I am using the code example that came from Microsoft for making a JDBC connection. I looked at my configuration of SQL Server and change to use a static port 1433. I shut off Windows firewall to make sure it was not blocking communication.
When I try to telnet to port 1433 it says

Hi,
I got this error while trying to restore my database (which was running on SQL Server 2005 Express Edition) onto another machine's SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.
Login Failed for user , the user is not associated with a trusted sql server connection. (microsoft SQL Server,Error:18452)
hi , i am getting the above error message once in a while maybe two or 3 times a week , and then it goes away in 10 to 15 minutes or 5 minutes ,
our mode is set to mixed and we are able to connect and use both sql and windows , but once in a while , it will give us the above message when we try connecting throught sql server management studio client (using sql 05) using windows login , although it lets us connect using sql login while the windows login is denied, and after a while it lets us connect with both.
occurs randomly on some days , we run our servers on VM ware virtual machines using windows 2003 r2 enterprise 64 bit with sp2 with esx 301 virtual machine.
Can anyone give a quick description of the meaning of this message andwhat needs to be done to get a connection.I'm running DBArtisan with SQLServer 2000 client SP4 installed.I also get the same message with MS Enterprise Manager so this iscoming out of the actual ODBC connection attempt. Thanks in advance!
"Failed to copy objects from Microsoft SQL Server to Microsoft SQL Server "
I keep getting this when trying to copy stored procs from one db to another on the same server. I am using the DTS wizard. I have been able to copy the tables but I need the sp's too, and there are too many to copy one at a time.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)
I received the above error yesterday and haven't been able to trace it to any job or process running. We haven't implemented any changes to the server in the past few months, and it doesn't look to be a user-established connection, since the Client IP Address of the SSPI handshake error is from the server itself.
I logged this set of messages in SQL AgentServer error log:
Date 10.03.2008 6:15:19 PM Log SQL Server (Current - 11.03.2008 2:32:00 PM) Source Logon Message SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x80090304 while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: <IP Address>]
I´m trying to connect to a integration service hosted in a different machine, but I recive the following message:
Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum) : access denied
I verified and the service that machine is running, maybe could be the user, I´m using windows authentication, I have no problems when I log in in the databse engine.
I'm installing Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 Premium. I am at the stage where I am installing the Premium Technologies. Specifically, I am trying to configure permissions for the new SHAREPOINT instance of SQL Server 2005. When I try to create the new login NT AuthorityNetwork Service, typing it exactly as specified in the instructions, I get the following error:

Hi, I had an old web application created during asp.net 1.1 and it have a connection problem with the sql server 2005 when it is mirgrated to a new webserver with dotnet framework 2.0 platform. I have enabled the remote access(TCP/IP and named pipes) in sql server 2005, did all the neccessary things, check whether the TCP/IP is enabled, named pipe is enabled... I created another web application using VS 2005. The database connection works perfectly well. This are the connectionString from the old web application.<appSettings> <add key="ConnectionString" value="Server=127.0.0.1;Database=somedb;User id=user; Password=somepassword; Trusted_Connection=False; POOLING=FALSE"/></appSettings> Thankyou in advance!
I know that another thread dealt with this error message before but after trying all the suggestions of that thread without success, I thought my problem may be different.
I have SSRS 2005 installed on my local machine (TAH112) and it worked flawlessly for months. Suddenly it stopped working today. The Reporting Services Configuration tool shows everything is normal (green buttons all the way except for encryption keys button that is blue and Execution Account button that is yellow).
When I try to connect to the server with SSMS, I got the following error:

recently, I use the following script(somebody else) to create a database on a remote server: the script is as follow: /*************************/ CREATE DATABASE [ErrorLog] GO

Grant select, insert On Errors to ErrorLog /***************************/ in my *.asp program, I used the following string to connect to the database on the remote server. /******** con.open "dsn=ErrorLog;uid=ErrorLog;pwd=secret;" ********/ the following message comes up: /********/ Error Type: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80040E4D) [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'ErrorLog'. /*********/ what is the problem here? when I set up dsn ErrorLOG, I used "abc" userID and password "XXX" which is our server database administrator assigned to me. I tested connection in odbc, it is OK I just don't get, ther user ErrorLog already had login id and granted access to database errorlog. any clue, please help! Betty

I receive this error when choosing the data connection in TableAdapter Wizard for me to reference the ASPNETDB.mdf database.

Occasionally I'm seeing the following error when tranlog or full backup maintenance plan is executing.
Failed-1073573396) Failed to acquire connection "Local server connection". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
What is strange is that it goes away without any action from myself. We have a tranlog backup that is scheduled every hour. I had this error happen once in the middle of the night. It looks like the job was running fine because almost all the backups are there. I've searched and not found a resolution to this error. I checked the event log and don't see any issues and even tried rebuilding the maintenance plans.
HiI'm a complete sql/asp.net newbie and want to try this tutorial:http://beta.asp.net/GuidedTour/First I installed:Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta 2systemsettingssoftware shows the "sql server 2005 express edition ctp (sqlexpress)" installedmmcservice shows me the SQL Server (SQLExpress) is runningFollowing the guided tour I use the commandline, type cmd, and type in the commandbox: "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90ToolsinnSQLCMD90" -S "localhostSqlExpress"Instead of localhost I also tried computername.smallbusiness.local (thats my fully domain name). However I always receive the error: Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2]Thank you very much for all your help
I have developed a database in MS SQL Server 2005 Express, to which I would require only bulkadmin server role from an external java application, because I only need to update rows, insert values or use select queries in the database.
The problem is that, using either the Microsoft JDBC Driver 1.1 or the Java JDBC ODBC Driver and the Windows XP Data Base (ODBC) configurations, I need a user with sysadmin server role inside Sql Server, otherwise JDBC won't connect to the database using the selected user. Even if I leave the sql login with setupadmin or any server role lower than sysadmin, the connection is refused.
Is there no way to connect using JDBC to MS Sql Server 2005 other than granting the connected user sysadmin rights? My code looks as follows:
Class.forName(driver); conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url,user,password); if (conn != null) System.out.println("SQL Server Connection established ...");
I have heard that Java JDBC connections to Microsoft require high-level access.
Any informed answer is more than welcome. Thanks for reading my post!

I'm new to SQL server 2005. I installed SQL server 2005 and had some problems with the original install. I therefore uninstalled SQL server 2005. Rebooted and than installed SQL server 2005 again. Everything appears to have installed correctly except for the fact that when I start SQL Server Management Suite I get 2 copies running in the foreground. The last copy of the SQL Server Management Suite shows a dialogue box that contain a warning sign (yellow triangle) with no text but an OK button is in the dialogue box. When I press the OK button, this instance of SQL Server Management Suite kills itself. The first instance is now given window focus and it brings up the "Connect to Server" dialogue box. I can connect to my local server and run a script to add columns to the database. But everytime I bring up SQL Server Management Suite, I always end up with 2 copies running and I have to hit the OK button to get rid of the second copy. Can anyone help me get ride of this annoying problem?
I get this error message when I try to connect to Reporting Services via the Management Studio.
I can see my machine listed in the Server Name > Browse For More > Local Servers dialogue. But no luck,
Ive tried:
Servername: localhost Servername: DED1774 (the machine name) Servername: localhost/reportserver Servername: DED1774/reportserver Servername: http://ded1774/reportserver (from the rsreportserver.config file
<UrlRoot>http://ded1774/reportserver</UrlRoot>)
I've Googled the error message and found postings for solutions, but none of these helped. Can anyone suggest some simple steps I can take to try to find the issue and get the connection working?
Have just tried my sql server 2005 connected asp classic website on II7 for the first time and have gotten some errors. First off I have unchecked show friendly errors in IE and have enabled ASP to send error messages to the browser.
My error I get is when I execute a basic .asp page:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "mydatabasename" requested by the login. The login failed. /index.asp, line 10 which is dbConnect.Open cstring
from this peice of code:
sub dbOpen() set dbConnect = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") cstring = "DSN=mysqldsn; Trusted Connection=yes" dbConnect.Open cstring end sub
I have gone into ODBC and have setup both a user dsn and file dsn that equals mysqldsn and points to my database (I know you only need to set up one DSN but I'm not sure which)
I also notice under mywebsite home panel there is a connection string option. Do I do anything with that?
Hello, I got an exception when I try to load/run a SSIS Package programmatically on the server using remoting. The client machine has no SQL Server 2005 component installed..
This is the error I get from my exe application:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsPipelineException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E} failed due to the following error: 80040154. at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application..ctor()
And this the Remote component:
<Serializable()> Public Class SSISComponent
Inherits MarshalByRefObject
Public Function LaunchPackage(ByVal sourceLocation As String, ByVal serverName As String, ByVal packageName As String, ByVal packageVariables As SortedList) As Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult
Dim packagePath As String Dim myPackage As Package Dim integrationServices As New Application ' Combine path and filename. packagePath = Path.Combine(sourceLocation, packageName) Try If integrationServices.ExistsOnDtsServer(packagePath, serverName) Then myPackage = integrationServices.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, serverName, Nothing) Else Throw New ApplicationException( "Invalid package name or location: " & packagePath) End If If Not packageVariables Is Nothing Then For Each de As DictionaryEntry In packageVariables myPackage.Variables(de.Key).Value = de.Value Next End If LaunchPackage = myPackage.Execute() Catch ex As Exception Throw End Try End Function End Class
This is the code that call the remote component to run the package on the Server: Public Class Test Private Function LoadAndRunPackageRemotly(ByVal PackageName As String, ByVal PackageVariables As SortedList) As Boolean
Dim launchPackageService As New SSISComponent Dim packageResult As Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DTSExecResult Try packageResult = launchPackageService.LaunchPackage(Me.SSISPackageLocation, Me.SSISServerName, PackageName, PackageVariables) If packageResult = DTSExecResult.Success Then LoadAndRunPackageRemotly = True Else LoadAndRunPackageRemotly = False End If Catch ex As Exception Throw End Try End Function End Class
I would like to inform that everything run inside a thread because the Package do a lot of things... When I build up the setup for the exe inside the Detected Dependencies there are several DLL related to SQL Server (Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll etc..etc..) that I don't register .. Tis could be the problem? If yes, somebody can tell me which one I have to register ? as COM or COMRelativePath? Some other hints?
This error could be also caused by wrong permissions on the ssis? Thank you very much for any help... p.s. To use sql server agent will be my last option!! Marina b.
I am trying to create a linked server between 2 SQL Server 2005 boxes. When I create the linked server I specify a login for the connection. The strange part is that I get the following error when it goes to test the connection:
The test connection to the linked server failed Login failed for user 'Domainuser'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)
I can use the SQL mangement studio to conenct to the database using this same login. The login has all the server roles assigned to it also.
Can anyone shed some light as to what may be the problem?
I just upgraded SQL Server 2000 to 2005 without any errors. Afterwards, I tried registering with sa and it failed. I registered with another sysadmin login to get into most of my databases, but I need sa to work for my backup software Idera SQLSafe to login to the database.
Does anyone have any experience or recommendations? I know my password is correct.
