Output And Error Output Write The Same Table At The Same Time, Stall The Process.

Aug 30, 2006

Hi

I have Lookup task to determine if source data should be updated to or insert to the customer table. After Lookup task, the Error Output pipeline will redirect to insert new data to the table and the Output pipeline will update customer table. But these two tasks will be processing at the same time which causes stall on the process. Never end.....

The job is similiart to what Slow Changing Dimention does but it won't update the table at the same time.

What can I do to avoid such situation?

Thanks in advance,

JD

Flat File Processing - Cannot Get Error Output To Write

Apr 20, 2007

I cannot seem to get my flat file to write columns in error when inserting into a SQL table. I have tried a few examples from MS and did not get anything written to my flat file output. I have set the Source Error Output on this flat file and it uses a script task to created the error description and then write it to a Flat File Destination.

I am new to SSIS and have not had any formal training on it. However, I am very familiar with VS.Net/c# and SQL 2000 DTS - I need to get this working ASAP as there are 45 total flat files that need to be processed. Once I have this solved for one, the rest will follow suit.

If more details would help, I can provide them.

Kind Regards,

Ron

Why Is Table DDL Output In Error?

Apr 11, 2007

I used the oTable.Script method to output the DDL for a Sql Server 2000 user defined table. The result is DDL with an error. I don't think the problem is with DMO itself so I posted this here. Note the 'TEXTIMAGE_ON ' clause. The table does not have a text column, and the DDL will not execute.

CREATE TABLE [MyTable] (
[FilterID] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL ,
[LoanAgentID] [int] NOT NULL ,
[Key] [varchar] (16) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL ,
[IsActive] [int] NOT NULL ,
[tStamp] [timestamp] NOT NULL ,
[Formula] [varchar] (4000) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL ,
[_AuditAddDt] [datetime] NOT NULL ,
[_AuditUpdateDt] [datetime] NOT NULL ,
CONSTRAINT [PK_MyTable] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED
(
[FilterID]
) WITH FILLFACTOR = 90 ON [PRIMARY]
) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY]
GO

Server: Msg 1709, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot use TEXTIMAGE_ON when a table has no text, ntext, or image columns.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

How Can I Process More Than One Row And Get A New Output Number For Each

Jan 7, 2008

I have the following stored procedure that first inserts a new receiptnumber into a numbercounter table and then uses that number in another insert for a payment. My problem is I'm only getting one new receiptnumber so if there are more than one payment in the second insert it fails because of a constraint on the payment table that will not let the same receiptnumber be used more than once.
I need to Insert a new receiptnumber for each row in the second insert.
How can I do this?
@ReceiptNumber int OUTPUTASBEGININSERT INTO tblNumberCounter (InsertDate)Values (GETDATE())SET @ReceiptNumber=SCOPE_IDENTITY()INSERT INTO tblReceipts (pl_ID,client_ID,PaymentDate,Fund_ID,TenderTypeID,AmountPaid,ReceiptNumber,DateEntered,EnteredBy) SELECT     PL.Pl_ID, RS.client_id, PL.pmtDate, RS.rec_fund_id, RS.rec_tendertypeid, RS.rec_amount,                       @ReceiptNumber, RS.DateEntered, RS.EnteredByFROM         tblRec_setup AS RS INNER JOIN                      tblPayments AS PL ON RS.rec_id = PL.rec_id    Sub Post()        Dim cmdInsert1 As SqlCommand        Dim tr As SqlTransaction = Nothing        Dim ConnectStr As String = _        ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("2ConnectionString").ConnectionString        Dim conn As New SqlConnection(ConnectStr)        cmdInsert1 = New SqlCommand        cmdInsert1.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure        cmdInsert1.CommandText = "BatchMonthly"        'Get a new receipt number and add it.        Dim InsertedIntegerRN As New SqlParameter("@ReceiptNumber", SqlDbType.Int)        InsertedIntegerRN.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output        cmdInsert1.Parameters.Add(InsertedIntegerRN)     Try        conn.Open()        tr = conn.BeginTransaction()        cmdInsert1.Transaction = tr        cmdInsert1.Connection = conn        cmdInsert1.ExecuteScalar()         tr.Commit()    Catch objException As SqlException        tr.Rollback()       Dim ex As SqlError       Response.Write(ex.Message)    Finally        conn.Close()    End TryEnd Sub
So I thought I would add, What I'm doing here is this:
I insert a new receiptnumber into the tblNumberCounter table.
Then I use that number in the first row found based on the second Insert.
Then it needs to get another new receiptnumber for the next row of the second insert.
Anyway, I appeciate any help.

Execute Process Task / Console Output

Oct 25, 2006

I'm just starting to find my way around SSIS, coming from SQL 2000 DTS, but I can't see a way of including a Win32 Console application's output into the logging process.

I've started playing around with SSIS Logs (OnTaskFailed etc..), but I can find no where to allow me to capture the output from a console app. In SQL 2000 DTS I could capture this by specifying an "output file" on the advanced tab of the job step definition. Is there something as straight forward as this in SSIS ?

I'd be grateful for a few pointers in the right direction.

Synchronization With Verbose History Logging And Specify An Output File To Write....

Feb 1, 2007

i had setup the merge replication across the server but each next morning i find that replication syncronization has stop with following error

The merge process was unable to access row metadata at the 'Subscriber'. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to write to, or use SQL Profiler to determine the source of the failure. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147200996)

for this i manually restrat the syn. agent by stopping and then starting agent.

plz tell me how can i fix this hell of message or tell me how i call start/stop merge agent on command line so that i make script starting and stoping agent as job and will configure to run every morning.

Number Of ROWS Of Output Of Aggregate Transformation Sometimes Doesn't Match The Output From T-SQL Query

Dec 25, 2006

While using Aggregate Transformation to group one column, the rows of output sometimes larger than the rows returned by a T-SQL statement via SSMS.

For example, the output of the Aggregate Transformation may be 960216 ,but the

'Select Count(Orderid) From ... Group By ***' T-SQL Statement returns 96018*.

I'm sure the Group By of the Aggregate Transformation is right!

But ,when I set the "keyscale" property of the transformation, the results match!

In my opinion, the "keyscale" property will jsut affects the performance of the transformaiton, but not the result of the transformation.

Thanks for your advice.

Transact SQL :: Generic Store Procedure Call Without Output Parameters But Catching Output

Sep 21, 2015

Inside some TSQL programmable object (a SP/or a query in Management Studio)I have a parameter containing the name of a StoreProcedure+The required Argument for these SP. (for example it's between the brackets [])

EX1 : @SPToCall : [sp_ChooseTypeOfResult 'Water type']
EX2 : @SPToCall : [sp_ChooseTypeOfXMLResult 'TABLE type', 'NODE XML']
EX3 : @SPToCall : [sp_GetSomeResult]

I can't change thoses SP, (and i don't have a nice output param to cach, as i would need to change the SP Definition)All these SP 'return' a 'select' of 1 record the same datatype ie: NVARCHAR. Unfortunately there is no output param (it would have been so easy otherwise. So I am working on something like this but I 'can't find anything working

DECLARE @myFinalVarFilledWithCachedOutput
NVARCHAR(MAX);
DECLARE @SPToCall NVARCHAR(MAX) = N'sp_ChooseTypeOfXMLResult
''TABLE type'', ''NODE XML'';'
DECLARE @paramsDefintion = N'@CatchedOutput NVARCHAR(MAX) OUTPUT'

Execute Process Task -- Redirect Standard Output To A File, Not A Variable

May 29, 2007

I'm trying to use "findstr.exe" to extract some lines of interest from a data file, which I will later load to a table. I'd like to issue this form of a command:

findstr.exe "^SEARCHSTRING" "srcfile" > "dstfile"

I build the arguments using expressions, and both the search string and source file get correctly set. However, the ">" seems to be ignored--I can see the lines spitting out to the temporary window when I run under VS.

QUESTION: how do you redirect the output of a command run under an Execute Process Task?

Using Output From A Stored Procedure As An Output Column In The OLE DB Command Transformation

Dec 8, 2006

I am working on an OLAP modeled database.

I have a Lookup Transformation that matches the natural key of a dimension member and returns the dimension key for that member (surrogate key pipeline stuff).

I am using an OLE DB Command as the Error flow of the Lookup Transformation to insert an "Inferred Member" (new row) into a dimension table if the Lookup fails.

The OLE DB Command calls a stored procedure (dbo.InsertNewDimensionMember) that inserts the new member and returns the key of the new member (using scope_identity) as an output.

What is the syntax in the SQL Command line of the OLE DB Command Transformation to set the output of the stored procedure as an Output Column?

I know that I can 1) add a second Lookup with "Enable memory restriction" on (no caching) in the Success data flow after the OLE DB Command, 2) find the newly inserted member, and 3) Union both Lookup results together, but this is a large dimension table (several million rows) and searching for the newly inserted dimension member seems excessive, especially since I have the ID I want returned as output from the stored procedure that inserted it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

SQL Server 2012 :: Using Unions To Write Out Each Select Query As Distinct Line In Output

Aug 20, 2015

Basically I'm running a number of selects, using unions to write out each select query as a distinct line in the output. Each line needs to be multiplied by -1 in order to create an offset balance (yes this is balance sheet related stuff) for each line. Each select will have a different piece of criteria.

Although I have it working, I'm thinking there's a much better or cleaner way to do it (I use the word better loosely)

Example:
SELECT 'Asset', 'House', TotalPrice * -1
FROM Accounts
WHERE AvgAmount > 0
UNION
SELECT 'Balance', 'Cover', TotalPrice
FROM Accounts
WHERE AvgAmount > 0

What gets messy here is having to write a similar set of queries where the amount is < 0 or = 0

I'm thinking something along the lines of building a table function contains all the descriptive text returning the relative values based on the AvgAmount I pass to it.

Query Produces Jumbled Output / Output Not In Sequence

Jul 23, 2005

Hi!Server info -Win2K3 Server +SP1 with 1 GB Memory and 1.5 GB Virtual MemorySQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition + SP3 running on this.Required result -Create a SQL Script that will contain a set of create, update, insert& delete statements (about 17500 lines including blank lines) thatcan be run on different databases seperatelyHow we do this -We have a SP - that creates a temporary table and then calls anotherSP that actually populates the temporary table created by the first SP*Samples of both SPs are below -PROBLEMThe result is directed to a file -However when the query is run it runs through the entire script but'Jumbles' the outputRunning the same scripts on a copy of the database on other machineswork fine and the size of the outfiles is exactly the sameI have increased the page size to 2.5 GB and restarted the server.Running the sp now generated the correct output a few times but gotjumbled as before after a few more users logged in and activity on theserver increased.Another interesting point is that the output is jumbled exactly thesame way each time. PrimeOutput : Difference Between 'Output' And 'output Buffer'

Aug 12, 2005

When overriding the PrimeOutput method in a custom component, you get as parameters the outputIDs and the output buffers (of type PipelineBuffer). using the outputIDs you can get IDTSOutput90 outputs.

Problem With The Output Of Time Series Model

Jul 15, 2006

Hi,
I have built a Time Series model to forecast Sales Value. I have used data form Jan 2005 to Sep2006 to train the model.
When
I write a DMX query to forecast the sales value for next 5 months, it is throwing me the output in the following format.

$TIME Sales Value
200610 2874
200611 2875
200612 2874
200613 2874
200614 2874

whereas the output i expected was.

$TIME Sales Value
200610 2874

200611 2875

200612 2874

200701 2874

200702 2874

What changes should i make in the model to get the output in the above format.?

Flat File Source Error Output Conversion Error With UNICODE Files

May 14, 2008

i have a weird situation here, i tried to load a unicode file with a flat file source component, one of file lines has data like any other line but also contains the character "ÿ" which i can't see or find it and replace it with empty string, the source component parses the line correctly but if there is a data type error in this line, the error output for that line gives me this character "ÿ" instead of the original line.

simply, the error output of flat file source component fail to get the original line when the line contains hidden "ÿ".

i hope you can help me with issue.

Thanks in advance.

Get Name Of Column In Error Output

Apr 23, 2007

I would like to get the actual name of the column that has the error. Using the ErrorColumn (int value) I thought there would be some type of lookup collection based on the input (like column names)- if there is, can someone tell me how to get to it?

I have my error output writing to a stored proc, but instead of "32226" as the column name, I need to have the actual name of the column. I am going from Flat File to OLE DB Destination. I have a Script Component getting the output to write to my sproc, and I just need to get the column name.

Suggestions?? Thanks

OLE DB Source Error Output

Nov 8, 2007

What is the purpose of the error output for an OLE DB Source component. Any sql that would cause an error such as converting a character to a number or division by zero causes the OLE DB Source component to fail regardless of the settings for the error output. Works perfect for OLE DB Destination but I cannot come up with any scenario where it would work for the OLE DB Source component.

Thanks in advance,
Brad

Customized Error Output?

Jun 25, 2007

I am using SSIS to load a lot of Excel, csv files. Some of the files will fail for various formating/validation reason. Is it a good way to capture the error and generate a nice error report so the provider can read it easily and correct the data files?

The error log of the package is difficult to read.

OLE DB Source Error Output

Aug 3, 2007

In the Input and Output Properties tab under Advance Editor for OLE DB Source, I cannot remove columns. I copied this Source from a standard template and have made the normal changes to make it work. However I keep getting this error...Error: 0xC020837B at Load Server Security, OLE DB Source [1]: The output column "DBName" (1632) on the error output has no corresponding output column on the non-error output.Error: 0xC004706B at Load Server Security, DTS.Pipeline: "component "OLE DB Source" (1)" failed validation and returned validation status "VS_ISBROKEN".DBName of course is one of the columns that no longer exist, but I can't remove. Whenever I try to remove one of the columns, I get this error...Error at Load Server Security [OLE DB Source[1]]: The column cannot be deleted. The component does not allow columns to be deleted from this input or output. Is there anything that I can do to remove the columns? Is there just a simple setting that I can change to make this work?

Error Output Question

May 17, 2007

Hello,

I realize I have a question about what constitutes an "error" for an error output.

For example, a flat file source has an error output for "bad rows", that is, when it encounters "unexpected data". What specifically is "unexpected data"? Is this documented somewhere?

Another example would be an OLE DB source that uses a query to retrieve row. This too, has an error output, but I realize I have no clue what would constitute bad data from a table. I mean, data in a table is just data, so what would constitute an error from an OLE DB source? I can't think of one thing. Where are these "rules" documented, if anywhere?

Thanks

Error Output Logic

Apr 10, 2007

Hello,

I have a simple SSIS package running under SQL 2005 SP2a.

In the data flow, I have several lookup transforms with error outputs. Each error output links to its own audit transform and then writes data to its own flat file destination.

After the data flow is complete, my control flow will then use a ForEach file container to mail the flat files to the source system data owners with a message about incomplete/inconsistent source data. I am effectively providing feedback to the source owners so that we may improve the quality of data that gets sent to us.

My problem is that the flat file (which contains the offending rows) seems to get created everytime even when there were no errors in the lookup in question. Thus my ForEach container will always send a mail to the data source teams even if there were no errors as the error flat file will always exist albeit empty.

How can I stop this happening? How can I only create flat files when there really were errors? How can I prevent the source teams from receiving feedback emails when there is no reason to?

Thanks in advance
MGale1

OUTPUT On Table With A Trigger

Sep 7, 2006

First some background info.
SQL Express
Visual Studio 2005

VB.Net

Data.SQLClient Namespace

Well I was using the OUTPUT option in my program and it was great, i was returning my PrimaryKey from the newly inserted row. (I am using paramaters in my program and running a sqlCommand.ExecuteScalar)

--Example Insert
"Insert into tblInfo (fldInfo,fldDate) OUTPUT inserted.fldInfoID values (@fldInfo, @fldDate)"

Then I found a problem...:(

I added trigger to the tblInfo, that after a Insert,Update, Delete it would perform a audit on the table saving the old info that was overritten, type of action taken (insert, update or delete), and who did it.

Well my OUTPUT didn't like that says, it can't do a OUTPUT on a table with a trigger.

--Error msg
Msg 334, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The target table 'tblInfo' of the DML statement cannot have any enabled triggers if the statement contains an OUTPUT clause without INTO clause.

So what am i supose to do? I want the audit to occur, but I walso want the primarykey without doing a select (maxID) which could potentially get the wrong id (multiuser).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jordon

Output Table As Variable

May 14, 2007

Hi,

I've been looking into using the ability to select the table of an OLEDB destination task based on a package variable but would like to know if this could be utilised in the following example.

I have a CSV file (potentially there are many) with a number of rows. The rows do not necessarily contain the same number of elements. Each row has an EventID and this is used to determine the database table that the row is to be inserted in.

Initially i thought about using a conditional split to send each row down the path relating to its event ID. There would be multiple destinations depending on the table. With the possibility of 60 to 70 different event ID's this is very quickly going to get out of hand in the designer. I'd like to know if it would be possible to set up a case statement (or similar) in a script component and specify the table name as a variable depending on the event ID. I'd then use this table variable to set the destination task's table property.

Does this sound like a possibility or do i have to go down the route of multiple paths?

Many thanks in advance,

Grant

What Error #s To Look For In Dbcc Checkdb Output

Jan 29, 2001

I want to automate the dbcc checkdb process. I create a temp table called #CheckDbTbl and run the following command:

INSERT INTO #CheckDBTbl
dbcc checkdb(MyDbName) with tableresults

I plan to send myself an email if any problems are found.

Does anyone know what Error numbers or Levels or anything else I should look for in the #CheckDBTbl that will tell me a problem exists? Right now I'm only checking for: Level >= 16.

Many thanks for your responses!

-bh
