Out Of Memory. Error In SSIS

Jun 27, 2007

Hi!

I am currently encountering an error of testing an SSIS package in the server.

The package runs fine on my laptop, but not in the server.

I appreciate it for any of your input, comments, and suggestions.

The package is to populate records (150k rows) from a DB2 table and insert them into

another DB2 table (12,754,715 rows).

The server,

Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

SQL server 2005 sp1

8 CPUs

6 GB RAM

Native OLE DBIBM OLE DB Provider for DB2

My laptop,

Windows 2000 Professional

SQL server 2005 sp1

2 CPUs

2 GB RAM

Native OLE DBIBM OLE DB Provider for DB2

It fails on the insertion part (see the error message at the bottom). I have been playing with "DefaultBufferMaxRows" and "DefaultBufferSize" properties, but still no luck so far.

For the testing purpose, I even only select 2 rows from the source table, but it still fails with the same error message. And strangely, it still takes a very long time to process (for just two rows). In my laptop, it only takes few second to finish.

I have been really pulling my head to try to figure it out. Any of your help/input is highly appreciated! Thanks!

Out Of Memory Error (bUFFER SWAPPING )- SSIS

Feb 27, 2007

HI ,

Need some quick fix Help

I have been
trying to load data from AS400 to DB2 (windows) using ADO.NET connection in
Data reader source and OLEDB Destination (IBM Oledb provider )

The files, I€™m trying to load, have
number of rows more then 15 million.

On execution of the package I get
Out of Memory Error (see below)

My Destination Box is 4GB+ RAM and 4
CPU Box.

There seems to be some Buffer and
Swapping related issue which I€™m not able to figure out. It says that System is
unable to allocate memory

Please help me on the same.

Thanks in Advance

Attempted To Read Or Write Protected Memory Error In SSIS

Mar 17, 2006

I'm trying to import data from a Sybase ASE 12.0 database called "OurTestDatabase" into MS SQL Server 2005. I started SSIS Wizard and indicated "Sybase ASE OLEDB Provider" as a source and SQL Native Client as the target. I'm gettign the following error message:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cannot get supported data types from the database connection

"Provider=Sybase.ASEOLDEDBProvider;Password=;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=sa;Data Source=sybase;Initial Catalog=OurTestDatabase"

Additional information

|_ Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. (System.Data)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The same data source worked with DTS when we thought we'd convert to MS SQL Server 2000. Is this a bug in SSIS? What can be done? Using ".Net Framework Provider for ODBC" is not a good option because this doesn't allow me to choose any tables from the Sybase source.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Insufficient Memory To Continue Error When Attempting To Save SSIS Package

May 12, 2006

When attempting to save an SSIS package in Visual Studion I receive the following error message detailed below. If I attempt to "Save As" to another location, I then receive an insufficient storage error. The development machine has over 1.5 GB of available physical memory and several GB of disk space availabe to save my 16 MB package. I have checked the event log and have found no related messages in the Application or Server logs.

Any suggestions on how to determine the cause or resolution of this error message would be greatly appreciated.

Would Max Memory Including SSIS And SSAS Memory

Mar 27, 2008

Hello, I understand that we should use SSMS -> Server Properties -> Memory to put a cap on the SQL server memory usage, therefore it gives some space memory for OS, this is based on the fact if the max memory is not specified, SQL will use whatever available memory and eventually crash the system.

My question is that when a server has SSIS and SSAS services installed along with the SQL service. Would the max memory setting covers the SSIS and SSAS memory usage, or the SSIS and SSAS has to shared the memory with OS?

Thanks,
fshguo.

Memory Issues, SSIS Package Out Of Memory Help

Dec 6, 2006

I am running Visual Studio 2005. I have an SSIS Package which is consuming a huge amount of memory. During the execution of the package the memory keeps increasing. Until finally i get an Out of Memory exception. I have run this package using dtexec, and in the BIDS. No difference. I do have some script components and have added some code to get the assemblies in the current appdomain. I do see that one particular assembly is increasing on every loop. VBAssembly every time it hits the script component is increasing by 6, and along with it the memory is climbing. What is this VBAssembly being used for is there an update to SQL Server Integration Services that I need?

Thanks! Aaron B.

SSIS Using Up All My Memory

Nov 22, 2005

I have a WO-WO (no sorting, aggregating, etc.) SSIS package that reads ~26,000,000 rows from a SQL DataReader source, looks up a bunch of surrogate keys, derives a couple of values, and writes out to two SQL Server Destinations. The process gradually consumes all of the memory on the server, slowing it to a crawl. I reconfigured SQL Server to use a maximum of 8000 MB to mitigate the problem; however, the memory is not released unless I stop and restart SQL Server. Is this expected behavior for SSIS?

SQL Server Memory Consumption With SSIS?

Aug 7, 2006

I've been working on serveral packages for the past hour and after finishing for the night I quickly wanted to check to see how much memory SQL Server was consuming on my laptop. It was using almost 500MB of memory. It typically hovers around 50-100MB when I'm not doing anything with it. Is this normal?

SSIS Performance And Memory Usage

Sep 24, 2007

Hi -

I am facing 2 problems :
PROBLEM 1 :
We have a few packages that run pretty fast on a desktop server with 2 Gig RAM, Dual processor (approx 4-5 hours). But the same packages run very very slow on the another server containing 8 CPU and 12 Gig RAM (ran for 24 hours without completing).

PROBLEM 2 :
The CPU% ranges from 40-80% and the PF usage is stagnant at 2GB on desktop server for the same package. But in the 8CPU server, the CPU % ranges from 0-10% but the PF Usage raises from 750 MB to 8 GB.

This has become critical to our application.

TIA,

Shabs

SSIS Package Out Of Memory Exception

Does my script seem okay for releasing the server memory usage?

Thanks.

SSIS Using MASSIVE Amounts Of Memory

Feb 8, 2008

Hi,

I have a series of SSIS packages, all of which are ultimately executed by a parent package.

I'm consitently getting "OutOfMemory" errors when working with the packages which is temporarily solved by closing Visual Studio and re-opening the package(s)... This solution is short lived however as the OutOfMemory error occurs quite quickly after re-opening, often after doing nothing other than altering a variables default value and attempting to save the package.

The average size of the packages in question (.dtsx files) is around 7,000kb with the largest being 12,500kb. The total size of all the solution's packages is ~75,000kb.

The Processes tab in Task Manager shows a Mem Usage counter for devenv.exe *32 of around 20,000kb when Visual Studio is first opened however, when a single ~6,000kb dtsx file is opened this counter jumps to +300,000kb and when the entire solution is opened (When the parent package is executed), the Mem Usage counter for devenv.exe *32 is a massive +800,000kb!!!

Is this normal SSIS behaviour or do I have a major problem? Any tips or suggestions as to how to resolve this issue would be gratefully received.

FYI, "SELECT @@VERSION" gives me "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3042.00 (X64) Feb 10 2007 00:59:02 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2) "

My Server is Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 SP2 with 8GB of RAM.

Thanks in advance.

Leigh.

SqlWb.exe : Application Error- Memory Could Not Be Read Error

Sep 14, 2007

Hi,

I am trying to execute a SSIS package from a client through BIDS, but when I start BIDS, I am getting the error -

SqlWb.exe : Application error - The instruction at "0X77D...." referenced memory at "0X00000002". The memory could bot be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program.
Click on CANCEL to terminate the program.

Please help.

Other information:

I have tried running the package on the server and it executes properly. I really dont know why this is a problem with the SQL Server clients alone. I have also tried googling around and could not find any resolution. Can anyone point me to the right direction please!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Low Virtual Memory When Running SSIS Package As SQL Job

Oct 18, 2007

I see following error when I execute a SSIS package as part of a job from within SQL Server

Either not enough memory is available to the pipeline because not enough is installed, other processes are using it, or too many buffers are locked.

SQL Server has 6 GB memory allocated to it. How can I best troubleshoot this issue?

SSIS Transformations When Data Exceeds Available Memory

May 25, 2006

I've read that SSIS tries to do all transformations in memory as a way of enhancing processing speed. What happens though if the amount of data processed exceeds the available RAM? Are raw files then used (similar to staging tables) or is an error generated?

SQL Server 2008 :: SSIS Warning - Global Shared Memory

Apr 8, 2009

I'm busy rewriting DTS packages as SSIS packages. As and when I finish a package I run it in debug mode via Microsoft Visual Studio and then examine the Exection Results to see the messages generated.

Now it may or may not matter how I run the package but the following warning has been generated :-

[SSIS.Pipeline] Warning: Warning: Could not open global shared memory to communicate with performance DLL; data flow performance counters are not available. To resolve, run this package as an administrator, or on the system's console.

Integration Services :: How To Make SSIS Package To Utilize More Memory

Jan 15, 2013

i have a nightly job (SSIS Package) scheduled using MS. The package loads data from the OLTP db to the warehouse. The server has 256GB memory and out of which 211GB is free.

the job runs w/o any problems but some times it fails with the following error"DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.

An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "The statement has been terminated.".

An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint '<var>PrimaryKeyName</var>'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object '<var>TableName</var>'.".

When i researched this error i found out that its because of the memory issue. we have 222GB free memory and how come this is possible. Is there a way in the package or anywhere else where i can specify how much (percentage) of the memory that the SSIS package should use (something like SSRS threshold levelp).

Visual Studio 2005 Runs Out Of Memory When Trying To Use SSIS Package

Jul 12, 2006

Visual Studio runs out of memory when trying to use SSIS package. I am trying to create and run a SSIS package that validates and imports some large xml files >200MB. Validation fails because Visual studio cannot open large files without running out of memory.

The SSIS package throws this error when I run the package..at the validation task.

Error: 0xC002F304 at Validate bio_fixed, XML Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.".

How do I increase the amount of RAM that VIsual Studio can use...I have plenty of RAM on my workstation >3GB, but VS chokes maybe around 100MB files?

Thanks,

Problem In Executing Child Packages In SSIS (Invalid Access To Memory Location. . )

Oct 18, 2006

I have installed Office 2007 Beta 2 and SQL Server 2005 at my system.

I made 2 packages (C:Package.dtsx, C:Package1.dtsx). I am executing Package1 inside Package.dtsx using Executing Package Task.

In package1.dtsx there is some configuration that is coming at runtime(For each loop container having some file connections) , so I have put DelayValidation property of this package to True, but that did not work when I called this package from Package1.dtsx, then I found one workaround, I changed the ExecuteOutOfProcess of ExecutePacakge task to True,

Now the problem is that before installing Office 2007 the both were executing fine (it was taking some time in starting the second package because of OutOfProcess execution).

After installing Office 2007 I get the following error while executing the second package from first package.

Error: Error 0x800703E6 while loading package file "C:Package1.dtsx". Invalid access to memory location. .

This problem comes whenever the I execute the package having OutOfProcess property to true.

Is there any workaround for this, or I am wrong somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

Behavior Of SSIS Lookup Transform On Full Cache Setting With Low Computer Memory

Aug 9, 2007

I would like to know what happens when a very large reference data set for a lookup transform with full caching enabled is getting loaded during package execution and the computer memory runs out or is very low.
Does SSIS
a) give an out of memory error of some sort
b) resort to a no caching or partial caching mode
c) maintain the full caching mode but will switch to using the paging file(virtual memory).

I think it will resort to using the page file in which case the benefits of in memory lookups are lost and performance would suffer. If I cannot upgrade the memory or shrink the reference set somehow, i should switch that lookup task to use partial caching or no caching with an indexed lookup table. Would this make sense?

Memory Error

May 4, 2000

Folks,

I am getting error 8645 on a two processor 1GB RAM machine with SQL server 7.0 svcpack 1 on Windows NT svcpack 4. It has a 4GB db which is used by a VB. application running on another server. Initially I left the memory setting to dynamic, getting error 8645 when more users try to access the server. Upon lot of complains I changed the memory configuration and fixed it to 800MB, other application running on the server is Seagate backupexec but the problem exists even before this application. I stopped the service just to make sure if problem occurs because of backup software. Server is completely dedicated SQL server. Number of users are set to 400. I can see average 200 connections every day but active connections are almost 20. When error pops up in SQL agent display log, users complain about screen freezing up and cannot do anything. Machine of this size should be able to handle that many users without any glitch. Page file size is 1.5GB.

After careful examination I made following changes on SQL Server

1. Configured to use "Boost SQL Server priority on Windows NT"
2. Configured to use "Use NT fibers"
3. Dropped number of connections from 500 to 400.
4. Changed memory option back to dynamic allocation.

After these options changed there was no problem for couple of days and users were happy that not a single downtime occurs.
But this morning it started to acting up again, it does not show any error message in SQL server error log but in SQL agent error log.
My questions are:
What areas I need to look into to improve performance and to avoid these memory errors?
Why these messages appearing in SQL Agent error log?
Should I apply service pack 5 on NT and service pack 2 on SQL server?
Do I need to increase RAM.

I will really appreciate if you address this problem on priority.

Thanks in advance

Out Of Memory Error

Mar 16, 2007

I'm trying to generate a very large report. My server's got 32 gigs of memory though, so memory shouldn't be an issue. However, when I try to generate my report, I get the following outofmemory error message in the error log on the server:

EventType clr20r3, P1 w3wp.exe, P2 6.0.3790.3959, P3 45d6968e, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4333ab80, P7 116e, P8 29, P9 system.outofmemoryexception, P10 NIL.

The w3wp.exe process maxes out at ~1,250 MB. I imagine I just have to change a setting somewhere to allow this to grow beyond that, but I can't seem to find that setting. What do I have to do??

Thanks!

Error 614 And Memory Leaks

Sep 24, 1998

Folks

I have gotten two 614 error messages over the past two weeks. I also have a known memory leak problem on my production server. After I have identified the data on the page, I have gone back to requery that page and have not had a problem. I am unable to run checkdb on the db, because it is to big, and I am 24x7. My question/assumption is, the data on this page gets loaded into cache, and because of the memory leaks I am getting glitches like this, has anybody out there, had this type of problem?

From BOL Error 614 is as follows:

Message Text
A row on page %Id was accessed that has an illegal length of %d in database `%.*s`.

Explanation
This error occurs when an attempt is made to access a row on a page and the actual length of the row is greater than expected. The error indicates that there is a structural problem on the database page accessed during a read or write operation, and it involves a specific row from that page.
This structural problem can occur as a result of the following:
·Hardware problem related to but not limited to the hard drive, controller, or the controller`s implementation of write caching
·A structural problem determined when loading a database dump; it may indicate a integrity problem with the database dump file

Insufficient Memory Error

Oct 25, 2005

My company has a database that is throwing a weird error. We've tried reinstalling both the OS and the SQL instance, and the error still persists. We think this error might have to do with some .NET code we've written to run on the box, but I cannot find anything out on the internet about it. Here is the Enterprise Manager Error Log:

I can find information if I do a Google search on "Error: 17803, Severity: 20" But as soon as I add "State: 4" to the query I get no results. Also, the articles that I have seen that give the same error messages (but different states) tend to deal with servers that have more than 4GB of memory. This server has ONLY 4GB of memory and in order to try and resolve this issue, we have limited the server to 1GB of physical memory to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

SQL Error 701 Insufficient Memory

Jan 18, 2008

We have an application running on a SQL cluster (Win 2003) and SQL 2005 SP2 within it's own instance - 12 total databases and about 100G of data total. The node this instance is on has 64G of RAM with 16 allocated to this instance (only 8G allocated to other instances currently).

Now to the problem there is one process that when running we get the error below and we cannot figure how to correct this - the process runs 8 times a day and has been running great and then all of a sudden stopped running with the memory error. I am in search of any tips to diagnose or correct this issue

Out Of Memory Error Inserting Files

Oct 4, 2007

Hello.
I'm working with SQL Server 2005 Standard edition.
I have a Java program that loads PDF files into the database. I have a table called T08_entity which, among others, has two IMAGE columns. The first Image column is for the original PDF file. The second one is for the PDF file with modified permissions (printing, saving, etc). This is made using the i-text library.
The programs looks for the content of a disk folder, reads the contents of the folder, and inserts, one by one, the pdf files (besides other fields, like the name of the file, and ID, etc... but these are varchar or int fields. No problem with these.
When the folder has only small files (smaller that 7-8 mb), it loads them without any problem into the database. But when the folder has bigger files (>10mb, more or less...) I get an OUT OF MEMORY error.
I'm using the latest sqljdbc.jar driver (v1.2.2727). My server computer has only 1GB of RAM... but I've read that this latest driver can load big amounts of binary data using the connection property "responseBuffering=adaptive".
Here is a sample of my code (at least the most relevant lines):

This is my connection code:

public String getConnectionUrl(){
return "jdbc:sqlserver://"+serverName+":"+portNumber+";databaseName="
+databaseName+";responseBuffering=adaptive;selectMethod=cursor";
}

public java.sql.Connection getConnection(){
try{

...

Class.forName("com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver");
con = java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(getConnectionUrl(),userName,password); if (con.getAutoCommit())
{
con.setAutoCommit(false);
}
...
}
catch(Exception e){
System.out.println("etc, etc...");
}
return con;
}

The following is a loop where each loop represents a file in the folder:

File[] contenido = archivo.listFiles();
for(int i=0;i<contenido.length;i++)
{
if (contenido[i].isDirectory())
{
procesarDirectory(contenido[i]);
}else
{
insertDirectory(contenido[i]);
}
}

...And this is the insertDirectory procedure which inserts every file: the pdffile and pdffilenoperm are the IMAGE columns. The rest are varchar or int columns:

public void insertDirectorio(File archivo) {...if (archivo.isFile()){ pstmt =con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO temp_carga "+ "(directory, name, dir_sup, filetype, pfilesize,pdffile,pdffilenoperm)"+ " values (?,?,?,?,?,?,?)"); }...
long tamano = archivo.length();

pstmt.setString(1,pdffile.getPath());
pstmt.setString(2,pdffile.getName());
pstmt.setString(3,pdffile.getParent());

pstmt.setString(4,filetype);

if (pfilesize != 0) {
pstmt.setLong(5,pfilesize);
}
else
{
pstmt.setString(5,null);
}

if (pdffile.isFile()) {
try{

//INSERTS ORIGINAL FILE................
int fileLength = Integer.MIN_VALUE;
is = new FileInputStream(pdffile);
fileLength= (int) pdffile.length();
pstmt.setBinaryStream(6, is, fileLength);

//INSERTS FILE WITHOUT PERMISSIONS
(THIS PART OF THE CODE IS LONG AND IRRELEVANT, IT JUST USES THE ITEXT LIBRARY TO MODIFY THE PDF FILE. AT THE END, I HAVE THE FILE IN AN OUTPUT STREAM, AS SHOWN HERE:)
ByteArrayInputStream inputnoimp = new ByteArrayInputStream(outnoimp.toByteArray());
pstmt.setBinaryStream(7,inputnoimp,(int)outnoimp.size());
} catch(Exception e) {
err = e.toString();
}
}
pstmt.executeUpdate();
con.commit();
pstmt.close();
this.closeConnection();
}catch(java.sql.SQLException e) {
err = e.toString();
}
}

Well, as I said, when I run the program, when it reads smaller files, there's no problem. But when it gets a big file, I get the OUT OF MEMORY error. I have another application that reads pdf files ONE AT A TIME, using a code very much like this one, and it reads big files (>30mb) with no problems. The problems is with this one.
Any help will be appreciated. If you have any question to clarify the problem, just tell me.
Thanks in advance.
Eric.
