OLEDB Error While Trying To Import MDB Data Into SQL 2005

Hello,
I am getting an error while trying to import data into SQL 2005 from an existing Access MDB database. When I try this on another workstation there are no problems and the data is imported successfully.
Could someone tell me what to look for or what setting I have incorrect. On the workstation with the problem I had removed SQL 2000 Personal Edition and installed SQL 2005 Standard Edition. Also, I have both Visual 2003 and 2005 installed on this workstation as well.

i want to import data from an excel sheet into a database. While reading from the excel sheet OleDb automatically guesses the Datatype of each column. My Problem is the first A Column which contains ~240 Lines. 210 Lines are Numbers, the latter 30 do contain strings. When i use this code:

it will continue to read the stuff till the String-Lines are coming. when using Item(0), it just crashes for trying to convert a DBNull to a String, when using rdr(0).ToString() it just gives me no value.
So my question is how to tell OleDB that i want that column to be completly read as String/Varchar?

I have one column in SQL Server 2005 of data type VARCHAR(4000).
I have imported sql Server 2005 database data into one mdb file.After importing a data into the mdb file, above column data type converted into the memo type in the Access database.
now when I am trying to import a data from this MS Access File(db1.mdb) into the another SQL Server 2005 database, got the error of Unicode Converting a memo data type conversion in Export/Import data wizard.
Could you please let me know what is the reason?
I know that memo data type does not supported into the SQl Server 2005.
I am with SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition with SP2.

Hi there I am importing data from a database on one server to the same database (exactly the same table structure etc) on another server. I am specifying the data from certain tables on the source database which are completely empty on the destination database. The tables on the destination database each have a primary key column (Identity Specification = YES, Is Identity = YES, Identity Increment = 1, Identity Seed = 1, Not for Replication = YES). The import fails on the first table (YvGroup) whose primary key, "GroupID", is the foreign key within other tables (Relationship is set). The error i'm getting is as follows: Error 0xc0202049: Data Flow Task: Failure inserting into the read-only column "GroupID". (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) Error 0xc0202045: Data Flow Task: Column metadata validation failed. Inside SSIS's Dataflow task, i'm getting data using ODBC connection(in DataReader Source) for an iSeries library and trying to insert that into DB2 database (using OLEDB destination ). Mappings etc work absolutely fine,but on execution get error as given below:
How do i resolve this error and load data in DB2 , Need help at the earliest.

I got an error when i do an OLE db Source pointing to an sql 2000 database and executing a sql query inside the OLE Source. The ole source will point to an OLE DB destination which is an sql 2005 database.
But i got the below error:

I am trying to execute a SP like below in OLEDB source in data flow... and this statement include the insert stament ( row by row transaction).. I would like to creat an error hadling logic so that if the trasaction fail to insert the row then ignore that particular row then, move to the next row without stopping the whole process.. how can i do this?

I am trying to import Access reports using Visual Studio 2005 and Access 2007. SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services is also installed. I select Reports in the Solution Explorer and then Import Reports... Microsoft Access and browse to my Access database. After I select the database I see it open briefly as if it is trying to import the reports but then Access quickly closes and a error pops up: "You already have the database open." I have checked and double checked and the database is not open. I have even tried several different databases and the same errror occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have SSMSexpress which does not include the Tasks/Import Data...Is there an easy way to do this without the full SSMS?I have SQL Server 2005 express for developement which I like alot. Can I possibly load SSMS without installing the entire SQL Server 2005 product? PS I am almost a complete idiot with SQL Server DBs and I use Visual Basic, not C# thanksMilton
I'm using SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express, and trying to import data from an Excel spreadsheet into a new table. I'm used to doing this through Enterprise Manager in SQL Server 2000, but I'm not sure how to do it in the new interface. Is there a way to do a simple data import without also installing Business Intelligence Development Studio?
I am trying to import data from our as/400 to SQL server. We have a new server with SQL 2005, data is restored so now I am trying to convert our DTS over to SSIS but I can's seem to get a connection set up that will talk with our as/400. One note on our current sql 2000 I have no issues. Our sql 2005 is 64 bit, not sure if it makes a difference but thought I would mention it.
I am trying to set up connections so I can copy data from as/400 to sql 2005. I have a DNS set up on server called IPTSFIL which point to library iptsfil. I then need to create my source. There is no longer an ODBC option so I am trying ole db source. I created a connection but it€™s not working. In the connection there is a data link if I click on that I can point it to my DSN (IPTSFIL). But when I try to test it then thinks server name is IPTSFIL which is not the case and so it comes back with a port error due to that not being the system name. What am i doing wrong?
I read some people use data reader but I don't understand how to config that. Any input on how to help me get this working either using ole db or datareader would be appreciated.
I did test a client access session on server and I connect just fine. Also if I do a cwbping everything comes back sucessful.
I have a client who we moved to our new web server and sql 2005 server from a sql 2000 server. I detached the database from sql 2000 and attached it to 2005. I also just set the compatibility to 2005 also.
My client used enterprise manager to import data into the tables on the sql 2000 just fine. Now using the SQL Management Studio, importing the same table produces all kinds of error, truncation errors, etc.
I have played with a bunch of the settings, did the "Suggest Types" options, but I still just get a bunch of errors. It seem to get it to work I have to go in on the columns of the flat file i am importing and change EVERY COLUMN field to match the table i'm importing too. That is just too much work.
I basically have a 2 record text file i easily imported to sql 2000. but importing into sql 2005 proves to be a *** load of work! Aren't products supposed to get better with future releases? What am I doing wrong?
I've tried the sql native client and the oledb sqlserver client and get the same results.
have tried to import data from a big (257Mb, I has about 1.000.000) flat file into a table, inside SSIS. The process doesn’t work correctly. It stops in the same register (about 179.000). I have reviewed the process and have opened the file making it shorter (about 150.000 lines, including the line that before seems to break the process), and it works. Making the file longer it breaks the process again.
The error showed by the program:

I am attempting to import an excel sheet to SQL and keep coming up with the following error:
Error during transformation ... row number 29 TransformCopy conversion error: Destination does not allow null Source column 'ProductID' (DBTYPE_R8), Destination column 'ProductID' (DBTYPE_STR)
When I look at row 29, the ProductID is '1240000A' and not NULL. All prior ProductID's had no Alpha characters ans appeared as 7 digits eg. '1240000'. I Previewed the data before the transformation and for some reason the ProductID '1240000A' appears as NULL, even though the Excel Sheet has the value '1240000A' entered. Help would be appreciated. I have a remote database which I need to make a local copy of. I have sucessfully scripted the db and created it locally. however I cannot import the data to the local server. I get this error:

i think i am doing everything ok but it still wont work.dbo.xxx beacause its being referenced by a foreign key constraint.
In 2000 i could import and select all objects and get the indexes as well but with 2005 i dont seem to be able to find any such option. how do i import data and get the indexes as well?
I am trying to import one table from postgreSQL to SQL Server 2005 using sql server import and export wizard. When i test the connection after providing data source, location, username, password in the Data Link Properties section I get the message "Test Connection Succeeded". Hi I have to import data from a number of excel files to corresponding tables in SQL 2005. The excel files are created using excel 4.0. I have created an excel connection manager and provided it with the path of the excel sheet.Next i have added an excel source from the toolbox to the dataflow. I have set the connection manger, data access mode, and the name of the excel sheet (the wizard detects the sheet correctly) in the dialog window i get when i double click the excel source. Every thing goes fine till here. An SSIS package to transfer data from a DB instance on SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2000 is extremely slow. The package uses an OLEDB Source to OLEDB Destination for data transfer which is basically one table from sql server 2005 to sql server 2000. The job takes 5 minutes to transfer about 400 rows at night when there is very little activity on the server. During the day the job almost always times out.
On SQL Server 200 instances the job ran in minutes in the old 2000 package.
Is there an alternative to this. Tranfer Objects task does not work as there is apparently a defect according to Microsoft. Please let me know if there is any other option other than using a Execute 2000 package task or using an ActiveX Script to read records from one source and to insert them into the destination source, which I am not certain how long it might take and how viable will that be?
I am trying to use DTC to import about 500 records from an Excelsheet to an SQL database.
Some fields contain strings with a length of about 1700 characters.
When i'm trying to execute the DTC generated code it is giving an error and saying that the maximum string length of 255 has been reached. Althoug the column in the database is defined as nchar(1750).
Error 0xc0202055: Data Flow Task: The column delimiter for column "Column x" was not found.
I would like to have the import continue., even the error occur. I have the error output to ignore, but doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestion on what to do next, or how to skip the row that create the problem.
