Need Help Regarding Replication Between SQL Server 2005 And SQL Server Mobie Edition!

I am working on my graduation project that has a wide section of PC Pocket application to merge data between the SQL Mobile Edition and the SQL Server 2005. So, i had done most of the steps mentioned in the Books Online for the SQL Mobile Edition, till i had reached the step of creating a subscription for the Mobile Database, it is known that at the end of this step there would be a code generated in order to use it in developing the application and after clicking finish the wizard will start Synchronization. Here this step fails with a message informing me that the snapshot agent is not started yet or the publisher didnt generate the snapshot yet !!
I just want to display all the data of a Single table into a Data Grid, I know that we can drag and drop the table on to a form and datagrid is generated, but here I want to retrive those values through my code, how should i do that
I am getting following errors while running the program Error 1) Error No. 28037, MS SQL Server 2005 Evrywhere Edition Error: A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. Note: While adding a Data Source of SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition, I have added that .sdf file into my project, thats why I have written the Data Source as : .DbFile.sdf

Hi All ...I have been following the MS on-line tutorials to get replication setup between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Compact Edition. I get to the point where I run the Configure Web Synchronization and it is running through the process where it is doing the automated configuration of the shared directory - assigning users etc.I have attempted this step with a user account that I expressly created for snapshots and with the Administrator account and get the following error message:* The operation completed successfully. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070000)At first, I thought this was a rights issue due to the fact that I was using an account that I manually created. However, by using the Administrator account (test only until I can figure this out) that should have removed any rights issues associated with accessing the shared directory where the snapshot will reside.Any help in getting this figured out will be greatly appreciated.David L. does anyone know whether a SQL Server 2005 Everywhere database can be replicated with a common MS Access database? Is there any possibility to synch a database on a mobile device (SQL Everywhere) with a central database on a server computer (like MS Access or SQL Express) without having to use a full version of SQL Server? Replication is just needed for merging a small database (4-5 tables) so I think the full version of SQL Server is a little bit oversized for this issue (and too expensive, too).
Wondering if anyone has any experience with SQL Server Express Edition (SSEXP). We're looking at a mobile sales force type model, so a local database on a laptop with no real time network connection. So the users would collect data locally, then connect up to the network every few days to replicate the data to a central server. So questions.. Has anyone tried anything similar? How stable/mature is SSEXP? Any other thoughts, alternatives or gotchas anyone can think of?
I have been unable to create a replication from an SQL Server 2005 standard edition database to remote SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The remote express edition is on a Virtual Private Server we are leasing from a hosting company. The name of the remote DB is similar to vs572.si-vs572.com. I can connect to this with SQL server authentication through Management Studio and also with SSIS. But, I have been unable to create a push subscription (I have tried a test push subscription with the same publication to a local SQL Express server here in our office and this works fine).
Here is the error message: SQL Server Replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Connections through server alias, IP address, or any other alternate name are not supported. Specify the actual server name, 'VS572SQLEXPRESS'.
The hosting company had originally installed a shared SQL server which would not support replication. They then installed SQL Express edition and I was hoping this would allow us to run a replication.
I tried to connect to VS572SQLEXPRESS with out any luck. I check the remote connections, made sure replication was installed, etc., but no luck.
I am currently downloading the mega-sized files for SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and was wondering if I was going to be able to install it onto my workstation alongside the SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition? Was hoping someone could advise. I did browse for an answer, but have not come across it yet. I know I'll find out once my download is complete, but that could be awhile :)

I got a problem in my development phase. I'm developing a web-application system that running merge database technology which is centralized database and distributed database. This is because my customer want a highly optimum system standby.
My centralized database running SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and the distributed database running SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (because it is free). Each of these database, the users can change the data on its database. So, every database must have the same data. from my understanding, each server must act as Publisher and Subscriber. Can SQL Server 2005 Express Edition be a Publisher?
If not, what the solution you all may suggest, because cost is the first factor. If my architecture is not correct, so what you all suggest to me to resolve the problem.

We have been using Sql Server 2005 Compact Edition 3.1 RDA synchronization method successfully on Sql Server 2000 database. Recently we moved the database to Sql Server 2005, sync doesn't work anymore, it just hangs on one table. On further investigation, we found out that it's the index on that table that causes this. We removed the index, it works fine. We are wondering the root cause, removing the index is not a solution for us. Any thoughts?. Thanks.

Hi -I have istalled sql server 2005 standard edition , I want to install sql server 2005 enterprise edition on the same machine. Is it possible? I have Microsoft windows server 2003 SP2 and 1GB RAM. I want to use partition function with the enterprise edition, will the trial version of sql server work for me? -If I have already created a database and tables using the standard edition, will I be able to access and use the database using the installed trial version or will I have to start a fresh creating a new database? - Is it possible to access the same database with any of the installed versions?
BTW, I am prety new to sql server and databases , I am trying to learn by myself

I am attempting to upgrade a 2005 Standard Edtion to Enterprise Edition. This is a default instance. All components are upgraded successfully except the Database Engine. I receive the following error:
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following problem: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]The certificate cannot be dropped because one or more entities are either signed or encrypted using it.. To continue, correct the problem, and then run SQL Server Setup again.
This installation does not have encryption enabled, so I do not undersand the error or how to correct it.
After rebooting the SQL instance appears to be upgraded to Enterprise, but it cannot be upgraded to SP2.
Hi I am interested in taking MCTS exam 70-431 for sql server 2005 implementation and maintainance. I have been reading the hardware requirements for the instalation of sql server versions and realise that enterprise and developer editions have same minimum requirements for the operation system. I understand that the Developer Edition includes all the functionality of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, but it is licensed for use as a development and test system, not as a production server.
Also I undestand that the developer edition supports the Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 or later but the enterprise edition does not support this operating system. The evaluation/trial version is for the enterprise edition. Can I use the developer version of sql server 2005 for my practice exercises instead of using the trial version? I have all hardware requirements for the trial enterprise version except that I am using Microsoft windows Xp home edition version 2002 with SP2. I am trying to see if I can use the developer version of sql server 2005 as it is cheaper for me to buy this software than buying the new operating system for my computer. According to the microsoft book for the MCTS exam 70-431 there is a section which states that before you begin you should have Microsoft Windows Server 2003 running on your computer on an NTFS file system (NTFS) partition. Will I still be ok to use the book and be able to do all the tests in the book if i am using the developer version of sql server 2005 with my Microsoft windows Xp home edition than using the trial version which comes with the book?
I'd like to upgrade from my current SQL Server version: 09.00.3042 (Workgroup edition that comes with SBS upgrade) to the standard edition that I've just purchased. I've attempted to run setup.exe SKUUPGRADE=1 from the command prompt and it just tells me that there's nothing new to install.
I don't really want to uninstall the current installation just to do something that shouldn't be complicated to do, upgrading software versions should not be a difficult process.
As an ISV, I want to certify my product on Standard Edition. I am using Developer Edition everywhere. Is there a way I can do the certification using the Developer Edition, or do I need to obtain/purchase a copy of the Standard Edition?
We have an existing installation of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition (64bit) that we are ready to go live with and would like to change the edition to Enterprise Edition (64bit). We have purchased all the appropriate licenses. We would like to avoid UN-installing the Developer Edition and RE-installing the Enterprise Edition. There must be some way to change a registry key, provide your serial number via a command line utility or re-run the setup with the license key provided and direct it to just change the edition from Developer to Enterprise and not change any of the other settings like service account, sa account, collation, etc. Any help is most appreciated.
I tried to download PerformancePoint Server Trial Version to ther server today and I got to the configuration point of the Analysis Services Setting, and when I clicked next to proceed with the configuration I got a popup error message: "Microsoft Analysis Server must be Evaluation, Developer or Enterprise Edition".
Now I have SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition Disc (Bought it with Visual Studio 2005) but on the server I have SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition, if I try to run the sql server developer Edition disc, I use the wizard download and it seems that the download is going through the SQL Server entire download, it's like I'm re-downloading SQL Server all over again.
Does that seem right? what is the best approach to work around this probelm?
I have a SQL Server 2005 evaluation that has already been installed and setup on a server. I believe it originally had a 180 day eval. There have been numerous databases and users added as well as maintenance plan created...
The eval was put on the machine as an interim solution while waiting for paper work and order processiing things to happen. All the paperwork and ordering... have been completed and I now have the real SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition license key ....

1. Can I update the eval copy to become permanently licensed?
2. Would I want to upgrade the eval to permanent? Will I lose any capabilities by keeping the current eval setup?
If it is reasonable to keep the eval setup
3. How do I go about entering the license key to make it permanent?
If it is necessary to install the new Standard Edition...
4. How do I install it while maintaining the already defined databases, data, users, maintenance plan...
Hello!! How can I upgrade from SQL Server 2005 Express Edition to SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition? I see allot of example of upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005, but no example on upgrading from SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2005 Enterprise or Standard. Is this possible?
I need to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on a new Windows Server 2003 machine that has SQL Server 2005 Express Edition installed by a backup application (Backup Exec). Will I need to uninstall the express edition in order to install the standard edition? Can the two coexist as separate instances or will the standard edition installation simply upgrade the express installation?
Although clearly specified in the replication notes for SQL server 2005. I am wondering whether I still have some options for replication using the Standard Edition of SQL 2005. I see that subscriptions and publications are still a part of the menu. Am I still able to set up an oracle 8< database as a publisher which SQL can subscribe to???
My experience so far...I can access Local Subscriptions from the replications menu. There I can attempt to find a publisher, an oracle publisher is given as an option. The message I get is as follows: "To find an Oracle Publisher, you must first connect to the SQL Server Distributor that has been configured to work with that Publisher. Hi I am trying to complete sql server compact edition book online walkthrough "Creating a Mobile Application with SQL Server Compact Edition". I am successful to complete it as guided using all default settings (e.g. anonymous access, windows authenticaion etc.) and the sample run on both emulator and my pocket pc svc5000. But the problem is that in production environment i will not be able to connect to the sql server using named instance (e.g machine_nameinstance_name). i have to use ip address in that situation. so i tried to modify the sample to use ip address in place of named instance and then the problem starts.. I have configued my sql server to allow remote connections using tcp/ip and named pipes using sql surface area config tool.
When using named instance i used following code to Synchronize with sqlserver 2005 with and it worked perfectly :

Hi all, I just installed my VS 2005 Pro (full installation) and it installed Sql Server Express 2005. I also have a CD for Sql Server 2005 Developer Edition which I have not installed yet. My need for Sql Server on my development machine is for building and testing apps - just myself - no users will be hitting my sql server on my PC. Most of the time I hit my web server's sql server but also want the engine on my PC for when I'm offline. Question: Should I install the developer edition and remove sql server express? Doesn't the developer edition more closely emulate the full-blown sql server, just that it only allows one or a few users to hit for development and testing purposes? At the same time, sql server express is scalled back in that it doesn't have all the goodies? Thanks! Stewart
Hi, My objective is using a single DB file (mdf file) + SQL Server Express 2005 to run my program I got two softwares here, Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. Firstly, I installed Visual Studio 2005, normally the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition will be installed with this software. After finishing the installation. I opened a new project and try to open a DB file (.mdf) from Visual Studio 2005, it works. The problem is that I can't restore the mdf file from an old database file since it lose a lot of functions that appear in SQL Server 2000 / SQL Server 2005. And it is too troublesome and inconvenient to edit a DB file in Visual Stuio 2005. Therefore, I have to install SQL Server 2005 for me to edit the mdf file, so that I can modify, backup, or even restore the mdf file with another DB file. After the installation of SQL Server 2005, I got a tool, SQL Server Managment Studio, to edit the mdf file. I can open the mdf file but when I double-clicked on the mdf file in Visual Studio 2005, it gives me the following error message: Connections to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL Server Express 2005 to function properly. Please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49251 It seems the SQL Server 2005 modify some of the files in SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Is that SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition cannot be exist at the same time? The issue is I'm working on my computer, but I dun want to install SQL Server 2005 in the server that I will transfer to. It will be much like using Access DB file, without the Microsoft Access software, the program can still work well. However, when I'm still in programming stage, I do hope to have a DB file as the source file for my program, but I can do some editing works with SQL Server 2005.
