Hi all, this is REALLY weird, I can t seem to make heads or tails of it. but from my understanding the each datatype has set contrstraint assigned to it ( example int datatype can only except non-decimal numeric values ) as well as a datetime datatype can only except a vaild date.
Though oddly i have found the following dates in a table ( in addtion the when aby kind of data operation is performed on the table sql returns the following error:
Server: Msg 8630, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Internal Query Processor Error: The query processor encountered an unexpected error during execution.
Here are some of the dates that were present in the table:
DateColumn1
-----------
1900-01-01 857:44:45.813
1900-01-01 872:51:16.427
1900-01-01 872:54:57.440
1900-01-01 873:09:32.107
1900-01-01 873:13:10.560
1900-01-01 873:16:49.867
1900-01-01 888:27:00.640
I would like to return the nearest date of Table B in my table like for
ID W001 in table B should return ID A002 CreatedDatetime: 2014-06-03 20:05:48.000 ID W002 in table B should return ID A004 CreatedDatetime: 2014-06-04 01:05:48.000
Hi all, First post on THIS forum...so be kind (I have my nomex suite on anyway, and am flameproof, but STILL!)
I have a table that consists of a bunch-o-gibberish, but essentially looks like this (for the sake of discussion):
PK RecID int PK StartDate smalldatetime PK EndDate smalldatetime Gibberish_1 varchar(zillions and zillions) Gibberish_2 int
OK, my query (get it? *LOL* I kill me) is this:
My PK date range is essentially a range indicating a "validity date range" or in other words - "this record applys to dates from StartDate to EndDate".
If I insert a new row, that I want to be "valid" from today on into the forseeable future. I'm thinking I would enter it with StartDate = today, and would like to figure out a good "MAXDATE" type value to put in the EndDate column so that:
1) I can find a record using a single date (i.e., the current date) and find the validation record (as defined above) - - - I'm not concerned about this part of the question, as I can build the simple query to do so).
2) NOT have to keep adjusting the EndDate to keep it ahead of the current date so that the query into the range will work.
Essentially, my question is this: What is a good value to put in the EndDate to mean "infinity" - - that will still work when I query using a single date designed to find the validation record with a range that includes it?
My boss suggested something like "January 1, 2040", but this bothers me, since my kids may be working here then  and I don't want to have to force them into a Y2K-like issue where they now have to go adjust all the "maxdate" values. Anythoughts or conventions that I am unaware of here?
I'm reviewing a data warehouse design schema for a client that is following Kimball's data warehousing principles. One of the first things I noticed was a table of dates with expanded columns giving such information as the year, month, month name, fiscal year, quarter, etc for each date, They also have a surrogate key (int) for the date value. The fact tables store the surrogate key rather than the date value itself. They were very surprised when I questioned the purpose of this table, assuring me that Kimball was very strong on the concept of having a date dimension for each table. I don't see the purpose of a table containing nothing by derived date formats. I think they will get a bigger performance hit from having to link through the surrogate key than they would suffer from having to convert datevalues stored in the fact tables. Has anybody else ever seen this before? Does Kimball really advise this?
Hi all, I'm trying to create a temporary table with one of the columns with a datetime datatype. Sql server 7.0 is giving me an error: Error 195 date is not a recognized function name. Example of my create table looks something like this: create table #temp_table(column_one int, column_two(15,2), Column_three datetime)
I have a DTS package that has two steps. The first steps executes a sql statement that selects data into a temporary table. The next step emails the results of a "select * from #mytable" to me. I ran the job today and did not get an email from it. So, I then copied both statements to Query Analyzer and ran them in the same window. The SELECT query ran fine but the xpsendmail part gave me an error that #mytable does not exist.
This is my query
drop table #update_status select col1,col2,col3 into #update_status from mydb.mytable
go
EXEC master..xp_sendmail @recipients = 'fkearney', @query = 'select * from #update_status', @subject = 'status updated', @message = 'These records had a status update:', @attach_results = 'TRUE', @width = 250
FirstName | LastName | DateofBirth ---------------------------------------- Thomas | Alva Edison | 10-10-2015 Benjamin | Franklin | 10-10-2015 Thomas | More | 11-10-2015 Thomas | Jefferson | 12-10-2015
Suppose today's date is 09-10-2015 in (dd-MM-yyyy format), I want to perform a query in such a way that I should get the data from the table above WHERE DateofBirth is tomorrow, so I could get the following result.
FirstName | LastName | DateofBirth ---------------------------------------- Thomas | Alva Edison | 10-10-2015 Benjamin | Franklin | 10-10-2015
How do I pass back only one value, such as TotalJobPrice from the tblJobRecords when I know which JobID to Select. All I want is the TotalJobPrice returned from the UDF, not a record from the table. I can write a UDF that will return a table, but I don't know how to get the one field of data from that table of one row that can be returned from a UDF that returns a table. I want to be able to write something like this: @TotalJobPrice = fnTotalJobPrice(@JobID) Hope that is clear. Thanks in advance,
Hi there, I am trying to use the new ListView control in VS2008 in an ASP.Net app. My problem starts already with the datasource. I drag and drop a SqlDataSource and select Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 (.NET Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5) I can connect to the database and test the query in the wizard (I do not need to use a password??) This is the webconfig entry <add name="ConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server Compact Editionv3.5SamplesNorthwind.sdf" providerName="Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.3.5"/> I add the following line in the page load event AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetData("SQLServerCompactEditionUnderWebHosting", true); However I get the error message that the data provider cannot be found and it might not be installed. I added the reference and also gave the folder above ASP.NET full access rights. Anyone else encountered this problem. It is quiet strange? Thanks a lot for your help. Cheers, Chris
Im developing an asp website, but im getting this error:
Code Snippet
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified /default.asp, line 76
I have 2 servers, the website is running from RACS-IIS-001, and the SQL server is from: RACS-SQL-001
I dont know if i use the wrong driver? im useing SQL Native Client This is my connection string:
The following error is encountered when importing a delimited flat file with date of fomat "dd.mm.yyyy"
Error: 0xC02020A1 at Data Flow Task, Source - DCDtest_xpt [1]: Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "value date" returned status value 2 and status text "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".
This was when I manually built the package.
I get the same error when using the Import/Export wizard
I am even using the "suggest types" button and have tried sampling the default number of rows (?200) and also 2000.
The type it suggests is DT_DATE.
But reading the BOL, this would appear to be the wrong type:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141036.aspx (obviously the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing)
seems to indicate that
DT_DBTIMESTAMP
is the correct value
(I cannot believe that they have different datatypes in SSIS than in SQL. I can't believe for a minute this is for all the hundreds of thousands of Oracle users who obviously switched to SSIS when they saw what a high quality product it is.)
I tried other DT_... values but no dice.
Can anyone help?
I always thought that Classic ASP was the worst product I've ever worked with from the Microsoft stable, but I was wrong.
I am fed up of having to post on this board (no wonder it is so 'popular')
Talking to peers, reading books, googling nearly always enables me to figure out a problem with any application I have ever used, but SSIS breaks the mould in sheer crapness and the weirdnes and unfathomability of its cryptic errors,.
I have some troubles getting done a lookup... data i get from a legacy system has to be cleaned up and split up into normalized form. i get invoice data and want to split up invoices into a separate table as customers. therefore i lookup if the customer of the current line is not already in my newly created customer-table. if it isn't there (error output of lookup transformation) i insert it into the customer-table.
The problem is that after the customer is inserted into the customer-table, it still is not found by the lookup transform because the lookup uses caching to hold the reference table (and so is the exact same customer inserted again and again and again). Is there any way to disable caching and let the lookup transformation do a select for every new row it gets? or at least refilling the cache if some event happens?
I have a procedure where I am inserting some elements into #Table and then finally get the datset I need. Now when I am using this procedure as dataset to my report, it throws up the following error:
Invalid object Name "#TEMP2".
The data that I retrieve is similar to the data that I get from this query in the post by Manivannan.D.Sekaran http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1871478&SiteID=1
Is it because my columns are generated on the fly that I am not able to retrieve the column headers appropriately. If so can someone suggest a way over to this?
I am not sure should I posting it here or in T-SQL Forum.
I renamed a database table, and then try to create a view with that table. However, the renamed table does not appear in view designer. I have to close and re-open SQL Server Management studio 2014.
Below is code that I have aquired from both the SQL6.5 Books online and a VB5 book. The problem is that when I run this code it returns back the error Method or data member not found. OK I have been to Projects References and made sure that both the Microsoft RemoteData object 2.0 and Remotedata control 2.0 where both included in my project.
The Remotedata control works great, however it does not allow me to Add data and Remove Data.
Am I missing a Reference file? Do I have the correct version of Remotedata objects?

I am running this on a development server and it fails, OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ZEZASQL" returned message "ORA-01403: no data found".but it runs fine and returns data on production? both servers are SQL Server 2008 R2. Could the version of Oracle have any baring? 11.02.00.01 vs 11.02.00.03
I have converted a access database to sql server 2000 for some reason i keep getting this error base table not found. I know the sql database is there and i also know the table is there. I'm not sure why i keep getting this error..
Given one table, Table1, with columns Key1 (int), Key2 (int), and Type (varchar)...
I would like to get the rows where Type is equal to 'TypeA' and Key2 is Null that do NOT have a corresponding row in the table where Type is equal to 'TypeB' and Key2 is equal to Key1 from another row
I would like to return only the row where Key1 = 4 because that row meets the criteria of Type='TypeA'/Key2=NULL and does not have a corresponding row with Type='TypeB'/Key1=Key2 from another row.
I have tried this and it doesn't work...
SELECT t1.Key1, t1.Key2, t1.Type FROM Table1 t1 WHERE t1.Key2 IS NULL AND t1.Type LIKE 'TypeA' AND t1.Key1 NOT IN (SELECT Key1 FROM Table1 t2 WHERE t1.Key1 = t2.Key2 AND t1.Key1 <> t2.Key1 AND t2.Type LIKE 'TypeB')
1) When I run a query Select * from MY_Table the query never completes. If I press cancel in Query Analyzer after 1 second or 2 minutes, it always shows the same 174 records. The total table size is 800 KB with 3148 rows .. according to TaskPad
2) No queries, even queries that would return only 1 record complete execution against that table
3) I am unable to rename the table, if I try to rename the table Enterprise Manager becomes unresponsive and has to be closed.
4) If I try to browse the rows through Enterprise manager by scrolling through the records, it allows me to go down through a number of rows and then Enterprise manager gives me a timeout expired error.
5) I ran a DBCC CheckDB command ran for 1 hr and 7 minutes. It says there are 0 allocation errors and 0 consistency errors in the database.
6) The other database tables seem to be OK and the Database is operational except for calls involving the 1 Table
I have this Stored Procedure: Create PROCEDURE ListEventas If MONTH(GetDate()) <= 6 Begin SELECT EventTitle, EventDuration, (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 1 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Jan', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 2 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Feb', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 3 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Mar', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 4 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Apr', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 5 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'May', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 6 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Jun'FROM dbo.tblEvent INNER JOIN dbo.tbl ON (tblEvent.EventID = tblEventdate.EventID)WHERE YEAR(StartDate) = Year(GetDate())group by EventTitle, EventDuration,StartDate,EndDateEnd Else BeginSELECT EventTitle, EventDuration,(CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 7 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Jul', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 8 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Aug', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 9 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Sep', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 10 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Oct', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 11 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Nov', (CASE WHEN MONTH(StartDate) = 12 THEN Datename(Day,StartDate) + ' - ' + Datename(Day,EndDate) ELSE '' END) AS 'Dec'FROM dbo.tblEvent INNER JOIN dbo.tbl ON (tblEvent.EventID = tblEventdate.EventID)WHERE YEAR(StartDate) = Year(GetDate())group by EventTitle, EventDuration,StartDate,EndDateEnd When I execute it in the SQLExpress, the result returned as expected. But when I bind to Gridview I got this error: A field or property with the name 'Jan' was not found on the selected data source. How do I solve this? I am using drag and drop SQLDatasource to call the Stored Proc and VB.net is the language. Thanks

Problem :
We have team of four people. We made one machine as database server and rest of the people trying to connect to that database server. we are getting error "SQL server not found.".
We are using following string as a connection string.
I am trying to get data from an Oracle view using an OLE DB data source and a "SQL Command". When I "preview" the data it looks fine, but when I execute the package I get the following error:

I have a custom folder layout for reporting services on our test environment so each tester can test the reports against the data in their own instances. The developers have reports in a different layout that's more in line with what will be in production. So I figured some simple RS scripting would handle things.
It was easy to create the folder structure, easy to create the shared data sources in each testers reports folders, and easy to deploy the report from the developers folder (source) to the testers report folders. However, when I try to use SetItemDataSources to change the data source in the newly duplicated reports, I keep getting an error telling me that the data source cannot be found.
Here's the relevant code fragment:
'Set report DataSource references
Dim DataSources(0) As DataSource
DataSources(0) = New DataSource
' update with new data source info
DataSources(0).Name = strDSName
Dim Item1 as DataSourceReference = New DataSourceReference
Item1.Reference = strRef
DataSources(0).Item = Item1
Console.WriteLine( "Setting report {0}, data source to {1}", strTargetReport, strRef)
strDSName is "OLTP", strRef is the path to the shared data source, "/Reports/Tester1/Data Sources/OLTP". strTargetReport is the name of the report itself, full path name to "/Reports/Tester1/Report1".
Each tester has their own folder off the main reports folder "Reports", with an incremental number, as in "Tester1". Each testers folder has it's own Data Sources folder. There is only one data source for all reports, "OLTP".
/Reports
/Reports/Tester1
/Reports/Tester1/Data Sources
/Reports/Tester1/Data Sources/OLTP
/Reports/Tester1/Report1
/Reports/Tester1/Report2
I even went into SQL Server Management Studio and tried changing the (now broken) data source setting for a report to point to the correct data source (OLTP), then copied the generated script, then ran it - and still got the data source cannot be found error. That's what my latest code shown above was based on.
Table A has columns CompressedProduct, Tool, Operation
Table B in a differnt database has columns ID, Product, Tool Operation
I cannot edit table A. I can select records from A and insert into B. And I can select only the records that are in both tables.
But I want to be able to select any records that are in table A but not in Table B.
ie. I want to select records from A where the combination of Product, Tool and Operaton does not appear in Table B, even if all 3 on their own do appear.
This code return all the records from A. I need to filter out the records found in Table B.
SELECT ID, CompressedProduct, oq.Tool, oq.Operation FROM OPENQUERY (Lisa_Link, 'SELECT DISTINCT CompressedProduct, Tool, Operation FROM tblToolStatus ts JOIN tblProduct p ON ts.ProductID = p.ProductID JOIN tblTool t ON ts.ToolID = t.ToolID JOIN tblOperation o ON ts.OperationID = o.OperationID WHERE ts.ToolID=66 ') oq LEFT JOIN Family f on oq.CompressedProduct = f.Product and oq.Tool = f.Tool and oq.Operation = f.Operation
I am testing an application that uses mysql that works 100% fine with Microsoft Windows XP on Windows Vista Premium Home Edition.
Using Vista's ODBC Data Source Administrator I have set up and successfuly tested the DSN Connection to the Database.
However, when I call the set up DSN with the application I get [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.
I am using the mysql-connector-odbc-3.51.12-win32.
I have tried editing the registry DSN files - the problem still persists.
