Multiple Parameter SQL Query??? Any Suggestions

Sep 19, 2007

My end result will be a query with about six parameters total. But for right now I am trying to one by one for testing purposes. This is my first SQl project. All of my information goes into an Access DB. I am basically creating a search page with parameters for the employees to use to search for data. I need the query to work if all parameters, or combinations of parameters, or just one parameter is chosen. I started with one and got to three but now I'm stuck. My first two parameters are dates, so the data can be chosen by date range, and the second is location id. If I choose date range by itself it works, If I choose location id by itself it works, but If I choose both it doesn't work. Instead of filtering it gives me everything and I have a statement for it. Can someone please help me and tell me what am I not doing right. Here is my code;

SELECT *
FROM ASFdata
WHERE
(ASFdata.reportlocid = <cfqueryparam value="#Form.reportlocid#"> AND <cfqueryparam value="#Form.datefield#"> <> datefield AND <cfqueryparam value="#Form.datefield2#"> <> datefield) OR
(ASFdata.datefield BETWEEN <cfqueryparam value="#Form.datefield#"> AND <cfqueryparam value="#Form.datefield2#"> AND NOT <cfqueryparam value="#Form.reportlocid#"> = reportlocid ) OR
(ASFdata.datefield BETWEEN <cfqueryparam value="#Form.datefield#"> AND <cfqueryparam value="#Form.datefield2#"> AND ASFdata.reportlocid = <cfqueryparam value="#Form.reportlocid#">)

Grouping On Multiple Datasets - ANY Suggestions

Mar 22, 2007

I have a report with two datasets, DS1 and DS2, which contain the same data fields, but with different values. Like so:

DS1 = sales
salesperson sale_number amount
John Smith 1 $100
John Smith 2 $105
Mary Jane 3 $98
John Smith 4 $275
Mary Jane 5 $92

DS2 = sales with price overrides
salesperson sale_number amount
John Smith 1 $100
Mary Jane 3 $98
Mary Jane 5 $92

Now what I want to do is see how the salespeople are doing. I can use either dataset and get great results independently:

Sales Results:
Salesperson Number of Sales Total Amount
John Smith 3 $480
Mary Jane 2 $190

or

Sales results with price overrides:
Salesperson NumSales with Over Total Amount
John Smith 1 $480
Mary Jane 2 $190

Now what I really want to do is a combo table like so:
Salesperson NumSales with Over Number of Sales %Overrides
John Smith 1 3 33.3%
Mary Jane 2 2 100%

I can not figure out how to do this. If I create a table that has DS1 as its datasource, I need to access DS2 for a count. So I try this for the NumSales with Over:

= count((Fields!sale_number.Value,"DS2"))

This just repeates the total number of sales in DS2, which is 3, for each line; not separating them out by salesperson.

If I try something fancier such as:

=count((Fields!sale_number.Value,"DS2", (Fields!Salesperson.Value,"DS2") like =(Fields!Salesperson.Value))

The report won't even run.

I want to do something along those lines. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this? I've considered subqueries to use salesperson as a filter, but the datasets are so large that the reports end up taking forever to run. I've tried using iif, but it doesn't seem to like using a field from a second dataset. I even tried to use the embedded VB code box to write a function, but then I couldn't pass the full array from the secondary dataset to the function (I could pass it from DS1, but not DS2).

I know this is incredibly simple, but this noob can't figure it out. If anyone has any suggestions I would deeply appreciate it.

Thank you,

Reporting Services :: How To Filter MDX Query Using SSRS Report Parameter With Multiple Values

Oct 14, 2009

I am creating a SSRS report using a SSAS cube as it data source.  The user would like to select multiple values from a reporting parameter that is then used as a filter on the MDX statement.  I am bale to have the report work successfully when only one value is selected but not when multiple values are selected; the report uses only the first value from the reporting parameter when it contains multiple values.  How do I filter an MDX query using a SSRS report parameter with multiple values?

SQL Query Suggestions/help

Jul 20, 2005

I'm trying to count the number of records in 'game_dates' where thecolumns home_team_id or away_team_id have the same value. E.g., iwant to know the number of records for each team_id where team_id ishome_team_id or away_team_id.I'm doing this in two separate select statements now. Example:SELECT count(home_team_id),home_team_id FROM gamesWHERE league_id = 218 and ((home_score IS NOT NULL OR away_score ISNOT NULL) OR (home_score <> 0 OR away_score <> 0))GROUP BY home_team_idandSELECT count(away_team_id),away_team_id FROM gamesWHERE league_id = 218 and ((home_score IS NOT NULL OR away_score ISNOT NULL) OR (home_score <> 0 OR away_score <> 0))GROUP BY away_team_idand then combining the results. Is there anyway to combine these toqueries into one query? ...and have a single result set returned withtwo columns (count,team_id)?Thanks,Glenn

Monsterous SQL Query... Suggestions?

Jan 17, 2008

Hi All,

I work for a telco. We've got a table in a database which shows phone calls made by customers and when they made them.

I need to generate a list of customers who have made phonecalls last month and have NOT had a five days in a row without making any calls.

Can any of you help? I'm not sure how to tackle this one without getting a very bloated and inelligent solution. Basically, the only solution I can think of is generating 31 tables, one for each day and then just checking calls made on each day.

Has anyone got a better idea?

I'm using SQL Server 2000.

Thanks

Dave

Page 2 - Monsterous SQL Query... Suggestions?

Jan 18, 2008

Here you go:

The telephone numbers are just strings of the same integer,

1's: Calls made every day
2's: Calls made every day
3's: Two, non consecutive days without calls
4's: No calls made from 2nd till 6th
5's: Only one day with calls
6's: No calls made from 2nd to 6th, but many made on the 1st
7's: No calls made from 2nd till 13th

If you'd like a bigger sample set then I will create one.

Code:

Our requirements have just changed and we only need customers which were active in the last five days, a very easy query. So please don't spend too much of your time on this now, however, I am still keen to find an elegant way of solving this problem, if one exists so any input from you would be appreciated.

Thanks for you help

Please Give Me Your Suggestions On Report Query - Very Urgent

I need to disaplay number of Active Agencies on monthwise in one of my report. I have tbl_Agency table with ActiveDate and ActiveFlag. ActiveDate column contains always first Activation Date. If any chances in the agencies(update/delete) the same record will move to tbl_AgencyHistory table.

"If an agency is inactivated in September 10th, inactivated all of October, and then reactivated November 10th - the agency would be counted in September, not in October and counted in November"

ActiveDate column has always first activation date, I could not meet this requirement. This is very urgent issue, Could you please help me on this.

One Receipt Number, Query Multiple Tables Gives Multiple Data.

Sep 8, 2006

I have just taken over the job of sorting out a rather poorly designed database. It looks like it was 'upsized' from an access database to the SQL server. The SQL server is the 2000 version.

Now I am trying to generate a report of what the students in the database are owing by referencing the Receipt table and then all the available payment methods and allocations. I was wondering if there was anyway to work out data being displayed twice (Let me demonstrate)

Note1: All the tables are linked by a key of ReceiptNo. From what I can see there is a table for every payment type and allocation but no link between the two other then the receipt number.

Using the query:
SELECT T_Receipt.ReceiptNo, T_cheque.Amount AS Chq_Amount, T_credit.Amount AS Cre_Amount, StandingOrder.Amount AS Stn_Amount,
T_BankTransfer.amount AS Bnk_Amount, T_cash.TotalAmount AS Cas_Amount, T_RentPayment.AmountPayed AS Ren_Paid,
T_AdminPayment.AmountPaid AS Adm_Paid, T_InternetBilling.Total AS Int_Paid, T_Utilities.AmountPaid AS Util_Amount,
T_InvoicePayment.amountPaid AS Inv_Paid, T_OtherPayments.paymentAmount AS Oth_Paid, T_parkingBill.paymentAmount AS Prk_Paid,
T_TelephoneBills.TelephoneCredit AS Tel_Paid, T_DepositPayment.[Deposit payment] AS Dep_Amount, T_Receipt.cancelled AS Canceled,
T_Receipt.RemittanceReceiptNo AS Rec_Ref, T_Receipt.Student
FROM T_Receipt INNER JOIN
T_DepositPayment ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_DepositPayment.receiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_RentPayment ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_RentPayment.RentPaymentNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
StandingOrder ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = StandingOrder.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_TelephoneBills ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_TelephoneBills.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_parkingBill ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_parkingBill.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_OtherPayments ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_OtherPayments.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_InvoicePayment ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_InvoicePayment.receiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_cash ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_cash.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_AdminPayment ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_AdminPayment.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_BankTransfer ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_BankTransfer.receiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_Utilities ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_Utilities.receiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_credit ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_credit.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_cheque ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_cheque.ReceiptNo LEFT OUTER JOIN
T_InternetBilling ON T_Receipt.ReceiptNo = T_InternetBilling.ReceiptNo
GROUP BY T_Receipt.Student, T_Receipt.ReceiptNo, T_cheque.Amount, T_credit.Amount, StandingOrder.Amount, T_BankTransfer.amount, T_cash.TotalAmount,
T_AdminPayment.AmountPaid, T_InternetBilling.Total, T_Utilities.AmountPaid, T_InvoicePayment.amountPaid, T_OtherPayments.paymentAmount,
T_parkingBill.paymentAmount, T_TelephoneBills.TelephoneCredit, T_Receipt.cancelled, T_Receipt.RemittanceReceiptNo,
T_DepositPayment.[Deposit payment], T_RentPayment.AmountPayed, T_Receipt.Student
HAVING (T_Receipt.Student LIKE N'06%')

Which gives a result of:

RecNo.
30429
Cheque
250
Deposit
250

30429
679.98
250

This is fine but when I do analysis on this it appears as though the student has paid two deposit payments. I was wondering with out querying each table independently from an application if there was a criteria to specify that I only get one deposit result.
So as such say, give me all the payments but I only want one result from the other tables. I though about discrete but that wouldn't work here.

Parameter For Multiple Where Statements

Sep 5, 2007

I'm hoping someone out there has a creative solution for my scenario. I have the report code below. I want to create a parameter that allows the user to select which where statement to use in the report. Then I want to use the corresponding where description below ( ex: @WHEREDESC1 ) in my header which will describe (in laymen's terms) which parameter was chosen and what is being reported on.

Has anyone achieved this or have an idea how it may be done?

Multiple Parameter Options

Apr 22, 2008

I need to create a series of reports, which will have multiple parameters. I will have 2 parameters, which I need to make available for both to be used, none to be used or one or the other.

I can achive this in the 'data' area of VS2005, the parameters are listed in the 'layout' area, however I can not get the report to run with out selecting both the parameters in the 'preview' area.

I think it may be to do with the Allow Null check box but I can not get it to work! with data type string.

He is my where clause, which works: -

WHERE (NewMainintro = @Intro) AND (NewStatus = @Status)

OR
(@Intro = '') AND (@Status = '')
OR
(NewMainintro = @Intro) AND (@Status = '')
OR
(NewStatus = @Status) AND (@Intro = '')

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Parameter Setup: One Label Multiple Values --- Can This Be Done?

Mar 12, 2008

I reviewed many threads and looked through many pages in my book, I cannot find my answer.

I have a report in need of carrying multiple values per parameter label. Here is the report parameter and how it is used;

Our IS system considers A-Active, L-On Leave, P-Paid Leave to be "Active"
Our IS system considers T-Terminated, D-Deceased to be "Termed"

Instead of having to have the user click upon three options (A, L, P), I would like to group these and have the Label appear as "Active", while the two options for "Termed" (D, T), would appear as the second parameter option.

Does anyone know how I would get this correctly setup in the Report Parameters... module?

I have tried

Label|Value
Active|A,L,P
Termed|D,T

And

Label|Value
Active|(A,L,P)
Termed|(D,T)

Thank you,

Mark

Passing Multiple Selections To A Stored Proc Parameter

Jan 11, 2005

Hi,

I am currently in the process of building a stored procedure that needs the ability to be passed one, multiple or all fields selected from a list box to each of the parameters of the stored procedure. I am currently using code similar to this below to accomplish this for each parameter:

CREATE FUNCTION dbo.SplitOrderIDs
(
@OrderList varchar(500)
)
RETURNS
@ParsedList table
(
OrderID int
)
AS
BEGIN
DECLARE @OrderID varchar(10), @Pos int

SET @OrderList = LTRIM(RTRIM(@OrderList))+ ','
SET @Pos = CHARINDEX(',', @OrderList, 1)

IF REPLACE(@OrderList, ',', '') <> ''
BEGIN
WHILE @Pos > 0
BEGIN
SET @OrderID = LTRIM(RTRIM(LEFT(@OrderList, @Pos - 1)))
IF @OrderID <> ''
BEGIN
INSERT INTO @ParsedList (OrderID)
VALUES (CAST(@OrderID AS int)) --Use Appropriate conversion
END
SET @OrderList = RIGHT(@OrderList, LEN(@OrderList) - @Pos)
SET @Pos = CHARINDEX(',', @OrderList, 1)

END
END
RETURN
END
GO

I have it working fine for the single or multiple selection, the trouble is that an 'All' selection needs to be in the list box as well, but I can't seem to get it working for this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

My plan is to have the same ability as under the 'Optional' section of this page:
