Operation Cancelled By User

Apr 19, 2007

Hello Guys,

I am currently experiencing a Sql error: operation cancelled by user.

I don't know where this error come from. Is it from ADO.NET or SQL Server 2000.

This error doesn't always occur. It only occurs when many users access the web site. I want to know who issue the error. Why issue the error.

Let me know if you have any ideas

Thanks in advanced

Data Has Changed. Operation Cancelled.

Jul 31, 1999

When attempting to update or delete data using Microsoft Access, this error often occurs. The data can be updated or deleted directly through SQL Server and the problem is not resolved by closing and restarting access. The tables accessed have primary keys.

Any ideas?

It occurrs with both Access 2 and Access 95.

Server: The Operation Has Been Cancelled. - When Processing Cube

Jan 3, 2007

When I highlight a few
partitions and start processing, the process occasionally stops with a
message that operation has been canceled, like this:

Response 3
Server: the operation has been cancelled.
Response 4

Server: the operation has been cancelled.

Response 5
Server: the operation has been cancelled.

..etc...

(no further error message details are provided)
SQL profiler shows that batch was completed (but rowcount shown in process progress log is too small).

Analysis
Services profiler shows no messages at that time at all. It just shows
messages when it started, and when I restarted the processing.

The Analysis trace appears to be stopped when processing stops with "Server: the operation has been cancelled."This
is an occasional error and sometime occurs within 15-20 minutes from
starting to process. It could fail on 1st partition in the process list
, or on some partition in the middle. Some partitions might run for a
few hours and not error out, but sometimes it fails quickly.I was not sure if this is an issue with the underlying fact data, so I broke up the last partition where it failed into 5 smaller partitions, they processed OK separately.I think restarting SQL Server and SSAS helps to process a few more partitions. Some that failed with this problem process OK after restart, but some fail again.
(apologies for re-posting, wanted to put under more specific thread title)

Autogrow Of File 'Prod' In Database 'Production' Was Cancelled By The User Or Timed Out

May 27, 2008

We are running Microsoft SQL 2005 Express.

All queries on our Production database are timing out. Viewing the error log file the following show up over and over again:

Autogrow of file 'tempdev' in database 'tempdb' was cancelled by user or timed out after 3937 milliseconds. Use ALTER DATABASE to set a smaller FILEGROWTH value for this file or to explicitly set a new file size.

Autogrow of file 'Prod' in database 'Production' was cancelled by user or timed out after 33156 milliseconds. Use ALTER DATABASE to set a smaller FILEGROWTH value for this file or to explicitly set a new file size.

Our production database is about 1 gig in size with 3.5 million records. I tried setting the autogrow from 30% which it was before to 100MB, but no luck, still timing out and getting the errors above. Permission should be all good, nothing has changed.

There is about 50gigs of available disk space as well, so that's not the problem. Thanks for the help.

Error RsAccessDenied : The Permissions Granted To User '' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation.

Mar 20, 2007

I get an error message when deploying reports to the reportserver from microsoft visual studio.

error message : Error rsAccessDenied : The permissions granted to user '' are insufficient for performing this operation.

TargetServerURL : http://server.com/ReportServer$sql_2005

The Report server is configured to use a custom security extension. i can access the reportserver.

It looks like when i deploy the reports from VS. it does not pass any credentials to the report server. From the error message it looks like there is no username . How do i deploy reports to report server if we are using a custom security extension. How do i grant user rights to deploy report if we are using a custom security extension. Any idea. Thanks!

Transact SQL :: Cannot Perform Shrink File Operation Inside User Transaction

I am getting an error about "Cannot perform a shrinkfile operation inside a user transaction", but I don't have a shrinkfile command in my procedure.  Does SQL hang on to that command if it was received earlier in a different procedure?

The Permissions Granted To User 'domainusername' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation. (rsAccessDenied)

Jan 21, 2008

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me?

I have installed and configured sql server 2005 express edition with advanced services on an xp box, with the aim of using reporting services.

I have set up reporting services successfully using the report manager, with my web services id = netwrokservice.

I can access both the report manager and report url locally, i.e while using localhost anjd on the machine. The problem arises however when i try to access

the reports from another machine, as i get the message:

"The permissions granted to user 'domainusername' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)"

when going to for example:

"http://servername/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fReport1&rs:Command=Render"

I have looked at various sites (including microsoft) in an attempt to find a solution to this and most sites give exmaples of how to configure the full

version of reporting services which i do not have. The things that I have managed to gleam and try are:

- open up security on dir: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2Reporting ServicesReportServer to everyone and allow all access
- added my own username as a new role assigment in the report manager page
- added my own username to the reportserveruser and reportingserviceswebservicesuser roles, as indicated by microft:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms365166.aspx, who state that "Custom authentication extensions and custom role assignments are not supported. You

must map existing Windows domain user and group accounts to predefined role definitions."

Can anyone suggest where to look next as I cannot believe that this should be this difficult?

Many Thanks in advance

The Permissions Granted To User 'Domainuser' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation. (rsAccessDenied)

Apr 25, 2008

Hi, I've scoured the forums and tried just about every answer to this problem without any success. What I have is SQL Server 2005 installed on a single machine, and trying to deploy reports to the same machine for testing purposes. When I try to deploy the report I receive the permissions error. Here's what I've gotten to at this point:

I can get to the reports URL (http://machine/Reports)

I can login to Reporting Services via SQL Server Management Studio as the administrator. (Windows Authentication)

I have added my login to the Home Folder-->Permissions in SQL Server Management Studio, and all reports are set to inherit the home folder's permissions

In Reporting Service Configuration Manager the Windows Service Identity is set to Local System, and for web service identity - ASP.NET Service Account is set to NT AuthorityNetworkService; Report Server and Report Manager are set to DefaultAppPool.

In IIS I tried enabling Anonymous Authentication

Current Application pools are set to "Classic" for Managed Pipeline mode (I did this to actually be able to login to Reporting Services via SQL Server management studio; having this set to integrated gives me an error)
What gets me is that this is entirely self-contained on one machine, that I set up as an administrator. So why do I get a permissions error when I am the admin on this machine deploying to this machine?

The Permissions Granted To User &&<MachineName&&>ASPNET' Are Insufficient For Performing This Operation.

Jul 25, 2007

Hi,

I wanted to deploy my Sql 2005 reports to my local machine and want it to get viewed by all the users through Asp.Net application.

User can directly view the reports by clicking on the direct link to report but when they try to view it using application having Report Viewer, running on iis it gives acess denied 401 error and can't view the reports

If I make my application to run on default port then it works fine

If I give rights to <particularMachineNameASPNET> then that user can view the report but if there are 100 users then will i Add 100 such entries???

I think I am making mistake in this case.

Any response will be appriciated.

Package Cancelled

Oct 18, 2006

Hi,
I'm trying to transfer data from a DB2 database to a MS SQL Server database (approx. 150 000 rows).

When I execute the package, the process is always cancelled (In output window: SSIS package "DB2_test_TranAddl.dtsx" finished: Canceled.)

I use a view on DB2 to provide the data and I can modify it to return only a few rows.  To achieve this, I use a WHERE clause: WHERE OUTLET_NO Between X And Y.

When I try OUTLET_NO Between 1 And 5 (255 rows) the package executes successfully.
When I try OUTLET_NO Between 5 And 10 (388 rows) it works.

When I try OUTLET_NO Between 1 And 10 (643 rows) it fails!!

Any idea?

Package MyPackage Has Been Cancelled.

Jan 30, 2006

Hi,

I have scheduled a package "MyPackage" in a SQL Server Agent Job. It runs periodically with success.
Sometimes the package status is shown as "Cancelled" what led me to assume some coincidences.
So I took a look at the eventlog which contains the following message:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: SQLISPackage
Event Category: None
Event ID: 12290
Date: 30.01.2006
Time: 08:00:42
User: NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM
Computer: MYSERVER
Description: Package "MyPackage" has been cancelled.

I assume that the problem occurs when a user locally logs off from the Server where the SSIS-service is running.

Why does this happen? The Service runs under the local system account and so does the SSIS Job.

Can anybody help here?

SQL 7 Database Inaccessible After Restore Was Cancelled Mid Stream

May 24, 2001

Hi,

I have a problem with a database on our SQL 7 system . I had set away a restore from tape, but cancelled it after users complained that a different database was performing slowly . However, this has resulted in the database being marked as inaccessible when trying to access it through SQL Enterprise Manager and trying to access it through Query Analyser produces message 927 informing me that the database is in the middle of a restore . How do I remove this error and make the database accessible again??

Many thanks in advance

How Handle Continuous Until Cancelled Date Field?

Aug 9, 2006

We have a table in our legacy database system representing health insurance polices. The customer can, and usually does, renew the policy after 12 months. The legacy database uses the renewal string "99/99/9999" to signify "continuous until cancelled", in other words, "forever", or until cancelled

We need to convert this legacy table into a sql 2005 table, which supports the concept of "forever". But how can we do this? ("99/99/999" is not a valid sql date type and we don't want to use varchar for dates.)

The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) Has Cancelled The Distributed Transaction.

Feb 29, 2008

We have a test db, a staging db and a live db. I have a stored procedure that runs fine on test and staging, but throws the following error on live.

The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) has cancelled the distributed transaction.

The stored procedure uses linked servers and a transaction.
We're using the following transaction code in the stored procedure

BEGIN

BEGIN TRANSACTION

BEGIN TRY

---
procedure stuff here
---
COMMIT TRANSACTION
END TRY

BEGIN CATCH

DECLARE @ErrorSeverity INT, @ErrorNumber INT, @ErrorMessage NVARCHAR(4000), @ErrorState INT

SET @ErrorSeverity = ERROR_SEVERITY()

SET @ErrorNumber = ERROR_NUMBER()

SET @ErrorMessage = ERROR_MESSAGE()

SET @ErrorState = ERROR_STATE()

IF @ErrorState = 0

SET @ErrorState = 1

RAISERROR ('ERROR OCCURED:%d', @ErrorSeverity, @ErrorState, @ErrorNumber)

IF XACT_STATE() < 0

ROLLBACK TRANSACTION

END CATCH

END

I found the following link which seems to be the problem we're experiencinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/937517

The link includes a workaround which is the following:
"To prevent the SQLNCLI provider from sending an attention signal to the server, use the SQLNCLI provider to consume fully any rowsets that the OLE DB consumer creates. "

How do I use the SQLNCLI provider to fully consume any rowsets?

Set Operation

Aug 2, 2000

I am running SQL Server 7. I have an user that need to run the Set Identity On a table, and he gets an error message:
Server: Msg 8104. The current user is not the database or object owner of table 'tpartners'. Cannot perform SET operation.
I can grant this user with DBO user role, then he can edit anyting on the database.
Is there a work around that he can run the Set cmd and I don't need to grant him the DBO user role?

Err. Msg.: Cannot Perform SET Operation

Jan 18, 2003

I have a sp that creates a #temp table and performs a bulk insert.

CREATE TABLE #template (template varchar(8000))
EXEC ('bulk INSERT #template FROM "' + @filename + '"')
SET @html = (SELECT template FROM #template)
DROP TABLE #template
...

When I access this sp with any other user than 'sa' I get this error message:

The current user is not the database or object owner of table '#template'. Cannot perform SET operation.

I've been everywhere (with no success) in the sql srv admin to look for the appropriate check box to allow another named user to access this sp.

Can anyone help?

Bitwise NOT Operation

Sep 6, 2006

I was looking into some of the System stored procedures like sp_denylogin, sp_grantLogin etc. I found bit wise operations like

update master.dbo.sysxlogins set xstatus = (xstatus & ~1) | 2, xdate2 = getdate()
where name = @loginame and srvid IS NULL

How does the bitwise NOT(~) works with different datatypes like INT, SMALLINT and TINYINT?

Look at the following sample code and result. I just wanted to understand how it works with int and smallint

declare @a int
declare @b smallint
declare @c tinyint

select @a = 1, @b = 1, @c = 1

select @a=~@a, @b= ~@b, @c= ~@c

select @a, @b, @c

Result
~~~~~
-2-2254
Thanks in advance
Bcp Operation Within Transaction
Feb 18, 2004
hello,
I have a problem where I am calling the BCP utility to write a table to a file. I then need to delete the rows of the table. but not all of them. This all works fine. I've been asked to place this into a transaction..incase a piece fails. When I do that...SQL server hangs. I must shutdown SQL Server.
Any idea why that would happen. I am using the xp_cmdshell stored procedure to invoke bcp utility within a stored procdure. The procedure is executed every 15 minutes to provide files to an outboard system.
Salik.
