We are having problems with datetime fields in our database where the seconds of the field are being cut off ...

They are not being stored ... they just show as ":00.000" in the data ...
it did come from our app as ex. ":07.346"

Any help would be appriciated,

Connect To SqlServer 2005 With Odbc

Hi all,
I'm not a db guru and probably this is a very simple question for you, but I was wondering if it was possible to connect to a SqlServer using odbc without DSN.
I mean, I'm trying to connect to the db server from a linux (Fedora Core 8) workstation, using odbc drivers, but it looks like I can do that only using a DSN connection and setting properly the odbc.ini file. It doesn't work, if I use a connection like this from a PHP script:
$cn = odbc_connect("Driver={SQL Server};Server=MyServer;Database=MyDatabase",
"MyUser","MyPassword")
Does anyone know how to connect to SqlServer with a DSN-less connection? Could you explain me where is the error?

I'm using SQLServer2005, Fedora Core 8 with the last FreeTDS installed.

Please help!

Hi,On one side, I have a Sybase 12.5 32 bits Server running on AIX 5.1(maintenance level 3). On the other, I've got W2000 5.00.2195 (SP2)with SQL Server Standard Edition, Product Version 8.00.534 (SP2),having installed MDAC 2.6.I connect to the Sybase 12.5 database using Merant ASE ODBC driver forSybase 12.5, and using the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Serverthat comes with this SQLServer version.I try to pump over data from Sybase to SQLServer to one table at aSQLServer user database, using a package containing a select statementon a View on the Sybase Server side, using an ODBC 12.5 System DSNpointing to the Sybase server. All privileges are set correctly oneither side and the ODBC datasource test gives an 'OK' on trying toreach the Sybase Server.When I do PREVIEW, I get a resultset alright, however, when I actuallyrun the package as a scheduled job, its keeps on running infinitelyuntil manually killed. No data at all is inserted in the the SQLServertable.Strange thing is, the same processes is running without anycomplications on a W2000 5.00.2195 (SP3), MDAC 2.7 system, with thesame SQLServer connecting to the same Sybase Server but using MerantASE ODBC 12.0 instead of ODBC 12.5.How come?Any help will be greatly appreciated.Martijn Rutte

I am using SSIS 2014 with the below .net framework version and installed in Windows server 2012 R2 . I have installed my client's odbc drivers (both 32 bit and 64 bit) in my production server and created ODBC system DSNs for 32 bit and 64 bit.

When i open SSIS 2014 and tried to create the odbc connection but i can able to see only the 32 bit system DSN connection ,i can't able to see my 64 bit odbc system dsn connection.

How Can I Use Create Or Alter Statements With ODBC And Microsoft Access ODBC Driver (*mdb)?

Hi,



I am using VB.NET 2005 and set up an ODBC connection via ODBC.ODBCConnection to a MDB database. Therefor, I use the "Microsoft Access ODBC Driver (*.mdb)".



When I set up a ODBCCommand like "ALTER DATABASE..." or "CREATE TABLE..." and issue it with the com.ExecuteNonQuery() command, I get an error from ODBC driver, that a SQL statement has to begin with SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE.



How can I use DDL statements via ODBC?



I would appreciate if you could help me to use ODBC for that - no OLE, no ADO.

I apologize if this is not the correct forum for this posting. Looking at the descriptions, it appeared to be the best choice.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. I have installed the SQL Native Client for
XP. However, when I try to add a new data source through ODBC Connection
Manager, SQL Native Client is not listed as an option. I have followed this procedure on three other systems with no problems. What would be causing the
SQL Native Client to not show up in the list of available ODBC data sources?

Class Method Is Smoking Fast When Executed Outside Of SQLServer, Dog Slow As A CLR Function Is SQLServer - Anyone?

We have a static class that makes an HTTPWebRequest to get XML data from one of our vendors. We use this as input to a stored proc in SQLServer2005. When I compile this class and call it from a console application in visual studio it executes in milliseconds, everytime. When I compile it, create the assembly and clr function and execute it in SQLServer, it takes around 14 seconds to execute the first time, then on subsequent requests it is again really fast, until I wait for 10 seconds and re-execute, once again it is slow the first time and then fast on subsequent requests. We do not see this behavior when executing outside SQLServer. Makes me think that some sort of authentication is perhaps taking place the first time the function is run in SQLServer? I have no idea how to debug this further. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas?

Problem Unicode Data 0x2300 In SQLServer 2000 SQLServer 2005 Express

Hi experts;
I have a problem with unicode character 0x2300
I created this table
create table testunicode (Bez nchar(128))

Insert Data
insert into testunicode (Bez)values('Œ€„¢')
with 2 Unicode characters
Œ€ = 0x2300
„¢ = 0x2122

Selecting the data
select Bez from testunicode
I see
"?„¢"

„¢ = 0x2122 is ok but instead of 0x2300 there is 0x3f

When I modify the insert statement like that ( 8960 = 0x2300 )
insert into testunicode (Bez)values(NCHAR(8960)+'„¢')

and select again voila i see
"Œ€„¢"
Does anyone have an idea?

Trying To 'load' A Copy Of A SQLServer 2000 Database To SQLServer 2005 Express

I am trying to 'load' a copy of a SQLServer 2000 database to SQLServer 2005 Express (on another host). The copy was provided by someone else - it came to me as a MDF file only, no LDF file.

I have tried to Attach the database and it fails with a failure to load the LDF. Is there any way to bypass this issue without the LDF or do I have to have that?

The provider of the database says I can create a new database and just point to the MDF as the data source but I can't seem to find a way to do that? I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Replacing Sqlserver 2000 With Sqlserver 2005 Express

I have an app that uses a sqlserver 2000 jdbc driver to connect to a sqlserver 2000.

Is it possible to do a direct replacement of sqlserver 2000 with sqlserver 2005 express just by reconfiguring the app to point to the express? The app would still be using the sqlserver 2000 jdbc driver to try and make the connection.

If that is a possibility, what can be some differences in the configuration? Previously with 2000 the config information I entered is:

server name: "machinename"( or ip). I've also tried "machiname/SQLEXPRESS"

DB name: name of db instance

port: 1433(default)

user and pass.

My attempts so far results in

"java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Error establishing socket."

and

I am in the process of planning a server upgrade to sql2005 x64.

I created 2 linked servers: one to a SQL2000 sp4 server and one to a SQL7.0 SP3.

I have the following error when I query the linked servers.
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K" returned message "Unspecified error".
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K" returned message "The stored procedure required to complete this operation could not be found on the server. Please contact your system administrator.".
Msg 7311, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES_INFO" for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "IVDM2K". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used.

I am aware of KB 906954.

I applied the instcat.sql on the SQL2000SP4 server and my linked server issues for that one are gone.

However, I ran the instcat.sql script on the SQL7.0 sp3 server and the linked server is still giving me an issue.

I need to Import Data TblShift from Access to SQLServer €“ using DTS I€™ve done this successfully!

Now I want to use parameter so I only importing record within range (e.g. ShiftDate BETWEEN 05-24-2006 AND 06-23-2006)

In SQLServer, I have created table to store the date range as following:

DateFrom: 04/24/2006
DateTo: 05/23/2006

How do I use the date range from TblParameter(SQLServer) to import record from TblShift(Access) using DTS?

Is this possible or any better solution for this?

Hi,
I am new to SQL Server 2005. I tried connecting to my local machine by using my machine name as Server name and then tried running the following query:
SELECT * FROM SYS.Objects. It gives me following error:
Invalid object name 'sys.objects'.

Whereas, if I connect to my local machine using mahcinenameSQLEXPRESS, then the above mentioned query runs fine.

Why is this difference? What is the difference when I login in these 2 different ways.
Any help would be appreciated.

Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).

HeyI have developed a asp.net 2 system on my local machine using a local sql2000 server.Now i'm trying to deploy it to a windows 2003 server, using a sql2000 server on another windows 2003 server. I thought the only thing i had to do was to create a ODBC connection to the sql server, and change the connectionstring. But no :)
What kind of changes do i need to do. Do i need to change the dataprovider.
I get this error:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to sql Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings sql Server does not allow remote connections. (Provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to sql server)
But i don't use a sql 2005 server.

I can set up the same datasource and connect to it on some machines but then
on some others I get the above error.
This is an orcale connection so there is no way to test it until I actually try to connect. I understand it might be a problem
with WINS (resolving computer name to IP address. I do not know much about
WINS, can someone tell me how to check WINS to see if this is my problem?

I was wondering if anyone out there can help out. Anytime I run Query Analyzer I get the following error messages:
(SQL Server Query Analyzer requires ODBC Driver version 3.7 or greater and ODBC Driver Manager version 3.5 or greater. Incompatible versions of odbc32.dll and/ or sqlsrv32.dll are installed on this machine. Are you sure you want to use SQL Server Query Analyzer?) After checking the web site the only version I came acrossed was ODBC version 2.65.0240 and I need version 3.7 or greater, can anyone tell me what to do now?

16 Bit ODBC To SQL 7

Has anyone connected from Access 2 16 bit ODBC to SQL Server 7??
I have not seen 16 bit ODBC Drivers. SQL 6.0 and 6.5 came with 16 bit drivers.
PS: Phase one is to convert Access 2.0 to use SQL followed by phase to goto Access 2000.
