Im sure this is something minor that I am overlooking but for some reason when I go to debug my ssis package all these windows keep opening( callstack, watch1, watch2,watch3,breakpoints, etc) . I cant seem to find out how to disable these -- any suggestions? I dont remember actually setting these to run
Have two C# applications - one WinForms desktop app, the other a WinForms smart device app. Both use SQL Server Compact CE 3.5 to store data locally. Both work just fine.
Now the desktop app needs to open and update the .SDF file that is stored on the Windows Mobile device. (Device will be docked via USB.)
What format would the path to the .SDF look like that the WinForms application would need to specify in order to open it?
Hi everyone, I am having a difficult time debugging a package that I'm working on. I read in BOL that the immediate window should be an option during debugging but I can't find it anywhere(nor can I enable it), and I was planning on using it to access an oledb source property that is using an expression. Is the command window the same as immediate? I didn't orignally think so but I'm not sure. What is the syntax to use for this once I find it? Thanks, Adrian
I have a problem when i want to debug an ssis component under visual studio 2005.
I'm using sql 2005 with service pack 2 and i have already install patch for visual studio under vista.
When i put a breakpoint for exemple in the method "public override void PreExecute()" or in the other method. "public override void ProcessInput(int inputID, PipelineBuffer buffer)" and i execute the pgm.
however when i begin debugging,it's always skip breakpoint
However when i put a break point in the Validate method "public override DTSValidationStatus Validate()" it function.
I have found that when I'm debugging a custom component in BIDS that I've created in another instance of Visual Studio, every time I rebuild the component I have to shutdown and restart BIDS and then reattach to the BIDS process. Which is pretty time consuming... And if I find a small error in my custom component when debugging then I don't seem to be allowed to make any changes to the code unless I stop debugging and go through the process above.
Am I missing something here? Or do I really have to manually go through these steps every time I want to change code in the component I'm debugging?
Can I automate the process with MSBuild or NAnt? If so, is there an example of this anywhere?
In my machine i am unable to open .sql files. I am trying to open . Sql files it gives error message Windows can't find program.exe. This program is needed for openings files of type"SQL script file"
Any body tell me which file i have to install. Thanks
I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and now I can't connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 nor 2014 Express. The logs on both say it can't open master.mdf because it was originally formatted with a sector size 4096 but now it's 3072. But no sector sizes were changed. The only thing that changed was going from Windows 7 (64-bit) to Windows 10 (64-bit). How can this be resolved?
I was using Windows 7 and had SSRS 2014 installed.Having set up the inbound rule on Windows Firewall (port 80), to allow SSRS through, I was able to browse to the Report Manager URL, by opening up Internet Explorer as 'Administrator'..
However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 10, I am unable to open the URL.In fact there is now way for me to open Edge as administrator and open my Report Manager URL.
My Web Host does not provide administrative privilages to the SQL server I have access to. I would like to delete tens of thousands of records from two of my tables without writing to the Transaction Log. Is what I'm trying to do is delete these records quickly without utilizing any of the alotted space my web host has set aside for my transaction log (they give me 50 mb and I go way over that when I run a DELETE statement)
Is there a way to determine what application or who might be creating numerous tables in the tempdb. I have one that has grown yet the sp_spaceused command shows the majority of the database empty.
I need to determine where they are coming from and how I can delete them short of stopping and starting the SQL services before it uses up all of my HD.
I've a slight problem with configuring my Report Server. I have set up everything apart from the initialisation and and the Windows Service Identity, however when I select the panel for the latter I am presented with a message box displaying the following:
" Reporting Services Configuration Manager:
There was an error while switching panels. The most likely cause is an error retreiving WMI properties. The exception details are:
InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'.
Parameter name: SelectedIndex "
I have tried re-installing the entire SQL server setup and this made no difference, I followed this by removing then reinstalling just the Report Service. Still nothing.
Any ideas as to what it is doing and how I should go about fixing it?
We are trying to attach a database in Sql Server 2005 Express on Windows Vista. It will Show the following Error.
"Unable to open the physical file "Test.mdf". Operating system error 5 :". And then we installed the SQL Server 2005 Service pack 2. This error again comes.Could you please give me the steps to resolve the problem.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a script that incorporates sp_addlogin, which allows for adding 200 sql authentication logins from an excel spreadsheet, or a temporary sql table with the id info, containing the username, password, and def db?
I'm trying to avoid adding each new login one by one. EXEC sp_addlogin 'username', 'password', 'default database'Thanks, BPH
What is a more efficient way of doing the following such that DATEDIFF() does not have to calculated numerous times?
CASE Â WHEN DATEDIFF(DD, @Today, COALESCE(POS.[PurchaseDate], POS.[FinalizedDate])) <= 0 THEN '<= 0D' Â WHEN DATEDIFF(DD, @Today, COALESCE(POS.[PurchaseDate], POS.[FinalizedDate])) > 0 AND DATEDIFF(DD, @Today, COALESCE(POS.[PurchaseDate], POS.[FinalizedDate])) <= 7 THEN '> 0D AND <= 7D' Â WHEN DATEDIFF(DD, @Today, COALESCE(POS.[PurchaseDate], POS.[FinalizedDate])) > 7 AND DATEDIFF(DD, @Today, COALESCE(POS.[PurchaseDate], POS.[FinalizedDate])) <= 30 THEN '> 7D AND <= 30D' Â [code]....
I am new to Sql Server [Express version] and am not even sure I'm making the right choice. So here I am, seeking advice.
My database needs are nothing sophisticated. They just involve: (a) create tens of thousands of separate data files each under a unique file name of up to 8 characters, with file names read in from a pre-determined file name list. (b) store/insert VOLUMINOUS numerical data into each of the data files, with the data indexed by date&time, plus maybe one or two additional character or string fields. (c) for each data file, retrieve a subset of its data, perform extensive numerical calculations, and then store the results in one or more separate corresponding files, e.g. if a file name in (b) is F12345, (c) creates F12345R1, F12345R2, F12345R3, etc. which stores different sets of calculated results.
Thus, this is purely a console application, doing a batch job, and requiring no graphical user interface. Both automation and speed are important here, due to the large number of data files that must be created and/or updated, and the very extensive numerical calculations on the data.
The goal is to automate the daily or weekly creation of each of the tens of thousands of Sql Server database files, insert fresh data (read in from a fresh ASCII file) into each file, numerically process the data and then store the results in one or more separate, corresponding result data files, with all the steps automated and without need for GUI. Once coding is done, the entire data processing session is expected to run for many hours, or even days, in an automated manner, and without human intervention.
What would be the most efficient way of doing this under Visual Basic Express (which is what I'm learning to use) by directly calling Sql Server Express without having to go through GUI to create database files? What is the proper interface utility or library to use to enable direct database function calls without the need to learn SQL language? Is Visual Basic and/or Sql Server even good choices for what I want to do? I want to be able to call the basic, simple database functions directly and simply from program code in a non-GUI, non-interactive manner for the tens of thousands of separate data files that will be used.
I really miss the good old days when one can do a straightforward batch job via a console application, with simple, direct calls to create new data files, insert and index fresh data, retrieve any subset of data to do extensive calculations, create new files to store the results, etc. all under automated program control and iterating through unlimited number of data files, until the job is finished, all without human intervention during processing.
Or am I missing something because all this can still be done simply and easily under VB and Sql Server? I've several books here about Visual Basic 2005 and Visual Basic 2005 Express, all showing how to create a database via a GUI utility. That's fine if one needs to create just one or two databases, but not hundreds, or even tens of thousands (as in my case) of them on the fly.
So, I am looking for the simplest and most direct database interface that will allow me to do the above under VB program code alone, and easily. For something as simple as I have described above, I don't think I should have to learn the SQL language or manually create each database file.
As you can see, I just want to get some heavy duty numerical processing job done over tens of thousands of data files as simply and efficiently as possible, and with as little fanciful detour as possible. So, ironically, I am trying to use Visual Basic without being cluttered by having to learn its "Visual" aspects, yet GUI is what most VB books devote to or emphasize heavily. Similarly, I would much rather use simple, "lean and mean", direct database function calls than having to learn a new vocabulary of "English-like" SQL language.
Yes, I'm not used to this tedious detour of learning the GUI aspect of VB, or learning the Structured Query Language of Sql Server, just to try to do something simple that I need to do in batch mode via a console application.
Are there any good books or other helpful URLs that will help a guy like me? Am I even using the wrong language and the wrong database to do what I want to do? What are the better alternatives, if any? Any advice, experience and pointers on any of the above issues raised would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
I have a table that has company id, attachment file name, folderexists columns.
First what I need to do is create a series of folder or directories on a networked server using the company id as the folder name where the folder name does not already exist.
Second I need to move files based on attachment file name and company id to the proper folder.
For those who want to know, this is a remediation project because of a bug in our application.
The application is supposed to created the folder based on company id and then put the attachment in that folder.
I get the below error only when my IDE open. It connects well when it is found closed. [SqlException (0x80131904): Cannot open user default database. Login failed.Login failed for user 'JPASPNET'.] I could solve this by giving the logged in windows user to impersonate under IIS window > WEBSITE > ASP.NET tab > EDIT CONFIG > APPLICATION tab But I wish someone could give me the proper solution. I almost tried all from giving ASPNET user as a administrator to configuring the same in Express management tool. Environment: XP pro, VWD and SQL Express
I got an approach like that: 1) Read something from DB - check the value, if true stop if false go on2) Read the second Value (another SQL Statement) - check the value etc. Now I could open the connection at 1) and if I have to go to 2) I leave the connection open and use the same connection at 2). Is it ok to do that? The other scenario would be opening a connection at 1), immediately close it after I read the value and open a new connection at 2). Thanks for the input!
Post installation of SQL Server 2014 Express edition, I am able to connect to the Database Instance.
But while opening a new query window in SSMS or opening a table getting the error:
Package 'RadLangSvc.Package, RadLangSvc, Version 12.0.0.0, Culture=Neutral, Public Token=89845dcd8080cc91' failed to load
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. (mscorlib)..Have already tried installing the componentsDACProjectSystemSetup_enu.msi, TSql LanguageService_enu.msi, DACFramework_enu.msi from path VS 2010 WCU DAC.
I am attempting to write a Windows service that watches a database for uploaded files to import. When a new file is found, the corresponding SSIS package is run from the file system with variables passed through. I started development as a Windows app and copied the functionality to a service.
The app runs fine. The service does not. I get a "Failure" each time a package is executed. Everything is identical behind the scenes with the obvious exceptions that OnStart and OnStop handlers are buttons in the app. I added a script task at the beginning of one of the SSIS packages to notify me that it is even running at all. It doesn't even hit that initial task.
Again, the app will run all packages just fine. The data is imported and the results return as "Success."
The following is the code executing the package. Any help is appreciated. I've been banging my head on this one for a few days now. (Is there a tag to format a code sample?)
Dim pkgLocation As String Dim pkg As New Package Dim app As New Application Dim pkgResults As DTSExecResult
I just upgraded from Windows XP Pro to Windows Vista Bussiness and tried to reinstall SQL Server 2005 Developers Edition. After the installation i downloaded (using microsoft windows update) and installed all the service packs for sql and vista available.
My problem is when i open sql server management studio and try to connect to my default instance using windows authentication and database engine, an 18456 error occurs.
I enabled all the protocols and all the ports I disabled windows firewall and antivirus (eset nod32) I installed all service packs available I have also installed Visual Studio 2005 without installing sqlexpress
But nothing happens!
Please i am very desperate, any information will be gratefully accepted.

Hi all,I have a Windows 2003 server, which is also a terminal server forapplication, with sql 2000 installed. My company has developed anapplication that uses SQL 2000 as its database. The application is aclient/server one. In each client computer there's a link to theapplication on the server. There is no problem with Windows 98,Windows 2000 pro, Windows xp pro clients, but the windows 95 onescannot log in to the database. The log of the application shows thefollowing error:connection error -2147467259. Cannot open database requested in login'database name'. Login fails.Till a week ago the application was running on a Windows 2000 serverwith SQL 2000 install and the W95 clients had no problem connecting tothe database, so my guess is the error has something to do withWindows 2003 server, but what'causing the error?I tried to install a newer version of MDAC (MDAC 2.5, the last versionof MDAC you can install on W95)but with no success. By the way W95clients have no problem accessing shared folder on the Windows 2003server.Any idea?ThanksMarino
I need to step into a SP on my SQL server. However, I get "Security hasn't been setup correctly on server RADU. SQL debugging terminated."
I read the docs, and I did exactly this (as per the help files):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To configure DCOM on the server for SQL debugging
You may need to download and install DCOM first. If so, go to http://www.microsoft.com/com/resources/downloads.asp for the latest version.
You must have administrator privileges on the machine where you are configuring DCOM.
From the Start menu, choose Run. In the Open box, type dcomcnfg.exe. Click OK. The Component Services dialog box appears.
In the left pane of the Component Services dialog box, expand the Component Services node and find Computers. Expand the Computers node and find the computer for which you want to configure DCOM. Right-click the computer and choose Properties from the shortcut menu. In the Properties dialog box, select the Default COM Security tab. Under Access Permissions, click Edit Default. The Access Permission dialog box appears.
If the group or user who needs access does not appear in the list of permissions, click Add. The Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box appears.
In the Enter the object names to select box, type the name of the group or user who needs access. Click OK. The user is now added to the list.
If SYSTEM does not appear in the list of permissions, click Add. The Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box appears.
In the Enter the object names to select box, type: SYSTEM Click OK. SYSTEM is now added to the list.
In the Access Permission, select Allow for each user you added. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box. If you changed any settings in this procedure, restart SQL Server. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, from inside VSnet IDE. I get the same message ("Security hasn't been setup correctly blah-blah-blah").
I have tried with users 'ASPNet' and 'VSDevelopers'. Which user should I choose ? Is there something else I should do ?
Sure, this is not the end of the world, I can still do the debug from within Query Analyzer, but still, it would be nice not to have to do this.
Does anyone use SQL debugging? I write pocedures in SQL server useing Developper studio, but i do not find any means to debug stored procedures. Though i can place a break point to source code of sp_procedure, code is runned a whole. Is this means only for C++? Can anyone help me? I have very large procedures and someteimes it is hard to find an error.

In SQLServer 2000 I could easily debug a stored procedure from QA. But I dont know how to debug a sp in SQLServer 2005. I could find nothing to deal with it in SQL Server Management Studio. Can anybody tell me how to do it?

My colleagues and I have not been able to successfully set up SQL debugging on a SQL 2000 instance running on Windows 2000.Is there a checklist posted somewhere? We have verified that the SQL Server is not running with System Account Credentials. It runs as a Domain Administrator. We have also verified that everyone has permission to run sp_sdidebug. Does it matter that the Win2K machine is a Domain Controller? Any help would be appreciated.
I am new to SSIS but not new to ETL. Is there a way in debugger to debug but not actually update the target table ? In other tools I€™ve used, there was an option setting to not allow update/inserts into the actual table, but would provide a visual dataset so you could see & test with. I haven€™t been able to find this feature in SSIS & was wondering if there is a way to do this.
