I am working with a Detailsview. I am displaying information from a number of different tables, and so when I configure the datasource I have to specify a custom sql statement. I can get it to display the right columns, but I cannot seem to be able to use a where statement.
I am wanting to display the info in the Detailsview based on what is entered into a textbox, but I get an error when I try to add in the where statement. Can someone tell me what I am missing here?

I have a page (a search page) with sqldatasource, gridview and set of textboxes. The sqldatasource is using stored procedure with parameters. Using the visual wizard i'm associating the parameters with apropriate textboxes controls. It all works, like a charm.
The problem arises when I input some dangerous code in any textbox , like ' or % .
I'm having exception about unenclosed strings, generally info about the possibility of sql injection.
I thought that using ControlParameters, any Parameter in fact is sqlinjection safe, but apparently it isn't.
Does anyone know the right way of achieving my goal? It's very urgent.

I want to make a web application so our leads can go on the web and request to be put on the do not call list. problem is, if their number already exists, it gets a violation of primary key... Normal handling for this would be to do a select query based on user input, and if it exists in the database, tell them that, else do the insert query... Problem is, i cant seem to figure out how to bind the result of the select query to a textbox or label so i can compare the results to do that logic. Any ideas? This is in asp .net 2.0. Thanks! -Dan

I am attempting to set the value of the 3 parameters in the Selecting event of the datasource control but I'm not getting any data back. If I set the values literally then I get data back. Also when I step through the code I can see the 3 parameters getting their values from the textboxes and the drop down list as they should. Hi, it is few days I posted here my question, but received no answer. Maybe the problem is just my problem, maybe I put my question some strange way. OK, I try to put it again, more simply. I have few textboxes, their values I need to transport to database. I set SqlDataSource, parameters... and used SqlDataSource.Insert() method. I got NULL values in the database's record. So I tried find problem by using Microsoft's sample code from address http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.sqldatasource.insert.aspx. After some changes I tried that code and everything went well, data were put into database. Next step was to separate code beside and structure of page to two separate files followed by new test. Good again, data were delivered to database. Next step: to use MasterPage, very simple, just with one ContentPlaceHolder. After this step the program stoped to deliver data to database and delivers only NULLs to new record. It is exactly the same problem which I have found in my application. I compared html code of two generated pages - with maserPage and without. I am working on a report, in this report a textbox is present, which is expected to show string. This string length is larger than what textbox can accommodate in single line. I want this textbox to show only right part of the string in case it can accommodate full string.
After using the right alignment I assumed it would do show, however it does not work like that. It always shows the left part of string in case, string is bigger than width of textbox.
Restriction from design:
1. Cannot increase the width of textbox.
2. Cannot use the Can Grow = true to show string in multiple lines.
Below is the example of my issue:
Say there is a string: "Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services".
because the textbox width is not sufficient to see full string, I want to "Reporting Service". Which is of same size which column can accommodate. So I used Right alignment in textbox. however text box shows "Microsoft SQL Server". So, is there a solution to see required text in the textbox.

I am using SQL Server report 2008/2012 (SSRS) and my report viewer contains body content with 3 Row groups.
While printing the report, data print with blank space and move to continue data to next page.
Departure flight : 70 rows
First Page : 42 rows printed
Second Page : 23 rows printed [ Supposed to be print 28 , if the total count of records more than 23 and less than 42 then the page print only 23 records ]
Third Page : 5 rows printed
Departure flight : 42 rows
First Page : 42 rows printed [Report max. record allowed to print 42 rows so if total record is 42 then print perfectly ]
Departure flight : 26 rows
First Page : 23 rows printed [Supposed to be print 26, if the total count of records more than 23 and less than 42 then the page print only 23 records ]

The ERP manufacturer used an image data type to store large text data fields. I am trying to move these data types from one database to another database using either Sql Queries or MS Access. I can cast them as an 8000 char varchar to read them directly but have no luck importing into these image data fields.
Access and Crystal are not able to read these fields directly.
Any suggestions? Most information about these fields has to do with loading files but I am just moving data.

I was wondering that since all controls have names in the report, is it possible to programatically access values of different textboxes, do some computation and then assign to another text box? I know how to do it using the Aggregate functions and operators, but am not sure if I can access values from textboxes within two different tables and assign the computed value to a third text box on the page (not belonging to any table or other control).

Next month client is moving servers to new location. The servers will get new ip and subnet Our user db's which are on a SAN will be moving to new SAN. My plan is the following, please correct any mistakes.
1. Do full backups of everything
2. Detach user db's
3. Copy these files to usb box (100 gig worth)
4. After server is in new world bring it up
5. Copy db files from usb
6. Attach db files

I'm a C# developer, not a DBA, but fairly familiar with sql server 2000 and learning 2005. I have a need to update a table on one sql server from another remote sql 2005 server. Both will be SQL 2005, but will not be on the same network, so there will be firewall issues to contend with. Security is not a huge concern as the data is public info and not personal secure information or anything like that. What I'll have is a table of data in one sql database. I will have a copy of that data on another sql server that is used at an ISP and drives a web site. I need the table at the ISP sql server to get updated from the SQL server that is onsite in our office on our private network. I would like to not have to get network admins to open sql server ports if possible, so I guess I'm wondering if there is an easy way with SQL 2005 to update data from one sql server to another in the environment that I have described that maybe could expose the data over a common port (ie port 80). I don't want to have to use integrated security as I'm not sure this would work between remote databases in this scenario. I don't know if the web service end point support in sql 2005 would allow this. The examples I have seen online show a sql endpoint created and then accessed from a .NET application. I can do that if I have to, but I would rather do all of this inside the database in some fashion. I am open to any idea that would work and if I need to, I can ditch the idea of using something over port 80 and can get the necessary ports open between the sql servers. This is a pretty simple scenario that we have with one table of data needing to be updated weekly on a web based sql server from a remote sql server.
Any ideas on how you would approach this would be greatly appreciated. Security for the data I'm accessing is not a huge concern as the data is public domain as I've said, but I need to make sure the rest of the server and database on both ends are secured.
