May 14, 2007
Hi,
In BI Tool SSIS Packages run fine and get data From Oracle and Save it in SQL Server.
Package Protection Level is EncryptSensitivewithPassword.
In BI tool when i open the package it ask password and then run fine.
If i change the Protection Level to Dont save Sensitive,
It does not run fine in even BI tool.
It is fine if i use EncryptSensitivewithPassword.in BI Tool and run it.
Now the problem is that i need to run this package through SQL Job.
so Job give error
"Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node because the password was not specified or not correct. Package load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information."
Please i need help ?
Thanks

Hello all, I have read many topics about this error but it doesn't fix my packages in my particular case. The problem is that I access to a database in Oracle using the Ole DB provider for Oracle
I get that the mentioned error when I try to run a job from the agent.
1 - When I set "DontSaveSensitive" to ProtectionLevel I get this error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "ORA-01017: username/password no valid".
This is normal because the connection needs a password.
2 - When I set "EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey" to ProtectionLevel I get the mentioned error: "Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTSassword" ..
The other options to ProtectionLevel doesn't work neither. I have tried to write the password in the field required...
I have tried many possibilities but nothing new, it doesn't work.
Does anybody have this error with Oracle as source file ???
Thank you .

Dear all,
I've built SSIS package and made a job to execute it automatically but it always returns an error. The job returns OK but when we looked at the Log File viewer, it conatins this error log :
Key not valid for use in specified state
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS Password" with error
What's wrong with the package ?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Hery

I have a package (PackageA) with an Execute Package Task that execs PackageB. When I run PackageA I get this error on the Execute Package Task :
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
PackageB has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel. I'm providing passwords in the dtsConfig so I'm guessing I should change it to 'DontSaveSensitive'?
Interestingly, PackageA also has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel, but I don't get an error about PackageA, just on the task that runs PackageB.
(SP1 is installed).

This package has been developed by a person who left the company. I think he had admin permissions on the servers.

We run 2012 enterprise. When I open my project on a different machine than the one I used to create the project, I get the following warnings. I'm concerned about 1) checking in source from different machines, 2) what is going to happen when we run this in production. All of the project params are sensitive=false and required = true. The master package stageprototype.dtproj has no pkg params and no configs.
The project's protection level is encryptsensitivewith user key but as far as i know there is nothing sensitive in this collection of master and sub packages. I'm concerened that id I change this to dont save sensitive, I'll be looking for a needle in a haystack, specifically the thing or things ssis thinks are sensitive right now.
Warning 1 Warning loading StagePrototype.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node. Verify that the project was created by the same user. Project load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information.

Warning 2 Warning loading StagePrototype.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt sensitive data in project with a user key. You may not be the user who encrypted this project, or you are not using the same machine that was used to save the project. Hi,
I,ve been searching the forum for answers to this error but with no luck:
Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTSassword" with error 0x80070002 "The system cannot find the file specified.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
Setup:
I'm running the packages from the SQL Job Agent - the packages are stored in the file system. The agent is using a proxy account to get the right permissions. I know this because the job has run for severel weeks without errors. The package is calling other packages and is using configuration files. It was actually more than on job that failed (with the same error) - but not all the jobs.
Now it is saying that it can not "find the file specified" - what file would that be? - I'm wondering if it is a package file or a configuration file or maybe another file. It dosn't give me any other information to where the problem is.
Any help is appreciated!
Regards
Simon

Hi
I have a package that runs fine however it keeps giving me this message below. Now from a previous post it mentions it is to do with the EncriptedSensitiveWithUserKey what would be the suggestion to run it as Don't save sensitive perhaps?

I have developed several SSIS packages with the last Beta of VS2005 / SQL Server CTP. After the public release I tried to uninstall the CTP-Versions to install the msdn finals but this time I got lost and was not able to satisfy the requirements of the final setup of VS2005. So I decided to install the whole pc again and after some hours I had a clean machine (XP with latest SQL Server 2005 Standard and VS2005 Professional).
Now I have tried to open my SSIS-Project but getting the following error:
Error loading ImpNetqNewsRss.dtsx: Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Schlüssel ist im angegebenen Status nicht gültig.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.
After some “googling” I found this thread: URL... If I’m right the solution should be to use a Package Password, but I can’t figure out where I have to go enter/change a password. I even can’t remember I that ever used a password on my old installation for a dtsx-package?

I am trying to connect to a Oracle 9i Server to execute a sql task, but the connection when tested seems to fail with the following error from the Integration Services Project:
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. ERROR [NA000][Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle][Oracle]ORA-12541: TNS:no listener
ERROR[IM006][Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLSetConnectAttr failed
ERROR[0100][Microsoft ODBC Driver Manager] The driver does not support the version of ODBC behavior that the application requested (see SQLSetEnvAttr).
The connection was configured and tested from Oracle's SQLPlus session. Please note that the port that the TNS Server is listening is not the default. Is there somewhere I can specify the port in the SSIS connection manager to resolve the issue.
I have tried OLEDB connection and that does not work either.
Any inputs will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Monisha

Hello
SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition SP3
I have an application which uses a login with an encrypted password. Everything works well, no errors in the application.
My SQL Server errorlogs keeps recording:
Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I know this message is related to the login with the encrypted password (tracked it with Profiler)
My question: Is it normal that the error log tracks this message because the password is encrypted?
Many thanks!
Worf

I have created a FTP task in SSIS to upload file to the server. Due to some policy issues we do not have the actual password with us. we have been provided with a encrypted password. Hence I am not able to connect to the server through the FTP task connection manager. Is there a way to connect to the server and send file using the encrypted password, so that we don't require the actual password to run the process successfully?

I've a SQL server 2014 running on one of our server. We're in the process of implementing security steps for our databases. I've encrypted a column in one of the table in the database on the server. The issue is when I restore the backup on my local SQL server and run a query to decrypt the column data it gives me null values. On the other end when I decrypt the column data on the main server it works fine. I found a thread on this forum which states to do the following when restoring the encrypted database on different server.
USE [master];
GO
OPEN MASTER KEY DECRYPTION BY PASSWORD = 'StrongPassword';
ALTER MASTER KEY ADD ENCRYPTION BY SERVICE MASTER KEY;
GO
select File_Name
, CONVERT(nvarchar,DECRYPTBYKEY(File_Name))
from [test].[dbo].[Orders_Customer]
I tried doing above still no luck.

Hi,
I am new to using SSIS (after using DTS on SQL Server 2000 for many years).
I am trying for the first time to connect to an Oracle 9.2 database and export data from it into SQL Server 2005.
I used the Microsoft OLE DB Oracle Provider to connect to the Oracle instance. The test connection works fine, but when I try and preview a table or copy data from Oracle I get the error....
The component reported the following errors
Cannot retrieve column code page
Has anyone got any ideas how I fix this?
Many thanks
Pete

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to build a Data Warehouse using SSIS in SQL Server 2005. My source data is in Oracle RDB. Now when I am trying to connect to oracle RDB using the OLE DB Source component, I am getting the following error.
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Oracle client and networking componenets were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or late client software installtion.
Provider is unable to funtion until these components are installed.
I did install the Oracle RDB client software .Apparently it looks like Microsoft OLE DB for Oracle supports Oracle 7.3.3 and above. At the same time I tried to use ODBC for Oracle RDB driver from ODBC data sources. But the OLE DB Source Component in SSIS can't recognize ODBC. So now I am stuck on how to load the data from Oracle RDB to SQL Server 2005 staging area.
Any thoughts on this would be really appreciated. Ideally we are looking to port the data directly from Oracle RDB to SQL Server without any intermediate flat files (flat files etc)
Thanks,
SK

I have created a Test SSIS Package within BIDS (VS 2K8, v 9.0.30729.4462 QFE; .NET v 3.5 SP1) that connects to our Test Listener.
There is only 1 Connection Manager Object, and OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
The ConnectionString lists: Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI
The Test Connection within BIDS works.
The Package Control Flow has just 1 Object, and Execute SQL Task that performs an Exec on an SP that contains only a Select (Read).
The Package runs within BIDS.
I've placed this Package within a Job on the Primary Node. Ive run the job successfully using 32 bit runtime on and off. The location of the file on the server happens to be on a share that resides on what is currently the Secondary Node.
When I try to run the exact copy of this Job on the Secondary Node (Which has been Set up for Read All Connections; Yes), I get an error, regardless of the 32 bit runtime opiton. At this point, the location of the file is on the Secondary Node.
The Error is: "Login failed for user 'OurDomainAgent_Account'".
The Agent is a member of NT ServiceSQLServerAgent on both instances, and that account is a member of SysAdmin. Adding the Agent account as well, and giving that account SysAdmin, makes no difference either.
Why can't I get this to work?

I'm using a shared data source to connect an Oracle server in my packages. After changing the database user password in the shared data source, I noticed the package concerned would fail with the following description.
Source: "OraOLEDB" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied".
Is there a way to ensure the packages will use the latest information in the shared data source? I did do a Rebuild before executing the packages.

Hello All,
I have a unique problem while connecting to oracle source with a 64 bit processor. I can connect to the oracle from the command prompt in the 64 bit processor but not from SSIS.
The acutal problem is, when check the properties of the connection manager and provide a provider for oracle, and then provide username and password and click on test connection. I get the following error:
"Test Connection failed because of an error in initializing provider.ORA-06413: Connection not open"

To do this successfully do I need to backup the Service master, Database master, and database itself from the the Source server, then restore all three of them on the destination server?
(I'm concerned that restoring the source Service Master key to a new target server with an existing sql 2005 install will screw things up big time.)
TIA,

The Excel file is made by 2 worksheets but I need only one and inside this worksheet I have to loop through the columns and for each column I define a Data Flow that trasform the data as necessary and then insert into the table.
I started with a "Foreach ADO.NET Schema Rowset Enumerator" with connection=excel file and the schema was set to "Columns" but the loop go also through the worksheet that I don't need..

how do i add a password (ie, what is the exact wording) to the CommandLine in a SQL Agent Job that is running an SSIS package from the File System, pls?
Here is the CommandLine as I currently have it:
/FILE "\dbase01c$SSISPackageDeployment vrscanus_process_uploadscanus_process_upload.dtsx" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
I have tried /PWD and /pwd and /PASSWORD already. For these, SQL Job says they are not valid commandLine parameters.
