Multilingual Reports In Windows Sharepoint Services
Nov 14, 2006
Hi,
We are building a site with Windows sharepoint services and want to integrate reports from Reporting services. We know this can be done with the Report Explorer and Report viewer web parts. Our requirement is to make the site and also the reports (that are being displayed in the Report viewer web part) multilingual i.e. depending on the user's language preference, all the labels and texts on the report should get changed.
Is there some support within Reporting services to do this, or are there other ways (resource files, custom code etc.) through which this can be achieved.
Thanks a lot,
Simranjeev

I have installed SP2 on my report server and configured for Sharepoint access.
This is all ok.
I am able to use the webpart to create a report view but it wants the report. Is there a way to manage the report server (they way I did with reportmanager) in sharepoint. If so I have not found out how.
any ideas or links to show how I can have teh reports listed in Sharepoint?
Thanks

We have a Report Server integrated with SharePoint. A month ago we deployed a report (rdl file) in SharePoint, but the person who deployed it was no longer connected with us. So we decided to deactivate it in our Active Directory. Yesterday, our users returned issues regarding they are unable to access their report. I believe the issue was "object reference not set to an instance of an object".
So I tried to download the rdl file and redeployed it but i am getting error upon deploying to SharePoint. My workaround is to delete the rdl file in SharePoint, redeploy the shared datasource and shared datasets and the rdl file. It went and was now able to run the report in SharePoint.
Is there something relation/happened when deactivating the account in AD that users unable to access the report in SharePoint?

We are running into an issue where we are unable to run scheduled reports from SharePoint in the "Manage Shared Schedules" sections of any given site in our site collection (<site url>/_layouts/15/ReportServer/ScheduleList.aspx).  Reports are able to be generated manually, but never run when scheduled from SharePoint.We are encountering the following error in the SharePoint logs for our server. Â
 Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.InvalidReportServerDatabaseException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Library.InvalidReportServerDatabaseException:
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'Unknown'. The expected version is '162'.; Â Â Â Here is the background in our environment:
SharePoint App Server  - Server 2012 R2 running SharePoint 2013 Application server - running SSRS SharePoint Integrated configured through Central Admin.SharePoint SQL Server - Server 2012 R2 running SQL 2012 SP1 for the SharePoint farm - hosts the Reporting Services databases.I have run the script within the Central Admin > Provision Subscriptions and Alerts to give appropriate permissions the the account in use.  Also the reporting services databases were created new as part of the install, so they were not migrated from a previous version.

I have published SSRS reports to sharepoint and used the Reporting Services Report viewer to present the reports on a Page.  Everything works fine for the day, however in the morning, when I go to view the page, I get an error messageÂ
The report server cannot process the report. The data source connection information has been deleted. (rsInvalidDataSourceReference)

So I get the basics, have a script that can deploy a single report to a single server. I have other simple scripts that work as well. Now I want a script that can deploy a single report to multiple Sharepoint servers. I have about 30. I know we are probably doing this wrong, as in, we shouldn't be deploying the same report to 30 sites, as they are all all technically all on the same server however they are all independent site collections so as far as I know there is no way to deploy them to a central location and then link to them from each site.
So I tried to copy elements of my single report deploy script and duplicate the Sub Main() to Sub Main1() and Sub Main2() with multiple "ParentPath1" dims, yes I know I'm stupid. That obviously didn't work. So looking at some other scripts including my own subscription updater and I'm sure I need to do some kind of "For Each item in X" but where to start. The other lists I've seen all come from rs.Something. My list is just 30 variables in the script, how can I say for each site in this list, Publish this report?
Here's the simple script that works fine. I just don't know how to modify it to make it deploy this to multiple sites. After I figure that out, I was going to accept the challenge of deploying multiple reports to multiple sites in a single script...
Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing
Dim parentFolder As String = "Reports"
Dim filePath As String = "filepath"
Dim reportName As String = "Report file name"
Dim parentPath As String = "Sharepoint site URL"
Public Sub Main()
[Code] ....

I get the following error when I try to navigate to a report/model/data source, stored in a Sharepoint Document Library using a Sharepoint URL based on an Extranet or Intranet zone - but it works OK using the url for the Default zone:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The specified path refers to a SharePoint zone that is not supported. The default zone path must be used. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.SecurityZoneNotSupportedException: The specified path refers to a SharePoint zone that is not supported. The default zone path must be used.
Is this a limitation of the SQLRS-WSS3 integration or is there a workaround?
Many thanks to anyone who can help!

Hello,
Sorry for the newbie question...
Is there a way to "serve" up reports in a SharePoint-like way without using SharePoint?
I am part of a team of ASP.NET developers that are writing our own pages, but I haven't been able to find information about Reporting Services 2005 in ASP.NET and/or using Web Parts on our own pages.
Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I'm setting the Hidden property to True and then creating the report using the CreateReport method from the ReportingService2006 class. When I check the reportserver database Hidden is set to true. But when I call the GetProperties method it shows Hidden as being false. And in the document library the reports are visable.
I tried calling the SetProperties method after I created the report but it still didn't work.
Here's how I create the report.
Dim props(0) As ReportServer.Property
Dim SetProp As New ReportServer.Property
SetProp.Name = "Hidden"
SetProp.Value = "True"
props(0) = SetProp
rs.CreateReport(Path.GetFileName(fileName), Folder, True, bytes, props, warnings)
Any idea?
Thanks,

Hi,
I'm working with the Dec CTP of SQL 2005 SP2 and the associated Sharepoint addin.
I've been able to get a report created in VS2005 and manually uploaded to the Document Library holding reports, and the report works when I open it (using an internal datasource, not shared).
My first problem is I can't get VS2005 to deploy datasources or reports to my doc library.
I have configured
TargetDataSourceFolder http://server/site/doclib
TargetReportFolder http://server/site/doclib
TargetServerURL http://server/
When I try to deploy my Shared Data Source, it asks me to login, and will not accept my credentials (I am farm administrator, and site collection administrator, and local administrator, and a site owner)
Secondly, for the report I manually uploaded, I can't edit it in Report Builder (from Sharepoint) because I get stuck on entering something that works into the Select Site or Server dialog box. I've tried http://server/ and http://server/site/ and http://server/site/doclib
Can I have some tips please?
Thanks
Martin

I am trying to query the SharePoint database to get a list of how many times a table name is being used in our SSRS reports.Here is my current query:
DECLARE @TEXTTOSEARCH AS VARCHAR(200)
SET @TEXTTOSEARCH = 'tablenamehere'
;WITH XMLNAMESPACES
(DEFAULT 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition',
'http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner' AS rd)
[code]...
This works for some tables since the names are unique and I can just do a search for that. However, some of the table names are simple and can also be used as aliases.if there was some way to get the list of table names easier.

Hi
Having finally managed to get over the hump of getting Sharepoint integrated mode working in a farm install, I am having a problem deploying reports from Visual Studio to Sharepoint.
I have set the deploy properties as follows:
TargetDataSourceFolder: http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/ReportTest/Data Sources
TargetReportFolder: http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/ReportTest/Harvest Reports
TargetServerURL: http://ppdwn-bl10:8888/
Visual Studio is updated to Service Pack 2, as is of course the report server.
The reports APPEAR to deploy - they actually appear in the document library after deployment! But the result is:
------ Build started: Project: Harvest Reports, Configuration: Debug ------
Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings
------ Deploy started: Project: Harvest Reports, Configuration: Debug ------

Through SharePoint you can upload an RDS file and then click manage data sources to hook upthe report to a proper shared data source. Does anyone know if you can do this through the SharePoint object model? We don't deploy our reports using the designer and we don't want to upload the reports using SharePoint. We want to add the reports to a document library using the object model, when we do this we need to manage the data source so that it will run.
Thanks,

Hi all - please help!
I'm running SSRS 2005 (9.00.3027.00) in Sharepoint integrated mode on a Win2003 SP1 box. This works fine for most reports, including matrix reports sourcing data from SSAS 2005.
However, I have a couple of large matrix reports (7 columns per group, 12 column groups, 150 rows, 1 row per group, data from SSAS) that run fine when I run them in VS2005, but as soon as I try and run them from within Sharepoint/Report Server I get "An unexpected error has occurred.". Sometimes this happens after 60 seconds, sometimes more (up to 3 minutes)
If I filter them down to 7 column groups they work perfectly (altbeit slowly,1-2 mins), 8 groups works sometimes, 9 never works. I've checked that the report execution timeout is set to 10 minutes.
The SSRS log shows the errors as WrapperReportRenderingException and JobCanceledException. I'm not sure whether the the rendering error causes the cancelled error or vice versa. does anyone know what I can do about this?
By the way, from looking at the CPU usage of the server, it seems as though SSRS does carry on rendering the report long after Sharepoint has given up and returned with the helpful error.
Many thanks in advance
Alex

Hello, I have a configuration where my SharePoint services are running on a web machine and the SQL server reporting services are running on a different machine.
I installed SQL SP2 and the SQL Server Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint by following all the instructions listed in €œConfiguring Reporting Services for SharePoint 3.0 Integration€? (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326356.aspx).
My issue is that when I Deploy a report from a VS Report Server project by running Visual Studio on the machine where reporting servicers is running, everything works fine.
But if I try the same thing on any other machine on the network, I get a €œThe file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators.€? message.
I€™m sure I€™m missing something on the configuration but I can€™t tell what.
Thanks a lot

I have just install SQL 2005 SP2 and trying to get Window SharePoint Services V3 integrated with SQL 2005 SP2 reporting services.
In SharePoint Central Administration, I select the Reporting Services Integration page and have setup the Report Server Web Service URL and Authentication Mode. I then goto Grant database access, specify the SQL server name, get promted for a username and password that has access SQL Reportserver and get the following error "The group name could not be found"
Does anyone have any ideas?

My site crashed, so I had to rebuild the Project Site.
I used the SharePoint products and technologies configuration wizard to disconnect from the server farm (only actually running on the single server).
I then reran SharePoint products and technologies configuration wizard to setup the site.
Configured the Project Service and attached to the existing dB's.
Previously, I used the url http://servername.domain.forest/PWA/default.aspx .
Now when I attempt the use the same URL, I get the following error:
"An unexpected error has occurred"
I have tested this one 3 servers now and I receive the exact same result. Is there a path I should apply to the servers in order to allow fully qualified server names after a reinstall of the system?

Hello SQL Server Experts, Data Analysts, and Report Writers et al:
re: Reporting Options with SQL Server
I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:
Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports,
Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting
or presentation of the end report product?
Thank you to all, and I hope this is a beneficial discussion to others.

I have a sharepoint on a windows internal database server (some version of sql express 2005). When I run the app, it says that I need SQL server reporting services 2005. I dont think that this component is bundled with "windows internal database server". Is there anyway I can download this component or otherwise make this work?
Seems a bit silly that they would make a tool requiring a component that doesnt need to be installed for sharepoint to run.

Hi,
Unlike the SQL Server 2005 SP1 download page, the SQL Server 2005 Express SP1 download page (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/) and the pages it references don't mention whether the download is english only or multilingual. Since there's no language selection possibility on these pages, I'm assuming it's multilingual. Am I right?
Thanks in advance.

Or would it be best to set the table to unicode? Or isthere a better option you think?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and also to SQL Server.
Has anybody implemented SharePoint Windows Services on top of SQL Express? I'm trying just that, but i'm encountering some problems when trying to enable Full-Text search. The configuration page for this option says that the database i'm running on does not support full-text search.
Thanks in advance,

Most developers running SharePoint in integrated mode have been experincing issues when displaying SRS reports in a web site other than the default zone.
There is a blog http://www.sharepointblogs.com/nrdev/archive/2007/06/21/ssrs-in-sharepoint-2007-site-using-forms-based-authentication-sharepoint-integrated-mode.aspx that explains that this is a bug and may be fixed when SP3 is released.
We are usi ng dual authentication for a particular site that hosts SRS reports and the default zone is windows auth and the internet zone is FBA. Since we cannot display reports using the RSViewerPage.aspx that comes with RS sharepoint addon, I decided to look for some way to display these reports in a non default zone. This method may help those experincing ths issue but the method assumes that you have one default zone or default zone [0] is the zone where reports are deployed from Visual Studio.
Here are the steps.
1. Go to your Layouts/reportseerver folder in your MOSS installation.
2. make a backup of RSViewerPage.aspx
3. Open RSViewerPage.aspx in visual studio and on the header declarations change the following line that looks like
<%@ Page language="C#" Codebehind="RSViewerPage.aspx.cs" AutoEventWireup="false" Inherits="Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.UI.RSViewerPage,Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.UI.ServerPages,Version=9.0.242.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" %>
to
<%@ Page language="C#" AutoEventWireup="false" %>
4. Add the following script line to the page
<script runat="server">
protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e)
{
SPSite site = SPContext.Current.Site;
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
String RelativeReportUrl = Request["RelativeReportUrl"];
if (site.Zone != SPUrlZone.Default)
{
foreach (SPAlternateUrl url in site.WebApplication.AlternateUrls)
{
if (url.UrlZone == SPUrlZone.Default && RelativeReportUrl != null && url == site.WebApplication.AlternateUrls[0])
{
String path = url.Uri.AbsoluteUri.Substring(0, url.Uri.AbsoluteUri.Length - 1) + RelativeReportUrl;
m_sqlRsWebPart.ReportPath = path;
}
}
}
else
{
m_sqlRsWebPart.ReportPath = site.Url + Request["RelativeReportUrl"];
}
}
//add nav
SiteMapPath map = new SiteMapPath();
map.SiteMapProvider = "SPSiteMapProvider";
map.RenderCurrentNodeAsLink = true;
m_breadCrumbs.Controls.Add(map);
}
</script>
5. This script section just points the web part in the RSviewerPage to the report file hosted in the MOSS default zone.
Thats it.
This should work in either of the MOSS zones.

Hi Fellas,
I have a problem and it is described as follows:
1. The user may browse any website on the internet that may be in any language and enter the data into my application.
2. The data entered can be in English or any other language.
3. That’s were the problem arises; the data that enters the database other than English is displayed in wrong format like small boxes.
4. The user who had previously entered the data in the database can also alter that data. So when I display the data (other than English) to him it is not in the format in which the user had entered.
So can anybody help me out how to manage multilingual data?

Hello. After I have installed Sharepoint Services 3 on the same machine as SSRS2005, I have configured both SSRS2005 and Sharepoint 3. Still I do not know if I have done this correct but a SSRS webpart is available within Sharepoint.
First question. When I deploy a report project should I still deploy to http://localhost/reportserver? This is not working but I would like to confirm that this is the correct way to do it.
Last question. Anyone who can point me to a site with good information regarding this setup? SSRS2005 SP2 and Sharepoint 3?
Kind regards

Hi
I've recently upgraded from MSDE (SBS 2003 SP1 with .NET 2.0) to SQL Express SP1.
I am trying to enable full text sarching on the Sharepoint instance but whenever I go to Sharepoint central administaton and text sarching it reports that the SQL server installed does not suport this.
I can't find any documentation on this anywhere.
Admidatley the machine is a domain controller and I know this isn't recommended but surely this shouldn't stop this from working?
All components where selected when installing SQLExpress and I recieved no errors.
Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many kind thanks

Server 2 - SQL Server 2005 with Service Pack 2 and reporting services
When I try to install the Reporting Services Add-in for Sharepoint on Server 1, I get an error - "Setup was interrupted"
Would you know how to fix it?
Thank you

If I upgrade my sharepoint Database from MSDE that comes with sharepoint, to SQL 2005 Express, will I lose my no limit on the Database size?
Normally MSDE has limit of 2GB but I guess it doesn't when installed with Sharepoint services. So if I upgrade to 2005 express, will I then get a 4 GB limit on size?
Thanks for your help
