figure out how to add an expression that will also return events that are in progress over the arrival date chosen for the report.

I'm totally new to SSRS2005 and I was wondering if I could extend the existing report items. For instance, I'd like to add a few extra properties to the textbox report item. I tried wrting a custom Textbox control that inherits from System.Windows.Forms.Textbox. When I imported the dll in VS, the new textbox showed up in the toolbox, but it was grayed out.
Any idea what I'm missing here?

I have an existing (working) SP that when I try to drop into the reoirt wizard gives me errors. The procedure runs in SQL management Studio, works in an existing rdl, even returns data in the repor wizard but also returns errors and therefore I can't continue. My work around is to drop it into an existing rdl; then I lose the Report Wizard features of generating a slick, quick repport.

We have a report that has been working fine for almost a year and just recently we found a bug that when we print, the 1st 3 pages each have a single line from the table header and then the details of the table print.
The report table does have 2 subreports in detail rows. We have diligently checked to make sure that the sizes fit in both the main report and the subreports and we know that the report version did not change.
After a little digging we discovered that we recently patched RS to be version 9.2.3042. When we run the report on another RS server that is running 9.00.1406.00, it works fine. Do you know if this could be the cause? If so, is there another patch that addresses the issue?

This seems simple but can't find. Say in my report I have 3 fields(A,B and C).
In field C I want to give a calcultion based on fields A and B. Say field C value = A+B
How do you do this? In expressions I couldn't see existing report fields, it only shows dataset columns.

I have one report with 3 graphs on it. Now I want to add another report to the existing report. So basically I have seperate reports and I want to add all together that way when I do the preview it will show may be 3 of 1 page, 3 of 2 and 3 of 3 pages. We are using SSRS 2012. Before we were with 2005. Both the versions have the problem. When a change made to parameters (like adding additional parameter to existing report or changing default value of parameter) using visual studio on developers machine and re-deploy to server, additional parameter or changes to parameter is not showing up. So, we are first deleting the report from server and then re-deploying. This works fine. But we realized that we are losing history of the report (like data related to this report run from execution log). We need the history of report. It is very important to top management to see the details.When I searched in forums, users say that it still exist in 2012 and 2014 and every one talks about deleting and re-deploying report. I would like to know if there is any other alternate route to redeploy additional parameter and not lose history.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI went to look at the connection string previously entered for a dataset created in a new report, and am not seeing anything intuitive for bringing up the associated datasource dialog box that was used to enter name, type and connection string. I'm also noticing nothing intuitive for deleting an existing dataset. How do you do these two very simple things in an existing project? I dont see the dataset in solution explorer, I see it only in the text box on the data tab and in a limited kind of way on the dataset view where the columns show and maint is allowed mostly on the columns only. I tried hilighting the dataset here and hitting the delete key to no avail.

If database exists already and has any open connections this command will fail.
I would like to close all existing connections to specific database before running RESTORE DATABASE ... REPLACE command.
I can do closing from Management Studio using checkbox "Close Existing Connection" when deleting database. Actually I need to do the same but from script.
Please advice me how to do it.

I need to modify this code to add an additional check. I have added a file that allows specific users to be granted access to files. It is called AnswerFileUser and contains AnswerFileID (the file) and UserID (the user that has been given access). I need the query to return as part of the results those files where a user has been given access regardless of their group or group access. I hope this all makes sense. Thanks for your help!

How do I modify this so that just the category name is returned and not the parent cetegory. In other words, everything shows up just once. Arts and Entertainment, once, then on the next line Dance, then Music then the next parent category which is automotive.

I have a problem with a publication which is a transactional replication on SQL Server 7.0 .
I want to add stored procedure to the existing publication along with the tables . But the Enterprise manager does not allow to select or check the box
against the required stored procedure although it displays when i right click on the publication and select proeprties .
Can i have some help in this regard ? Does anybody knows to add a stored procedure by means of a query .
Is there any other way to modify publication in SQL Server 7.0 although it is possible in SQL Server 2000 .?
