I cannot get the OLEDB destination configured correctly. I can set the destination up with a SELECT sql query, and preview the resultset.

I have a simple SSIS package that I want to move data from SQL 2005 to DB2/AS400. In order to use OLEDDB destination, I installed HIS2004 that provides DB2OLEDB support.
For simplicity and testing purpose, I created a connection pointing to a SQL table that contains only one ccolumn "last_name" of type "nvarchar(50)". This is my source, I then created another connection using DB2OLEDB pointing to a table on DB2 that contains only one field "name" of type "GRAPHIC(50)". This is my destination and the connection works fine to DB2 database. When I run the package, it has type conversion error as follows:
[OLE DB Destination [34]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x00040EDA. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft DB2 OLE DB Provider" Hresult: 0x80040E07 Description: "Data or literal value could not be converted to the type of the column in the data source, and the provider was unable to determine which columns could not be converted. Data overflow or sign mismatch was not the cause.".
If I manually assign a vaule to the "last_name" using the "Derived Column" task like "Hello John", it just works fine.
Anyone knows what went wrong? Did I miss anything here? Thanks.
As a FYI: DTS works great in moving data from SQL 2000/2005 to DB2.

Data Conversion Inserting To DB2 On AS400 With SSIS
Apr 30, 2007I created a SSIS package moving data from a SQL 2005 table to an existing DB2 table on AS400 using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2.
When the package was run, it showed that rows were successfully inserted to DB2. However, the data didn't seem to be converted correctly. Most of the string values were inserted as unusual characters. Also any string values of digits were not inserted.
For example, 1.) a character field (char(1) or nchar(1) as I have tried both types) in SQL 2005 table with a simple value of 'H' was inserted into the DB2 table field of type "A" (alphanumeric) of length 1 as 'ç' and others letters were inserted as other unusual characters. 2.) A string value of '00100' in SQL Server is not inserted to DB2 table at all.
Later we found that the fields inserted with usual characters are difined as CSSID =65535. A few fields with correct data inserted have CSSID=00037.
Does anyone know why this happened and how to solve this to get the data inserted correctly in the DB2 table?

SSIS Job To Wait And Run After AS400 Job

We have a few SSIS jobs that we are currently manually kicking off after we are sure that certain AS400 jobs have run. We want to completely automate this process, so that we don't have to babysit. What is the most efficient way to do this? In the past (on SQL Server 7 no less) I've seen the 400 job setting a flag to 'Y' in a 400 file, FTPing it down to a flat file, and then the SQL job running every five minutes checking the flag. When it was 'Y', the SQL job would run. We do not have the option of using FTP here. Any suggestions would be appreciated! After the job runs, we'd like it to kick off a report as well
SSIS Connection To IBM DB2 On ISeries AS400
Sep 19, 2006We are having trouble connecting to an IBM DB2 on iSeries data source in SSIS. In SQL2000 DTS we had no trouble connecting to this data source using an ODBC DSN. We have tried using the OLE DB providers for iSeries that comes with SQL2005. We are able to connect, but are unable to retrieve column information to use in mapping to a SQL2005 data destination. Has anyone successfully made this type of connection and data flow in SSIS? If so, please tell us how you did it. Thanks in advance!

I have an SSIS package that downloads some data from an AS400 and places the data into a SQL 2005 table.
I use Client Access ODBC connection as my Source.
When I run the package from Business Intelligence - Visual Studio, it works fine.
However when I schedule the SSIS package as a job, it falls over with the following error:

Sql Server 2005 SSIS And AS400 Connectivity

I am trying to connect to an AS400 to download data to a 64bit sql server 2005 server. I am able to do this easily by migrating existing sql2000 DTS packages but how do i do this is in an SSIS project creating the process from scratch? and how do i incorporate activex transforms like you could in DTS2000 into the trasnform with copy columns?
Please help i am slowly turning grey trying to get this to work.

How To View AS400 Library Files From OLEDB Source (SSIS)

I'm trying to get data from AS400. using OLEDB source as my connection. i'm using IBM OLEDB provider for iSeries. and working on standard edition of SQL Server 2005.
While using OLEDB source task when i set my access mode to 'table or view' and try to see list of available libraryname.tablenames, i do not get and tables
where as when i use Data access mode as 'SQL Command' i can get data (can only see preview of data) from AS400 but not able to insert that into my destination table. At run time task Fails with the error mentioned below.
I have configured Data links tab inside the OLEDB connection manager also, but when tried to set a default library it gives me error. : "Error code :CWBZZ5042" - ( catalog is invalid ) but it does exist.
Is there some settings that needs to be done from AS400 side or SQL Server side to view the available libray and its tables ?
Can some one help me on the same.

Integration Services :: Using SSIS To Call A Stored Procedure On AS400 Iseries DB2?
Jun 4, 2015I have developed an SSIS Package which uses an ODBC connection to an AS400 iseries stored procedure. I use an Execute SQL Task. The query is Call Doctrack.PubFeed(?,?,?,?). The procedure takes 2 input parameters and 2 output parameters (3rd and 4th parameters) The data types of the output parameters are an integer and varchar.  As part of the procedure data is inserted into a table on the iseries.Â
When I run the package using breakpoints to view the values of the variables I see that the stored procedure returns values for the output parameters and the execute SQL task is a success and proceeds to the next task in the package. The whole package ends successfully.However, when the table on the iseries is checked nothing has been inserted into it. To test further, I manually run the procedure on the iseries using the same parameters. The run is successful. And when the table is checked, there are in fact new rows inserted.
What can possibly be the issue since I am not getting any errors when I run the package? Oh I should add that prior to the execute Sql Task, there is a data flow task which moves data from a SQL Server database to a table on the iseries (successfully) using the same ODBC connection. The execute sql tasks uses that information for the Stored procedure.

Transferring Data From AS400 - Please Help!
Nov 3, 2005I am attempting to transfer a table from an AS400 to SQL Server 2005 through SSIS. I am using the IBM DB2 UDB ISeries IBMDASQL OLEDB Provider as the source connector. I have tried to set up the source connector using the Table or View option but it says that No Tables Could Be Loaded. I can specify an SQL command and it shows the columns and appears to set up correctly except for showing a warning indicating that it cannot retrieve the column code page information from the OLEDB provider. When I run the job, it fails with the following error:

I am working at insurance company that using AS400 as it main server. All transaction data is already kept for about 10 years (or even more..). This data is growing larger from time to time, and after several upgrades (that cost a lot!), my supervisor has an idea to partly move the data from AS400 to SQL Server. (since the cost for upgrading sql server is cheaper than AS400).
So.. let say, we only want to kept data in AS400 from 4 years before until now (2004 – 2007), and the rest of data is kept in SQL Server.
So first, all transaction data from 1997 – 2003 is transferred to SQL and deleted in AS400.
If user queried data and didn’t found the data in AS400, it will search the SQL, if data is found in SQL, then data is transferred back to AS400 and deleted in SQL.
I’m using SQL Server 2000 DTS (use HiT OLEDB) to transfer the data from AS400 to SQL and vice versa.
I wanna ask if anyone has done this before? What’s the difficulties by using this approach? (btw, I will implement the DTS using user control in vb.net)
Or anyone has a better solution to overcome this problem?

Nov 14, 2007I am creating a migration tool that retrieves data from an AS400 and an SQL 7 server to create a new database in SQL 2005. I have managed to create a linked server in SQL 2005 to the AS400. I don't know if it works or not. I've been trying to create a linked server to the SQL 7 server with no luck. The AS400 and SQL servers are on the same network. The SQL 2005 server is hosted somewhere else. I have access to everything. The SQL 2005 server is running Workstation. I tried to use Integration Services but finally discovered it was unavailable to Workstation.
I could use some good ideas or help.
AS400 Data Pull Fails As Job
Aug 4, 2007When I execute the package in Debug mode, it works.
I then import the package into SQL Server 2005 and it is showing under Stored Packages --> MSDB - AS400Package
I can right click and Run Package from there and it works fine.
When I set the package up to run as a job, it fails. What I have noticed is that the Sign On that I use in the package shows that there was in "invalid login" after the job fails.
I hope I have this post in the right place and hope I have left enough information behind to help. If not let know what else I need to post. I have only been using Business Intelligence Development for a couple days and SQL Server 2005 for about a week or so. All of the SQL DTS packages that I have created seem to be working fine with their jobs as well as my stored procedures.

I am trying to replicate data from DB2/AS400 to SQL Server2005 (ENT edition) currently we use 3rd party tool to replicate data from DB2 to SQL Server2000 (ENT edition) and like to get rid of this 3rd party tool. I am searching for the last 3 weeks but didn€™t get a good starting point. I have linked DB2 to SQL Server2005 and can run queries against DB2/AS400 box. Now I want to set up transactional replication from DB2 to SQL Server 2005. I have read about peer to peer topologies but I don€™t know if that€™s the route I have to take?

Move Text Data (not A File) Into An Image Data Type

The ERP manufacturer used an image data type to store large text data fields. I am trying to move these data types from one database to another database using either Sql Queries or MS Access. I can cast them as an 8000 char varchar to read them directly but have no luck importing into these image data fields.
Access and Crystal are not able to read these fields directly.
Any suggestions? Most information about these fields has to do with loading files but I am just moving data.

SQL 2012 :: SSIS FTP Task - Can't Move From Child Folder To Parent
Jan 13, 2015I have set up an FTP connection that tests successfully. I can log on to the FTP site with the same credentials and see my root folder, and within that, two more folders. In my FTP task, I want to receive files to my local machine. The problem is that the only remote path available is not at the root level, and the only thing I can see are files from one of the child folders, but not the child folder I want.
Is it possible in the remote path to change folders? The remote path just shows a "/", which I thought would be the root level, but it is somehow linked to a child folder.I've tried various combinations to get to the folder I want, /root folder/child folder, but that gives the error that the folder does not exist.
If I open the FTP Task Editor, click on File Transfer, and click the ellipses for the Remote Path, the Browse For File box opens, with a "/" in the Location section, and a list of files in the child folder that I do not want to be in. If I click the "Up Directory" button, I get the message "Already at top level directory".

1. Do full backups of everything
2. Detach user db's
3. Copy these files to usb box (100 gig worth)
4. After server is in new world bring it up
5. Copy db files from usb
6. Attach db files

I'm a C# developer, not a DBA, but fairly familiar with sql server 2000 and learning 2005. I have a need to update a table on one sql server from another remote sql 2005 server. Both will be SQL 2005, but will not be on the same network, so there will be firewall issues to contend with. Security is not a huge concern as the data is public info and not personal secure information or anything like that. What I'll have is a table of data in one sql database. I will have a copy of that data on another sql server that is used at an ISP and drives a web site. I need the table at the ISP sql server to get updated from the SQL server that is onsite in our office on our private network. I would like to not have to get network admins to open sql server ports if possible, so I guess I'm wondering if there is an easy way with SQL 2005 to update data from one sql server to another in the environment that I have described that maybe could expose the data over a common port (ie port 80). I don't want to have to use integrated security as I'm not sure this would work between remote databases in this scenario. I don't know if the web service end point support in sql 2005 would allow this. The examples I have seen online show a sql endpoint created and then accessed from a .NET application. I can do that if I have to, but I would rather do all of this inside the database in some fashion. I am open to any idea that would work and if I need to, I can ditch the idea of using something over port 80 and can get the necessary ports open between the sql servers. This is a pretty simple scenario that we have with one table of data needing to be updated weekly on a web based sql server from a remote sql server.
Any ideas on how you would approach this would be greatly appreciated. Security for the data I'm accessing is not a huge concern as the data is public domain as I've said, but I need to make sure the rest of the server and database on both ends are secured.
