Hi, Everyone. i am wondering if there is some way to hide a table row depending on the page number. I have tried to find a way to access the global page number to use it in an expression for the visibility property on the table row, but i havent found anything useful.
i need to add a datetime column to an exisitng table that has like 1.2 million records and its being accessed frequently but i cant afford to stop the db at all
whenever i do : alter table mytable add Updated_date datetime
it just takes too long and i have to stop executing the query after a couple of mins I am running sql express 2005 sp2. db size is over 3 gb but still under the 4 gb limit
can u plz advice on how to add this column. its urgent!!
Hello, I am very new to SQL and ran into a problem using Access. I hope you can help me here. The question is the following: I have to tables: Table 4x4: CommodityCode(string)/NeedofBU(high,low) Table ASDBComplete: CommodityCode/Manufacturer/Rating(red,green,yellow)
What I want to get as a result is to display all ComodityCodes that have a 'red' rating and a 'high' NeedOfBU. So far no problem. But now there usually is more than one manufacturer for one CommodityCode. What I need now is that the CommodityCode is not displayed if there actually exist a Manufacturer with 'green' or 'yellow' rating. How would you do that? What I have so far is:

But this gives me all the Commodities with red ratings. Even if there is a supplier with a green or yellow rating.
I would need somting like: if exists 'commodityCode.XY with 'manufacuturer rating = green OR yellow' do not display commodityCode.xy
I want to insert the rows automatically depending on the cell value in column from another table. Like if the value of cell "blabla" is 4 it automatically insert the 4 rows in my table with values.
I am trying to write a report that includes different lab values for an account number depending on the test. What I mean is if patient xyz had lab work and procedure number 1012 was ordered I need to include one line for the highest result value and one for the lowest result value. If I have procedure number 1032 I only need a line for the lowest value. I have a list of about 40 lab procedures that some require both highest and lowest, some just the lowest and some the highest. I have played around with CASE, but that hasn't worked for me.
I have a single table that consist of 4 columns. Entity, ParamName, ParamsValue and ParamiValue. This table stores normalized Late Fee related parameters for apartments. The Entity field contains a code that identifies the apartment complex. The ParamName in a textual field that contains the name of the parameter that the other 2 fields define the value for; ParamsValue and ParamiValue. If the Late Fee parameter (as named in ParamName is something numerical then the value for that parameter can be found in ParamiValue else its in ParamsValue.
I don't know if 'Pivot' is the correct term to use for describing what I am trying to do because I've looked at the Pivot examples and I don't see how that will work for this. Using the Table and data as provided below, how would I construct a query so that I get 1 row per Entity in which the columns are the ParamsValue or ParamiValue for the ParamName listed in the column header (for the query)?

If im to do the top N in excel i use pivot table functions to get the top N by whatever measure i pick from the dropdown:I cant do this in powerbi builder though, as it works very differently, or powerview which again is done differently.Do i have to take a different approach depending on the report platform, Â or is there a way to do this in the tabular model that will work on any platform?

At present it is not an Auto increment , I check for the Maximum ID and add One to the next Inserted record. Is there any simpler method?

I have a trigger that fires on update, populating a varchar field [ExampleDate_Str] with the dd/mm/yy format of the inserted datetime field [ExampleDate]. It works, but I don't want to rewrite it for the thousands of datetime fields in hundreds of tables in my db. So I am looking for a way to do something like this in a trigger -

Obviously the above doesn't work in SQL or indeed any other language yet invented - is it possible to make it so that it does, and if so, how? The main points are to read the column name into a variable, check the datatype, and modify the column named @ColName + "_Str".
I am loading files with same format from two different locations in to one database. First, my SSIS connects to location 1.

Location one has three different set files starting with
First Set: AP_1, AP_2,AP_3, Second Set: VD_1, VD_2, VD_3, Third Set: BK_1,BK_2,BK_3,
This SSIS set to run every 3 hours, if it finds files of any set load them. While loading it has to insert into a derivedcolumn called CustID. If the file name Starts with AP_ , custiD values should be as 101
AP_1 goes to Table1 AP_2 goes to Table2 AP_3 goes to Table3
If the file name Starts with VD_ , custiD values should be as 201 If the file name Starts with BK_ , custiD values should be as 301
after processing all these files in first location, the SSIS looks for files in second location and does the same?

Hi, I'm not sure if this can even be done but I will ask anyway. I have a table that has a sales price field in it. I have another field in that table called commission. The commission is 15% of the sale price. Is there any SQL that will calculate and automatically put that value in it, or only allow you to put the correct value in? I have questions and answers from one table, I need to select questions as column names and answers column values as the results for the questions column.
I am writing a query to return some production data. Basically i need to insert either 1 or 2 rows into a Table variable based on a decision as to does the production part make 1 or 2 items ( The Raw data does not allow for this it comes from a look up in my database)
I can retrieve all the source data i need easily but when i come to insert it into the table variable i need to insert 1 record if its a single part or 2 records if its a twin part. I know could use a cursor but im sure there has to be an easier way !

I want to select data from a table with 5.000.000 rows. It's very slowly. Do you now, how I can select only a XY number of rows? I can't use TOP in select query. User see only 20-30 rows on his page, but he can use page_up, page_down. Is possible to something as lazy load?
How could I correct the erroneous value on the property window of an SQL Table.
My problem is that, if I am going to display the property window of Table1, the 'Rows' information displays 115. However, if I am going to execute - Select Count(*) from Table1 then it returns 117. How could I fix this glitch?
