2.Exchange server 2003. Service pack don't know ( How to check)
From last 2 months, every two days my exchange server stops responding to clients.
When I check the services, all the Exchange related services are ON. ( they are running fine).
Then I use to Restart All excahnge related services, i.e Microsoft Exchange Information Store & Ms Exchange System Attended service and things starts working fine again.
This I have to do every 2 days.
I don't know why this is happening.
Can anyone assist me to resolve as it is getting critical day-by-day.
Also How can I check which service pack of exchange is installed.
Can anyone help me? My brand new installation of SQL Server 6.5 running on Windows 2000 suddenly stops working for about 6 minutes, in this periods no one can use SQL 6.5 services because it stops responding. My logs is show below:

Hello, I have 2 servers with the same software (win2k, sql 2000 sp3) and the same data on them. The older server is working fine, but the new one that I am trying to use will run fine for a various amount of time and then stop responding. I am confused because when it does this I can pull up the task manager and see that there is plenty of memory and cpu left, and there are no error messages up on the screen. The only way that I can get the server to respond again is to restart the system. The problem never happens at the same time of day and it doesn't matter how long it has been since the last reboot, could be 5 minutes, could be 5 hours. If anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this, any replies are appreciated. The new system is a dell 2600, 2G Ram, Xeon processor, win2k.
I've noticed some strange behavior on my SQL Server. A little background first:
This server is strictly used for SQL Server Active/Passive cluster Windows Server 2003 Enterprise w/ SP1 SQL 2005 Enterprise w/ SP2 8GB of total memory in the server, SQL Server has min: 4GB, max: 6GB Disk drives are on a SAN 4 hyperthreaded, Xeon 1.4GHz proccessors
Now, the issue I'm seeing...
Every once in a while, my users will start to complain about application slowness and we'll start getting application timeouts. I'll look at my SQL server and my server stops responding for a time period of 8-9 seconds. One minute after the server 'wakes up', the process starts again where it will not respond for 8-9 seconds. The clock on the server stops refreshing then will jump to the current time, and in perfmon, there is an actual break in the counters. This does not happen at all times throughout the day, but I do need to find out a solution for this behavior.
During this 8-9 seconds, all processing is put on hold and continues when the server 'wakes up'. Any new connections to the server are accepted during this timeframe, but have to wait through this 'dead' time as well.
Any and all comments, suggestions, concerns, or things I could be looking at are appreciated.
I have had my site running for several months now. My pages retrieve data from the SQL Server on the same machine. Today my users are are getting the message "SQL Server does not exist or access denied"
I have made sure that the credentials are correct. I can use those credentials to create a DSN on the server. So I don't know where to look for the problem. Help please!

Our users enter data into the MS Exchange database using custom Outlook forms. We want to import that data in SQL Server using SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS). We do not see Exchange in the Data Source list in the DTS wizard. Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe an OLEDB provider for Exchange?
Hi,I am having a hard time setting up an SQL Server 2000 DeveloperEdition instance for remote clients. The instance is running well andI can connect to it on the local computer. When I try connecting fromanother computer using Enterprise Manager with the server's IP as theinstance name, I always get the usual "Specified SQL Server not found"error. I have used Enterprise Manager many times to connect to localand remote servers (which were set up by someone else obviously).I used the client network utility on the client to make an alias forthis server and have it use the TCP/IP library for port 1433.I understand that SQL Server listens on port 1433 for connections. Ihave a firewall on the server and setup 1433 forwarding. But when Iuse Enterprise Manager to try to register the server, the firewalldoesn't even show a connection attempt on port 1433 (it logs allconnection attempts). When I use telnet to port 1433, the firewall logs the attempt butthere is still no connection, as if the server isn't actuallylistening on 1433 at all. I can't seem to find any help on getting theserver listening, as if it supposed to be easy to set up so I don'tknow what I'm missing. I guess I have the following questions:1) Does anything have to be done on the server side to set it up tolisten for remote client connections?2) How do I set the port on which the server listens in case I want tochange from 1433?3) Does anything have to be set up on the client side other than usingthe client network utility?4) Why does Enterprise Manager not seem to even attempt a connectionon port 1433 when I try to register this server?Any help is appreciated.
Hello, I know that this has been asked several times, but none of the answers that I've found seem to help me. I've been programming a C# client app that helps netadmins at my school file and solve tickets. I use an SQL 2005 backend; it works just fine on my dev computer (with C# express installed) which doubles as the SQL server. Now, when I move to a different computer, w/o Visual C# or SQL installed, I get. "Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=(RANDOMVALUE)' failed."
I've got a couple of jobs who have a odbc connection to a AS400 machine. But when these jobs run they won't stop anymore. I've got to stop these jobs manually so that the next day the jobs can start again as scheduled. The jobs did run all the packages succesfully. Does somebody know how this is possible? It did work fine but since a couple of weeks they just won't stop anymore. I hope you can help me! :S
I have transactional replication set up between two dedicated servers. Server A is the PDC and Server B is a BDC (they are both Win2000 boxes). Both the servers are brand new, and replaced the two that were running like clock work (replication wise) for the last 12 months. I never had this problem with the old servers....
When the servers are shut down (as the case was a couple of weeks back with a power failure) or just recently when they were move to another room. Both servers boot up at the same time. Server B (which is the server holding the db being replicated) boots quicker and as a result replication fails and is then 'sucessfully stopped'. Unless I am aware of the server being rebooted and can monitor this potential problem, within 2 days the logfile grows to large and everything comes to a crashing halt.
I just remove replication, truncate and shrink the log, reset replication and we're away.... BUT I really need to know why it is happening in the first place. I figure there must be a setting that I have forgotten about or something.

I have just installed SQL Server 2005. The machine had an expired version of SQL Express on it which I removed. Now when i go to open the Management Studio it says it can't connect. When I check the service, it is set to automatic using the local account but is not running. When I start it, it throws an error stating that it started and then stopped. The first error record in the log file states:
Server TCP provider failed to listen on [ 'any' <ipv4> 1433]. Tcp port is already in use.
Could this be causing the problem? How do I check to see what is using 1433? In general, what the heck did I do wrong during the install? One article said something about the new installation thinking it was still the expired version. Could there be something left in the registry from the old version of Express causing this?

(I have posted this on Windows Vista forums but had no response).

Has anyone been able to solve the issue with setting up a package in EM, which connects to an Exchange(.edb) database and extracts the data into a SQL Server db. Previous message posts don't offer much insight. So far, all I have is using Access 2000, to connect & move the data, then extract from here. Thanks in advance for any help. BV
On my SQL Server 2000, I have successfully created a linked server to my Exchange 2000 server (located on the same physical computer). I can't send request and everything is fine.
But now, I would like to apply the "Impersonate" setting. The big problem I've got is that Exchange doesn't use a login and password for the authentification but use the Windows credentials.
I have try things like : login : <domain name><username> with the real password login : <username>@<internet domain name> with the real password but that doesn't work.
I would like to know if there is a way to "impersonate" user log on the SQL Server when they try to use the linked server to Exchange Server.
I'm using sql server 2005 and exchange 2003. End result is I want to upload email attachments to a table in sql. No one seems to have any idea how do do this except with .net, which i know nothing about so not really an option for me. I found this bit of info with some extensive web searching. Can anyone help fill in the blanks? I can't get the linked server to work yet.

Can't figure this one out. SSMSEE just stopped working. It's been working fine for about a year. All of a sudden I am getting a 'Not Responding' message and it hangs up. I can still get to the database with other 3rd party tools, so I don't think anything is wrong with the database. All the SQL Server services are still running. I tried repairing the installation. Didn't work. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it from scratch and it still doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas how I can proceed from here to find out what's wrong?
Firstly I should say my Reporting Services were working fine until I changed a setting in IIS today - under the Virtual Directory for the site I clicked Properties>ASP.NET>Edit Configuration. Changed 'Authentication' to Forms and everything went wrong; changing it back to Windows made no difference.
Now when trying to navigate to Report Server / Report Manager I get these errors:
RS : An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help Object reference not set to an instance of an object. RM: The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.
Following advice found elsewhere on the web, I checked my web.config file for an an erroneous xmlns entry... but it wasn't there. I have also deleted/recreated my virtual directories from within IIS/RSC. Also I have done a basic reinstall of Reporting Services (from within Add/Remove Programs>Change).
Below are my error logs and the listings for my web.config files; hopefully these will be of use in working out where the problem lies - I really need to get this fixed as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance, Dan
