SSIS Error: Unable To Cast COM Object

Oct 10, 2007

Hi,

I get the following error opening an existing (or working) ssis package on my new server.

Error loading 'TestExecutionFromScript.dtsx' : Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.PackageNeutralClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSContainer90'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{8BDFE892-E9D8-4D23-9739-DA807BCDC2AC}' failed due to the following error: Library not registered. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801D (TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED))..

I found in a blog that this is caused due to a dll which is not registered ("DTS.dll")

Can anyone try to explain the exact reason for this? I am not even able to execute a package from the command prompt using the dtexec utility. I have "Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Designer Version 9.00.3042.00" on my server. My other machine which executed this package successfully was running "Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services Designer Version 9.00.1399.00".

Thanks very much for any kind of help.

I get the following message in the vs2005 querybuilder when i do a preview:

***********************************
SQL Execution Error.

Executed SQL statement: SELECT Schoolindex, Variant, VVSchool, [index], indincl, VVRuimtes, School FROM School WHERE (Schoolindex = @PARAM1)

Error Source: SQL Server Compact Edition ADO.NET Data Provider

The same querypreview works fine without the parameter:

Can anybody tell me why this is?
And tell me a way to get the tableadapter working?

Unable To Cast COM Object Of Type 'ADODB.CommandClass' To Interface Type 'ADODB._Command'

Dec 20, 2006

I have an application which runs successfully on a couple of my customer's machines but fails on a third. It seems to fail when opening the database:

Unable to cast COM object of type 'ADODB.CommandClass' to interface type 'ADODB._Command'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{B08400BD-F9D1-4D02-B856-71D5DBA123E9}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=false; Initial Catalog=lensdb;Data Source = SQL

Before I got this error I was getting another problem (sorry didn't make a copy of that error's text) that made me think that adodb.dll simply wasn't loaded/registered. I got rid of that error by copying my adodb.dll onto the third machine and running gacutil /i. There is now an entry in winntassemblies for adodb.

Just in case you think it could be an obvious registry problem: when I started getting the current error I thought that maybe the registry needed updating and I merged the following lines into onto the target machine (from my dev machine):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Unable To Cast Object Of Type 'System.DBNull' To Type 'System.Byte[]'.

Aug 13, 2007

Hi,
I have developed a custom server control for .NET Framework 2.0. The server control has a property named BinaryData of type byte[]. I marked this property to be data bindable. Now, I have varbinary(Max) type of field in my SQL Database and I have used SQLDataSource and bound this varbinary(Max) field with the property BinaryData (byte[]) of my control. It is working fine as long as the data value is not NULL. Now, In my control, I have handled the NULL value so that no Exception is thrown. Still, when I bind this property using the SQLDataSource, I get Error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.Byte[]'." I am not sure if I can do anything to stop this erro within my control. If it is not possible from the control, then what is the workaround that I can do in my ASPX page in order to stop this error ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

VS 2005 Error 'Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object' With Integration Services Project Create Failure

May 22, 2008

Just installed VS 2005 & SQLServer 2005 clients on my workstation. When trying to create a new Integration Services Project and start work in the designer receive the MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' dialog box with message "Creating project 'Integration Services project1'...project creation failed."

Previously I had SQLServer 2000 client with the little VS tool that came with it installed. Uninstalled these prior to installing the 2005 tools (VS and SQLServer).

I'm not finding any information on corrective action for this error.

Any one have this problem and found the solution?

Thanks,

Type Cast Problem In SSIS

May 30, 2008

Correct me if i am wrong anywhere.

This is my table structure.

CREATE TABLE [AC].[RUN_PARMS](
[FILE_NAME] [varchar](6) NOT NULL,
[RUN_IND] [bit] NOT NULL,
[GROUP] [varchar](50) NULL,
CONSTRAINT [pk_RUN_PARMS] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[FILE_NAME]
)WITH (PAD_INDEX = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS = ON) ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY]

I am using an execute package task in SSIS based on the value of RUN_IND field in RUN_PARMS table. If all the value of RUN_IND field is 0 for all the files in a group, then the execute package task should be enabled else it should be disabled. So i have used the following query.

SELECT SUM(CONVERT(INT,RUN_IND)) AS RUN_IND FROM AC.RUN_PARMS
WHERE [GROUP] = 'FIN'

This will return the value which will be greater than zero. Since i have made the value as 1 for FIN group. Imagine the FIN group has 10 files in it. The output look like,

RUN_IND
10

and

SELECT SUM(CONVERT(INT,RUN_IND)) AS RUN_IND FROM AC.RUN_PARMS
WHERE [GROUP] = 'Ven'

This will return the value which will be equal to zero. Since i have made the value as 0 for Ven group. The output look like,

RUN_IND
0

I have created a variable in the package "user::vardisablepackage".
I have set Resultset as Single for SQL task component
In the package properties (The package which has to be disabled) i have selected property as "Disable" and the expression as @User::vardisablepackage = 0 ?False:True

The problem now is i am not sure what should be the data type for vardisablepackage.
The expression will assign False to Disable property when the RUN_IND = 0.
I am unable to complete this task since i have problem assigning data type for this variable.

Please suggest your views.

Cannot Open SSIS Project In BIDS

Apr 30, 2007

Hi,
I have been working on an SSIS project for sometime now. The project files are located on a remote server. Suddenly I am not able to open the solution I get a lot of error messages and all the data flow taks are gone. I later found out that SSIS encrypts packages, so that other users will not be able to see them. Fine, but I have been using the same windows user account for months now. What could be the problem?
This is what I get when trying to open the solution:

There were errors while the package was being loaded.
The package might be corrupted.
See the Error List for details.

And the error list also contains messages saying "Could not load from xml".

Any pointers will be much appreciated.

TIA

SQL Server 2008 :: Cannot Open New SSIS Project

Nov 2, 2012

I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 and Visual Studio 2008. However, after several installations and un-installations. I could no longer use the SSIS to create New Projects. I cleaned out the registry with a Registry cleaner from Wise. I deleted the SQL Server and Visual Studio folders as well.

When I create a New SSIS Project, I immediately get an error as follows:

"Microsoft Visual Studio"
"An error prevented the view from loading."
"Additional information:"
"Specified Module cannot be Found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)"
"(System.Windows.Forms)"

What this means is that I cannot create any new SSIS Projects.

When You Open Your SSIS Project With Other User, Delays?

Oct 27, 2006

hi everyone,

A couple of issues.

1)I usually connect to my remote server via TS using a specific login (it belong to Admins) and through that user I open my SSIS projects (30 packages). Now, I have a new user and the same operation take a long time and I don't know why (same permissions) the reasons for this big delay.

2)When I'm gonna to press "Delete all Breakpoints" from Debug menu BIDS is closed. Previously appears a Microsoft dialog (Microsoft has encountered an error...) asking if you inform or not of these errors.

Thanks in advance and regards,

Cast COM Object Error On OleDb Destination (Access 2003)

Mar 20, 2007

Trying to do a update/insert from SQL 2005 query to Access 2003 linked table.

In the Script Transformation I get this error.

Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to class type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection'. Instances of types that represent COM components cannot be cast to types that do not represent COM components; however they can be cast to interfaces as long as the underlying COM component supports QueryInterface calls for the IID of the interface.

Destinatoin Oledb connection is Native OLEDB Jet 4 to Access 2003 database.

Private sqlConn As OleDb.OleDbConnection

Private sqlCmd As OleDb.OleDbCommand

Private sqlParam As OleDb.OleDbParameter

Private connstring As String

Public Overrides Sub AcquireConnections(ByVal Transaction As Object)

connMgr = Me.Connections.ConnectionOLE

'sqlConn = CType(connMgr.AcquireConnection(Nothing), SqlConnection)

connstring = connMgr.ConnectionString

sqlConn = CType(connMgr.AcquireConnection(Nothing), OleDb.OleDbConnection)

End Sub

Any help would be appreciated.

Unable To Open User Instance Type Database After Attaching And Detaching In SQL Mgmt Studio

Apr 15, 2007

I've been using my DotNetNuke database for weeks on my local PC with SQL Server Express. It attaches as a "User Instance". Basically, I am using all the DotNetNuke defaults. Today I decided to attach the DotNetNuke database in SQL Server Management Studio Express and peek at the tables. I attached the database; then I detached it when I was done. This all went well. But when I tried to open my DotNetNuke web site again I now get a message that it cannot connect. Attaching and detaching the database in SQL Server Management Studio obviously changed something about the database, but I don't know what. My connection string to the database has not changed.

The specific error displayed in the browser is:
ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

In event viewer is this message:

Exception information:

Exception type: SqlException

Exception message: Cannot open user default database. Login failed.

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'.

My connection string is this:

<add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

Any suggestions about how I can correct this?

Type Cast Error Converting From Integer To String

Oct 30, 2007

I am attempting to convert an integer value to a string using the Derived Column transformation with the following expression on the field:
(DT_STR,10,1252)prod_id

prod_id is an integer. I was able to do this before however, in the past couple of days, this has failed with the following error:
"An error occurred while attempting to perform a type cast."

To my knowledge, I have not changed anything about this particular data flow within the past couple of days. I have verified that the value is coming in as an integer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Random Error Occurred While Attempting To Perform A Type Cast, Why?

Apr 17, 2008

Hi all!

I´m having some trouble with a SSIS package that I´ve been using five months or so now.

I have a package scheduled to run every 2 minutes to load data into my SQL Server instance
from our mobile computer systems. This data comes is read as flat file sources. My package runs 24/7.

My problem is that this package randomly returns "An error occurred while attempting to perform a type cast". This message is then returned during maybe 3 or 4 executions of the package. The error then vanishes into thin air, without me doing anything what so ever, and execution continues. The very same file that previously returned the errors is now processed without any problems.

I have no clue why this is, but I get the feeling that there has to be a reason for these random errors. To me, the type cast error seems to indicate problems with the data source (the flat file), but since the same file suddenly get processed without errors I have no clue where to start looking.

Anyone having the same issue?

Regards,

Daniel

What Does Object Was Open Error Mean?

Feb 14, 2005

Hi, I am accessing an MSDE Database from within a C# program. When calling the OleDbConnection.Open() method, I get the following error:

Exception: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException
Message: Object was open.
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.ProcessResults(Int32 hr)
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.InitializeProvider()
at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open()

Now I do not know what this means, since the Connection isn't open. And I do not know why this occurs. I am accessing the same database (but other tables) in the same program several times in the same way and do not get this error.

Any ideas?
