I am using stored procedure dataset. i tried filtering the dataset values with the parameter of type datetime.I am able to view and select multiple datetime value from the list. but its not filtering the values.
i changed the parameter datatype to string but it works only for the first value
(parameter. <pname>.value(0)). if i filter with the array value (parameter. <pname>.value) am getting error (Failed to evaluate Filter expression).
I guess the problem with datatype. Pls help me if anyone have idea about this.
I have a problem with report built in SSRS and deployed with Dashboard Designer to Sharepoint. There are few filters connected to report, 2 of them are multivalue. Regardless of data returned, when I select too many items in filter, the report is getting super small. It doesn't matter what you select, size changes when you select exact number of items or more. I replaced report with single line (filters where still conected) - result was the same. Small amount of items selected:
More items selected:
Size of the raport in Dashboard Designer is set to "Percentage of dashboard page", when I selected autosize, result was the same.
Hi. I am fairly new to reporting. I have a report that currently displays queried data in both a table and a matrix. I'd like for the data that is displayed to be based off of my report parameters. I have three, all of which are multivalue. Currently, I am able to display the report, based on the only the first value of TWO of the three parameters. I tried using the dataset parameters, but was not successful with linking them to my report parameters. Please help! In addition, is there a way to set multivalue parameters to only display distinct values? Thanks, in advance, for any help.
I need to set a label in my report when all the values in a certain multivalue parameter are selected. In other words, i would need to check whether this parameter has the value "Select All" selected or not. How do i accomplish this?
i am trying to build a report that uses multivalue parameters - the report is a simple listing report that lists out a list of cases as a table - the data is obtained from a view which just returns all details for all cases
there is no user input for the selection details - am going to be calling the report and passing over the parameter values directly to it.
there are several parameters for the report - they all default to "All"
for each of these parameters, i need to be able to either use the default value of "ALL" or to enter a list (comma separated ?)
q1) could i just enter the list as a string comma separated list (rather than as multivalued parameters) and then use this list to filter the data using the FILTERS tab on the dataset
q2) if q1 is not possible, if i use multivalue parameters, how do i get my list of parameters into the report as the application calling the report just has a list of values
I have a report (Say Report 1)which is asking for a multivalue parameter Period. The user selects three period from the dropdown list available for the Parameter. Lets say that the user select 0407,0507,0607. Now is this report 1 there is a particular field which is linked to another sub report. So if the top level Report 1 supplies the revenue for 3 regions say for the periods selected then clicking on any of the regions would open a second detailed report, say Report 2 for the three periods as selected.
Till this everything is fine.
Now the problem is that in this detailed Report 2 there would be a particular text box as "Click here to naviagate back to parent report". So that when the user clicks on this cell he is taken back to the parent report, Report 1 which was originally generated for the 3 periods.
Can anyone please advise as to how the Multivalue Parameter which was passed from Report 1 to Report 2 can again be looped back to Report 1 from Report 2.
I'm trying to output all the values selected through a multivalue parameter, but I am having difficulties. In the text box, the parameter contains only four member functions (value, label, count, ismultivalue). However, to output a value or label for the parameter you need to specify an index in the form of:
Parameters!Names.Value(0)
Ideally, I would like to be able to obtain all these values with a function call, but it doesn't look like there is one. Any ideas of how to get all the values?
Greetings all trying to get a multivalue parameter to accept either typed in data ex: 111111111,111111112 or if I want to return all id numbers type in %. Problem is when I test it by typing in 111111111,111111112 it throws an error saying " Incorrect syntax near ','.
I can enter 111111111 or % and get results, the error comes when I try to type in two or more id numbers. the parameter in the dataset looks like
where a.id_number LIKE (@id_number+ '%')
any suggesstions? Im sure there are threads out there but Im pressed to meet a deadline and wanted to see if there were any quick solutions
Is there any way to restrict the user from selecting the parameters. For example: I have a list of 100 values in a multi-value parameter. I want to to restrict the user to select at the most N number of values.
If possible, process only the N number of values will also do.
Hi, i am working on SSRS 2005. i have one problem while accessing report throgh ASP.net pages.
i have used multivalue parameters in the report. on the report server it works fine but on the .asp page when that report is accessed, drop down is not working,
Hi All i have created one report using SSRS 2005, in this report one parameter is multivalue parameter, this report preview working fine and user able to select multivalues. but the problem is i deployed this report in server and opened in client system (reports shown to user using report viewer in aspx pages), i am able to access the report but multivalue parameter dropdown is not working. when i clicked on multivalue parameter dropdown report refreshing and remaining parameters default vaues coming up.. i am unable to find the solution please anyone help me
I've created a line chart in my report which lists number of transactions by month. I've also created a report to list transactions by day. My goal is for the user to select a month and link the report to the graph with the selected month divided up into days (in other words, the user wants to see the number of transactions for each day in the selected month).
Anyway, everything is working perfectly except for one thing. In the list of parameters that I am passing to the report for each day, I want to pass a multivalue parameter which contains all the transaction IDs the user selected in creating the report (these are supplied by a multivalue parameter). However, in the parameter dialog box where it asks for a value to send to the awaiting parameter, I do not know how to supply more than one value. If I need to pass one value, it will work fine. However, I would like to do something like:
JOIN(Parameters!TransactionID.value, ",")
for the value of TransactionID, but when I generate the report it is not accepting the values. I'm pretty sure its just a format issue, and I just need to know how exactly I should pass these values.
I already understand that when passing multivalue parameters in a URL you need something like:
TransactionID=1&TransactionID=2
...in order to select multiple values. However, this is a slightly different situation. I'm really running out of ideas, so any help would be much appreciated.
I am using a 2005 SSAS cube as a datasource for 2005 SSRS report with multivalue parameters. I use the design mode query builder to generate my MDX. I then add my parameter to my parameter field in the filters section. The name and value of the parameter in the dataset editor is as follows:
I then proceed to layout mode and then open up report parameters. I then check the multivalue box and select non-queried available values. I choose non-queried radio button because I want my asp page to be passing in the parameters, not a dropdown list.
The problem is that when I try and preview the report and I type in just one parameter I get the following: "Query (1, 437) The restrictions imposed by the CONTRAINED flag in the STROSET function were violoated"
After looking through a couple of forums I found that adding the following Parameter value in the data tab and dataset editor would help me out a bit: "[Facility].[Facility Number].&["+Parameters!FacilityFacilityNumber.Value+"]"
Ok so now (in layout mode) I type in one parameter and I get a report back, BUT when I try to type in a second or more parameter I get the same error as before: "Query (1, 437) The restrictions imposed by the CONTRAINED flag in the STROSET function were violoated"
Here is the MDX query that I am using for this report:
SELECT NON EMPTY { [Measures].[Claim Count], [Measures].[Item Reasons Count], [Measures].[Charged Amount] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY { ([Facility].[Facility Number].[Facility Number].ALLMEMBERS * [Claim Status Codes].[CLaim Status Code].[CLaim Status Code].ALLMEMBERS * [Claim Status Codes].[Claim Status Description].[Claim Status Description].ALLMEMBERS ) } DIMENSION PROPERTIES MEMBER_CAPTION, MEMBER_UNIQUE_NAME ON ROWS FROM ( SELECT ( STRTOSET(@FacilityFacilityNumber, CONSTRAINED) ) ON COLUMNS FROM [Claims Remittance]) CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, BACK_COLOR, FORE_COLOR, FORMATTED_VALUE, FORMAT_STRING, FONT_NAME, FONT_SIZE, FONT_FLAGS
Please, if anybody know's what I am doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it.......I have to have my report accept non-queried multivalued parameters. Thanks
I am trying to test the concept of passing multi value parameters from one report using the Action Property of a textbox to open another report is a new Window with the Multi Value parameter values already passed. The test involves the following:
Report 1:
1. Multi Value Parameter @ReportParameter1 has three Values: Value1, Value2, Value3
2. Has a text box with the Action Property set to Go to URL with the following Expression: ="javascript:void(window.open('http://reportserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fReport2&rs:Command=Render&ReportParameter1=" + JOIN(Parameters!ReportParameter1.Value,"&ReportParameter1=") + "'))"
Report 2:
1. Has Two Parameters @ReportParameter1 and @ReportParameter2
2. @ReportParameter1 has Available Values as follows: Value1, Value2, Value3
Does not have any default Values.
When I click on the textbox on Report1, it does navigate to Report2 but none of the Values are being set.
We have many reports with cascading multivalue parameters. The reports and the parameters work as expected within the BI development and when deployed to the RS server. The issue we are having is that when we go to the Report Manager webpage for one of these reports and create a New Subscription the report parameters in the subscription field fail to populate. The first one or two parameters may properly populate but the 3rd, 4th, and 5th fail to populate. As a result we can not select the parameters to submit the subscription.
We have two example reports where one report uses only sql (text) and the other report uses only stored procedures. Both reports have 2 or more cascading parameters.
Any known issues with cascading multivalue parameters in the Report Manager subscription view?
Is this a known issue? When I try to filter my report using Like operator on one of the Report parameters/dataset field it returns nothing. If I use = it works? Any ideas how to use the "Like" operator in reporting?
i need to filter an article based on a user-supplied datetime filter (the datetime parameter is specified by the subscriber just before replication). at the same time i need to filter again by user (different subscribers get different rows).
i already did the user-based filter using HOST_NAME( ). but the difficulty here (al least i think so) lies in passing 2 parameters to the filter. i cannot rely on using SUSER_SNAME to pass the user filter, because no one will want to create 500 user accounts. so i guess the only solution here is to pass both parameters using only HOST_NAME( ) and then write 2 splitting functions which uses HOST_NAME( ) as its parameter. am i right ?
publisher/distributor is sql server 2005, all subscribers use sql mobile.
I have configured transactional publication where some tables have a simple row filter. And I made a supscription to this publication. When I make snapshot and replication initialization, all rows are updated correctly and passed to subscriber. But when I change some column at a row included by filter at publisher, it is never updated on the subscriber. Other tables and that same table when I remove filter is updated correctly.
What can be problem?
I am using SQL Server 2005 Standard for publisher, and SQL Express 2005 for subscriber, both with SP2.
Hello! I've begin to do a tutorial of this site: Working with Data in ASP.NET 2.0 c#, but in the 3. step I can't make something: In this step I can't add parameterized methods to the TableAdapter. The problem come up when I want to add Sql query. SELECT ProductID, ProductName, SupplierID, CategoryID, QuantityPerUnit, UnitPrice, UnitsInStock, UnitsOnOrder, ReorderLevel, DiscontinuedFROM ProductsWHERE CategoryID = @CategoryID The error message: Error in WHERE clause near '@'.Unable to parse query text. So, how can i use parameter in this method? tnx for the help Simpson
The census is from an outside group and what I do is massage it for our internal databases and reports to our care managers.
The report starts out by returning only those entries that were received in the last report from the outside vendor and I filter each of the parameters by using a WITH statement and an INNER JOIN, as follows;
WITH Date_of_Most_Recent_Census AS ( SELECT MAX(Load_Date) AS [CurDate] FROM Census_Rpt_Final )
[Code] ...
The default is for all parameters to start out with all possible values for the current load date. But, I need to be able to filter the available - and default - values for each parameter based upon the selection of the other parameters.
So, the Load Date is built in by use of the CTE that is a part of all the parameters. But, I need the report to allow the end user to select from each of the others, but limiting what is avaliable for selection based upon the settings of the other parameters.
For example, the second parameter is the Report Type. It can be either "Hospital," or "SNF." But, not all Clinics, Care Managers or PCPs may have an entry in both types. So, if the user selects, say, "Hospital," all the parameters would alter their available and default values such that they only include options where the census shows they are a "Hospital" entry.But, not all Clinics in the most recent census may have both report types. So, if the end user selects a particular clinic, it would also recalculate the available and default values for Report Type, as well as those beneath it on the list. And, likewise for the remainder of the parameters.
My initial thought was to add WHERE statements to the datasets controlling each parameter, but SSRS keeps asking me to define the parameters when I click out of the dataset's properties. Now, I know that SSRS is a single pass process - and, I'll cross the bridge on adjusting parameters defined earlier in the list when I come to it - but I thought that parameters lower in the list would update, since they'd have their values defined.For instance, the Clinic parameter is after Report Type, so the code I used to set up Clinic was;
WITH Date_of_Most_Recent_Census AS ( SELECT MAX(Load_Date) AS [CurDate] FROM Census_Rpt_Final ) SELECT DISTINCT
[code]....
But, this asks me to define @ReportType, even though it precedes Clinic on the parameter list.
I am having a problem with the RS utility not recognizing my query parameters that I am passing to my timed subscription. I have set up my report with a "WorkOrder" parameter. I have created a trigger that causes my subscription to fire, and that trigger passes in the workorder number to the utility. The subscription fires successfully, but I am getting a blank report.
I set the parameter value to "can be blank" so that I could create my subscription w/o an error. I know that my subscription id is correct when I use the fire method, because I DO get the appropriate report.
I am also having the same problem when I actually log in to the report server and execute the utility from the command line. I believe my report is good. Once the report is generated, I am able to follow my URL, plug in the workorder id, and it works.
What would cause the variable not to be passed in/recognized? This is how I am calling it from the command line:
i am inserting into a table using the sqlCommand parameters property.for example i do :sqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@date_birth_hebrew", Request("date_birth_hebrew"))the date_birth_hebrew is not a must and has allow null value in the db.when the user submits the form and leaves the textbox of date_birth_hebrewnot field out and i try to add this value to parameters as the above code i recive :Prepared statement '(@date1 datetime,@first_name nvarchar(4000),@last_na' expects parameter @date_birth_hebrew, which was not supplied. as i understand beacuse the Request("date_birth_hebrew") is empty the sqlCommand.Parameters acts as no value entered.i hae solved this problem by on each value checking thatif Parameters Request("date_birth_hebrew")="" thensqlCmd.Parameters.Add("@date_birth_hebrew", "")but isnt there any another way?thnaks in advancepeleg
I have 9 parameters which all have defaul values and 1 that does not, 4 of them show the correct default but 5 of them state <Select a Value>.
I have copied the report project to another pc and the same problem occurs.
I have tried deleting 'reports' and 'reportserver' from iis and recreating them, as well as deleting the actual report from http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx [then selecting 'show details' and deleting and redeploying the report].
I have even tried toggling the default values on/off. I am at a loss, I can only think that the report project file(s) need to be manually amended in some way. There is nothing significantly different between the parameters to justify them not defaulting
I'm passing a parameter to a stored procedure stored on my sqlserver, or trying to atleast. And then firing off the update command that contains that parameter from a button. But it's not changing my data on my server when I do so. I'm filling a dropdown list from a stored procedure and I have a little loop run another sp that grabs what the selected value should be in the dropdown list when the page loads/refreshes. All this works fine, just not sp that should update my data when I hit the submit button. It's supposed to update one of my tables to whatever the selected value is from my drop down list. But it doesn't even change anything. It just refreshes the page and goes back to the original value for my drop down list. Just to make sure that it's my update command that's failing, I've even changed the back end data manually to a different value and on page load it shows the proper selected item that I changed the data to, etc. It just won't change the data from the page when I try to.
This is what the stored procedure looks like: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[UPDATE_sp] (@SelectedID int) AS BEGIN UPDATE [Current_tbl] SET ID = @SelectedID WHERE PrimID = '1' END ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And here's my aspx page: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Editor.aspx.vb" Inherits="Editor" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Data Verification Editor</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SQLDS_Fill" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Test %>" SelectCommand="Current_sp" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure" DataSourceMode="DataSet"> </asp:SqlDataSource> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="SQLDS_Update" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:Test %>" SelectCommand="Validation_sp" SelectCommandType="StoredProcedure" DataSourceMode="DataReader" UpdateCommand="UPDATE_sp" UpdateCommandType="StoredProcedure"> <UpdateParameters> <asp:ControlParameter Name="SelectedID" ControlID="Ver_ddl" PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="Int16" /> </UpdateParameters> </asp:SqlDataSource> <table style="width:320px; background-color:menu; border-right:menu thin ridge; border-top:menu thin ridge; border-left:menu thin ridge; border-bottom:menu thin ridge; left:3px; position:absolute; top:3px;"> <tr> <td colspan="2" style="font-family:Tahoma; font-size:10pt;"> Please select one of the following:<br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"> <asp:DropDownList ID="Ver_ddl" runat="server" DataSourceID="SQLDS_Update" DataTextField="Title" DataValueField="ID" style="width: 100%; height: 24px; background: gold"> </asp:DropDownList> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width:50%;"> <asp:Button ID="Submit_btn" runat="server" Text="Submit" Font-Bold="True" Font-Size="8pt" Width="100%" /> </td> <td style="width:50%;"> <asp:Button ID="Done_btn" runat="server" Text="Done" Font-Bold="True" Font-Size="8pt" Width="100%" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2"> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="Saved_lbl" style="font-family:Tahoma; font-size:10pt;"></asp:Label> </td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And here's my code behind: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.SqlClient Partial Class Editor Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Saved_lbl.Text = "" Done_btn.Attributes.Add("OnClick", "window.location.href='Rpt.htm';return false;") Dim View1 As New DataView Dim args As New DataSourceSelectArguments View1 = SQLDS_Fill.Select(args) Dim Row As DataRow For Each Row In View1.Table.Rows Ver_ddl.SelectedValue = Row("ID") Next Row SQLDS_Fill.Dispose() End Sub Protected Sub Submit_btn_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Submit_btn.Click SQLDS_Update.Update() Saved_lbl.Text = "Thank you. When I debug my code I see the string going into the parameter correclty, but the the delete statement doesnt work and I'm not sure why. Does this look ok? // Set up SqlCommand, connection to db, sql statement, etc. SqlCommand DeleteCommand = new SqlCommand(); DeleteCommand.Connection = DBConnectionClass.myConnection; DeleteCommand.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
// Store Primary Key photoID passed here from DeleteRows_Click // in a parameter for DeleteCommand SqlParameter DeletePrimaryKeyParam = new SqlParameter(); DeletePrimaryKeyParam.ParameterName = "@PhotoID"; DeletePrimaryKeyParam.Value = photoID.ToString();
// Insert new parameter into command object DeleteCommand.Parameters.Add(DeletePrimaryKeyParam);
// Delete row, open connection, execute, close connection DeleteCommand.CommandText = "Delete From Photo_TBL where PhotoID IN (@PhotoID)"; Response.Write(DeleteCommand.CommandText); // DeleteCommand.Connection.Close(); DeleteCommand.Connection.Open(); DeleteCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); DeleteCommand.Connection.Close();
I'm looking to return certain rows from our db into an SSRS based on a user selected date range using the parameters calendar.
My query/analyzer returns all required fields/rows, but how do I pull the specific rows, (that are based on a date range that the user enters),into the report? I've tried expressions, and vb functions to no avail. The users will be using the calendar parameter to select date ranges .So far the reports pull in all rows from my query.
Hi --I was wondering if this is a bug when I add new data in my table SSIS Confiurations and give wizard a new Configuration filter the package configuration wizard can not see the new values --the old values from the previous configuration are still showing---is there any known workaround or forced refresh I can do
thanks in advance Dave

I am currently working with 3 multi-valued parameters whose data sources are queries. The first 2 are required to have entries, 100% of the time, but the third one may or may not require selecting a value. Parm3's data source is filtered by the selections of Parm1 & Parm2. The data source for my report references Parm3 in a derived table that is then LEFT OUTER JOINed.
In the cases where the report does not require any selection from Parm3 I am still required to pick at least 1 entry. Can anyone shed some light on this, or provide a solution so I am not forced to pick any if I don't want?
