HI, Recently i copied data from one server to another server. Later i checked the data too. It was fine. I checked no of tables, views ,sps, users , roles and also permissions and no of records in each table. Every thing looked fine, but my users are saying data got meshed up. I dont know why they are complainting like that? Can anyone tell me why it is happening. Did i made any mistake while copying data. i copied data using bcp. Before that i copied structure without data using DTS. pls tell me. thank u.

I am facing a big problem in data transfer from Access To SQL. Well the problem is i want to transfer nr about 50 lacs record from access to sql. at my side where sql server is complete install i could not find any problem and it transfer all data in 5 to 7 mins. now problem is at client side we not install entire sql but we install sql runtime which is available with installshied. and whenever i start to transfer data there is another exe called DLLHost.exe is run and it ate near about 70% to 75% Memory of system. well i use sql OPENROWSET statement and as soon as that statement fire at machine where entire sql is not install and only runtime install it starts to eat system memory so instead of transfer all data in 5 to 10 min it take more then 6 hrs bcaz dllhost.exe eat memory. is there any better way to transfer this records more fast pls let me know.

May I know how do I achieve my task no 2???? I believe I need to write some script (procedure) in order to achieve this.
Hello. I want to ask about the possibility of copying both a tablestructure and it's contents from aSQL server table to a table within MS access. The problem cannot besolve with a permanent table structure at the target location. The names of the columns are essentially data with the application andso are subject to change. I am targeting a solution using SQL QueryManager. The approach I have tried (with failure) isSELECT *INTO <linkedserver table>FROM <local table>This should create and copy. However, I am not sure if this isachievable with this approach.Refer to the dialogue;-------------------------------------------------------USE MASTERGOEXEC sp_addlinkedserver@SERVER = 'Freddie',@PROVIDER = 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',@SRVPRODUCT = 'OLE DB Provider for Jet',@DATASRC = 'C: empHMIS_Recipe.mdb'-- I am not sure if this is requiredEXEC sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'Freddie', false, 'sa', 'Admin', NULLSELECT * FROM Freddie...FRED -- This is OKSELECT * INTO #Temp FROM Freddie...FRED -- This is OK-- This fails - Refer errorSELECT * INTO Freddie.FRED65from #tempServer: Msg 2760, Level 16, State 1, Line 1Specified owner name 'Freddie' either does not exist or you do not havepermission to use it.-- This also fails and I thought reflected the above select with naming- Refer errorSELECT * INTO Freddie...FRED65from #tempServer: Msg 117, Level 15, State 1, Line 2The object name 'Freddie...' contains more than the maximum number ofprefixes. The maximum is 2.EXEC sp_dropserver 'Freddie',@droplogins = 'droplogins'------------------------------------------------------------Thank you.Regards JC...
We have a production Access database and SQL Server database. When I created a DTS package to import data from Access and run manually, it works fine. But when I schedule, it doesn't work, saying some one already opened the file or no permission error.
WE CAN'T get permissions for the Access file to the account that is assigned to SQL Server agent. It's internal policy of the company, because that account is used on all the sql servers to run the agent. Is there a work-around to import data from access. We do have a service account which has access to the Acess db.
I have designed a database on a Windows NT machine and wanted to copy it to my Windows 98 PC... However a simple transfer of MDF and LDF files doesn't accompliesh this task. It would be nice if someone can help me figure out a way of transferning a whole databse without a network connection.

Is it possible/advisable when transfering very large amounts of data from server to server to: trasnfer the data to a new table first second alter new table adding indexes, defaults, ets based on original table
if it is what flow item would be used to transfer/alter the indexes and defaults?
I'm very new to ssis so the more detail you can give the better.
Hello, I am facing a huge problem in my sql server database using access as a front end.The main problem is trying to execute queries "views" ,since they reside on sql server now,and using variables or parameters in reports and forms to filter on this query. Ex. how can the following be implemented using the same query but in sql server? Access ------ SELECT MAT_Charts.YYYYMM FROM MAT_Charts WHERE ((([Area_Code] & "-" & [GROUP_CODE])=[Reports]![MAT_Chart_C1].[MAT_Key])) GROUP BY MAT_Charts.YYYYMM;
It is specifically this statement in which I am interested: [GROUP_CODE])=[Reports]![MAT_Chart_C1].[MAT_Key]))
i have a huge msaccess 2003 DB i want to transfer it to SQL 2005 , i found tool to imigrant oracle (and i used it) but i can't find solution to imugrant msaccess ??????
I do not know if you can see my reply after yours. Any way I try it here again.
In the DTS Export Wizard, after select the source (SQL Server)and destination (Excel), I have 2 choices:Table copy or query.
When I use query, I can place my sp there, and the export works fine exactly as you recommended. Thanks a lot.
But when I selected a table copy, I was given a "Select Source Tables" popup form, I can see all the table names there, but can not find any views in the database. I do not know why. Am I in the right place this time?
what's the easiest way to do this. i have 5 tables within the mdb filei tried the "easiest way" shown in a website but it does not work.the way i did it was on access(2007) > database tools tab > sql server buttonit gave me an error when it ask for an login IDi do not have any password/id..please helpthanks
How can i transfer a database from Access to Sql Server 2000?
Exactly : i want to transfer a .mdb into .mdf, and i want to keep the structure of .mdb, a structure which have tables, queries, macros, modules... When i start the transfer with Data Transformation Services ( DTS- Import Data ) , i can see that DTS shows me only tables and queries. At the end of transfer, in my .mdf database, on server, i have only tables, without queries, macros, modules.
My question is how can i transfer the queries and macros ( exactly how are in .mdb ) to .mdf database?
In the full recovery model, if i run a transaction that inserts 10MB of data into a table, then 10 MB of data is moved in the data file. Does this mean then that the log file will grow by exactly 10MB as well?
I understand that all transactions are logged to the log file to enable rollback and point in time recovery, but what is actually physically stored in the log file for this transactions record? Is it the text of the command from the transaction or the actual physical data from that transaction?
I ask because say if I have two drives, one with 5MB/s write speed for the log file and one with 10MB/s write speed for the data file, if I start trying to insert 10 MB of data per second into the table, am I going to be limited to 5MB/s by the log file drive, or is SQL server not going to try and log all 10 MB each second to the log file?
Does anyone know the method to transfer result data of a view or stored procedure in MS SQL 7.0 to MS Access or Excel , Manually or automatically? I did not find the right tool in SQL 7 to do so.
I notice we can transfer table from SQL 7 to MS Access / Excel through DTS. But did not find any tool/menu to transfer result of view / stored procedure.
I am new to SQL 7. Maybe this is a silly ?. Any help will be appreciated.
A question regarding SQL Server 2005 Express edition. Is it possible to export Access databases into SQL databases without using programming (e.g. using SQL and programming languages)?
I understand you can do this with DTS, but the Express edition seems not have DTS.
My vendor requires data to be sent in Excel format. Some of my tables have rows over 65,536 so I need to use Excel 2007 (Max of 1,048,576). Right now my data sits in SQL 2000. I am using MS SQL Enterprise Manager 8.0 to prepare the data. Is there some kind of add on or selection I am missing to use DTS to export from SQL to Excel 2007?Thanks in advance.
I'm trying to re-write my database to de-couple the interface (MS Access) from the SQL Backend. As a result, I'm going to write a number of Stored Procedures to replace the MS Access code. My first attempt worked on a small sample, however, trying to move this on to a real table hasn't worked (I've amended the SP and code to try and get it to work on 2 fields, rather than the full 20 plus). It works in SQL Management console (supply a Client ID, it returns all the client details), but does not return anything (recordset closed) when trying to access via VBA code. The Stored procedure is:-
USE [VMSProd] GO /****** Object: StoredProcedure [Clients].[vms_Get_Specified_Client] Script Date: 22/09/2015 16:29:59 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
I have an excel sheet that contain colummns as in a table in a sql database i want to transfer this data from the sheet to the table frombusiness logic code layer not from the enterprise manager by wizardwhat can i do?? ...please urgent
I have created a SSIS package that transfer data from a Foxpro database to an instance of SQL Server 2005 Express. I used the wizard to create the package but I load and execute the package within a custom application that I have written in C#.
The way the custom application is intended to work is that the user can have the database in any location on the computer and all he has to do is specify the location then the application programatically changes the location of the source on the package that it has loaded and then execute it. When I initially run the package the first time (using the original path), it works fine and transfers the data. However, every subsequent time I run the application and specify a different path, the database on the SQL Server side gets created as expected but the data is not transfered!
Where am I going wrong? Do I need to save the package after I modify the source then reload and run it again or do i need to change something else in the Data Flow to make this work?
I am newbie to MDS of SQL,want to know how we can transfer tables from two different SQL Databases to MDS.Suggest me the steps to proceed with any examples.
Hi, I am having 10 tables in my database. Some times users are complianing that they are not getting permission to one particular table. I checked the table and the owner is dbo only. Why it is behaving like this. the users having all permissions on the database. Pls suggest me.
I think I may be going a little bit mad. Last week I created a database on SQL Server. I then created an access database on a different windows server, and set up an ODBC connection on that windows server to my database on SQL Server. I then set up linked tables within Access to point to my tables on the SQL Server. I'm fairly sure that I opened those links at the time and managed to display and update the data from Access. However I have come to this today and when I go into the Access database and attempt to open one of the links I get a connection failed message. When I check the ODBC connection on the windows server it is fine. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I really need this to be working by tomorrow to do a demo, and I'm so convinced it worked last week I am a little bemused!
Many many thanks in advance of your wonderful and prompt replies!!! :)
We have a view looking at all the columns of a table on a SQL server 7.0 db. When we link this view to MSAccess, we are seeing the old data which was there previously in the original table! not the latest data. We recompiled the table and views and also re-linked the view to MSAccess with no help,we still see the old data only. This is happening only for one of the views not for all.Any help??? sa.
We have several people accessing the SQL server 7.0 data thru' MS Access Server has been slow on queries etc.Everything looks good, other than this one finding of MS Access being used for update/select. Is MS Access a potential problem? How to solve the problem of slow response time?
Note: MS Access is running on the client desktops retrieving data from SQL Server and joining data from MS Access to SQL Server.
What kind of permissions do you need to be able to run a job created by another user or sa if you are not the job owner and don't have any sys admin priveldges??
