@len int,
@str nvarchar(500),

Hi,
I want to convert a UNIQUEIDENTIFIER to a VARCHAR, but I don't want to convert it to a varchar with this format: xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx; I want to convert it to a varchar representing my uniqueindentifier with a hexadecimal number 0xnnnnnnn...
Anybody knows if this is possible, or will I have to do it manipulating each character in the varchar
Thanks,

Dear SQL folks,
We have files from an event log in a DEC Alpha server and we would like to create a database program to import these files and then be able to read and query the info in them.
These files contain information such as error codes about the machine that the Alpha controls. They also contain time stamps. I am told that these files are hexidecimal.
Someone mentioned in passing that if we use MSaccess as the database, we would first have to write a program to convert these files to a format that Access can understand.
But, we were told that SQL7 has Add-ins that comes on the CD that can convert these files to a format that SQL7 can then understand.
Does anyone know if this is true..and how difficult is file conversion to accomplish?
If anyone thinks that they might be able to help us, I can sent them a small sample of the hex files
Thank you in advance
How should I convert a binary/hexadecimal value to Varchar

and the format file using the same address i.e http://Ipaddress/ApplicationName/Directory/plan.fmt
But when i press ctrl + click on the text file it take me to that location but when i do the same for the format file it says the page cannot be found.. Since it cannot access the .fmt file my import doesnt work.

Hello Everyone
Can someone please confirm, wether it is possible to execute a stored procedure in a sybase/or any other database from within an open query function in a SQL 7 database.
I know that we can execute a dynamic SQL statement, what about a stored procedure in the linked server. Can we execute that with parameters??
THANKS

Hi,
I would like to create a stored procedure, which accept RunAsUser, MasterKeyPassword and also ASymmetricKeyPassword. In this stored procedure, it call OPEN MASTER KEY and etc. I put these code in stored procedure so that my support staff can call it when doing maintenance by passing the parameter. I don't expect them to remember OPEN MASTER KEY and etc syntax.
However, I hit error "Invalid Syntax" when I run my code as below. Any ideas?
Thank you

Hai..
I have data in text files ( not in csv format but in a properitary format).
My requirment is to read the text files and parse it into corresponding data and then store it into the MSSQL Server Database.
Is there any way to do this by using Stored Procedure or extended stored prodcedure in SQL Server. Or is there any other way to do this in
SQL Server. My database is there in SQL 2000.
Any help will be appreciated..
with regards
Sudar
I can't use the words "stored pro.." in file names, folder names, or internet searches. I also can't click on links with those words in them. (hence my above abbreviations) The application will close down. I'm putting hyphens between the letters in the hopes that if anyone answers this I will still be able to open it.
i.e., I have a folder on my harddrive called "stored pro---cedures" - I can't open it via any windows applications. I named a word document "stored pro----cedure" and it closed the second I typed it in. I can use "stored pro", but not the other, even if i put or remove spaces between the letters. Even if I type other letters at the beginning and the end, the application will close.
I tried to do a Google search on "windows update" and "stored pro..." but the explorer window closed.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Hi all,

I was running the same application with the SQL Server 2005 only earlier when it was running. But now after I reinstalled VS.NET & SQL Server I am getting this error. What could be the problem?
Please help... I am badly stuck up.

when i click on the modify option on a stored procedure it is not opening for editing as earlier. it opens as if for scripting.for example i clicked modify procedure on stored proc. "text" and the result is as follows.
/****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[test] Script Date: 05/01/2015 7:50:08 PM ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[test]') AND type in (N'P', N'PC'))
[code]....
I get the below error only when my IDE open. It connects well when it is found closed.
[SqlException (0x80131904): Cannot open user default database. Login failed.Login failed for user 'JPASPNET'.]
I could solve this by giving the logged in windows user to impersonate under IIS window > WEBSITE > ASP.NET tab > EDIT CONFIG > APPLICATION tab
But I wish someone could give me the proper solution.
I almost tried all from giving ASPNET user as a administrator to configuring the same in Express management tool.
Environment: XP pro, VWD and SQL Express
Hi there,
I got an approach like that:
1) Read something from DB - check the value, if true stop if false go on2) Read the second Value (another SQL Statement) - check the value etc.
Now I could open the connection at 1) and if I have to go to 2) I leave the connection open and use the same connection at 2). Is it ok to do that?
The other scenario would be opening a connection at 1), immediately close it after I read the value and open a new connection at 2).
Thanks for the input!
Post installation of SQL Server 2014 Express edition, I am able to connect to the Database Instance.
But while opening a new query window in SSMS or opening a table getting the error:
Package 'RadLangSvc.Package, RadLangSvc, Version 12.0.0.0, Culture=Neutral, Public Token=89845dcd8080cc91' failed to load
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. (mscorlib)..Have already tried installing the componentsDACProjectSystemSetup_enu.msi, TSql LanguageService_enu.msi, DACFramework_enu.msi from path VS 2010 WCU DAC.
I'm working on a report to show financial transactions from a table over a certain period. For most transactions there is a PDF document that is stored in a separate table in a binairy format. In my report I would like to include a link on every line with transaction information in the report that opens the PDF that is linked to that transaction. Just to be clear, I don't want to embed the PDF in the report but I want the users of the report to have the option to view the PDF that is related to that transaction in their standard pdf reader (adobe).
Code to do the following:
Once a user clicks on the link to view the PDF I need the code to get the binairy data of the PDF file from the table, convert it back to a PDF and open it in the default pdf reader (for example adobe reader). If it can't directly open the file then it's maybe possible to activate the 'open or download' pop up that you also get when you download something from a website.
Long story short -
Have two C# applications - one WinForms desktop app, the other a WinForms smart device app. Both use SQL Server Compact CE 3.5 to store data locally. Both work just fine.
Now the desktop app needs to open and update the .SDF file that is stored on the Windows Mobile device. (Device will be docked via USB.)
What format would the path to the .SDF look like that the WinForms application would need to specify in order to open it?
Thanks for reading.
Hi,
I am using SSRS Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Designers
Version 9.00.1399.00. I want to open linked report in new window.
I tried whats mentioned in http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=240172&SiteID=1 but i get an error on Window.Open method.
How do I solve the problem?

Just a quick question about connection management. My application willnever need more than 1 or 2 connections about at any given time. Also, I donot expect many users to be connected at any given time. For efficiency, Iwould like to keep connections alive throughout the lifetime of the objectsrequiring them, rather than opening a new connection, executing code andthen closing it again. What is the most efficient way of doing this?Should I perform the open/close or just one open when I create the objectand a close when I dispose of it?
