My Sql Connection And Getting Data Into Variable...

Hi,
I need to connect Mysql database and get max(date) field from a table and
store it in a variable OR if I can do it in Data flow then just to check the date
with condition transform and move on...
I have installed mysql odbc. I have also made a odbc connection on conenction managers.
looks ok...
I have tried Execute Task on Workflow but didnt work , Also tried datareader source connectiong mysql
didnt work either
With Execute task I am getting ; [Execute SQL Task] Error: An error occurred while assigning a value to variable "Variable": "Value does not fall within the expected range.".
With Datareader source in data flow I am getting : Error at data flow task : Cannot acquire a managed connection from run time connection manager...
Any opinions how to get data from MYSQL?

I want my XML Data source to be an expression as i will be looping through a directory of xml files.
I don't see the expression property or the connection property??
I tried setting the XMLData property to @[User::filename], but that results in:

In SSIS in Sql task we have option to pass parameter or variable..But in Data Flow Task when we use Data Reader Source using ADO.NET connection..There is no option to pass parameter or variable Or no option to receive a parameter or variable .
I am having a query were it need to pass a parameter.in sql task ...And Data Reader Source have to receive this parameter from sql task .

I hope that I am just missing a step in the process somewhere. I have established a string variable called DatabaseServer and another called DatabaseName. In the OLE DB connectionstring expression I have the following:

My understanding is that changing the variable from SERVERA to SERVERB should repoint the connection. (Test to pre-production to production in my current promotion environment.) This should also take effect in any dataflow task using the database connection above right? When I try to repoint the server variable (and only the server variable) I am either a.)throwing errors saying the original connection cannot be found in the data flow task, or b.)the job appears to be processing fine, but the repoint did not take place and data is still flowing to the original server.
Can anyone offer suggestions as to what I am missing?
The properties values in the DB connection:
ConnectionManagerType is OLEDB
DataSourceID is blank
DelayValidation is False (Setting to true changes nothing in my test)
Expression for ConnectionString is (see above)
RetainSameConnection is False
SupportsDTCTTransactions is True (and appears to be unchangeable.)

Can I define a Global variable and use it as a Connection to SQL Server .
What I want to do is Create a DTS which pumps out files to an app server. However this might be done in different environments and I want to keep the SQL Connection Dynamic and change it in global parameter value.

I need to pass a application userid on every call to my database for triggers on the db to use.
I am connecting to my database using integrated security from my application, all on one windows domain account. However I need to get an application user id over on the connection for triggers to use to stamp in changelogs.
Currently everytime we open a connection we create a #table with the user id in it, but that is expensive, especially in our new SOA where connections are frequently created and dropped on requests.
Is there any way I can get a connection level variable over to the database server so triggers could read it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know a way to store the ConnectionString of an OLEDB connection in a variable? I want to see exactly what values are in there because the step is failing with an error at that point. Here is what I'm looking for:

I have a table which contains a column ([Connection String]) that has every connection string for the SQL instances on our estate.
I have a package which will import data from a single instance, but how do I set the connection manager so that it uses a variable and is populated by a selecting the connection strings from my central database?
Do I use a cursor to select the next connection string?

Within an SSIS Package, we are trying to change the connection string of an output file connection manager at runtime (used for package logging).
To do this, we have defined variables with package-level scope and set the connection manager connection string to this variable. The first step of the package is to set these variables. The second step begins the rest of the package operations (moving data). The package executes successfully, but the log file is never created/appended to.
When the package is debugged, I can verify that the variables are being set correctly in the script task and that the variable values are being passed to the connection manager data sources.
Any ideas why this isn€™t working?

How to use variables in Connection Manager's properties? I see some replies through Configuration Package. But what if, it is still in development stage? I mean, can I use the Variable tab and create some variables like
User::DBUserNameSource, User::DBPasswordSource,
User::DBuserNameDestination, User::DBPasswordDestination,
Then put them in Password and UserName property of Connection Manager? If this is possible, how and how can I set the values of those variables I mentioned when I am going to deploy the package in the Production?

I'm doing a simple ETL that reads a database table and dumps the content to a text file. The text file will be named Employee.txt. This file name will remain the same across my environments, but I may want to vary the directory location to where I want this file dumped.
So, I defined an environment variable called "DataTargetDir" in all my environments. Now, I want to utilize this variable in the "File name:" box within the Flat File Connection Manager Editor. How do I do this? I'm thinking I can write something like "%DataTargetDir%Employee.txt" in the "File name:" box, but it's not working.
Am I approaching this the right way?

Hi,
I have a data flow task within a foreach file loop. My problem occurs when I tried to make up an expression for the connection string of the Excel connection manager. Somehow I can see only system variables and none of the variables which I set up within the scope of the foreach file loop.
Can anyone provide me any insight into this mystery? As far as I can see, all the variables I created in the foreach file loop are still showing on the variable windows (without the Show All Variable button clicked).

I am using sqljdbc41.jar to connect with MSSQL database, it is working fine on my local machine.Where as on the remote server, same class giving me error

I am using sqljdbc41.jar and on 64 bit processor , I am using following command which included path for sqljdbc_auth.dll java -Djava.library.path= C: sqljdbc_4.1enuauthx64 TestDao and error is Login failed for user '<domain><windows loginID>' why it is not picking up username passed in connection string. I have 2 machines, one is local and other is remote. on both machine I login using my domain, it is working absolutely fine on local then why the error is coming on remote machine.Both the machines are identical.

Hello,
I've created a SSIS Solution and have created Data Sources. I have two packages. One was created before the Data Sources, and one was created after. The package that was created after is using connections from the Data Sources. I want to change the package before the Data Soruces were created to use them, but when I right click in the Connection Managers pane "New Connection From Data Source.." is not an option.
Did I not add it to the Solution properly?
How do I get it to show?
Did I not refresh something?
Please provide the how if you figure it out.

I have an Execute SQL Task that executes "select count(*) as Row_Count from xyztable" from an Oracle Server. I'm trying to assign the result to a variable. However when I try to execute I get an error:
[Execute SQL Task] Error: An error occurred while assigning a value to variable "RowCount": "Unsupported data type on result set binding Row_Count.".
Which data type should I use for the variable, RowCount? I've tried Int16, Int32, Int64.

I am writing a query to return some production data. Basically i need to insert either 1 or 2 rows into a Table variable based on a decision as to does the production part make 1 or 2 items ( The Raw data does not allow for this it comes from a look up in my database)
I can retrieve all the source data i need easily but when i come to insert it into the table variable i need to insert 1 record if its a single part or 2 records if its a twin part. I know could use a cursor but im sure there has to be an easier way !

Was wondering if there was a best practice minimum permissions for creating a SQL login to use when setting up a new shared Data source for SSRS report manager?
Something along the lines of them being a data read for the DB and permissions to update tempdb?
Would have thought it not advisable to have the login be able to update the main db...

I have a customer-supplied stored procedure that returns a single row containing XML using the FOR XML EXPLICIT syntax against a SQL 2000 database.
When I run the proc in SQL Mgt console and save the XML to a file, I can read it in my SSIS package using the XML Source with no problem. I built the XSD from this file.
However, when I execute the proc within my package using the Exec SQL task using the XML Resultset option and saving the result to a String variable with package scope, and then try to read the XML into the XML Source from the variable, I get nothing. My data flow task runs to completion but it has no data.
The sproc seems to run fine. Is there a way I can look at the variable while the package is running to determine if it does have data? Anything else here I might be missing?
One other note, as a debugging measure, I put the SQL to execute the sproc in an OLE DB data source in my data flow task and tried to preview the data. When I did, all I got was "System.byte[]"...no XML. This is the same command I ran in the query window with no problems (copy/paste). I don't know if this is telling me I have a data-type issue or just if what I'm trying to do isn't allowed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I'm attempting to use a variable to define the file name in my flat file connection (for error files in my SSIS package).
I have it defined as follows:
@[User::ValidRootFolder]ConditionConditionSourceError.csv
However it throws an error 'the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect'.
If I put the value of the variable in explicitly it works, so I know my variable name is correct - am I just not calling the variable properly?

I can€™t figure out how to map xml data stored in a table to a variable in integration service.
For example:
I would like to use a €śfor each loop container€? to iterate through a row set selected from database. Each row has three columns, an integer, a string and an xml data. In the variable mappings, I can map the integer column and the string column to a variable with type of int and a variable with type of string. But I am having trouble to map the xml data column to any variable. I tried using either a string variable or object. It always reports error like €śvariable mapping number X to variable XXX can€™t apply€?.
Any help?

Hi all,
I am trying to extract certain data from MySQL
(example sql statement is SELECT COLUMN1, COUNT(COLUMN2) FROM TABLE
GROUP BY COLUMN1) and stored COLUMN1 and COUNT(COLUMN2) values into
variables and then copy the values from the variables and insert them
into a new table in sql server 2005 and has two columns in it (COLUMN1
of type nvarchar and COLUMN2 of type int). I can map the first output
(COLUMN1) correctly to variable type String and store them in the new
table in sql server 2005 (store the value in a variable type String and
then use insert and store it into sql server using parameter in Execute
Sql Task set the data type to NVARCHAR, but I cannot map the second
output (COUNT(COLUMN2)) using the same method, I could not even get it
to store into a variable of any type. Anyone have any idea how to go
about it? Thanks in advance.
The output of the sql statement for MySQL should look like:

Hi there, i have written a page and for a long time it worked (or so i thought) now all of a sudden it dosnt. I have gone right back to basics and tried to only insert one variable, tried using a text box, a string pre populated, or a string populated by the text box - nothing seems to work. However if i hard code in the thing that i want, even into the SQL or into my param it works, whats going on! i think my programming skills are letting me down here!

Here is my current code. I have manually selected cartProduct = "Cheese" and cartCost = 1, however I would like these variables to be site by data from the query.
So I want cartProduct = Title and cartCost = Price from the SQL query.
How do I do this?
