Not Getting The XML File When Running IDTSComponentPersist.SaveToXML Method
Jul 3, 2007
HI,
I am creating a custom control flow component in SSIS. The work flow of this component is to connect to File conection manager and after selecting the file it set properties of the file to variables. When i am runnning this component in SSIS , one method is calling i.e SAVETOXML. Here i am saving selected properties of the file to XMLby using XMLELEMent attribute. Its running fine. Here my question is where i can get that XML file. Where it is saving that XML file. From where i can Load that XML file. What is the use of LOADXML method.
Thanks in advance

All, if I were to write an app that has one task, determine whether ornot an SQL Instance is running, what would be the easist method forthis? I personally think that a query against the masterdb would dothe trick. I would appreciate any feedback you can provide.L

Hello all -
Based on advice from this board, I am setting up our newly-converted DTSX packages (sql server 2000 (DTS) to 2005 (SSIS) package conversion) to utilize package configurations to make it easier to run them in multiple environments (dev, testing, production, etc...). This seems to be working just fine, but I now have another question.
We have approximately 12 DTSX packages which need to be executed in a specific sequential order. I was wondering what the best / most widely accepted method is to allow for running them as an automated process. If you double click on each DTSX file individually, the "Execute Package Utility" pops up, and you can run the package. I'd like to know the best way for us to be able to run each package, one after the other (each one waiting until the previous one completes before it begins), until they have all processed. It would be nice if it did not rely on SQL Server being installed on the machine on which it is being run...
thanks for all the fantastic support on this site

In my environment, there is maintenance plan configured on one of the server and while running DBCC checkdb on a database of size around 200GB, log file usage of tempdb is increasing and causing the maintenance job to fail.
What can I do to make the maintenance job run successfully, size of the tempdb database is only 50GB and recovery model is set to simple. It cannot be increased as the mount point on which it is residing is 50GB.

I work with databases and some of my backup files are 30-100 gigs insize. I currently use the FastCopy utility to copy files from oneserver to another. (This is needed when I need to transfer a DB to adifferent server). FastCopy says its 30 to 50% faster than Windowsfile copy. I read somewhere that the windows kernel defaults to4mb/sec throughput for copying. Is this true? Is there a faster way or some utility to copy files?I'm aware of RoboCopy but the documentation didn't mention anythingabout faster performance. All my servers are windows 2000 NTFS.Thanks

I have made a small asp.net project which uses a local database file as a part of the project. The project is running fine om my local machine, but when I upload it to the remote server, the login fails for the server.
I suspect this is can be solved by using sqlserver authentication. But I have now spent a lot of time trying to configure the database file to use this authentication mode. As I see it there are three possible solutions to the problem.
use management studio express to configure the local mdf file (Ecxept that I cant find out how to connect to the mdf-file) and from here change the authentication method to sqlserver authentication.
use Visual Web developer to change the authentication method (but how???)
make the windows authentication work on the server (this would probably require that mannamgement studio express connects to the remote database. (Same problem as no 1)
Help will be higly appreciated.

Not sure this is the correct forum, but I'll give it a go. I am in the process of deploying a series of databases from a development environment to a production environment. I've done some searching around best practices, but haven't found anything specifically calls out what is best. I am looking to find out the best approach for moving the code/tables/views/SP's, well everything from my dev environment to the production environment. Due to the complexity and large number of objects to be created, would a backup/restore to the production server be more prudent than creating a batch file type thing that creates all the objects through a series of scripts?

Hi,
can I assign a NAS(Network Attached Storage) server to store the database file(readable and writable) and assign other several MS SQL database servers which will use the same database file in NAS to achieve the objective of high availability?
If it can, how can I set it up in MS SQL Server or it requires another 3rd patry software to set it up?
Thanks.

I am currently SQL admin since our ordinary SQL folks are at summer vacation.
Yesterday SCOM alerted that File Group is running out of space on one not so critical database "The file group "PRIMARY" for the database "loganalys" in SQL instance "MSSQLSERVER" on computer "sqlserver2" is running out of space".
I logged in to the SQL server and checked the database in question. It is a very large DB with a size of 577 GB.The storage on which the database files resides has 123 GB free space so that isn't the issue.
The database is set to autogrowth 1 MB at a time (unrestricted) so that doesn't seem to be the issue either. However, in the database properties under General, it says Space avaliable: 570 MB.
I guess that this may be the issue, that this is under some treshold for SCOM to alert on.I have looked at the other databases and they have everything between 0,25MB to 270MB space avaliable (they are all set to autogrowth 1 MB, unrestricted).
I am not sure what this means and if I have to do something about it?

My intention is to include a sql job to schedule for shrinking log files to half of its original log file size (if half of their original size is greater than 5MB)
The code is below. But while executing the code it is keeps on running indefinitely. can somebody throw some light what cause it to go into an indefinite loop.
Thanks

DECLARE @f_name varchar(128), @new_f_size int

I noticed that when i run from BIDs, it does come up with a window open file - security warning and says the publisher could not be verified, are you sure you want to run this software. why does it do that ??? the file I am asking to run is a .bat file. it should automatically use the cmd.exe app to run the bat file. This process is running around 3hrs on a SQLserever Standard Box having dual processer and 2gb ram. This procedures have bunch of bulk updates and at least one cursor ineacch procedure that gets looped through.I was wondering if anybody experienced this situation or have any clueas to why is this happening and how to resolve this?I am in a pretty bad shape to deliver this product and in need of urgenthelp.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..Thanks in advance*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***

Hi,I have dumped a very large database from mysql (using mysqldump program)as a raw sql file. The reason was, convert this database to a MSSQLdatabase. Since mysqldump creates the file as raw sql file with thedatabase-table structures and the data in it, I thought using OSQL commandline utilities should work to out this whole database in MSSQL server.I have run this command from command line:osql -u sa -i mysqldump.sqlIt is going since yesterday. It has been almost 36 hours that it'sstarted. And in the mssql server, I see no database created yet. On thescreen of the command line, I see bunch of numbers are going in order. Iassume they are row numbers of the tables processed. But, if it is doing it,then where is it saving all this data ? I have checked the tempdb, pub db,other dbs, and I see no tables related to the database I am inserting. Willit populate it at the and of the job ? Or, am I doing something wrong here?Regards.Murtix.
