Multi Level Document Map

Aug 28, 2006

Hello,

I am using SRS 2000 and was wondering if there is any way to have more than 1 level in my document map.

Here is the scenario:

I have a report that displays

Customer

Contract 1

Project 1

Project 2

Contract 2

Project 1

Project 2

etc...

I would like the document map to include a list of Customers, Contracts and Projects as some people who view the report know the contract code they are interested in, others know the project code and others know the customers.

However, when I set it up I get a list with them all jumbled together:

Report Name

Customer 1

Project 1

Customer 2

Contract 1

etc...

I would like the document map to have separate levels for each of them:

Report Name

Customer

Customer 1

Customer 2

Contract

Contract 1

Contract 2

Project

Project 1

Project 2

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Thanks,

Paul.

Can We Create Distinct Values For Document Map On A Particular Level?

Apr 16, 2007

Hi, all experts here,

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

I am having a question about document map on SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. I found one problem with the values retrived for the document level. That is, the values are not distinct, they are duplicate for the document level. Is it possible for us to get the distinct values for a particular document level? Hope my question is clear for your help.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and advices. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

Generating Multi Level Nodes In Stored Procedures

Jul 23, 2005

Hi all,What I am trying to do is generate a stored procedure that is desiredto output XML in this type of format<Parent Device><Device><Device ID>1</DeviceID><ChildRegister><ChildRegisterID>22</ChildRegisterID></ChildRegister></Device><Device><Device ID>2</DeviceID><ChildRegister><ChildRegisterID>23</ChildRegisterID></ChildRegister></Device></Parent Device>The area of concern is the child register, the XML being generateddisregards the Device the ChildRegister belongs to and always places itas elements of the last device.<Parent Device><Device><Device ID>1</DeviceID></Device><Device><Device ID>2</DeviceID><ChildRegister><ChildRegisterID>23</ChildRegisterID></ChildRegister><ChildRegister><ChildRegisterID>22</ChildRegisterID></ChildRegister></Device></Parent Device>I am trying to produce XML like the first one I described and have yetto discover a way of associating the ChildRegister with the parentDevice in XML. I am not sure if it is a limitation of SQL Server, or ifmy implementation is incorrect. If anyone could post hints orsolutions, I would greatly appreciate it.A shortened version of the stored procedure is belowCheers :)AlvinSELECT1AS TAG,NULL AS PARENT,NULL AS [Device!2!DeviceID!element],NULL AS [ChildRegister!3!RegisterID!element]FROM udetails INNER JOINDetail ON udetails.ID = Detail.IDWHERE (uDetails.JobID = @ID)UNION ALLSELECT2 AS TAG,1 AS PARENT,TempTable.DeviceIDAS [Device!2!DeviceID!element],NULL AS [ChildRegister!3!RegisterID!element][color=blue]>From #Temp as TempTable INNER JOIN[/color]device ON TempTable.DeviceID = device.DeviceIDUNION ALLSELECT3 AS TAG,2 AS PARENT,NULL AS [Device!2!DeviceID!element],RegisterID AS [ChildRegister!3!RegisterID!element]FROM #Temp t INNER JOINregister ON t.DeviceID =register.DeviceIDFOR XML EXPLICIT

Recursive Multi-Level Query Using CTE. Attn: Experts!

Mar 21, 2007

I am attempting to do the following....

I have standard tree setup. The tree can be up to 4 nodes deep. User permissions may be assigned at any level in the tree. Any

permission should cascade down the tree to the lowest child node.

For example, if a user had a role of 1 for the root node (101), the sql should return:

OrgID RoleID
101     1
102     1
103     1
etc...

My table structure is as follows....

Org

OrgID ParentID
101     Null
102     101
103     101
105     102
106     102
107     105
108     105
109     106
110     106
111     106

UserOrgRole

UserID OrgID RoleID
User1   101     1
User1   102     2
User1   103     2
User1   107     2
User2   101     1
User3   106     3
etc...

What I would like to retrive from the above table data is....

OrgID RoleID
102     2
105     2
106     2
107     2
108     2
109     2
110     2
111     2

This is so because all the nodes (except for 101 and 103) are somehow decedent from the 102 node and 102 has a roleid of 2. I am only concerned with the RoleID 2 and User1.

I have worked for two days trying to figure out how to do this. I am not a DBA or SQL expert by any means. I cannot seem to figure

out how to traverse multiple levels of the tree. I have been using the new CTE and made some progress, but I think I reached my

plateau and haven't been able to get any further.

If someone could help me, I would be forever in your debt! I am really starting to get very frustrated and I know there are some of

you experts out there that would know exactly what to do.

thanks!

Msg 4104 Level 16 The Multi-part Identifier X Could Not Be Bound.

Sep 7, 2007

this is so stupid and simple and I am annoyed over having to spend so much on this silly simple stuff.
I am sure I am just making a silly mistake.
I am trying to remove records from one table. The table holds 19000 something records.
To determine WHICh records to delete, I have another table that contains the 45 I want to delete.
So I wrote this very simple query
Delete from tbl_X
where tbl_X.FieldA = tbl_Y.FieldA;

The message I get is:
Msg 4104, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The multi-part identifier "tblY.FieldA" could not be bound.

Please tell me I am stupid!
Thanks!

SQL 2012 :: Disaster Recovery Options For Multi-Database Multi-Instance Environment

Sep 23, 2014

Disaster Recovery Options based on the following criteria.

--Currently running SQL 2012 standard edition
--We have 18000 databases (same schema across databases)- majority of databases are less than 2gb-- across 64 instances approximately
--Recovery needs to happen within 1 hour (Not sure that this is realistic
-- We are building a new data center and building dr from the ground up.

What I have looked into is:

1. Transactional Replication: Too Much Data Not viable
2. AlwaysOn Availability Groups (Need enterprise) Again too many databases and would have to upgrade all instances
3. Log Shipping is a viable option and the only one I can come up with that would work right now. Might be a management nightmare but with this many databases probably all options with be a nightmare.

More often than not, I typically don't touch DTC on clusters anymore; however on a project where the vendor states that it's required. So a couple things here.

1) Do you really need DTC per instance or one for all?
2) Should DTC be in its own resource group or within the instance's group?
2a) If in it's own resource group, how do you tie an instance to an outside resource group? tmMappingSet right?

Help With Multi Join Or Multi Tier Select.

Transactions = Table Level Or Row Level ?

Nov 29, 2006

When you utilize transactions in ADO.NET are the locks put on the entire TABLE used or at the row level?
For instance if you do a SELECT within a transaction if you only pull 5 rows out of a 1000 row table can you just make it lock the rows that have been pulled?  It seems like it locks the entire table?

Thanks

Multi-database Multi-server

Mar 27, 2007

I am new to Reporting Services and hope that what I am looking to do is within capabilities :-)

I have many identical schema databases residing on a number of data servers. These support individual clients accessing them via a web interface. What I need to be able to do is run reports across all of the databases. So the layout is:

Dataserver A

Database A1

Database A2

Database A3

Dataserver B

Database B1

Database B2

Dataserver C

Database C1

Database C2

Database C3

I would like to run a report that pulls table data from A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, C1, C2, C3

Now the actual number of servers is 7 and the number of databases is close to 1000. All servers are running SQL2005.

Is this something that Reporting Services is able to handle or do I need to look at some other solution?

Thanks,

Michael

Analysis :: Calculate Members At Certain Level In One Hierarchy As Sum Of Corresponding Members At A Certain Level

Jun 4, 2015

Problem setting is a geography dimension with multiple user defined hierarchies in SSAS 2008.

Ex.:
Hierarchy 1 (political territory): level 6 --> level 5 --> level 4 --> level 3 (state) --> level 2 --> level 1
Hierarchy 2 (sales territory): level 4 --> level 3 --> level 2 (sales region) --> level 1
...
Hierarchy 9

The relationship between state and sales region is n:1, i.e. one state belongs to exactly one sales region, and one sales region can consists of one or multiple states.  Unfortunatly I can't define this attribute relationsship in the dimension because it would lead to a diamond-shaped relationsship without a user-defined-hierarchy to back it up. So far that isn't much of a problem, user don't drill down from sales region to state. But now I want to define a calculated member that multiplies a measure from the main measure group with another measure from a weighting factor measure group at the state level and above. The granularity attribute of the geography dimension in the dimension usage tab of the weighting factor measuregroup is the state.

So far what I've got is:

CREATE MEMBER Currentcube.Measures.[weighted measure state and above] AS NULL;
SCOPE (Measures.[weighted measure state and above],
Descendants(geography.[political territory].[all member],3,SELF_AND_BEFORE),
Descendants(geography.[salesterritory].[all member],2,SELF_AND_BEFORE),
... Descendants(geography.[hierarchy 9].[all member],1,SELF_AND_BEFORE)); this = sum(existing(geography.[political territory].state.members), measures.[main measure group measure] * measures.[weighting measure group measure]);END SCOPE;

This works from a functional point of view, but is rather slow when querying any other hierarchy than the political territory hierarchy, because SSAS first goes down from the state level to the key attribute of the geography dimension, and then aggregates from there to the sales region. In other words, I want SSAS to resolve the relationsship (which state belongs to which sales region) through the dimension, and not through the fact, and apply the calculation afterwards. Like some kind of currency conversion, but only from a certain level upwards.

Document Storage

Dec 23, 2003

Hello Everyone and thanks for your help in advance. I am developing a document storage application for an intranet that will store various Word, Excel, and PDF documents. Most of the examples I see utilize SQL Server and an image field rather than the FileSystem Object to store documents. My concern with this method is that some of the documents may be several hundred pages (not exactly sure of the actual file size yet, but they must be fairly large). My question is, where does the use of SQL Server become impractical for this type of application? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

On initial display of the report, about 25 groups are visible in the document map, and you can see that there is more data below (half a row is shown) but the scroll bar does not allow scrolling all the way to the bottom of the list.

Thanks.
