I have a fairly complex report that was given to me that was hard coded for single parameters. There is a dropdown for each market (created from a query in SSRS). The users have to run for each market each week.
Is there a way to use this report as a Sub-report inside a list of a master report and then use a mult-value parameter?
I want this multi-value parameter to build the values for the list and then run the "sub-report" for each value.
This is all a generated query apart from the filter. If I change the @RegionParam back to its old constant value (which was 'Europe') then the fields appear again. I've set up the Query Parameters to cope with @RegionParam and also put a Report Parameter in the Layout page that uses it.
I'm lost as to why the fields don't appear with the parameter in there...
After I use the report builder to create a generic report, how do I actually get that report into the report designer so that I can modify it more effectivly?
The issue that I have now is that the file on the report server is not a .rdl file and if I simply save it as one and then bring it into VS to modify it the code file is a html structure rater than a XML file type.
I have been working on this for quite some time and I can not figure out what I am doing wrong. I have a report filter called ItemFilter and I have declared as a report parameter where the multi value checkbox is checked. The values from this filter are coming from the item table. SO the users drilldown on the filter when they run the report an select the Items that they would like to display info for. I had the following code before in the where
where ([CRONUS International Ltd_$Item].No_ = @itemfilter). This only worked if they selected on item from the list.
I want them to be able to select multiple Items or all. The code above did not work because there were commas separating one item from the other and I was getting an error.
I changed to
whrere
([CRONUS International Ltd_$Item].No_ IN (@itemfilter)).
Now this only returns the first item that I enter on my Itemfilter parameter.
Does anyone have any clue in regards to this ?? I am sure I am using the wrong syntax, but I do not know what to change it too.
Basically I had 2 paramater which ComputerName and MemberName.
The membername was set as Multi-Value as sets as follow: Label: Value: Exclude Domain Admins Domain Admins Exclude Local Install Local Install
And the query is:
SELECT id, ComputerName, GroupName, MemberName, ScanDate FROM GROUPMEMBERS WITH (NOLOCK) WHERE ComputerCN LIKE '%' + @ComputerName + '%' AND MemberName NOT IN (@MemberName) ORDER BY ComputerName ASC
The prompt is like this: Computer Name [ ] Excluded by [ ]
The issue is in the second prompt I have to select "something" which is I don't want to. I want the user to have this parameter as an optional.
I am trying to figure out a way to toggle the visibility of attribute data based on a parameter. Specifically, I have a report that has many columns that an end-user may not want to see, depending on what they are using the report for. I know you can toggle visibilities on individual columns easily enough, however I want the user to be able to select which fields (at the attribute level) they want visible on the report up in the parameters, via a multi-value prompt.
Which suggests that if only one of the two multivalue parameter id is selected display the same (Parameters!ServiceAttribute.Value(0)).
This works fine when i select both the attributes but throws an exception "Index was outside the bounds of the array" when i select only one of the parameters. Can anyone help me with that?
Also i want this report parameter to allow null i.e. if a user does not select anything he should still be able to view the report. In case of regular dropdowns i have added a <Null> value to the existing values and set the default to null. But in case of multi-value, it does not give an option of adding <Null>
I need to use a non-queried report parameter to filter a dataset for a report.
The dataset column I'm filtering is numeric. The dataset is not a sproc, it's a table in SQL Server that I am querying.
The Non-queried parameter values (Multi-value) are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, >=6.
Selecting the >=6 throws the error: "Error converting data type nvarchar to numeric."
Which sucks.
Because...when I go straight into my dataset I can filter my numeric column with the exact same values (=1 or =3 or >=6) and everything works fine. The error is only raised when I use the @Parameter in the dataset.
I've tried eveything, researched everywhere online and I can't find any guidance anywhere.
I'm building a report and I want to have a parameter that has multiple integer values (not text).I can get it to work just fine if I create a value for each and every numeric value, but I want the user to only see two choices in the dropdown menu (plus the "Select All" that gets automatically created when I tick the box for "Allow multiple values"). How can I make this work?
For example, for my TYPE parameter I'd like something like this: Label: Tigers Value: 2 Label: Lions Bears Oh My Value: 1,3,4,5,6
But I can't seem to set a multiple Value for an integer. And I can't seem to wrap the value with quotes and use Text as the Data Type because it says an error occured during processing (I assume because the field I'm going against is of the Integer format). My query would look something like this (the real one is a lot more complex):
SELECT v_R_System.Netbios_Name0 ,v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM_EXT.PCSystemType0 FROM v_R_System INNER JOIN v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM_EXT ON v_R_System.ResourceID = v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM_EXT.ResourceID WHERE v_GS_COMPUTER_SYSTEM_EXT.PCSystemType0 IN (@TYPE)
I've tried different Expressions, filters, options, syntax, and what-not, but I think I'm missing something basic.
New user here. I've got a report with a couple of multi-value parameters and I'm displaying the selected values on the report using = Join(Parameters!ReportingGroup.Value, ", "). This works properly.
The users now want the report to display "All" if "Select All" is chosen, rather than showing the whole list.
Can anybody help me with this? I'm thinking of using an IIF statement in my expression, but have no idea how to define the condition?
I created a custom assembly using C# to transform some binary data into text, and in this assembly I used one win32 dll developed by our customer to help me to do the tranformation. The code I used to call the win32 dll is like below: [DllImport("tdasuie.dll", EntryPoint = "AlrtLogConditionToText", ExactSpelling = false, CharSet = CharSet.Auto, SetLastError = true)] private static extern UInt32 AlrtLogConditionToText(Byte[] pbCondition, StringBuilder pszText, UInt32 dwSize);
I defined a C# method to call the above win32 method and return a string. Then in the report, I called this C# method to get the correct string.
In the report designer, the C# method in the custom assembly can return the correct string in the preview window. But after I deployed the report into the report server, the textbox will only display "#error" in the report manager web page.
I have three types of specific reports that i have to create with the input parameters (range) either
1: By date (rdl 1)
2.By Month (rdl 2)
3.By Year (rdl 3)
Is it possible ( or how do I ) to create just one report template ( one rdl) with the three sets of parameters ( hiding/invisible which ever two sets base on user selection) and the output of the report will display the desired type( either by year, month or date).
I ask this because its possible to create a drill down report from year down to date etc in report designer (vs 2005). Not sure if I can create one instead of three rdls and with the 'logic' built within that template.
I understand that Multi-Select Parameters are converted behind the scenes to an In Clause when a report is executed. The problem that I have is that my multi-select string parameter is turned into an in claused filled with nvarchar/unicode expressions like:
Where columnName in (N'Value1', N'Value2', N'Value3'...)
This nvarchar / unicode expression takes what is already a fairly slow-performing construct and just drives it into the ground. When I capture my query with Profiler (so I can see the In Clause that is being built), I can run it in Management Studio and see the execution plan. Using N'Values' instead of just 'Value1', 'Value2','Value3' causes the query performance to drop from 40 seconds to two minutes and 40 seconds. It's horrible. How can I make it stop!!!?
Is there any way to force the query-rewriting process in Reporting Services to just use plain-old, varchar text values instead of forcing each value in the list to be converted on the fly to an Nvarchar value like this? The column from which I am pulling values for the parameter and the column that I am filtering are both just plain varchar.
Hi, I dont know if theres a way to print a section of some report, for example a summary report, where I have several charts and tables, and I want to print just the first 2 charts Could this be done by mapping the document or separating it in some other way?
I tried using 'SubReports' control, but this way I need to have for example the first two charts in a different report (lets say 2charts.rdl), and then in the summary.rdl, add the control and set the link to 2charts.rdl,.... but I think this is pretty annoying considering the future modifications of the format in the 2charts.rdl...
There is a multi value parameter called  "include" in the report where "Allow Multiple Values" is checked and it has 4 Available values as shown in the attached screen shots and preview of the report is also shown .There is no data set for this parameter and the values  will get displayed on the report based on the visibility condition set in the report.Example : If first value  is selected  then 1 is passed and based on the visibility condition set in the report - the report output is displayed.None is default value and has value 4  and when the report is run with this option i.e. "None" then rest three parameter values are not applicable .
Requirement : -When the end user selects (Select All) Check box then (None) -check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user -When the end user selects check boxes either of the first three except None then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for -selection for the end user -when the end user selects a combination of first three then also None check box must be disabled or must not appear for selection for the end user -The None is set as default with a value as 4 and is applicable only when the user does not select either of the first three values and the report will run.
How do I display multiple parameter values on report page from a multi-value report parameter. For example, I have a report parameter where users can select multiple attendance codes and I want them displayed at the top of the report after it's run.
Currently, only the first value is showing on the report.
I have a requirement where i have to display some data in the form of multi column but the main report should be in a standard one.I have tried by using sub report as multi column and used that in my main report but when i preview the report  it is considering it as a normal report.Do we have any feature in SSRS to have both multi & standard report layouts in one report.
I have my stored procedure set to Territory_code IN (@Territory)
, now , how do i enter in more then one value. When i select the multi value check box, it gives me more spaces. But then doesnt recognize the values when i put in more then one. am i doing something wrong?
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.
I am extracting RS reports through a WebService: report = execService.Render("EXCEL", null, out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamIds);
Some works fine but some are generating the following SoapException:
Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. ---> Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. ---> Error during processing of €˜ReportParameterTime€™ report parameter. I set required parameters to their default values. In this specific report I have two required parameters: 1: ReportParameterTime, String 2: ReportParameter1, String
I set them to their default values (ReportParameterTime to "[Czas].[Kalendarzowy].[Rok].&[2007]" - means Time Calendar Year 2007) but I am getting the exception above. I set parameters using this code:
Where parameterValues is a List<ReportExecution2005.ParameterValue>.
When I am using Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer the report is generated without any problems. I can see one parameter to choose: "Kalendarzowy" (means adj. Calendar) and can select years, the default value is "2007".
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this error ? Does anybody know ?
Hi, I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.
I am designing a report which will be used under the subreport control of a master report, now i am using a stored procedure for the subreport which has two parameters.
In the subreports dataset parameters tab, how can i mention the master reports columns, since i do not see the master reports columns here. since it is a different report.
If i use a hardcoded select query then i can just say
select address, city, state, zipcode from customer where (customerid = @customerID)
but i am using a stored proc. how to define the parameters under datasets parameter tab.
