Hi! We have installed MPS for Service Provisioning on domain controller. SQL 200 is also installed on this server. EventView logs per 15 second following error:
Source: Provisioning and Audit Recovery Service Category: None Event ID: 5896
"Error occurred while moving records to the audit log database. SQL server reported errors: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

I did not find the problem source and the solution. Any idea?
I have two linked server... (ServerB and ServerC) which reside on ServerA. I am able to connect to the remote database using "Select" statements without any issues.
When I run this query, It is successful:
delete [SERVERB].MyDatabase.dbo.TableName from [SERVERB].MyDatabase.dbo.TableName t1 Left join MyDatabase.dbo.TableName t2 on ( t1.ID = t2.ID and t1.EmployeeNumber = t2.EmployeeNumber and t1.AccountNumber = t2.AccountNumber) where t2.ID is null;
However, when I change [SERVERB] to [SERVERC], I receive two errors:
"Could not find server 'ELEARN-FRM-BETA' in sysservers. Execute sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sysservers."
And
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "ELEARN-FRM-BETA" returned message "Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.".
When I run profiler on ServerC, I see traffic... mainly a whole bunch of exec "sp_cursorfetch" operations, so I know the connection is valid.
I am trying to use sqlexpress (release version) with vb6. The mdf file is located in a subdirectory of the app.path. When I run the program I get the following message:
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.
What am I doing wrong? Here's the code:
Dim DbPath As String, strDbConn As String DbPath = App.Path & "dbs" & DbName strDbConn = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename= " _ & DbPath & ";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"
Set DbConn = New Connection DbConn.connectionString = strDbConn DbConn.Open
I'm trying to view a report on Report Manager (Reporting Services 2000) that displays Analysis Services (2000) data. I keep getting the following error message:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get Online Help
Cannot create a connection to data source 'CubeName'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) Get Online Help
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.
I am using Visual Studio 2003 to build the report and I can successfully view the cube and pull data but when I deploy the report and data source to Report Manager I keep getting this error message. I am not using my credentials for the data source I am using a SQL account that is a sys admin and has access to the cube I am trying to view.

Hi all, We have Windows 2003 64 sp2 Xeon, 2005 EE SP2 64 bit... Trying to do conversion from DTS sql 2000..One package use load from excel to sql..So I tried to create same thing by myself.. Hell, so many issues.. So I used wizard, package created, I changed Run64bit to False, tried to run package, once - completed in debug mode.. Now it's time to create deployment utility and deploy package..During execution of manifest file got error:
Description: "Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.".
In BIDS, open up solution and tried to rerun package again - no way,".. cannot acquire connection from connection manager blah blah blah.." Even tried to fire package without debugging, it fires 32 bid execution utility, so no question about 64 bit mode.. package failed.. I am using ATL COM library application. It is using sql data base for fetching the records. Some times, i get the following error. could you please let me know, why this happens? This is not reproduceble every time.

Here is the code to connect to database which i am using.
I have a field 'Rowguid' of type uniqueidentifier in a table. This field is the last field in the table. In this case if I update a record through the application I don't get any error. Suppose if there are additional fields after the field Rowguid I get the error "Multiple-Step operation cannot be generated Check each status value"
For your reference I have used the following statement to add the RowGuid field
Alter table <tablename> Add RowGuid uniqueidentifier ROWGUIDCOL NOT NULL Default (newid())
More then two years ago I had a form in .asp created using Frontpage. When a user input information that didn't meet the requirement in SQL (sbs 2000) an error would be display after for form was submitted. I was playing around with the Diagrams in SQL server enterprise which I believe I created relationships that might have made the reporting error's possible, but I am not sure. Does anyone who if making these relationships could made the error's show up at the browser when someone is submitting a form?
Hey all,I'm working in Visual Web Developer 2005 Express. I'm a total newb so please bare with me. I'm trying to add a step to my CreateUserWizard that I put in using the automatic site administration utility. I've added a wizard step in between the "Sign up for your new account" step and the "complete" step. The purpose of the new step is to collect additional information about the user. I've added a FormView control and used an SQLDataSource to link it to a new table in the database established by the administration utility, and set up the templates to recieve the data. The one kink in the process seems to be associating the UserID created in step one with the additional information submitted in step 2. I made a UserID column, of data type uniqueidetifier in my new table and set up a foreign key relationship with the UserID columns in the aspnet_Membership table and the aspnet_Users table. When I run it as is I get the following error after I try to insert the data entered in the second step (additional information) into my new database table:Implicit conversion from data type sql_variant to uniqueidentifier is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query I guess my question is: How do I take the UserID generated in step 1, and pass it into the new table and into the new row being created in step 2? If possible, I would like to do it without any code (haha probably not going to happen, but worth a shot) but any assistance anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. I need to add some header information to the beginning of the query:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" standalone="yes"?><!-- SQL Multi Script 1 SQL Multi Script Version:1.1.0.34--><multiScriptApplication version="2" type="multiScriptApplication"><databaseLists type="List_databaseList" version="1">
Everything I have tried ends up as a failure, usually compile issues. My goal here is to be able to automare a configuration file for multiscript so I can keep my server list up to date.
We have implemented a very small reporting database which has a main table that started off small and has now grown to around half a million rows. Initially, there were no indexes on the table apart from a clustered index, but as the data has grown, performance has dropped and so we have added a number of indexes. This has resolved the performance issues.
Before creating the indexes SQL Server had auto created a number of statistic objects (_WA_Sys_000... etc). After creating the indexes, new statistic objects where created for the new indexes. In some cases, there are duplicate statistics (auto and index) for the same columns.Should I go through and drop the duplicate auto statistics? Will having duplicates cause issues at all?
I have two similar packages that are both experiencing this issue.
I need to add a script step to generate an incrementing id for the packages.
Once I add the script step, and then save the package, next time I open the package I get a "Microsoft Visual Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close" error which kills off Visual Studio.
The error signature is: EventType: clr20r3 P1: devenv.exe P2: 8.0.50727.762 P3: 45716759 P4: microsoft.sqlserver.txscript P5: 9.0.242.0 P6: 443f5ab8 P7: 67 P8: d P9: bbp0yyyc15o2dbouwcacz2m0bodqkotn
If I move the error window to one side, delete the whole Script step, and save the Package, then I can reopen the package again without the error occurring.
Here is the actual code in my script step (in case its of any assistance...) (I have retyped it from a printout, so it may not be 100%. DOCID is supposed to increment from 1. DREF1 is a system-unique id, that takes up from where the last batch left off, and is a string prefixed by "MP")

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E21) Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.
This is the only user that is currently getting the message. Last week another user got this one day and then it stopped.
Inside VB6 code, we're sending some filters to an ASP that in turn sends a SELECT based on those parameters the SQL database and we get data back to the program.
Stepped through the code and found the error returns after this line
I have two process steps in a package and one failure step. Both process steps have On Failure workflows to the failure step. The problem I'm having is that it seems if two or more workflows go to the same failure step then neither go to the failure step, but it does go if only one process step is attached to it.
I know I can create duplicate steps for each process step, but I was hoping to be able to do it this way FMI.
We get this error when we add IP addresses to the Windows system when SQL 2005 database activity is on-going:
Database error: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.)
.NET application can be running for weeks without error, but after adding a new IP address, application gets 5-16 'transport-level errors' before correcting itself.
Error occurs on Windows XP computer in our case. SQL Server, running on Windows server 2003, doesn't seem to pick up on the newly added IP address.
I want to convert .rdl to .rdc need full steps.Actually i created .rdl report using sp sucessfully. Now i want to convert it to rdlc while doing it iam getting some authentication error and some thing else.I created rdl in 2008 and i want to change it to rdlc 2010.
I have a package that has multiple data flow tasks. At the end of a task, key data is written into a raw file (file name stored in a variable) that is used as a data source for the next task. Each task requires a success from the preceding task.
Here's the rub:
If I execute the entire package, the results of the package (number of records of certain tasks) differs significantly from when I execute each step in the package in turn (many more records e.g. 5 vs 350).
I get the feeling that the Raw file is read into memory before it is flushed by the previous task, or that the next task begins preparation tasks too early.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I am running on Server 2003 64 (although the same thing happens when deployed on a Server 2003 32 machine)
I hope the answer is as simple as the question -- but after reading all the documentation I could find (understand?) and a lot of posts here, I'm no closer to achieving the goal.
I have a Visual C# app, DAYTRACKER, developed in VS2005. It uses a database with several tables constructed using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.
I want to deploy the app plus the database plus SQL Express to another machine, to be used by a single user (the administrator) with no need for network connectivity of any kind.
What I have so far is: 1. The application is successfully deployed from a CD-ROM, having used the Publish process within VS2005, and opens on the new machine -- without database connectivity, however. 2. SQL Express is successfully deployed (it deployed as a 'prerequisite' when I went through the Publish process in VS2005) 3. I manually copied the database's .mdf and .mdl files, using SQL Server Managers 'Copy Database' function, then transferred the copies to the new machine into the ..MSSQL.1MSSQLdata folder (where they appear along with the master.mdg, mastlog.ldf etc files)
Now, the DAYTRACKER application's DAYTRACKERConnectionString under 'Settings' in the VS2005 studio reads 'Data Source=DELL3;Initial Catalog=DayTracker;Integrated Security=True' (which are the appropriate parameters for the machine, DELL3, on which I wrote the program.)
The problem, of course, is that SQL Express on the new machine doesn't connect the application to the database. When I go to the 'SQL Server Configuration Manager' and go to the 'SQL Server 2005 Services' and double-click on the 'SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)' icon (the service is running) and the user is logged on using 'Local System Account'. Under the 'Service' tab the Host Name is 'MUSIC' (which is the name of the new machine I've installed the app onto -- which of course is not the name - DELL3 - that the app's connection string is expecting). Under the 'Advanced' tab, I've tried correcting the name of the Startup Parameters default .mdf and .mdl entries to ..DayTracker.mdf and ..DayTracker_log.mdl, but the server won't start up after I make the changes.
What I'm hoping for: a step-by-step way of doing this type of deployment, preferable getting it all onto one CD-ROM, and installing it on the new machine so that it all works seamlessly from the start, not requiring any 'tweaking' of the SQLServer Express settings by the end-user.
But I'll take pretty much anything that fixes the specific db connectivity problem I've described.
Hi, I have to transport a big database table and can't read it at once with "select * from table" because the table is bigger than my system memory. Is there a way to read the table step by step? I thought it was possible with ADO and his serverside cursors but I don't now how. I need an "universal" solution that works on SQL Server 2000/2005, MySQL and Oracle.
Connecting to a networked SQL Server Box from my local machine
Open Query Analyzer from Start menu, logging in using sa account.
from the object browser i select my stored procedure (WEA_InsertClaim) - right click and select Debug.
i am prompted to enter the parameter values, which i do, auto rollback checkbox is checked - click Execute.
T-SQL Debugger opens and runs through the stored procedure.
but only buttons enabled are the "Go", "Toggle Breakpoint", "Clear All Breakpoints"
so i can set breakpoints etc. but when i select Go it will not stop at the breakpoints it just runs through the stored procedure from start to finish. giving the correct return code as its output
is there something i need to enable in order to make it stop at breakpoints??
We€™re calling ADOX::Table::Keys::Append to make a primary key for a table using the SQLOLEDB provider. We€™re passing an ADOX::Key with Name set to a custom name, Type set to ADOX::adKeyPrimary, and a single column added. For the Append call, the 2nd parameter is ADOX::adKeyPrimary, the third is a vtMissing (VT_ERROR with DISP_E_PARAMNOTFOUND), the last two are empty BSTR€™s. On XP, this works well (msadox.dll file version 2.81.1117.0). On Vista, this fails with an invalid parameter error (msadox.dll version 6.0.6000.16386). Has the interface changed in some way, is this functionality not supported, or is it broken?
